Fusarithioamide B (6), a new aminobenzamide derivative with unprecedented carbon skeleton and five known metabolites: stigmast-4-ene-3-one (1), stigmasta-4,6,8(14),22-tetraen-3-one (2), p-hydroxyacetophenone (3), tyrosol (4), and fusarithioamide A (5) were separated from Fusarium chlamydosporium EtOAc extract isolated from Anvillea garcinii (Burm.f.) DC. leaves (Asteraceae). The structure elucidation and complete assignment of the isolated metabolites were performed mainly by the aid of various NMR and MS data. Fusarithioamide B (6) has been assessed for antibacterial and antifungal activities towards various microbial strains by disc diffusion assay. It exhibited selective antifungal activity towards C. albicans (MIC 1.9?µg/ml and IZD 14.5?mm), comparing to clotrimazole (MIC 2.8?µg/ml and IZD 17.9?mm). Also, it possessed high antibacterial potential towards E. coli, B. cereus, and S. aureus compared to ciprofloxacin. Furthermore, 6 was tested for the in vitro cytotoxic effect against KB, HCT-116, BT-549, MCF-7, SKOV-3, and SK-MEL cell lines. It had selective and potent effect towards BT-549, MCF-7, SKOV-3, and HCT-116 cell lines with IC50s 0.09, 0.21, 1.23, and 0.59?μM, respectively compared to doxorubicin (IC50s 0.046, 0.05, 0.321, and 0.24?μM, respectively). Fusarithioamide B may provide a lead molecule for future developing of antitumor and antimicrobial agents.  相似文献

Saccharina (Laminaria) japonica, a safe, cheap, and readily available macroalga can be used as a substrate for various microbial fermentations. This work investigated the feasibility of S. japonica as a substrate for production of pigments by the fungus Talaromyces amestolkiae GT11 in solid-state fermentation without additional salt and/or nitrogen sources. Under optimized conditions, the pigment exhibited maximum absorption spectrum at 410 (yellow) and 510 nm (red), and the pigment yield of 1,153.5 (yellow) and 506.2 (red) OD units g?1 of dry fermented substrate were achieved with a particle size of 1.0 mm and pH 7, although visually the pigment was reddish in color. The optimum incubation period, pH, moisture, inoculum size, and temperature were observed to be at 192 h, pH 7.0, 80 % (w/w) moisture, 1.8?×?106 spores mL?1 of inoculum g-1 of dry substrate and 28 °C. Hence, this study indicates the suitability of utilization of S. japonica as a substrate for natural pigment production by T. amestolkiae GT11 which can be used in food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries for various applications.  相似文献

A total of 181 ready-to-eat poultry meat samples were examined for the presence of Staphylococcus aureus, and 11 (6 %) were found to have S. aureus contamination. Of 11 S. aureus isolates, 10 (91 %) were resistant to at least one antibiotic used in this study, and 2 were resistant to oxacillin. Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis was tested as a bio-control agent. All the S. aureus isolates were found to be sensitive to antimicrobial products in L. lactis subsp. lactis supernatants; the zones of inhibition were in the range of 5.0 mm?±?0.70 mm to 19.8 mm?±?0.83 mm with the majority of isolates. As a competitive flora in mixed culture (LAPTg broth) and protective culture in poultry meat, L. lactis subsp. lactis was effective against S. aureus isolates; the growth of S. aureus isolates was almost negative after 32 h incubation in mixed culture. The population of S. aureus was reduced substantially to almost log 1 CFU/g after 25 days of incubation in protective culture. The pH of the test cultures also decreased sharply with time.  相似文献

Muchimangins are benzophenone-xanthone hybrid polyketides produced by Securidaca longepedunculata. However, their biological activities have not been fully investigated, since they are minor constituents in this plant. To evaluate the possibility of muchimangins as antibacterial agent candidates, five muchimangin analogs were synthesized from 2,4,5-trimethoxydiphenyl methanol and the corresponding xanthones, by utilizing p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate for the Brønsted acid-catalysis. The antibacterial assays against Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, and Gram-negative bacteria, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli, revealed that the muchimangin analogs (±)-1,3,6,8-tetrahydroxy-4-(phenyl-(2′,4′,5′-trimethoxyphenyl)methyl)-xanthone (1), (±)-1,3,6-trihydroxy-4-(phenyl-(2′,4′,5′-trimethoxyphenyl)methyl)-xanthone (2), and (±)-1,3-dihydroxy-4-(phenyl-(2′,4′,5′-trimethoxyphenyl)methyl)-xanthone (3) showed significant activities against S. aureus, with MIC values of 10.0, 10.0, and 25.0 μM, respectively. Analogs (±)-1 and (±)-2 also exhibited antibacterial activities against B. subtilis, with MIC values of 50.0 and 12.5 μM, respectively. Furthermore, (+)-3 enhanced the antibacterial activity against S. aureus, with a MIC value of 10 μM.  相似文献

The effectiveness of the metal oxide nanoparticles viz. CuO and Fe2O3 as antibacterial agents against multidrug resistant biofilm forming bacteria was evaluated. CuO nanoparticles were also experimented for antibiofilm and time kill assay. The CuO displayed maximum antibacterial activity with zone of inhibition of (22 ± 1) mm against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) followed by Escherichia coli (18 ± 1) mm. The Fe2O3 showed the zone of inhibition against MRSA of (14 ± 1) mm followed by E. coli (12 ± 1) mm. CuO proved to be more toxic than Fe2O3 nanoparticles showing significantly high antibacterial activity and found to possess dose dependent antibiofilm properties.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles possess antibacterial effect for various bacteria; however mechanisms of the interaction between Ag-NPs and bacterial cells remain unclear. The aim of our study was to obtain direct evidence of Ag-NPs penetration into cells of Gram-negative bacterium S. typhimurium and Gram-positive bacterium S. aureus, and to study cell responses to Ag-NPs. The Ag-NPs (most 8–10 nm) were obtained by gas-jet method. S. typhimurium (7.81 × 107 CFU), or S. aureus (8.96 × 107 CFU) were treated by Ag-NPs (0.05 mg/l of silver) in orbital shaker at 190 rpm, 37 °C. Bacteria were sampled at 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 5 and 23 h of the incubation for transmission electron microscopy of ultrathin sections. The Ag-NPs adsorbed on outer membrane of S. typhimurium and cell wall of S. auereus; penetrated and accumulated in cells without aggregation and damaging of neighboring cytoplasm. In cells of S. aureus Ag-NPs bound with DNA fibers. Cell responses to Ag-NPs differed morphologically in S. typhimurium and S. aureus, and mainly were presented by damage of cell structures. The cytoplasm of S. aureus became amorphous, while S. typhimurium showed lumping and lysis of cytoplasm which led to formation of “empty” cells. Other difference was fast change of cell shape in S. typhimurium, and late deformation of S. aureus cells. The obtained results showed how different could be responses induced by the same NPs in relatively simple prokaryotic cells. Evidently, Ag-NPs directly interact with macromolecular structures of living cells and are exert an active influence on their metabolism.  相似文献

Evaluation of antioxidant capacities of green microalgae   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Three strains of green microalgae, Chlorococcum sp.C53, Chlorella sp. E53, and Chlorella sp.ED53 were studied for their antioxidant activities. Crude extracts of these microalgae in hot water and in ethanol were examined for their total phenolic contents and for their antioxidant capacities. In order to determine their phenolic contents, the Folin–Ciocalteu method was used. As for the determination of their antioxidant capacities, four different assays were used: (1) total antioxidant capacity determination; (2) DPPH radical scavenging assay; (3) ferrous ion chelating ability assay; and (4) inhibition of lipid peroxidation (using thiobarbituric acid reactive substance). For all the strains we have studied, their ethanolic extract showed more antioxidant activities than their hot water extract. Categorically, the ethanolic extract of Chlorella sp.E53 exhibited both the highest total phenolic content of 35.5?±?0.14 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE) g?1 dry weight and the highest DPPH radical scavenging of 68.18?±?0.38 % at 1.4 mg mL?1 (IC50 0.81 mg mL?1), whereas Chlorella sp.ED53 showed both the highest ferrous ion chelation activity of 42.78?±?1.48 % at 1 mg mL?1 (IC50 1.23 mg mL?1) and the highest inhibition of lipid peroxidation of 87.96?±?0.59 % at 4 mg mL?1. This high level of inhibition is comparable to 94.42?±?1.39 % of butylated hydroxytoluene, a commercial synthetic antioxidant, at the same concentration.  相似文献

In order to illustrate the physiological variation of different generations and different thallus parts of Saccharina japonica, physiological parameters such as maximum and effective PSII photochemical efficiency, nutrient uptake, and elemental composition were determined in the laboratory. Photosynthetic analysis in different generations indicated that, although gametophytes had higher pigment contents than the sporophyte, they had lower values of F v/F m and ΔF/Fm. The highest Chl a/Chl c ratio was found in sporophyte generation (3.98?±?0.01) and in the basal part of fresh thallus (2.66?±?0.02). The sporophyte had significantly higher values of nitrate uptake but lower values of phosphorus uptake than the gametophytes. The contents of nitrogen and carbon as well as C/N in gametophytes were significantly higher than those in sporophytes. In addition, the basal part of the S. japonica thallus had the highest C content (22.31?±?1.50 %) but the lowest N content (2.02?±?0.16 %), as well as the highest value of C/N (11.02?±?0.34).  相似文献

The present study investigated the contents of hydroxy-oxylipins hydroxyoctadecadienoic acids (HODEs), hydroxyoctadecatrienoic acids (HOTrEs), and hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acids (HETEs) in 40 macroalgae belonging to the Chlorophyceae, Rhodophyceae and, Phaeophyceae. The hydroxy-oxylipin content was low and ranged from 0.14?±?0.012 ng/g (Codium dwarkense) to 8,161.9?±?253 ng/g (Chaetomorpha linum) among the Chlorophyceae, 345.4?±?56.8 ng/g (Scytosiphon lomentaria) to 2,574.5?±?155.5 ng/g (Stoechospermum marginatum) among the Phaeophyceae, and 19.4?±?2.2 ng/g (Laurencia cruciata) to 1,753.1?±?268.2 ng/g in Gracilaria corticata v. folifera) among the Rhodophyceae on fresh weight basis (p?≤?0.01). The concentrations of C18-oxylipins were greater than C20-oxylipins in all the investigated macroalgae, except forUlva linza, Codium sursum, Dictyopteris deliculata, S. marginatum, Sargassum tenerrimum, Gracilaria spp. (except G. textorii), Rhodymenia sonderi, and Odonthalia veravalensis.The macroalgal species rich in HODEs, HOTrEs, and HETEs were segregated using principal component analysis. The red macroalgae showed the highest contents of HETEs, followed by brown and green macroalgae in consistent with their PUFA profiles. The relative contents of isomeric forms of oxylipins displayed the species-specific positional selectivity of lipoxygenase (LOX) enzyme in macroalgae. All the species exhibited 13-LOX specificity for linoleic acid analogous of higher plants, while 21 out of 40 species showed 9-LOX selectivity for the oxygenation of α-linolenic acid. No trend was observed for the oxygenation of arachidonic acid in macroalgae, except for in the Halymeniales, Ceramiales (except L. cruciata), and Corallinales. This study infers that LOX products, octadecanoids and eicosanoids, described in macroalgal taxa were similar to those of higher plants and mammals, respectively, and thus can be utilized as an alternative source of chemically synthesized oxylipin analogues in therapeutics, cosmetics, and nutritional oil supplements.  相似文献

5-(4??-substituted phenylazo)-2-thioxothiazolidinone derivatives (HLn) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, spectra (IR, electronic and 1H NMR). The IR spectral data indicate that the compounds can exist in two resonance structures. The synthesized ligands were screened for their antimicrobial activity against four bacterial species, two Gram positive bacteria (Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus) and two Gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae) as well as against some species various of fungi; Aspergillus niger, Penicillium chrysogenum, Penicillium italicum and Fusarium oxysporium. The results showed that most these ligands are good antibacterial agents against B. cereus and S. aureus and antifungal agents against A. niger and F. oxysporium. HL3 was found to be the most effect compound against all tested microorganisms. The objective of this study was to immobilise and characterise a variety of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) onto poly-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (pHEMA) surfaces to achieve an antibacterial effect. Four AMPs, viz. LL-37, melimine, lactoferricin and Mel-4 were immobilised on pHEMA by 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC) which assisted covalent attachment. Increasing concentrations of AMPs were immobilised to determine the effect on the adhesion of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The AMP immobilised pHEMAs were characterised by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to determine the surface elemental composition and by amino acid analysis to determine the total amount of AMP attached. In vitro cytotoxicity of the immobilised pHEMA samples to mouse L929 cells was investigated. Melimine and Mel-4 when immobilised at the highest concentrations showed 3.1 ± 0.6 log and 1.3 ± 0.2 log inhibition against P. aeruginosa, and 3.9 ± 0.6 log and 2.4 ± 0.5 log inhibition against S. aureus, respectively. Immobilisation of LL-37 resulted in up to 2.6 ± 1.0 log inhibition against only P. aeruginosa, but no activity against S. aureus. LFc attachment showed no antibacterial activity. Upon XPS analysis, immobilised melimine, LL-37, LFc and Mel-4 had 1.57 ± 0.38%, 1.13 ± 1.36%, 0.66 ± 0.47% and 0.73 ± 0.32% amide nitrogen attached to pHEMA compared to 0.12 ± 0.14% in the untreated controls. Amino acid analysis determined that the total amount of AMP attachment to pHEMA was 44.3 ± 7.4 nmol, 3.8?±?0.2?nmol, 6.5 ± 0.6 nmol and 48.9 ± 2.3 nmol for the same peptides respectively. None of the AMP immobilised pHEMA surfaces showed any toxicity towards mouse L929 cells. The immobilisation of certain AMPs at nanomolar concentration to pHEMA is an effective option to develop a stable antimicrobial surface.  相似文献

Staphylococcus aureus is a major pathogen in humans and causes serious problems due to antibiotic resistance. We investigated the antimicrobial effect of glycyrrhetinic acid (GRA) and its derivatives against 50 clinical S. aureus strains, including 18 methicillin-resistant strains. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of GRA, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, disodium succinoyl glycyrrhetinate (GR-SU), stearyl glycyrrhetinate and glycyrrhetinyl stearate were evaluated against various S. aureus strains. Additionally, we investigated the bactericidal effects of GRA and GR-SU against two specific S. aureus strains. DNA microarray analysis was also performed to clarify the mechanism underlying the antibacterial activity of GR-SU. We detected the antimicrobial activities of five agents against S. aureus strains. GRA and GR-SU showed strong antibacterial activities compared to the other three agents tested. At a higher concentration (above 2x MIC), GRA and GR-SU showed bactericidal activity, whereas at a concentration of 1x MIC, they showed a bacteriostatic effect. Additionally, GRA and GR-SU exhibited a synergistic effect with gentamicin. The expression of a large number of genes (including transporters) and metabolic factors (carbohydrates and amino acids) was altered by the addition of GR-SU, suggesting that the inhibition of these metabolic processes may influence the degree of the requirement for carbohydrates or amino acids. In fact, the requirement for carbohydrates or amino acids was increased in the presence of either GRA or GR-SU. GRA and GR-SU exhibited strong antibacterial activity against several S. aureus strains, including MRSA. This activity may be partly due to the inhibition of several pathways involved in carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism.  相似文献

Rohu (Labeo rohita) fingerlings, were fed de-oiled Jatropha curcas seed meal (DJSM) supplemented diets for 60 days and the effectiveness, if any, on the growth was evaluated. Nine isonitrogenous (35 % crude protein) and isocaloric (4.0 kcal g?1) diets were formulated of which one was reference diet (RD, fishmeal based control diet) and the other eight were experimental diets prepared by incorporating raw (D1–D4) and fermented (D5–D8) DJSM at 10, 20, 30 and 40 % levels by weight, respectively. Autoclaved DJSM was processed through solid state fermentation (SSF) for 15 days at 37 ± 1 °C by an exo-enzyme producing bacterium, Bacillus cereus Lr.H.23 isolated from the hindgut of rohu, L. rohita. Processing through SSF caused decrease in the contents of crude fibre and anti-nutritional factors, but increase in the levels of free amino acids and free fatty acids. In terms of growth performance, feed utilization efficiency and apparent protein digestibility, fish fed diet D7 containing 30 % fermented DJSM showed the best performance, which differed significantly (P < 0.05) from that of the fish fed diets containing raw DJSM. The results indicated that an inclusion level up to 30 % fermented DJSM replacing 15 % FM in the practical diet for rohu fingerlings can be proposed when compared to the RD. However, further experiments are required to recommend the ingredient for use in industry.  相似文献

NZ2114, a new variant of plectasin, was overexpressed in Pichia pastoris X-33 via pPICZαA for the first time. The total secreted protein of fermentation supernatant reached 2,390 mg/l (29 °C) and 2,310 mg/l (25 °C), and the recombinant NZ2114 (rNZ2114) reached 860 mg/l (29 °C) and 1,309 mg/l (25 °C) at 96 h induction in a 5-l fermentor, respectively.The rNZ2114 was purified by cation exchange chromatography, and its yield was 583 mg/l with 94.8 % purity. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of rNZ2114 to four ATCC strains of Staphyloccocus aureus was evaluated from 0.028 to 0.90 μM. Meanwhile, it showed potent activity (0.11–0.90 μM) to 20 clinical isolates of MRSA. The rNZ2114 killed over 99.9 % of tested S. aureus (ATCC 25923 and ATCC 43300) in Mueller-Hinton medium within 6 h when treated with 4?×?MIC. The postantibiotic effect of rNZ2114 to S. aureus ATCC 25923 and ATCC 43300 was 18.6–45.6 and 1.7–3.5 h under 1×, 2×, and 4× MIC, respectively. The fractional inhibitory concentration index (FICI) indicated a synergistic effect between rNZ2114 and kanamycin, streptomycin, and vancomycin against S. aureus ATCC 25923 (FICI?=?0.125), and additivity between rNZ2114 and ampicillin, spectinomycin (FICI?=?0.625), respectively. To S. aureus ATCC 43300 [methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA)], rNZ2114 showed a synergistic effect (FICI?=?0.125–0.3125) with kanamycin, ampicillin, streptomycin, and vancomycin, and antagonism with spectinomycin (FICI?=?8.0625). The rNZ2114 caused only less than 0.1 % hemolytic activity in the concentration of 128 μg/ml, and showed a good thermostability from 20 to 80 °C. In addition, it exhibited the highest activity at pH 8.0. These results suggested that large-scale production of NZ2114 is feasible using the P. pastoris expression system, and it could be a new potential antimicrobial agent for the prevention and treatment of S. aureus especially for MRSA infections.  相似文献

Efforts to increase the productivity of microalgal cultures have been focused on the improvement of photobioreactors, but little attention has been paid to the nutritional requirements of microalgae in order to improve culture media formulation. In this study, the main goal was obtaining a high productivity for Tetraselmis suecica (Chlorophyta) in semicontinuous culture by adding magnesium (Mg), silicon (Si), and strontium (Sr) at concentrations from 0.01 to 10 mM; at the time, the effect on steady-state cell density, biochemical composition, and antioxidant activity of T. suecica was evaluated. Because productivity is higher in high-density cultures, the work was focused many times to cell density. Mg (3 mM) and Sr (0.1 mM) added separately reached the highest steady-state cell density (7.0?×?106?±?0.4 cells mL?1) in comparison to control (4.2?±?0.1 cells mL?1), but simultaneous addition had a synergic effect, achieving 8.7?×?106?±?0.6 cells mL?1. Silicon (3 mM) significantly affected the steady-state cell density, reaching 6.0?±?0.3 cells mL?1 and increased the cell ash-free dry weight, reaching 127?±?7.9 pg cell?1 in comparison to control (102.7?±?5.0 pg cell?1), resulting in an ash-free dry weight productivity of 0.75?±?0.07 g?L?1 day?1. The highest fatty acids content and antioxidant activity, measured by 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method were obtained with Sr 10 mM. Sr treatments showed a high correlation (R 2?=?0.98) between DPPH inhibition and polyphenolic content, explaining its high antioxidant activity. Background and aims

Wetlands are important carbon sinks across the planet. However, soil carbon sequestration in tropical freshwater wetlands has been studied less than its counterpart in temperate wetlands. We compared carbon stocks and carbon sequestration in freshwater wetlands with various geomorphic features (estuarine, perilacustrine and depressional) and various plant communities (marshes and swamps) on the tropical coastal plain of the Gulf of Mexico in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. These swamps are dominated by Ficus insipida, Pachira aquatic and Annona glabra and the marshes by Typha domingensis, Thalia geniculata, Cyperus giganteus, and Pontederia sagittata.

Methods

The soil carbon concentration and bulk density were measured every 2 cm along 80 cm soil profiles in five swamps and five marshes. Short-term sediment accretion rates were measured during a year using horizontal makers in three of the five swamps and marshes, the carbon sequestration was calculated using the accretion rates, and the bulk density and the percentage of organic carbon in the surficial layer was measured.

Results

The average carbon concentration ranged from 50 to 150 gC kg?1 in the marshes and 50 to 225 gC kg?1 in the swamps. When the wetlands were grouped according to their geomorphic features, no significant differences in the carbon stock (P?=?0.095) were found (estuarine (25.50?±?2.26 kgC m?2), perilacustrine (28.33?±?2.74 kgC m?2) and depressional wetlands (34.93?±?4.56 kgC m?2)). However, the carbon stock was significantly higher (P?=?0.030) in the swamps (34.96?±?1.3 kgC m?2) than in the marshes (25.85?±?1.19 kgC m?2). The average sediment accretion rates were 1.55?±?0.09 cm yr?1 in the swamps and 0.84?±?0.02 cm yr?1 in the marshes with significant differences (P?=?0.040). The rate of carbon sequestration was higher (P?=?0.001) in swamp soils (0.92?±?0.12 kgC m?2 yr?1) than marsh soils (0.31?±?0.08 kgC m?2 yr?1). Differences in the rates of carbon sequestration associated with geomorphic features were found between the swamp ecosystems (P?<?0.05); i.e., higher values were found in the swamps than in the marshes in perilacustrine and estuarine wetlands (P?<?0.05). However, no significant differences (P?=?0.324) in carbon sequestration rates were found between the marsh and swamp areas of the depressional site.

Conclusions

Swamp soils are more important contributors to the carbon stock and sequestration than are marsh soils, resulting in a reduction in global warming, which suggests that the plant community is an important factor that needs to be considered in global carbon budgets and projects of restoration and conservation of wetlands.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine acute toxicity in the post larvae of the white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei after 96 h of exposure to dissolved arsenic under three different temperatures and salinity conditions. Recent reports have shown an increase in the presence of this metalloid in coastal waters, estuaries, and lagoons along the Mexican coast. The white shrimp stands out for its adaptability to temperature and salinity changes and for being the main product for many commercial fisheries; it has the highest volume of oceanic capture and production in Mexican shrimp farms. Lethal concentrations (LC50–96 h) were obtained at nine different combinations (3?×?3 combinations in total) of temperature (20, 25, and 30 °C) and salinity (17, 25, and 33) showing mean LC50–96 h values (±standard error) of 9.13?±?0.76, 9.17?±?0.56, and 6.23?±?0.57 mgAs?L?1(at 20 °C and 17, 25, and 33 salinity); 12.29?±?2.09, 8.70?±?0.82, and 8.03?±?0.59 mgAs?L?1 (at 25 °C and 17, 25, and 33 salinity); and 7.84?±?1.30, 8.49?±?1.40, and 7.54?±?0.51 mgAs?L?1 (at 30 °C and 17, 25, and 33 salinity), respectively. No significant differences were observed for the optimal temperature and isosmotic point of maintenance (25 °C–S 25) for the species, with respect to the other experimental conditions tested, except for at 20 °C–S 33, which was the most toxic. Toxicity under 20 °C–S 33 conditions was also higher than 25 °C–S 17 and 20 °C (S 17 or 25). The least toxic condition was 25 °C–S 17. All this suggests that the toxic effect of arsenic is not affected by temperature changes; it depends on the osmoregulatory pattern developed by the shrimp, either hyperosmotic at low salinity or hiposmotic at high salinity, as observed at least on the extreme salinity conditions here tested (17 and 33). However, further studies testing salinities near the isosmotic point (between 20 and 30 salinities) are needed to clarify these mechanisms.  相似文献

Value-added abalone Haliotis discus hannai containing bioactive phlorotannins is produced by simply changing the feed to phlorotannin-rich brown seaweed Ecklonia cava 2 weeks prior to harvesting. We assessed the accumulation of phlorotannins by feeding with the seaweed after 4 days of starvation. Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography afforded isolation of the major phlorotannins, which were identified by mass spectrometry and 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance to be 7-phloroeckol and eckol. Throughout the E. cava feeding period of 20 days, 7-phloroeckolol accumulated in the flesh (foot muscle tissue), up to 0.85?±?0.21 mg g?1 dry weight of tissue after 12 days. Eckol reached 0.31?±?0.08 mg g?1 dry tissue after 14 days. Feeding Laminaria japonica as a control, we detected no phlorotannins in the abalone muscle tissue. Abalone seaweed consumption and growth rate were similar when fed with E. cava or L. japonica for 20 days. Reduction in phlorotannins to half-maximal accumulation took 1.0 and 2.7 days for 7-phloroeckol and eckol, respectively, after replacement of the feed with L. japonica.  相似文献
