SYNOPSIS. Eimeria balphae n. sp. is described from the Ord kangaroo rat Dipodomys ordii. The sporulated oocysts are broadly ellipsoidal to ovoid, averaging 16.7 by 14.3 μ. A single, large, homogenous body represents the oocyst residuum. A polar granule is present. There is no micropyle. The ovoid sporocysts average 8.7 by 5.9 μ. The sporocyst residuum is composed of 7–14 round, clear granules. This species of Eimeria was found in 1 of 82 D. ordii in northwestern Utah.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Oocysts of 2 new species of Eimeria are described from the long-tailed porcupine Trichys lipura. The ovoid, 2-layered oocysts of E. lipura average 33.1 by 24.4 μ. A micropyle and polar granules are present; an oocyst residuum is absent. Ovoid sporocysts average 10.9 by 9.3 μ. A sporcyst residuum is present; Stieda body is absent. The subspherical, 3-layered oocyst of E. landersi averages 25.2 by 24.2 μ. An oocyst residuum is absent; a polar granule is present. Ovoid sporocysts average 11.7 by 7.9 μ. Fifteen fecal samples from peacocks (Pavo cristatus) in Saudi Arabia contained oocysts of Eimeria riyadhae n. sp. in two peacocks and oocysts of E. arabica n. sp. in one peacock. Sporulated oocysts of Eimeria riyadhae are ellipsoidal, 27–30.5 times 20.5–25 (28.8 ± 1.3 × 22.4 ± 1.6) μm, with a two-layered wall and bilobed polar body, but without a micropyle or residuum. The sporocysts are ovoid, 11–14.5 × 6.5–8 (13.2 ± 1.2 × 7.2 ± 0.6) μm with a thick, knob-like Stieda body and a residuum. Sporulated oocysts of Eimena arabica are spheroidal, 17.5–21.5 × 17.5–21.5 (19.2 ± 1.6 × 19.2 ± 1.6) μm, with a two-layered wall and two refractile polar bodies, but without a micropyle or residuum. The sporocysts are elongate ovoid, 9.5–12 × 4–6.5 (11.2 ± 0.9 × 5.5 ± 0.88), with a small crescent-shaped Stieda body. The host bird belongs to the order Galliformis.  相似文献

Fecal samples of 36 ground squirrels, Spermophilus beldingi, from Tioga Pass (elev. ca. 3315 m) in the Sierra Nevada, California, yielded oocysts of Eimeria beckeri in nine squirrels, E. citelli in four squirrels, E. beldingii n. sp. in two squirrels, and degenerated, unidentifiable oocysts in ten squirrels. Eimeria beldingii n. sp. oocysts are ellipsoidal, 30–34 × 24–30 (mean 32 × 26) μm with a two-layered, rough, striated wall, without a micropyle or residuum, with polar granules; they contain ellipsoidal or ovoid sporocysts 11–15 × 9–12 (mean 13 × 10) μm with a Stieda body and residuum.  相似文献

Oocysts of Caryospora corallae n. sp. were isolated from the feces of three Emerald Tree Boas Corallus caninus. The spherical oocysts of C. corallae averaged 22.4 μn (range 18.7 to 24.6) in diameter and were lacking a micropyle and oocyst residuum; a polar granule was present. The ovoid sporocysts measured 19.1(17.6-20.0) × 13.1(11.7-14.0) μm and a sporocyst residuum and a Stieda body were present. The oocyst wall was approximately 1 μm thick. The sporulation was completed in about 5–6 days at 23 ± 2°C. This is the first report of the genus Caryospora from Corallus caninus a member of the Boidae.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS Four new eimerian species are described from red-backed voles. Clethrionomys gapperi in Pennsylvania. Sporulated oocysts of Eimeria clethrionomyis sp. n. are ellipsoidal, 18.8 (16.5–21.5) × 14.9 (14.0–16.5) with elongate, ovoid sporocysts, 10.6 (9.5–12.0) × 6.1 (5.5–7.0). The oocyst wall is smooth, with 2 layers, and thins, with terminal cap at one or both ends. Polar granules, dark Stieda body and sporocyst residuum are present. The occyst residuum is absent. Sporulated oocysts of Eimeria gallatii sp. n. are ellipsoidal, 27.7 (21–32) × 19.3 (17–24) with ovoid sporocysts, 13.5 (12–15) × 8.8 (8–10). The oocyst wall is smooth, 2-layered, with a micropyle and thin wall at the end opposite the micropyle. Polar granules. Stieda body and sporocyst residuum are present. The oocyst residuum is atypical, of cobwebby material. Sporulated oocysts of Eimeria pileata sp. n. are subspherical to spherical, 25.2 (20.5–29.5) × 22.5(19.5–25.5) with ellipsoidal sporocysts, 13.4(10.5–15.0) × 8.4 (7.5–9.5). The oocyst wall is rough, pitted, striated, 2-layered, with no micropyle. Polar granules, oocyst and sporocyst residuum. Stieda body and stiedal cap are present. Sporulated oocysts of Eimeria marconii sp. n. are ellipsoidal, 13.0 (10.5–15.0) × 10.6 (9.5–12.0) with elongate, ovoid sporocysts, 7.7 (7.0–8.5) × 4.2 (3.0–4.5). The oocyst wall is smooth, single-layered, with no micropyle. Polar granules, dark Stieda body and sporocyst residuum are present. There is no oocyst residuum.  相似文献

Eimeria dalli sp. n. is described from fecal samples collected from Dall sheep, Ovis dalli, from the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. The oocysts are spherical or subspherical with mean dimensions of 43.7 × 37.4 μm. The outer oocyst wall is rough and irregular. No micropyle, micropylar cap or residuum was observed. Sporocysts were elongate ovoid with mean dimensions of 19.0 × 10.7 μm. Stieda bodies were not discernible.  相似文献

The subspherical single-layered oocysts of I. thavari average 23.8 × 22.8 μm. The polar granule is present; micropyle and oocyst residuum are absent. Ellipsoid sporocysts average 12.8 × 9.4 μm. SYNOPSIS Oocysts of Eimeria dericksoni Roudabush, Eimeria mascoutini Wacha & Christiansen, and Eimeria vesicostieda sp. n. were isolated from the Spiny Soft-shell Turtle, Trionyx spiniferus LeSueur, in Iowa. The sporulated oocysts of E. dericksoni are redescribed to include, for the first time, the dimensions of the sporocysts (6.0–8.5 × 3.0–5.0 μm) and the structural appearance of the Stieda body (thinly convex); the oocysts of E. vesicostieda are newly described as being thickwalled, narrowly ovoid to narrowly ellipsoid, measuring 22.0–25.5 × 16.5–20.5 μm. and having a polar granule, a sporocyst residuum, and a vesicle-like Stieda body; the oocysts of E. mascoutini are documented photographically.  相似文献

Eimeria tahamensis n. sp. is described from the harlequin quail (Coturnix delegorguei arabica) from Tahama, Saudi Arabia. The sporulated oocysts of E. tahamensis n. sp. are ellipsoid, 36.5–42 × 25.5–29 (41.2 ± 1.34 × 28.4 ± 0.81) μm, with a thick two-layered wall and one polar granule but without a micropyle or an oocyst residuum. The sporocysts are ovoid, 14–16 × 9–11.5 (15.3 ± 0.7 × 10.8 ± 0.64) μm, with a knob-like Stieda body and sporocyst residuum, but without a substiedal body. A sporocyst residuum and Stieda body are present. The ovoid, 2-layered oocysts of E. edwardsi average 29.1 by 21.8 μ. A micropyle is present; a polar granule is absent. Ellipsoidal to ovoid sporocysts average 14.5 by 6.5 μ. A sporocyst residuum is present; Stieda body is small or absent. E. surifer n. sp. is described from the red spiny rat Rattus surifer. Its ellipsoidal 3-layered oocysts average 34.7 by 24.8 μ. A micropyle is absent; a polar granule is present. The ellipsoidal sporocysts average 15.4 by 9.5 μ. A sporocyst residuum, Stieda body and sub-Stieda body are present. E. sabani n. sp. is described from the long-tailed giant rat R. sabanus. Its ellipsoidal 2-layered oocysts average 28.5 by 21.7 μ. A micropyle is absent; a polar granule is present. The ellipsoidal-to-ovoid sporocysts average 11.9 by 8.0 μ. A sporocyst residuum and Stieda body are present.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Eimeria ochrogasteri n. sp. (Coccidia, Eimeriidae) from a prairie vole Microtus ochrogaster (Rodentia, Cricetidae) is described. This is the first recorded coccidium in prairie voles. Sporulated oocysts spherical to ellipsoidal, mean 24.0 by 20.5 μ. Oocyst wall double, outer layer thick, yellow-brown, deeply pitted, inner layer clear. Oocyst residuum varies from many small globules to a coalesced group of large and/or small globules. Polar granule present. Micropyle absent. Sporocysts ovoid with “capped” Stieda body, mean 12.3 by 8.2 μ. Sporocyst residuum present. Sporozoites average 14.9 by 2.9 μ with spherical anterior and oblong posterior refractile globules. SYNOPSIS The oocysts of 2 new species of Eimeria are described from heteromyid rodents. The subspherical to ellipsoidal cocysts of Eimeria reedi from Perognathus formosus averaged 22.6 by 20.8 μ. An ellipsoidal polar granule was present. The oocyst residuum was a single globule about 8 μ in diameter. The ovoid sporocysts averaged 10.9 by 7.7 μ and had a residuum of 6-12 granules. A Stieda body and substiedal body were present in the sporocysts. Eimeria chobotari oocysts, from Dipodomys merriami and D. microps , were ellipsoidal to ovoid and averaged 47.7 by 35.2 μ. No polar granule was seen. The large oocyst residuum consisted of several granules of various sizes. The ovoid sporocysts averaged 15.8 by 11.3 μ and had a residuum of many small granules. SYNOPSIS. Forty grey squirrels Sciurus carolinensis were examined for coccidia during a 2-year period. Eimeria lancasterensis was found in all of them. The ellipsoidal oocysts of this species averaged 24.6 by 14.6 μ. They had no micropyle or oocyst residuum. A polar body was present. The sporocysts averaged 14.1 by 8.4 μ. The endogenous phases of the parasite were found in the epithelial cells of the villi thru the entire length of the small intestine. E. confusa was found in one of 40 squirrels. The oocysts of this species were subspherical, occasionally ellipsoidal or rarely spherical; they averaged 33.2 by 26.7 μ. Oocyst residuum and micropyle were absent. Polar granules ranged in number from 0–5. The sporocysts averaged 19.6 by 12.1 μ. The prepatent period for this species was 7–8 days and the patent period 6–13 days. E. ontarioensis was found in 3 of the 40 squirrels.  相似文献

Eimeria bateri Bhatia, Pandey, Pande, 1965 is described from the Hungarian quail Coturnix c. coturnix for the first time in the U.S. Its oocysts are either ellipsoidal or ovoid, 14–28 by 12–19 μ with a mean of 20.5 by 15.3 μ. Its sporocysts are elongate ovoid, with a Stieda body, 8–12 by 6–9 μ with a mean of 10.3 by 7.5 μ. Two coccidia-free chicks 8 days old were inoculated with 50,000 oocysts each of E. bateri, but patent infections did not occur. This coccidium is therefore presumably host-specific.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Three new species of coccidia are described from the alpaca Lama pacos from Peru. These are the first species of coccidia to be named from this host. SYNOPSIS. Eimeria tenggilingi is described from the pangolin or scaly anteater, Manis javanica, in Malaysia. The spheroid to subspheroid oocysts average 18.9 × 17.8 μm. The oocyst wall is composed of 3 layers, each ~ 0.6 μm thick. The 2 outer layers are striated and yellowish green. The inner layer is dark brown. One or 2 polar granules are present, but an oocyst residuum is absent. Ellipsoid sporocysts average 12.4 × 6.2 μm. A sporocyst residuum is present. Eimeria gozaishoensis n. sp. was found in the Formosan serow (Capricornis crispus swinhoei). The oocysts were ovoid, 29.41 +/- 0.58 x 20.77 +/- 0.41 microns with a bilayered wall. A micropyle and micropylar cap were observed, but a polar granule and oocyst residuum were absent. Sporocysts were ovoid, 11.78 +/- 0.30 x 7.60 +/- 0.31 microns, with sporocyst residuum and Stieda body. The new species differs from other known species of the genus by the morphology of oocysts and that domestic goats apparently could not be infected. The sporulation time was 6 to 7 days.  相似文献
