Trichomycterus barbouri (Eigenmann, 1911) is redescribed based on adult and juvenile specimens, and is distinguished from all congeners by external and osteological characters. The species previously known only from the type locality Beni river in Bolivia, is recorded here the first time for Argentina, from localities in the provinces of Tucumán, Catamarca, Córdoba and Salta. T. barbouri is compared with some Argentinian congeners.  相似文献

Chemical biodiversity of essential oils of natural populations of Aloysia citrodora Palau (“lemon verbena”, “cedrón”) in Northwestern Argentina was assessed by collecting in the same sites through different years. A total of 36 samples were collected in the Provinces of Salta (El Maray, La Paya, El Sunchal, El Alisal, Chorrillos), Jujuy (Chilcayo, San Roque), Catamarca (Mutquin, Colana) and Tucumán (Amaicha del Valle) in Argentina.Essential oils were obtained by hydrodistillation (Clevenger) of naturally air-dried plant material. Yields ranged from 0.16% to 1.93% (v/w), being the highest those of the collections of Mutquin. More than 65 compounds were identified by CG-FID-MS. Only 19 of these constituents, accounting from 77.3 to 98.9% of the total oil, present in more than 4.0% in at least one sample, were considered as variables for statistical analysis. Agglomerative Hierarchical Cluster analysis was conducted, showing at 65% of similarity, five groups. This grouping was in direct accordance to the biosynthetic pathways of main compounds (chemotypes). In the two sites of Jujuy, 21 collections evidenced four different chemotypes, named after the dominant component as follows: thujones, citronellal, carvone, and citral (neral + geranial). In the populations of Salta and Catamarca, linalool appeared as a new different chemotype.Though cedron is considered as a citral-bearing plant, curiously, in the 36 samples collected in the NW of Argentina, only two samples contained citral as main constituent. On the other hand, a dominance of citronellal and thujones compositions were found in the bulk of the samples collected, while others had very high content of linalool or carvone and its derivatives. Northwestern Argentina has repeatedly been mentioned as the center of biodiversity of this species. The new evidences found on the chemical biodiversity of essential oils of Aloysia citrodora in natural populations in this region, reinforce firmly this idea.  相似文献

Differences in biological features of immature and adult Aedes aegypti, as well as variability in vector competence, seem consistent with the existence of genetic variation among subpopulations and adaptation to local conditions. This work aims to compare the bionomics of four Ae. aegypti subpopulations derived from different geographical regions reared under temperate conditions. Life statistics of three Ae. aegypti subpopulations from the provinces of Córdoba, Salta, and Misiones were studied based on horizontal life tables. The Rockefeller strain was used as a control. The development time required to complete the larva and pupa stages varied from 6.91 to 7.95 and 1.87 to 2.41 days, respectively. Significant differences were found in mean larval development time between the Córdoba and Orán subpopulations. The larva‐pupa development time was similar in all the subpopulations. However, survival values varied significantly between the Orán and San Javier subpopulations. The proportion of emergent males did not differ from females within each subpopulation nor among them. Adult longevity was similar among the subpopulations. The average number of eggs laid by each female was significantly different. The Rockefeller strain laid a significantly greater number of eggs (463.99 eggs/female) than the rest of the subpopulations. Moreover, differences in the demographic growth parameter Ro were detected among the four subpopulations. The differences obtained in larval development time, larva‐pupa survival values, and net reproductive rates among the subpopulations might reflect underlying genetic differences as a result of colonization from different regions that probably involve adaptations to local conditions.  相似文献

We studied five population samples from Argentina, four drawn from Native American groups of the northeast region (Wichí, Pilagá, Toba, and Mbyá-Guaraní) and one from two small villages of the Córdoba province. In this study we report genotypes and allele frequencies of the 9.1-kb insertion-deletion polymorphism located on chromosome 22. The frequency of the deletion allele ranges from 0.276 in the Mbyá-Guaraní to 0.470 in the Pilagá. The coefficient of population differentiation is fairly low (F(ST) = 0.013), does not reflect any geographic or linguistic pattern, and seems to be more related to stochastic processes than to directional forces.  相似文献

Bunyamwera virus (BUNV) (Bunyaviridae, genus Orthobunyavirus, serogroup Bunyamwera) is considered an emerging pathogen for humans and animals in American countries. The CbaAr‐426 strain of BUNV was recovered from mosquitoes Ochlerotatus albifasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae) collected in Córdoba province (Argentina), where serological studies detected high seroprevalences in humans and animals. Molecular detection of Orthobunyavirus was performed in mosquitoes collected in Córdoba province. Seventeen mosquito pools of Oc. albifasciatus, Ochlerotatus scapularis and Culex quinquefasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae) showed positive results; four of these positive pools, all of Oc. scapularis, were sequenced. All amplicons grouped with BUNV in the Bunyamwera serogroup. The findings highlight the circulation of BUNV in Córdoba province and represent the first report of BUNV‐infected Oc. scapularis mosquitoes in Argentina.  相似文献

Aim This paper reports the presence of Artemia franciscana ( Kellogg, 1906 ) in Mar Chiquita (CHI) salt lake and in Las Tunas (TUN) lagoon, as well as at a shallow lake in Salinas Grandes (Province of Córdoba) in Argentina. To date, this species has been considered absent from Argentina. This study also provides further data on the characterization of the A. franciscana populations from this area. Location Province of Córdoba (Argentina). Methods The cyst samples collected at the three hypersaline environments were measured to assess its mean diameter with a dissecting microscope. The length of the nauplii hatched from the cysts was also determined with the microscope. The adults raised from these nauplii under strictly controlled conditions were analysed for 12 morphological parameters and compared through multivariate discriminant analysis with other American populations. Fatty acids from the total lipids were analysed by gas chromatography. Reproductive compatibility was evaluated from single‐pair intraspecific and interspecific crosses of adult specimens. Results The results endorse the morphometric assimilation of the Artemia populations of this area to other American populations of the A. franciscana‘super‐species’, together with its morphometric differentiation from the species A. persimilis ( Piccinelli & Prosdocimi, 1968 ). The more conspicuous population from CHI shows cross‐fertility with A. franciscana original from San Francisco Bay (California, USA). Both populations from CHI and TUN show cross‐fertility between them and reproductive isolation with A. persimilis from Hidalgo (Province of La Pampa), which to date is considered to be endemic or exclusive of hypersaline ecosystems in Argentina. The reproductive characteristics displayed by the population from TUN lagoon suggest the existence of an occasional hybridization between A. franciscana and A. persimilis ( Papeschi et al., 2000 ). Artemia cysts from CHI and TUN show a fatty acid profile rich in eicosapentaenoic acid differing markedly from the fatty acid profiles found in A. persimilis cysts. Main conclusions: Artemia franciscana is present in Argentina at 36° S and north of this latitude. Artemia persimilis is confined to the south of latitude 37°10′ S. There are different pieces of evidence that point to a certain level of hybridization of the two species taking place in the land belt between these parallels.  相似文献

Different PCR-DGGE protocols were evaluated to monitor fermentation process and to investigate bacterial communities developed in two artisanal Argentinean fermented sausages. Bacterial universal primers frequently used in PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) were evaluated. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and staphylococci species isolated from Tucumán sausages were used to determine the experimental conditions for PCR amplification and DGGE differentiation. Total microbial DNA extracted directly from both fermented sausages was subjected to DGGE analysis. PCR-DGGE results were different for each set of primers used. Primers Bact-0124f(GC)-Uni-0515r and V1f(GC)-V1r showed to be efficient to differentiate LAB and Staphylococcus cultures while the set V3f(GC)-Uni-0515r allowed to demonstrate the succession of different Lactobacillus and Staphylococcus species during ripening process. An intense band corresponding to Lactobacillus sakei was observed to be present in both samples. Staphylococcus saprophyticus was only observed in Tucumán sausage while a band identified as Brochothrix thermophacta was detected in Córdoba sausage. PCR-DGGE analysis of different 16S rDNA amplicons was able to discriminate between LAB and Gram-positive, coagulase-negative cocci, resulting an effective tool to establish the microbiota developed in artisanal dry sausages.  相似文献

Plant defensive mechanisms against herbivores include chemical changes following damage. Effects of feeding punctures produced by Liriomyza huidobrensis (pea leafminers) adult females on the plant's dominant monoterpenes, pulegone and menthone were assessed by monitoring essential oil composition at 24, 48, and 120 h; emission of volatiles was also measured 24 and 48 h after wounding. We studied such changes in Minthostachys mollis, a Lamiaceae species native to Central Argentina with medicinal and aromatic uses. Leaf puncturing resulted in reduced menthone throughout the experiment and increased pulegone concentration in M. mollis essential oil during the first 48 h. The adjacent undamaged leaves showed similar changes, suggesting a systemic response. Composition of volatiles released from damaged leaves was also altered, most noticeably by increasing pulegone and diminishing menthone emissions. Such herbivore-induced chemical changes in aromatic plants are economically relevant, since the quality of essential oils and volatile emissions are altered.  相似文献

Surnames analysis is useful for populations in which only written documents remain, as is the case for historical populations. In Córdoba province, Argentina, census records contain nominal data of inhabitants, including information on sex, age, ethnosocial category, civil status, occupation, place of birth, and residence, that can be analyzed using surnames. Relationship indicators within and among ecclesiastic units in Córdoba were estimated by isonymy for the adult white population registered in the 1813 census. The Rii, Rij, and R(ST) coefficients and the surname abundance indicator (a) were calculated. Lasker's distances among categories of population units were used to cluster the 16 provincial population categories. Gradients for kinship within population and for surname diversity were in agreement with the principal areas and waves of original settlement in the province. The main population clusters reflect those areas, whereas minor clusters coincide with the network of roads existing in the territory by 1813. The structure of the white population in Córdoba province was determined by the geographic location of the original waves of settlement, and it followed a pattern of relationships conditioned by the routes connecting population units in the Colonial period.  相似文献

Predatory Reduviidae (Apiomerus sp.) feeding on a small Lygaeidae in a Chaco Serrano forest from Córdoba, Argentina. In the last decades, agricultural intensification and urbanization led to the loss of more than 95% of these native forests. This strongly affected insect biodiversity, particularly of natural enemies that provide the ecosystem service of pest control. There is an urgent need to maintain remnants of natural ecosystems in order to conserve the vast diversity of insects that depends on them (see pages 891–901). ObjectiveTo determine whether environmental perchlorate exposure adversely affects thyroid function in women in the first trimester of pregnancy.MethodsFirst-trimester pregnant women were recruited from prenatal clinics in the Los Angeles County Hospital, Los Angeles, California, and in the Hospital Universitario de Maternidad dependent Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Córdoba, Argentina, between 2004 and 2007. Spot urine and blood specimens were obtained during the clinic visit. Urinary perchlorate, iodine, and creatinine were measured, and thyroid function tests were performed.ResultsThe study included 134 pregnant women from Los Angeles, California (mean gestational age ± SD = 9.1 ± 2.2 weeks), and 107 pregnant women from Córdoba, Argentina (mean gestational age = 10.0 ± 2.0 weeks). Median urinary iodine values were 144 mg/L in California and 130 mg/L in Argentina. Urinary perchlorate levels were detectable in all women (California: median, 7.8 mg/L [range, 0.4-284 mg/L] and Argentina: median, 13.5 mg/L [range, 1.1-676 mg/L]). Serum thyroperoxidase antibodies were detectable in 21 women from California (16%) and in 17 women from Argentina (16%). Using Spearman rank correlation analyses, there was no association between urinary perchlorate concentrations and serum thyrotropin, free thyroxine index, or total triiodothyronine values, including within the subset of women with urinary iodine values less than 100 mg/L. In multivariate analyses using the combined Argentina and California data sets and adjusting for urinary iodine concentrations, urinary creatinine, gestational age, and thyroperoxidase antibody status, urinary perchlorate was not a significant predictor of thyroid function.ConclusionsLow-level perchlorate exposure is ubiquitous, but is not associated with altered thyroid function among women in the first trimester of pregnancy. Broomrapes are holoparasitic plants which infect faba bean (Vicia faba L.), among other legumes. Here, we aimed to identify and validate quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for broomrape resistance in the cross 29H × Vf136 and to investigate the existence of common and specific genomic regions against Orobanche crenata and O. foetida. A genetic map including 171 markers was constructed for QTL analyses. Field trials for O. crenata were conducted during three consecutive seasons at Córdoba (Spain) and in a single season at Kafr El-Sheikh (Egypt). QTL analysis for O. foetida was performed using data from a single season at Beja (Tunisia). Seven QTLs for O. crenata were identified. Oc7 on chromosome VI was detected over 3 years at Córdoba, explaining between 22 and 33 % of the phenotypic variation, which make it the most promising candidate for future marker-assisted breeding for broomrape resistance in faba bean. O. crenata QTLs identified at Kafr El-Sheikh did not co-localize with those identified in Córdoba. Environmental differences together with the diversity of parasitic populations between locations may account for the discrepancy. Three QTLs for O. foetida were detected. Co-localization of Oc8 and Of3 in chromosome V confirms a common resistance against both O. crenata and O. foetida, as previously reported.  相似文献

Comparative ecological and aerobiological analyses of ornamental urban flora in the cities of Córdoba (Spain) and Ascoli Piceno (Italy) identified a group of plants with allergenic pollen whose behaviour is influenced by a number of factors. The geographical position and the resulting climate of both cities favoured the presence of Mediterranean species. In Córdoba, strongly allergenic evergreens introduced during the Moorish period predominated (Cupressus sempervirens, among others), while in the urban area of Ascoli Piceno, Pinaceae were abundant. In both cities, many species of American origin have been introduced for aesthetic reasons, contributing to an increase in the overall allergenicity of urban greenery. The pollen spectrum differed between the two cities: airborne Oleaceae and Cupressaceae pollen abounded in Córdoba, whilst allergenic pollen from surrounding natural environments (Corylaceae) predominated in Ascoli Piceno. These results pointed to a large number of potentially allergenic species in cities, thus highlighting the importance of greater ecological and aerobiological knowledge of allergenic species of urban ornamental flora. Avoidance of more allergenic species when planning new urban green areas could ensure healthier environments for pollen-allergy sufferers.  相似文献

The Suquía River middle-lower basin (Córdoba, Argentina) is subjected to a strong anthropogenic impact because it receives pollutants from different sources. The main goal of this study was to evaluate the introduced fish species Gambusia affinis as a bioindicator of environmental pollution in the middle-lower basin of the Suquía River. The assessment was performed by measuring biomarkers at different levels of biological organization, at two sampling sites (before and after Córdoba city), and at dry and wet seasons. Water quality evaluation was made through a water-quality index (based on physico-chemical parameters), heavy-metals and pesticides concentrations in water. The water quality varied between sampling sites, showing the most degraded conditions downstream Córdoba city. The same pattern of variation was detected in the biomarkers studied, mainly in: gill and liver histopathological indexes, copulatory organ (gonopodium) morphology and vitellogenin expression in males and females. The present study characterized the environmental conditions in the middle-lower basin of the Suquía River and revealed the low freshwater quality at the most polluted site. Although G. affinis is an introduced species, it could be considered a good sentinel of water resource quality of invaded Neotropical basins. Our results demonstrated the importance of addressing the environmental quality monitoring through an integrated analysis of water quality parameters together with histological, morphological and molecular parameters. Thus, our study provides a good model for application in other basins of South America.  相似文献

Medicinal plant extraction is a relevant issue in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. A quantitative methodology is proposed for the evaluation of conservation priorities for species used in popular medicine in the Paravachasca Valley, Córdoba. Qualitative attributes were surveyed through the knowledge and perception of local communities. Species are ranked by their index of conservation priority (ICP) values. This index takes into consideration the following data: harvest, abundance, propagation method, origin and commercial demand of species in the area. Among the native species prioritized for conservation are Minthostachys mollis, Hedeoma multiflora, Julocroton argenteus, Baccharis crispa, Trixis divaricata subsp. discolor, Passiflora caerulea, Usnea spp. and Equisetum giganteum.  相似文献

A taxonomical rearrangement of “Aemiliapagana species-group is proposed: Leucanopsis pagana (Schaus in Proc Zool Soc London 1894:225–243, 1894) comb. nov. and L. ninae (Orfila in Rev Soc Entomol Argent 21:67–70, 1959) comb. nov. A new endemic species from Pampa de Achala, Córdoba, Argentina, closer to both species, is described: Leucanopsis navarroi sp. nov. These three species can be recognized because the color pattern is the darkest among species of Leucanopsis. Characteristics of male genitalia suggest the nomenclatural rearrangement proposed. Leucanopsis pagana comb. nov. has a wide distribution from the center of Brazil to northeastern Argentina, including southern Paraguay. The known distribution and geospatial analysis suggest that this species is not in danger. Leucanopsis ninae comb. nov. is restricted to only one known locality (Villa Gesell, Buenos Aires). The restricted known distribution, the different land use practices, and geospatial analysis suggest that this species could be endangered. Leucanopsis navarroi sp. nov. is endemic to the high plateau present in the center of Argentina called Pampa de Achala. The known distribution and geospatial analysis suggest that this species could be endangered. Further studies are necessary to determine effectively the conservation status of these three species.  相似文献

Brewing industry by-products are important animal feedstuff alternatives for local swine producers in Córdoba, Argentina. The high content of nutrients makes these by-products vulnerable to bacterial and fungal contamination. The objectives of the present study were (1) to determine the presence of Aspergillus section Flavi in brewer’s grain used to feed pigs and (2) to evaluate the incidence of aflatoxin B1 in the substrate. Total fungal count of most samples exceeded the levels proposed as feed quality limits, and most Aspergillus section Flavi strains found were able to produce high amounts of AFB1 in vitro. However, the incidence of AFB1 was low. The presence of contamination by aflatoxicogenic species in feedstuff might affect the productivity of swine producers and indirectly represents a public health issue.  相似文献

The natural occurrence of entomophathogenic fungi infecting spittlebugs (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) considered serious pests to pasture grasses and crops in Argentina was investigated during summer?autumn (December to May) from 2013 to 2016. Adults and nymphs of spittlebugs were collected from Sorghum halepense and Setaria parviflora var. parviflora in San Miguel de Tucumán, Tucumán province. The entomopathogenic fungal species were characterized on the basis of morphological keys and molecular techniques. Microscopic characters were described from material mounted in lactophenol/aceto‐orcein (1% w/v), and the amplification of the fungal SSU rDNA was carried out using the universal primers nu‐SSU‐0021‐5′ and nu‐SSU‐1780‐3′. Summarized information about occurrence of fungal infections on spittlebugs populations is provided. This study reports for the first time the occurrence of the genus Pandora infecting adults of the economically important spittlebugs Deois (Deois) mourei, D. (D.) knoblauchii, Isozulia christenseni christenseni and Notozulia entreriana from Argentina expanding the host range and geographical distribution of entomophthoralean fungi.  相似文献
