The DFT-B3LYP and MP2 methods with 6-311G** and 6-311++G** basis sets have been applied to study the complexation energies of the host-guest complexes between the cone calix[4]arene and Li+ or Na+ on the B3LYP optimized geometries. A comparison of the complexation energies obtained from the MP2(full) with those from MP2(fc) method is also carried out. The result shows that it is essential to introduce the diffuse basis set into the geometry optimizations and complexation energy calculations of the alkali-metal cation-π interaction complexes of calix[4]arene, and the D e values show a maximum of 21.13 kJ mol−1 (14.45% of relative error) between the MP2(full)/6-311++G** and MP2(fc)/6-311++G** method. For Li+ cation, the complexation is mainly energetically stabilized by the lower rim/cation (namely O–Li+) interaction. However, binding energies and NBO analyses confirm that Na+ cation prefers to enter the calix[4]arene cavity and the cation-π interaction is predominant, which contradicts the previous low-level theoretical studies. Furthermore, the complexation with Li+ is preferred over that with Na+ by at least 12.70 kJ mol−1 at MP2(full)/6-311++G**//B3LYP/6-311++G** level.   相似文献

The structural stability of halocarbonyl azides CXO-NNN (X=F, Cl and Br) was investigated by DFT and MP2 calculations using the 6-311++G** basis set. From the calculations, the molecules were found to have an s-cis<--> s-trans conformational equilibrium with cis being the lower -energy form. Full energy optimizations were carried out for the transition states and the minima at the B3LYP/6 -311++G** and MP2/6 -311++G** levels, from which the rotational barriers were calculated to be of the order 8-10 kcal x mol(-1). The vibrational frequencies were computed at the DFT -B3LYP level and the vibrational assignments for the normal modes of the stable conformers were made on the basis of normal coordinate calculations.  相似文献

The effect of microsolvation on zwitterionic glycine, considering both (-NH3(+)) as proton donor and (-COO(-)) as proton acceptor at correlated ab initio (MP2) level and density functional methods (B3LYP, PW91, MPW1PW91 and PBE) using 6-311++G** basis set has been reported. DFT methods have been employed so as to compare the performance/quality of different gradient-corrected correlation functionals (PW91, PBE), hybrid functionals (B3LYP, MPW1PW91) and to predict the near quantitative structural and vibrational properties, at reduced computational cost. B3LYP method outperforms among the different DFT methods for the computed hydrogen bond distances and found closer to the value obtained by correlated MP2 level, whereas MPW1PW91 and PBE methods shows very similar values but approximately 0.03 A less, compared to B3LYP method. MP2 calculation and single point CCSD(T)//MP2 calculation have been considered to decompose the interaction energy, including corrections for basis set superposition error (BSSE). Moreover, charge distribution analysis has also been carried out to understand the long raised questions, how and why the two body energies have significant contribution to the total binding energy.  相似文献

Five stable H-bonded complexes (supersystems) between acetylacetone and two methanol molecules were investigated at the B3LYP and HF levels of theory using the 6-311G** and 6-11++G** basis sets. The most stable complex was found as the one with the highest relative bonding and interaction energies. All vibrational frequencies resulting from calculations with the 6-311++G** basis set were compared with the recorded IR spectrum of acetylacetone/methanol mixture in a molar ratio 1:2.  相似文献

A computational chemistry analysis of six unique tautomers of cyromazine, a pesticide used for fly control, was performed with density functional theory (DFT) and canonical second-order Møller–Plesset perturbation theory (MP2) methods to gain insight into the contributions of molecular structure to detection properties. Full geometry optimisation using the 6-311++G** basis set provided energetic properties, natural charges, frontier orbitals and vibrational modes. Excitation energies were obtained using time-dependent DFT. Hydrogen location and bond order contribute significantly to the electronic properties. The common cyromazine tautomer possesses the lowest energy, highest band gap energy and highest excitation energy. B3LYP/6-31G** dynamics simulations indicate each tautomer possesses a stable structure with limited rotation about the single bonds. Tautomerisation involving intramolecular hydrogen transfer influences the natural charges of neighbouring atoms and the frontier orbital properties. The excitation energies are highly correlated with band gap energies of the frontier orbitals. The calculated infrared and Raman spectra are suitable for vibrational assignments associated with the chemical structure. The tautomeric forms of cyromazine possess similar spatial properties and significant variation in electronic properties.  相似文献

The optimized geometries, harmonic vibrational frequencies, and energies of the structures of monohydrated alloxan were computed at the DFT/ωB97X-D and B3LYP/6–311++G** level of theory. Results confirm that the monohydrate exists as a dipolar alloxan–water complex which represents a global minimum on the potential energy surface (PES). Trajectory dynamics simulations show that attempt to reorient this monohydrate, to a more favorable orientation for H-bonding, is opposed by an energy barrier of 25.07?kJ/mol. Alloxan seems to prefer acting as proton donor than proton acceptor. A marked stabilization due to the formation of N–H–OH2 bond is observed. The concerted proton donor–acceptor interaction of alloxan with one H2O molecule does not increase the stability of the alloxan–water complex. The proton affinity of the O and N atoms and the deprotonation enthalpy of the NH bond of alloxan are computed at the same level of theory. Results are compared with recent data on uracil, thymine, and cytosine. The intrinsic acidities and basicities of the four pyrimidines were discussed. Results of the present study reveal that alloxan is capable of forming stronger H-bonds and more stable cyclic complex with water; yet it is of much lower basicity than other pyrimidines.  相似文献

The effect of substitution by the fluorine atom at different positions of D-glucose was investigated by quantum chemical calculation of the low-energy conformers. These were obtained through the Random conformational search method. The geometries of conformers were optimized at the RHF/6-31(d) level, then reoptimization and vibrational analysis were performed at the B3LYP/6-31+G(d) level. Single-point energies were calculated at the B3LYP/6-311++G(2d,2p) level. The free energies of solvation in water were calculated utilizing the AM1-SM5.4 solvation model. For all substitution positions, the ring conformation does not change much, and the pyranoid 4C1 conformers are dominant, while variations in the substitution site result in different effects in the network of hydrogen bonds, anomeric effect, the solvation free energy, and the ratio of alpha- and beta-anomers.  相似文献

The tautomerization mechanism the isolated and monohydrated forms of two Schiff bases 1 and 2, and the effect of solvation on the proton transfer from enol-imine form to the keto-enamine form have been investigated using the B3LYP hybrid density functional method at the 6-31G** basis set level. The barrier heights for H2O-assisted reactions are significantly lower than that of unassisted tautomerization reaction in the gas phase. Nonspecific solvent effects have also been taken into account by using the continuum model (IPCM) of four different solvent. The tautomerization energies and the potential energy barriers are decreased by increasing solvent polarity. The conformational stability and vibrational infrared and Raman spectra of trichloroacetyl isocyanate (CCl3CONCO) were investigated by ab initio MP2 and density functional B3LYP calculations using the 6-311++G** basis set. From the potential energy scans of the internal rotations in both the halomethyl and the isocyanate rotors, the molecule was predicted to exist predominantly in the cis-cis conformation. The steric hindrance between the halomethyl group and the nitrogen lone-pair was found to favor the staggered configuration for the chlorine atom, while conjugation effects favor the planar configuration for the C=O and the NCO groups. Vibrational wavenumbers were computed for the molecule at the DFT-B3LYP/6-311++G** level. Normal coordinate calculations were carried out to obtain the potential energy distributions (PED) among the symmetry coordinates of the normal modes for the molecule. The theoretical vibrational assignments were compared with experimental ones and ratios of observed to calculated wavenumbers of about 0.97-1.04 were obtained.  相似文献

B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of theory is used to carry out a detailed gas phase conformational analysis of non-ionized (neutral) pyrrolysine molecule about its nine internal back-bone torsional angles. A total of 13 minima are detected from potential energy surface exploration corresponding to the nine internal back-bone torsional angles. These minima are then subjected to full geometry optimization and vibrational frequency calculations at B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p) level. Characteristic intramolecular hydrogen bonds present in each conformer, their relative energies, theoretically predicted vibrational spectra, rotational constants and dipole moments are systematically reported. Single point calculations are carried out at B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) and MP2/6-31++G(d,p) levels. Six types of intramolecular H-bonds, viz. O…H–O, N…H-O, O…H–N, N…H–N, O…H–C and N…H–C, are found to exist in the pyrrolysine conformers; all of which contribute to the stability of the conformers. The vibrational frequencies are found to shift invariably toward the lower side of frequency scale corresponding to the presence of intramolecular H-bond interactions in the conformers.  相似文献

A random walk on the PES for (MeSH)4 clusters produced 50 structural isomers held together by hydrogen-bonding networks according to calculations performed at the B3LYP/6–311++G** and MP2/6–311++G** levels. The geometric motifs observed are somewhat similar to those encountered for the methanol tetramer, but the interactions responsible for cluster stabilization are quite different in origin. Cluster stabilization is not related to the number of hydrogen bonds. Two distinct, well-defined types of hydrogen bonds scattered over a wide range of distances are predicted.

For the first time the mutarotation mechanism of furanose rings has been investigated, with and without solvent. The transformations from open-chain furanose to d-erythrose and d-threose have been studied at B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) and G3MP2B3 levels, in vacuum and in solution through continuum solvation models. We studied the catalytic influence of one, two or three water molecules, as well as simplified models of carbohydrates, that is, methanol and 1,2-ethanediol. Water molecules significantly reduce the energy barrier of the hemiacetal formation occurring between the open-chain and furanose configurations. The energy barrier is optimally reduced by two water molecules. Methanol yields a smaller transition state barrier than the one obtained with a single water molecule. In contrast, 1,2-ethanediol does not provide a lower transition state compared to the barrier in the presence of two water molecules.  相似文献

The tautomerism of uracil, 5-fluorouracil, and thymine has been investigated in the gas phase and in solution. Electron correlation effects were included in ab initio computations at the MP2 level, and DFT calculations were performed using the B3LYP level. Full geometry optimizations were conducted at the HF/6-31G**, HF/6-31+G**, and B3LYP/6-31+G** levels. Single-point MP2/6-31+G** calculations were performed on the HF/6-31+G** optimized geometries. The influence of the solvent was examined from self-consistent reaction field calculations performed with )=2.21 (1,4-dioxane) and )=78.54 (water). The calculated relative free energies ((G) indicate that substitution of uracil at the position group does not change the relative free energy order of the uracil tautomers in the gas phase and in 1,4-dioxane (except at the MP2 level) whereas this ordering changes in water. Attachment of a fluorine atom changes the relative free energy order of uracil tautomers in the gas phase and in solution.  相似文献

Extensive DFT and ab initio calculations were performed to characterize the conformational space of pamidronate, a typical pharmaceutical for bone diseases. Mono-, di- and tri-protic states of molecule, relevant for physiological pH range, were investigated for both canonical and zwitterionic tautomers. Semiempirical PM6 method were used for prescreening of the single bond rotamers followed by geometry optimizations at the B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p) and B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) levels. For numerous identified low energy conformers the final electronic energies were determined at the MP2/6-311++G(2df,2p) level and corrected for thermal effects at B3LYP level. Solvation effects were also considered via the COSMO and C-PCM implicit models. Reasonable agreement was found between bond lengths and angle values in comparison with X-ray crystal structures. Relative equilibrium populations of different conformers were determined from molecular partition functions and the role of electronic, vibrational and rotational degrees of freedom on the stability of conformers were analyzed. For no level of theory is a zwitterionic structure stable in the gas-phase while solvation makes them available depending on the protonation state. Geometrically identified intramolecular hydrogen bonds were analyzed by QTAIM approach. All conformers exhibit strong inter-phosphonate hydrogen bonds and in most of them the alkyl-amine side chain is folded on the P-C-P backbone for further hydrogen bond formation.

Hydronium tetrafluoroborate ion pairs, H3O+·BF4 - have been shown computationally to be unstable toward decomposition, in the absence of solvation or electrostatic interactions existing in crystals. As the proton NMR spectrum of a hydronium salt with the octanesulfonate-antimony pentachloride complex anion was reported in freon solution, we investigated the hypothesis that larger ionic clusters were present in the nonpolar solvent. It was found that the dimer (H3O+·BF4 -)2 was stable at the MP2/6-31G* level. GIAO-B3LYP chemical shift calculations with the same basis set and also with the 6-31G**, 6-31++G**, 6-311++G**, dzvp, tzp, tz2p, and qz2p basis sets conducted on the hydronium fluoroborate dimer reproduce the main features of the experimental spectrum: the existence of two signals with a two-to-one intensity ratio and the more intense resonance at higher frequency (more deshielded). The alternative structures, of hydronium tetrafluoroborate ion pairs with one and with two hydrogen bonds between anion and cation, give calculated chemical shifts which are farther from the experimental values.  相似文献

In order to gain deeper insight into structure, charge distribution, and energies of A-T base pairs, we have performed quantum chemical ab initio and density functional calculations at the HF (Hartree-Fock) and B3LYP levels with 3-21G*, 6-31G*, 6-31G**, and 6-31++G** basis sets. The calculated donor-acceptor atom distances in the Watson-Crick A-T base pair are in good agreement with the experimental mean values obtained from an analysis of 21 high resolution DNA structures. In addition, for further correction of interaction energies between adenine and thymine, the basis set superposition error (BSSE) associated with the hydrogen bond energy has been computed via the counterpoise method using the individual bases as fragments. In the Watson-Crick A-T base pair there is a good agreement between theory and experimental results. The distances for (N2...H23-N19), (N8-H13...O24), and (C1...O18) are 2.84, 2.94, and 3.63 A, respectively, at B3LYP/6-31G** level, which is in good agreement with experimental results (2.82, 2.98, and 3.52 A). Interaction energy of the Watson-Crick A-T base pair is -13.90 and -10.24 kcal/mol at B3LYP/6-31G** and HF/6-31G** levels, respectively. The interaction energy of model (9) A-T base pair is larger than others, -18.28 and -17.26 kcal/mol, and for model (2) is the smallest value, -13.53 and -13.03 kcal/mol, at B3LYP/6-31G** and B3LYP/6-31++G** levels, respectively. The computed B3LYP/6-31G** bond enthalpies for Watson-Crick A-T pairs of -14.4 kcal/mol agree well with the experimental results of -12.1 kcal/mol deviating by as little as -2.3 kcal/mol. The BSSE of some cases is large (9.85 kcal/mol) and some is quite small (0.6 kcal/mol).  相似文献

MP2 and DFT studies were performed on the tautomers of N′-ethylideneacetohydrazide in different environments including gas phase, continuum solvent and microhydrated environment. The ground electronic state structures of the tautomers were optimized at the MP2 and B3LYP levels of theory using 6-311++G(d,p), separately. The optimized geometries of the transition states of different tautomerism processes, which occur through the proton transfer (PT) reaction, were determined using the QST3 approach at the same levels of theory. The same stability order as T1Z〉 T1E〉 T2ZE〉 T2ZZ〉 T2EE〉 T2EZ〉 T6〉 T4E was found for the tautomers in the gas phase, continuum solvent and microhydrated environment for both B3LYP and MP2 levels of theory. In addition, the variations of the Gibbs free energies of tautomeric processes, the activation Gibbs free energies of the forward and reverse tautomeric processes with the polarity of the solvent (in continuum solvent model) and the number of water molecules (in microhydrated environment) were investigated. It was found that the reverse tautomeric process is more favorable in all considered environments thermodynamically and kinetically. In addition, it was shown that the rate constants of the reverse and forward considered tautomeric processes decrease with the solvent polarity in the continuum solvent model and the process becomes more difficult than the gas phase. The opposite trend is seen in the microhydrated environment.  相似文献

The hydrogen bonds formed by the interaction of nitriles with water, hydrogen fluoride, ammonia and hydrogen sulphide have been studied using B3LYP and second-order Møller–Plesset perturbation (MP2) methods and 6-311+ + G(d,p) basis set. The energies and structures of 80 hydrogen-bonded complexes between nitriles and small molecules were examined systematically using B3LYP and MP2 procedure. Categorisation of the hydrogen bonds involved in the various complexes led to an ordering of hydrogen bond donor and acceptor abilities for some functional groups. The interaction energies have been corrected for the basis set superposition error using Boy's counterpoise correction method. The Morokuma energy decomposition analysis reveals that the strong interactions are due to the attractive contributions from the electrostatic (ES), polarisation (PL) and charge transfer (CT) components. The topological parameters, electron density and Laplacian of electron density show excellent correlation with the hydrogen bond length. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis has also been performed to study the CT from proton acceptor to the antibonding orbital of the H–Y bond in the proton donor part of complexes. The frequency analysis of C–H…Y bond in the complexes indicates the blue-shifting nature largely in case of sp2 hybridised carbon atom.  相似文献
