Annual variations of egg production rate (EPR) and clutch sizeof Calanus sinicus, as well as body size of females (prosomelength and dry weight), were investigated at a series of stationsin the Southern Yellow Sea by onboard incubation. Calanus sinicuswas spawning in all the 11 cruises investigated, and the annualvariation of EPR was bimodal. Monthly average EPR was highestfrom May to July, respectively, 5.97, 5.36 and 6.30 eggs female–1d–1, then decreased dramatically to only 1.37 eggs female–1d–1 in August and attained the lowest 1.07 eggs female–1d–1 in October. In November, average EPR increased againto 4.31 eggs female–1 d–1. Seasonal variation ofclutch size was similar to EPR, except that it decreased graduallyafter August rather than dramatically as did EPR. Prosome lengthof females was maximum in May and minimum in October, but dryweight was highest in November. Monthly average EPR correlatedbetter with prosome length than dry weight, while clutch sizewas rather determined by dry weight of females. It is suggestedthat egg production of C. sinicus was active during two discontinuousperiods when both surface and bottom temperature fell into itsfavorite range (i.e. 10–23°C), and different reproductivestrategies were adopted in these two reproductive peaks: otherthan the highest EPR, longer prosome length was also achievedby C. sinicus from May to July, while females in November developedshorter bodies but accumulated more energy for reproduction.  相似文献

The fecundity and somatic growth rates of Calanus agulhensisand Calanoides carinatus, the dominant large calanoid copepodsin the southern Benguela upwelling system, as well as the fecundityof several other common copepods, were measured between Septemberand March of 1993/94 and 1994/95. Mean egg production of mostcopepods was low at >30 eggs female-1 day-1 {Calanoides carinatus23.7, Calanus agulhensis 19.0, Neocalanus tonsus 16.1 and Rhincalanusnasutus 26.1), whereas the mean fecundity of Centropages brachiatuswas significantly greater (83.6 eggs female–1 day-1).This study also presents the first comprehensive field estimatesof the fecundity of Nanno-calanus minor (mean: 26.1 eggs female–1day–1, range: 0.0–96.2 eggs female–1 day–1)and of somatic growth of N6 and all copepodite stages of Calanoidescarinatus (decreasing from 0.58 day–1 for N6 to 0.04 day–1for C5). Somatic growth rates of Calanus agulhensis also declinedwith age: from 0.57 day1 for N6 to 0.09 day1 for C5. Data ongrowth rates were used to assess the relative importance offood [as measured by total chlorophyll (Chi) a concentration],phytoplankton cell size (proportion of cells >10 µm)and temperature to the growth of copepods. Multiple regressionresults suggested that fecundity and somatic growth rates werepositively related to both Chi a concentration and phytoplanktoncell size, but not to temperature. Although it was not possibleto separate the effects of Chi a concentration and phytoplanktoncell size, data from previous laboratory experiments suggestthat copepod growth is not limited by small cells per se, butby the low Chi a concentrations that are associated with theseparticles in the field. Despite growth not being directly relatedto temperature, a dome-shaped relationship was evident in somespecies, with slower growth rates at cool (<13°C) andwarm (>18°C) temperatures. The shape of this relationshipmirrors that of Chi a versus temperature, where poor Chi a concentrationsare associated with cool and warm temperatures. It is concludedthat the effect of food limitation on growth of copepods outweighsthat of temperature in the southern Benguela region. Sourcesof variability in relationships between growth and Chi a concentrationare discussed.  相似文献

Pseudocalanus species are important contributors to the secondaryproduction of the northern hemisphere mid- to high-latitudeoceans. In the coastal Gulf of Alaska, Pseudocalanus are presentyear round and are represented by three species. In 2001, Pseudocalanusmimus was the dominant Pseudocalanus species on the shelf duringspring and summer, comprising 30–100% of the total, whilePseudocalanus newmani dominated in Prince William Sound (10–90%).Pseudocalanus minutus were only abundant in Prince William Soundduring early spring. Egg production (by number and volume) wasa function of female prosome length and decreased from springto summer; however, significant variability was attributableto regional influences that were independent of size. For thesame sized female, P. newmani produced more eggs per clutchthan P. mimus. Pseudocalanus mimus, however, tended to havea larger mean egg size than P. newmani. Consequently, clutchvolumes of the two species were indistinguishable. Pseudocalanusegg production rates (EPRs) (eggs female–1 day–1)were lower in July and August (ca. 2–4) than April andMay (ca. 1–9), but total egg production by the population(eggs day–1) was nearly equivalent for the two time periodsdue to higher female concentrations in summer.  相似文献

Relatively warm (12.50–12.75°C) and high-salinity[<35.640 practical salinity units (PSU)] water flowing eastwardwas detected at the shelf-break during a cruise carried Outin the southern Bay of Biscay in Spring 1987. The slope currentinduced the formation of a convergent front separating well-mixedoceanic waters from haline-stratified coastal waters. Very highconcentrations of dissolved oxygen (295 µmol kg–1)and chlorophyll a(>4.5 mg m–3) were found at the outeredge of the frontal boundary. Small autotrophic flagellatesdominated the phytoplankton community. Primary production peakedat the boundary region. Estimated phytoplankton growth ratesindicated that active growth was taking place, with lower turnovertimes integrated over the water column at the frontal station(2.5–5 days) than at coastal (1.5–2.8 days) or oceanic(1.5–3.5 days) stations. The lowest doubling times (1–2days) were calculated for surface frontal populations. Accumulationof zooplankton was also observed associated with the convergentphysical structure, although this relationship was less markedthan for phytoplankton. Copepods, mainly Paracalanus parvus,Acartia clausi and Oithona helgolandica, formed the bulk ofthe mesozooplankton biomass. Compatibility between the sizeof phytoplankton cells and copepod size spectra indicate highfood availability for these animals, particularly in the vicinityof the front. The distribution of fish eggs and fish larvaewas also coupled with the slope current-induced front. Sardinelarvae were more abundant at the coastal side of the front, whereas larval stages of blue whiting reached the highest densitiesat off-shelf stations. Larvae of lamellibranch molluscs andbryozoa were restricted to nearshore waters, as the frontalboundary prevented larval dispersion to the open ocean. Theresults presented in this paper suggest that the Iberian slopecurrent and its associated shelf-break frontal structure werecrucial in controlling phytoplankton primary production, activityof grazers, distribution of larvae of fishes and benthic invertebrates, and ultimately in determining the structure of the pelagic foodweb in the southern Bay of Biscay during the seasonal periodof vertical mixing.  相似文献

Reproduction of the dominant copepods Centropages typicus andTemora stylifera was studied at a permanent station in the LigurianSea (north-western Mediterranean). Seasonal patterns of eggproduction, clutch size, egg size and female prosome lengthwere followed from January 1998 to December 1999. Female carboncontent and weight-specific egg production were compared inautumn 1998 and spring 1999. Reproductive patterns of C. typicusand T. stylifera were very similar, indicating that reproductionwas affected by the same environmental factors. Reproductiveactivity was highest in autumn in both species and years. Asecond peak of egg production was observed in early summer, which was less intense in 1999 after a bloom of salps. Egg productionrates reached maximal values of 33.5 and 33.3 eggs female–1day–1 and annual means of 10.8 and 11.7 eggs female–1day–1 in Centropages and Temora, respectively. Maximalweight-specific egg production was 0.21 day–1 in bothspecies in November 1998, when female carbon contents were 6.7(C. typicus) and 12.0 µg (T. stylifera). No statisticalrelationship between egg production and food availability ortemperature was detected. Reproductive activity did not reflectthe seasonal abundance patterns, with C. typicus dominatingin spring and T. stylifera in autumn.  相似文献

In situ rates of egg production and hatching success are reportedfor Calanus simillimus, one of the most abundant calanoid speciesin peri-Antarctic regions, during the Italian ‘Italics’cruise in the Straits of Magellan in March-April 1995. Low fecundity(8.6 eggs female–1 day–1) and fecal pellet production(0.8 fecal pellets female–1 day–1) in this periodindicate that the species was feeding very poorly. Sixty-sixof the 126 females sampled did not produce eggs and 80 of thesedid not produce any fecal pellets during the 24 h period ofincubation. Striking abnormal naupliar and embryonic developmentwas recorded in 81.8% of the eggs spawned. Aberrant eggs didnot undergo normal cleavage, and failed to develop to hatching.Deformed nauplii were asymmetrical and presented strong anatomicalanomalies in the total body length and number of swimming appendages. These results are discussed in the light of recent findingson the causes of low hatching success in copepods.  相似文献

Spatial and seasonal egg production rates (Er) and egg hatchingsuccess in the copepods Calanus finmarchicus and Calanus helgolandicuswere measured in the North Sea from March to September. Foodavailability was monitored by chlorophyll and protist concentrationsand three size fractions of seston fatty acids. Seasonal andspatial distribution and production differed between the species.Calanus finmarchicus was found only offshore of the 50-m isobath, with decreasing Er (37–28 eggs female–1 day–1)from March to July. Calanus helgolandicus had two abundancepeaks, in spring and autumn, with a low in May during whichtime the highest Er were observed (38 eggs female–1 day–1).At other times, Er in C. helgolandicus remained lower than inC. finmarchicus (  相似文献

The seasonal development of bacteria was studied in the hypertrophiccoastal lagoon Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta (Caribbeancoast of Colombia). This large but only 1.5 m deep lagoon issubject to strong seasonal variations of salinity from almostfully marine (April/May) to brackish conditions in October/November.Chlorophyll ranged from 6 to 182 µg L–1, and grossprimary production amounted to 1690 g C m–2 per year.Total bacterial number (TBN) ranged from 6.5 to 90.5 x 109 cellsL–1 and bacterial biomass (BBM) from 77 to 1542 µgC L–1, which are among the highest ever reported for naturalcoastal waters. Neither TBN nor BBM varied significantly withsalinity, phytoplankton or seston concentrations. Only the bacterialmean cell volume showed a significant relation to salinity, being highest (0.066 µm3) during the period of increasingand lowest (0.032 µm3) during decreasing salinity. Bacterialprotein accounted for 24% (19–26%) and phytoplankton proteinfor 57% (53–71%) of total seston protein. The ratio (annualmean) of bacterial carbon to phytoplankton carbon was 0.44 (range0.04–1.43). At low phytoplankton abundance [chlorophylla (Chl a) < 25 µg L–1], bacterial carbon wasalmost equal to phytoplankton biomass (i.e. the mean ratio was1.04). In contrast, at Chl a > 100 µg L–1, BBMwas low compared to phytoplankton biomass (the mean ratio was0.16). In general, BBM varied less than phytoplankton biomass. Most probably, the missing correlation between bacterial andphytoplankton variables was due to (i) organic material partlyderived from allochthonous sources serving as food resourcefor bacteria and (ii) a strong resuspension of bacteria fromthe sediment caused by frequent wind-induced mixing of the veryshallow lagoon.  相似文献

. Clutch size and egg viability were examined for wild femalesof Pseudocalanus newmani collected from four different stationsinside and outside Funka Bay, southwestern Hokkaido, Japan, during pre-phytoplankton-bloom conditions in 1997, and froma single station outside the bay during the period from pre-to post-blooming seasons in 1998, to examine spatio-temporalvariability of the reproductive parameters and to detect deleteriouseffects of diatom blooms on in situ copepod reproduction. Clutchsize and hatching success in P.newmani were relatively similarat the four stations in 1997. The eggs almost always hatchedcompletely, but deformed nauplii occurred in 20–40% ofthe cases. The proportion of deformed nauplii gradually decreasedwhen the females were fed on non-diatom Pavlova sp. in the laboratory, suggesting that the occurrence of deformed nauplii was relatedto the quality of in situ food particles, including diatoms.Clutch size varied from 12 to 30 eggs female–1 duringthe study period in 1998; more than 90% of the variation couldbe explained by the body size of the females which dependedon ambient water temperature. Hatching success also varied, from 15 to 80%, but was not related to either clutch size, femalebody size, water temperature or diatom biomass. These resultssuggest that not only egg production but also hatchability shouldbe measured routinely when estimating recruitment of the copepodinto the planktonic population, and show that neither clutchsize nor egg viability are directly affected by diatom biomass.Although we could not obtain clear evidence of in situ deleteriouseffects of diatoms on abnormal embryos and nauplii, this mightbe related to methodological problems and properties or characteristicsof prey–predator interactions. Also, deformities of copepodnauplii have not yet been observed for reasons other than feedingon diatoms.  相似文献

The distinct patterns of stratification in the North Channeland stratified region of the western Irish Sea influence theseasonal abundance of phytoplankton. The 3–4 month productionseason in the stratified region was characterized by productionand biomass peaks in the spring (up to 2378 mg C m2 day–1and 178.4 mg chlorophyll m–2) and autumn (up to 1280 mgC m–2 day–1 and 101.9 mg chlorophyll m–2).Phytoplankton in the North Channel exhibited a short, late productionseason with a single summer (June/July) peak in production (4483mg Cm–2 day–1) and biomass (–160.6 mg chlorophyllm–2). These differences have little influence on copepoddynamics. Both regions supported recurrent annual cycles ofcopepod abundance with similar seasonal maxima (182.8–241.8103ind. m–2) and dominant species (Pseudocalanus elongatusand Acartia clausi). Specific rates of population increase inthe spring were 0.071 and 0.048 day1 for the North Channel andstratified region, respectively. Increased copepod abundancein the stratified region coincided with the spring bloom, andwas significantly correlated with chlorophyll standing stock.Increased copepod abundance preceded the summer production peakin the North Channel. This increase was not correlated withchlorophyll standing crop, suggesting that a food resource otherthan phytoplankton may be responsible for the onset of copepodproduction prior to the spring bloom. Hetero-trophic microplanktonas an alternative food source, and advection of copepods fromthe stratified region, are proposed as possible explanationsfor copepod abundance increasing in advance of the summer peakin primary production.  相似文献

The egg production rate (EPR) and the effects of environmentalvariations on diapause induction in the copepod Centropagestenuiremis in Xiamen waters were studied in 2002 and 2003. TheEPR ranged from 7.33 ± 8.14 (on 18 February 2003) to91.08 ± 20.61 (on 6 June 2003) eggs female–1day–1(mean ± 95% confidence limits), and displayed a significantseasonal pattern. Before the period of maximum egg production,EPR increased with seawater temperature and chlorophyll a concentration;but after the maximum, no significant relationship was foundbetween EPR and chlorophyll a concentration, and there was anegative linear relationship between EPR and temperature. Seawatertemperature and photoperiod, respectively, played a primaryrole in the switch to diapause egg production by the femalesas shown by single-factor probit analysis. However, the differencein effect between the two factors was demonstrated by binarylogistic multivariate analysis. These results suggest that thiscopepod rapidly increases subitaneous EPR by taking full advantageof conditions in favorable seasons (winter and spring). SubitaneousEPR decreases and there is a switch to the production of diapauseeggs that survive in the bottom sediments during unfavorableseasons (summer and autumn) in Xiamen waters.  相似文献

Simultaneous ingestion and egg production experiments were conductedwith female Calanus finmarchicus in April/May and July/August2002 in the Irminger Sea. Experimental animals were providedwith natural microplankton food assemblages and incubated underin situ conditions for 24 h. The quantity of food consumed wassignificantly related to the concentration of prey cells, withtotal daily ingestion rates ranging from 0.6 to 8.1 µgof carbon female–1 day–1, corresponding to carbon-specificrates of 0.6–4.7% day–1. Egg production rates (EPRs)remained relatively low (0.3–11 eggs female–1 day–1)during both periods of investigation and were not influencedby food availability. The data were used to construct energeticbudgets in which the microplankton carbon ingested, includingciliates, was compared with the carbon utilized for egg productionand respiration. These budgets showed that ingestion alone couldnot provide the necessary carbon to sustain the observed demandsfor growth and metabolism. Although ciliates constituted >80%of the total material ingested at times, they were not sufficientto provide the metabolic shortfall. Indeed, the females weretypically lacking 5 µg of carbon each day, 5% of theircarbon biomass. Our study results highlight the possible importanceof internal reserves in sustaining reproduction in C. finmarchicusduring periods of food scarcity.  相似文献

We describe zooplankton community structure and copepod eggproduction in the vicinity of the coastal boundary zone of theGreat Barrier Reef lagoon, Australia. The abundance and eggproduction rate of constituents of the zooplankton assemblagecharacteristic of the coastal zone rapidly increase subsequentto events such as flooding and upwelling. Our sampling spannedtwo summer monsoonal seasons, the first of which (1990-91) wasvery wet. The second monsoonal season (1991-92) was very dryand was characterized by intrusive upwelling events from theCoral Sea. Chlorophyll a concentrations did not rise in thewet year, probably because of light limitation, but did riseas a result of upwelling. Terrestrial run-off in the wet yearhad a greater apparent effect on zooplankton abundance patternsthan did upwelling in the dry year, except where coastal trappingallowed sufficient time for increases in zooplankton abundanceto occur. Egg production rates by the copepods Acrocalanus gibberand Acrocalanus gracilis showed haphazard spatial differences.Nitrogen-specific egg production ranged between 0.03 and 0.21day–1 for A.gibber, and between 0.13 and 0.41 day–1for A.gracilis. The egg production rate by A.gibber was foodlimited for most of the year and showed a poor correlation withtemperature. 3Present address: Department of Biological Sciences, FloridaTech, 150 W University Boulevard, Melbourne, FL 32901, USA  相似文献

We examined the relationship between egg production rate (E)and pigment ingestion rate (I, from gut content corrected for33% loss) for adult female Temora longicornis in Long IslandSound on 47 occasions. Linear regression of E on I [both variablesexpressed in mass of nitrogen (N) female–1 day–1]was: EN = 0.0016 + 0.770 x IN. The slope, 0.77, is the apparentgross efficiency of egg production, equivalent to the grossgrowth efficiency (GGE) assuming that females partition allnitrogen for growth into egg production. Published work suggeststhat a GGE of 0.37 would be expected for herbivorous copepods. The discrepancy between the expected value of 0.37 and observedvalue of 0.77 could result from unquantified losses of gut pigmentor because T.longicomis ingested a significant amount of nitrogenby feeding as a carnivore. We suggest that if T.longicomis femalesderive all of their nitrogen for growth by feeding on phytoplankton, and if no correction for pigment loss is employed, then thegut pigment method underestimates pigment ingestion by no morethan a factor of two.  相似文献

Phagotrophic protists are major components of pelagic food webs, both as consumers of bacterial and phytoplankton cells, andas regenerators of inorganic nutrients. In this study, we estimatedthe efficiency of ammonium regeneration by protists feedingon bacteria within natural plank-tonic assemblages, using a15N tracer method, in which the excretion of 15N-labeled ammoniumdue to grazing on 15N pre-labeled bacteria was followed overtime. We tested this approach in experiments based on the additionof heat-killed 15N-labeled bacteria to laboratory cultures andto samples of coastal seawater. During two experiments, variationin abundance of bacterivores and bacterioplankton resulted innon-constant grazing rates. Deterministic computer models thatused abundance of bacteria and protists as variables were developedto estimate best-fit values of grazing mortality (g, h–1)and of ammonium regeneration efficiency (RE, fraction of theinitial 15N label in added bacteria which is released as ammonium).Estimated ammonium RE were 0.30–0.35 for one trophic linksystems with both a monospecific culture and a mixed speciesassemblage of bacterivorous flagellates. RE was higher for multi-trophicstep food webs: 0.60 for 5 µm pre-screened coastal seawaterand 0.90 for whole coastal seawater.  相似文献

The temporal and spatial variability in the quality and quantityof settling phytoplankton material in relation to concurrentprimary production was studied using sediment traps at threecoastal stations from a semi-enclosed bay (Pojo Bay) throughthe outer archipelago to the open Gulf of Finland. The fluxof settling phytoplankton was high (9.3 g C m–2period–1)in Pojo Bay, especially in spring, and lower in the archipelago(8.1 g C m–2 period–1) and open-sea area (5.2 gC m"2 period"1), although the primary production followed theopposite pattern. A large influx of allochthonous material intoPojo Bay in spring brought allochthonous phytoplankton cellsinto the traps, but limited primary production. Diatoms werethe most abundant settled phytoplankton at all stations, butthe species composition varied between Pojo Bay (Aulacoseiraspp., Rhizosolenia minima) and the outer stations (Skeletonemacostatum, Chaetoceros spp.)At the outer stations, migratingdinoflagellates (Peridiniella catenate) comprised part of thesettling material in spring. The high settling flux of the cyanophyteAphanizomenon flos-aquae is discussed. The species compositionof the phytoplankton assemblage influenced the proportion ofthe total organic carbon sedimentation that consisted of phytoplanktoncarbon.  相似文献

Bacterial abundance and [3H]thymidine incorporation rates wereused to characterize bacterial distributions and dynamics duringa spring diatom bloom in the coastal plume of the Hudson Riverduring March, 1981. Bacterial abundance did not decline significantlyaway from the plume or across the continental shelf. However,a pronounced gradient was observed for [3H]thymidine incorporation. Following a northeast gale, a bloom of Skeletonema costatumdeveloped in response to coastal upwelling. As the plume becamesaltier, warmer and larger, bacterial abundance averaged 1.3x 109 cells 1–1. Bacterial incorporation of [3H]thymidineinto cold 5% TCA insoluble materials, bacterial production andspecific growth rates averaged 80–120 pmol 1–1 d–1,1.4–2.0 x 109 cells 1–1 and 1.2–1.5 d–1.respectively. The mean density of bacteria in the plume didnot change even though growth rates were higher than expectedlosses from sinking, mixing and export. The abundance and production levels of attached bacteria inthe plume were significantly higher than they were in coastalwater outside the plume. In contrast, free bacterial levelswere similar in all regions of the shelf and plume. Bacterialparameters in the plume were not correlated with phytoplanktonpigment concentrations, while significant positive correlationswere found in shelf waters >33 salinity. Thus bacteria werecoupled to phytoplankton in shelf waters but not in the plumewhere allochthonous dissolved matter was probably supportingthe bacteria. *Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory Contribution No. 3459 2Present address: Department of Microbiology, University ofGeorgia, Athens, GA 30602, USA.  相似文献

The abundance and biomass of the large heterotrophic dinoflagellateNoctiluca scintillans, together with the changes in its potentialprey items, were monitored in the Seto Inland Sea, Japan, duringsummer 1997 (17 July-11 August). Growth and grazing rates ofNscintillans fed natural plankton populations were also measuredeight and seven times, respectively, during the survey period. The abundance and biomass of N scintillans averaged over thewater column (19 m) were in the range 1–345 cells 1–1(temporalaverage = 93 cell1–1) and 0.1–49.6 µg C l–1(temporalaverage = 13.8 µg C l–1; three times higher thanthat of calanoid copepods during the same period). Noctilucascintillans populations followed the changes in phytoplankton:N.scintillans biomass was increasing during the period of diatomblooms and was at a plateau or decreasing during periods oflow chlorophyll a. The growth rates of N.scintillans (µ)were also consistent with the wax and wane of the N.scintillanspopulation: N.scintillans showed highest growth rates duringdiatom blooms. A simple relationship between µ and chlorophylla concentration was established, and the production of N.scintillanswas estimated using this relationship and the measured biomass. The estimated production averaged over the water column wasin the range >0.1–5.2 µg C l–1 day–1(temporalaverage = 1.4 µg C l–1 day–1; 64% of the productionof calanoid copepods during the same period). Diatom clearancerates by N.scintillans were in the range 0.10–0.35 mlcell–1 day–1, and the phytoplankton population clearanceby N.scintillans was >12% day–1. Thus, although thefeeding pressure of N.scintillans on phytoplankton standingstock was low, N.scintillans was an important member of themesozooplank-ton in terms of biomass and production in the SetoInland Sea during summer.  相似文献

The lobate ctenophore, Mnemiopsis leidyi, consumed eggs andlarvae of the bay anchovy, Anchoa mitchilli, in laboratory experiments. This ctenophore exhibited a type I functional response to increasesin egg densities without reaching saturation at high prey densities.Clearance rate increased with increasing experimental containervolume. There was a 3-fold increase in the volume of water clearedby 2.0–2.5-cm ctenophores and a >5-fold increase for4.5–5.0-cm ctenophores in 15–1 versus 100–200–1containers. Clearance rate was dependent on tenophore lengthbut was probably underestimated for the larger animals due tocontainer effects. The presence of various densities of alternateprey, Acartia hudsonica or Anemia sp. nauplii, in addition toAnchoa mitchilli eggs did not affect the clearance rates onthe eggs alone. Comparison of clearance rates of 2.0–2.5-cmctenophores on various ages of starved and fed bay anchovy larvaeindicated that predation may be higher on yolk-sac larvae thanon eggs but decreases as the larvae grow. After 3 days posthatch starved anchovy larvae become more vulnerable to predationthan fed larvae. The ctenophore, M.leidyi has the potentialto inflict substantial predation pressure on early stages inthe life history of bay anchovy. 1 Present address: University of Maryland, Center for Environmentaland Estuarine Studies, Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, POBox 38, Solomons, MD 20688-0038, USA  相似文献
