Growth and Metabolism of Senna as Affected by Salt Stress   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Pot culture experiments were conducted using different NaCl concentrations to assess their impact on the growth and metabolic changes in senna (Cassia angustifolia Vahl.). Five treatments (0, 40, 80, 120, and 160 mM NaCl) were given to the plants at three phenological stages, i.e. at pre-flowering, (45 days after sowing, DAS); flowering (75 DAS) and post-flowering (90 DAS) stages. A significant reduction in the biomass and length of the roots and shoots, photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, the total chlorophyll content, protein content, nitrate reductase activity, and reduced nitrogen content of the leaves was observed at each phenological stage with each salt concentration applied. Contrary to this, proline and nitrate contents of the leaves increased markedly. The post-flowering stage was most sensitive to NaCl treatment.  相似文献

植物物候是指示生态系统对气候变化响应的重要证据。已有研究多基于代表性站点的物候观测数据研究物候特征及其对气候变化的响应规律。同一气候区内,不同站点的物候变化及对温度变化响应的敏感度是否一致仍需深入探讨。本文选择同属于暖温带湿润区汾渭平原气候区的西安和宝鸡为研究区,利用"中国物候观测网"在两个站点21个共有物种的开花始期和开花末期数据,比较了1987—2016年两站点各植物花期物候变化特征及其对温度变化响应的敏感度差异。结果表明,西安和宝鸡各物种的开花始期和开花末期均以提前趋势为主。大部分物种开花始期在西安的提前趋势(平均趋势-0.57 d/a)明显强于在宝鸡的提前趋势(平均趋势-0.29 d/a),但开花末期趋势差异不显著。除紫薇和迎春的敏感度差异较大外,其他物种开花始期和开花末期的温度敏感度在两站点间非常接近,无显著差异。由此可见,在同一气候区的不同站点,因增温幅度不同,植物的始花期变化存在较大差异,不能用单站点的物候变化反映整个气候区的物候变化。但同一植物在单站点的温度敏感度可以较好的反映同一气候区其他站点的植物物候-气候关系。本文研究结果可为利用有限站点的物候观测数据分析区域物候变化及对气候变化的响应提供科学依据。  相似文献

Abstract

Photosynthetic microbiocenose of the « Selinuntine » Hot Springs in Sciacca, Sicily. - Cyanobacteria belonging to the genus Oscillatoria, typical of thiobiotic habitats, were predominant in the photosynthetic microbiocenose of the « Selinuntine » Hot Springs in Sciacca. Oscillatoria animalis was prevalent in the thermal microbial community having the highest temperature and sulfide values suggesting a particular physiology requiring the presence of low redox compounds for its growth. Anoxigenic photosynthetic bacteria constitued a minor component of the biocenose.  相似文献

物候对气候变化具有重要指示作用,然而现有研究主要关注植物物候变化与环境因子的关系,对于物候变化的生理生态机制研究较为缺乏。基于内蒙古自治区克氏针茅草原红外线辐射增温与控水相结合的原位模拟试验资料,探究了克氏针茅物候变化的光合生理生态机制及其对水热环境因子的响应。研究结果表明:(1)增温使克氏针茅返青期和抽穗期提前2.8 d和7.8 d、枯黄期推迟6.8 d;水热协同作用主要影响抽穗期,增温增水(气候暖湿化)较增温减水(气候暖干化)提前7.4 d。(2)增温增水使得克氏针茅返青期和抽穗期的净光合速率、气孔导度和蒸腾速率显著高于增温减水,而对水分利用效率的影响则相反(P<0.05),增温增水与增温减水对克氏针茅枯黄期的光合生理生态特征影响无显著差异。(3)净光合速率是影响克氏针茅物候变化的决策因子,温度是影响克氏针茅植物返青期和枯黄期的限制因子,水分则是影响克氏针茅植物抽穗期的限制因子。研究发现克氏针茅物候与其光合生理生态特征和环境因子密切相关,研究结果可为植物物候模型发展和物候机理研究提供理论支撑。  相似文献

The aim of this paper was to study the phenology of commercially cultivated representative genotypes of the Elaeis guineensis Jacq. species in two Colombian growing areas. The frequency of observations was daily, weekly or monthly depending on the stage of development under evaluation, over an 18‐month time period. Observations were made on prenursery and nursery plants and on three‐ to five‐year‐old palms starting from the zero leaf (spear leaf), through development of inflorescence, and ending with maturity and harvesting of fruit bunches. Stem observations were made on different age palms of the same cultivars. The duration of each phenological stage was measured in terms of days. The phenological growth stages were coded according to the BBCH scale (Biologische Bundesantalt, Bundessortenamt und Chemische Industrie), consisting of three digits, because of the inclusion of intermediate stages between the principal and secondary stages in order to provide more accurate details on each development stage.  相似文献

Surveys were carried out in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zanzibar to establish geographic distribution in the main vegetation mosaics and ecological (host plant range, feeding behaviour) characteristics of the East African noctuid stem borers. 49 wild plant species belonging to Poaceae, Cyperaceae and Typhaceae were found to harbour stem borers in the six vegetation mosaics surveyed. A total of 36 noctuid species belonging to nine genera were identified from 14,318 larvae collected, out of which 17 were new to science. The species diversity varied among vegetation mosaics and host plants. Most borer species appeared to be specialised feeders with 24 species being monophagous. Species belonging to the same types (named as the Busseola Thurau 1904 and the Sesamia Guenée 1852 types) or genus harboured common ecological characteristics such as pigmentation and feeding site. The Sciomesa Tams and Bowden 1953 genus was an exception as it had a mixture of these characters.  相似文献

Background: Past studies of first and last occurrence dates of phenological events have revealed close associations with climatic parameters. Consequently, it is widely acknowledged that recent shifts in the beginning, duration or ending of such events are a response to present climate change. In addition, in recent times, there have tended to be many more observers than in earlier times, especially in urban areas. Furthermore, the number of individuals (plants or animals) observed has often changed markedly. In many situations it is not possible to obtain the average first or last occurrence date of a group of individuals, and only the most extreme occurrence is recorded. This common observational difficulty leads to sampling bias that needs to be taken into account.

Aim: Our aim is to use statistical models to quantify the sampling bias and its dependence on sample size and the variability and correlation amongst the individuals under consideration.

Methods: n-dimensional multivariate normal distribution and two-way fixed-effects analysis of variance models were developed to examine the dependence of the sampling bias on the above factors. Our results are compared with real data.

Results: For first and last occurrence observations, which are the most common index in many phenological studies, we found that changes in observational practice and sample size can, in certain circumstances, easily produce changes in bias that can swamp (or indeed reverse) any climatic change effects.

Conclusions: Our new, realistic statistical models allow the sampling bias to be quantified and calculated in terms of the number of individuals under observation, their variability and the degree of correlation between individuals.  相似文献

Background: Since phenology is a good bio-indicator of temperature the latter is often used in phenological analyses. However, whilst meteorological data are difficult to interpolate from point measurements at the desired resolution, region-wide digital data, e.g. elevation models or land cover data, are usually readily available.

Aims: The potential of environmental variables, other than meteorological data, to create a bioclimatic classification of landscapes at the mesoscale was tested by the joint use of spatial data and the flowering dates of Forsythia suspensa at 70 phenological stations in southern Bavaria, Germany.

Methods: A linear discriminant analysis was carried out to identify relevant land use variables that were correlated with phenology and, using these results, to regionalise the observed flowering dates within the framework of a Geographic Information System.

Results: The generated map represented dates of onset at the regional scale, mostly influenced by the extent of impervious (hard, sealed) surfaces and forest, altitude and distance to urban areas. Thus, we overcame restrictions resulting from the difficulties of spatially interpolating available climatological data, and from the limited number of phenological datasets.

Conclusions: We demonstrated that the selected variables were capable of adequately modelling regional bioclimatic zonation, and that phenology was a useful proxy of regional climate variation arising from both natural and anthropogenic factors.  相似文献

The relationships between photosynthesis, flowering, and growth temperatures were examined experimentally in four populations of the C4 grass genus Bouteloua. Field-collected plants were grown under two temperature regimes, cool (20 C day/6 C night) and warm (30/16), representative of the extreme populations. Populations collected from the warm climates had significantly lower photosynthetic capacity when grown in the cool chamber relative to the warm chamber, while photosynthetic capacity in the cool climate populations did not differ between the growth conditions. Additionally, exposure to a 2-day cold temperature treatment (10/-2), representative of late-season frosts in high altitude sites, resulted in further reductions in photosynthesis in the warm climate plants, but not in the cool climate plants. This effect was greater for plants grown in the cool growth chamber. Flowering was reduced by 70% in the warm climate plants grown in the cool chamber, and was correlated with photosynthetic inhibition following the short-term cold temperature treatment. These results indicate that genetic differentiation for photosynthetic temperature sensitivity has occurred in the cool climate populations, and that long-term exposure to cool temperatures coupled with short-term relatively extreme low temperatures results in greater photosynthetic inhibition in nontolerant populations.  相似文献

Abstract

Allelopathy is a biological process in which plants synthesize allelochemicals that affect the physiological properties, development and survival of other plants. Experiments were conducted to investigate the allelopathic effect of Rhazya stricta leaf extracts on the germination, early seedling growth and metabolism of Salsola villosa. Aqueous extracts (10, 30 and 50 g/ L) decreased germination and growth by reducing the synthesis of chlorophyll pigments. Leachate treatments induced the antioxidant system by upregulating antioxidant enzyme activities. Additionally, the activities of phenylalanine ammonia lyase and indole acetic acid oxidase were stimulated by exposure to leachate. R. stricta leachates reduced the content of polyunsaturated membrane fatty acids with a concomitant increase in the saturated ones. Unsaturated fatty acids were reduced with the increased concentration of leachate. Phospholipids were also reduced due to leachate, thereby affecting membrane functioning considerably. Aqueous extracts from the leaves of R. stricta restrict the growth and metabolism of S. villosa by hampering membrane functioning and photosynthetic capacity.  相似文献

Abstract

The first pollen study for the solitary bee Ancyloscelis apiformes (Emphorini) in a nest aggregation in the Central Amazon was made in October 2012 at the Sucupira apiary in east Manaus, Amazonas, at 03° 00? 05″ S, 59° 51? 05″ W. A total of 15 samples/nests (N1–N15) were analysed, including intact pollen loads (stored inside the nest) and post-emergence residues, which were acetolysed and mounted in glycerine gelatin. From each sample, 500 pollen grains were counted to determine the pollen frequencies and diversity (H′) and evenness (J′) indices. The most representative pollen types were Bonamia ferruginea (N1 = 95.6% and N2 = 96.00%) and the Ipomoea (N3 = 96.40%), both of which belong to the Convolvulaceae. In addition, Byrsonima crispa (N10 = 93.40%) and Malpighia glabra (N7 = 90.20% and N9 = 97.60%), representatives of the Malpighiaceae, were classified as temporary specialisation events with frequencies above 90%. In this study, A. apiformes, which is considered an oligolectic bee species, presented a polylectic tendency since it collected large percentages of pollen types from plants in distinct families that were not phylogenetically related.  相似文献

The rapid induction of photosynthesis is critical for plants under light‐fleck environment. Most previous studies about photosynthetic induction focused upon single leaf, but they did not consider the systemic integrity of plant. Here, we verified whether systemic signalling is involved in photosynthetic induction. Rumex K‐1 (Rumex patientia × Rumex tianschaious) plants were grown under light‐fleck condition. After whole night dark adaptation, different numbers of leaves (system leaf or SL) were pre‐illuminated with light, and then the photosynthetic induction of other leaves (target leaf or TL) was investigated. This study showed that the pre‐illumination of SL promoted photosynthetic induction in TL. This promotion was independent of the number of SL, the light intensity on SL and the distance between SL and TL, indicating that this systemic signalling is non‐dose‐dependent. More interestingly, the photosynthetic induction was promoted by only the pre‐illumination of morphological upper leaf rather than the pre‐illumination of morphological lower leaf, indicating that the transfer of this signal is directional. The results showed that the transfer of this systemic signalling depends upon the phloem. This systemic signalling helps plants to use light energy more efficiently under light flecks.  相似文献

Two different pathways for protochlorophyllide a (Pchlide) reduction in photosynthetic organisms have been proved: one is strictly light-dependent whereas the second is light-independent. Both pathways occur in all photosynthetic cells except in angiosperms which form chlorophyll only through the light-dependent pathway. Most cells belonging to Eubacteria (i.e., the anoxygenic photosynthetic bacteria) synthesize bacteriochlorophyll through the light-independent pathway. This review deals with the physiological, biochemical, and molecular biological features of molecules involved in both pathways of Pchlide reduction. Capsule Large‐scale abundance monitoring programmes can be used to estimate annual phenological shifts.

Aims Phenology refers to the timing of any annually repeated biological event. The method developed here aims at measuring phenological variation in an indirect way by modelling seasonal abundance variations. Thus, it provides the opportunity to use a large number of datasets which have rarely been used in phenological studies. Phenological variations computed using this standardized method are comparable between species.

Methods The data used for the development of this method originates from the French Breeding Bird Survey, a large‐scale abundance monitoring programme launched in 2001. For each species, the phenological shift between two seasonal abundance trends is computed using maximum likelihood.

Results Phenological shifts relative to the year 2005 (reference year) were estimated for 46 species over a 5‐year period (2001–6). The standard deviations of the shifts do not differ significantly between species with different migratory status. Moreover, at the species level, the computed phenological shifts relate to the shifts of the mean date weighted by abundance. However, mean date, cannot be used in studies incorporating species with different migratory status (e.g. trans‐Saharan migrant, sedentary) because of ambiguous changes for the same biological shift in timing.

Conclusions The method described here is of particular value in determining how the phenology of common bird species changes in relation to climate. It offers the opportunity to increase the spatial scale of phenological studies and to include multi‐species analyses. This method could be applied to any abundance or constant effort site programme to study the timing of any biological process for which a seasonal distribution is available.  相似文献

Abstract

New 1,3,4-thiadiazole thioglycosides linked to substituted pyrimidines were synthesized via glycosylation of 1,3,4-thiadiazole thiol compounds. Also, novel 1,2,3-triazole derivatives linked to carbohydrate units were prepared using the standard click chemistry conditions employing the Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition of substituted-aryl-azides with a selection of alkyne-functionalized sugars. The chemical structures of the new derivatives were verified using various spectroscopic techniques, such as IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analyses. The cytotoxic activities of the prepared compounds were investigated in vitro against human liver cancer (HepG-2) and human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF7) cell lines. In addition, the biological evaluation of the new compounds involved the investigation of their effects on a human normal retinal pigmented epithelial cell line (RPE1) using the MTT assay.  相似文献

The present study aimed to characterise and establish the phenological stages of arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea L.) by employing the extended BBCH (Biologische Bundesanstalt Bundessortenamt und Chemische Industrie) scale system and reporting a detailed biometric evaluation. An experiment with individual plants grown in separate pots was set up in a greenhouse for the identification and characterisation of phenological stages (the phenotypic characterisation and tuberisation process was accompanied by histological analyses every 2 months) and for biometric evaluation (plant height, root volume, dry biomass, leaf area and accumulated starch). We identified 36 secondary stages within eight principal stages of arrowroot growth which comprise: (0) sprouting; (1) leaf development–main stem; (2) formation of lateral stems; (3) elongation–main stem; (4) rhizome formation and tuberisation; (5) inflorescence emergence; (6) flowering, and (9) senescence. Results were categorised and recorded by way of photographs and technical drawings. The total growth cycle in this experiment was 230 days, concluding at the point of harvest. It was possible to observe the phenological events that characterised the changes at each stage (colouration, flag leaf emission, inflorescence and the rhizome tuberisation process). The BBCH system was efficient in identifying arrowroot phenological data. It constitutes a tool for agricultural calendar delineation and contributes to the standardisation of research on the species.  相似文献

The present paper describes the synthesis, biological evaluation and molecular simulation studies of a series of N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,4,5-trimethoxybenzamide derivatives with N,N-dialkylaminoethoxy/propoxy moiety as potential memory enhancers with acetylcholinesterase-inhibiting activity having IC50 in low micromolar range (4.0–16.5 μM). All the compounds showed a good degree of agreement between in vivo and in vitro results as most of these derivatives showed dose-dependent increase in percent retention. Compound 10a showed significant % retention of 84.73 ± 4.51 as compared to piracetam (46.88 ± 5.42) at 3 mg kg?1 and also exhibited a maximal percent inhibition of 97% at 50 μM. Molecular docking, MM-GBSA and molecular simulation studies were performed establishing a correlation between the experimental biology and in silico results. In silico results indicate that all the compounds have better docking scores and predicted binding free energies as compared to cocrystallized ligand with the best potent ligand retaining conserved hydrophobic interactions with residues of catalytic triad (HIS447), catalytic anionic site (CAS) (TRP86, TYR337, PHE338) and peripheral anionic site (PAS) (TYR72, TYR124, TRP286 and TYR341). Root mean square deviation (RMSD = 2.4 Å) and root mean square fluctuations of 10a–AChE complex during simulation proved its stable nature in binding toward acetylcholinesterase. The docked conformation of 10a and other analogs at the binding site have also been simulated with polar and nonpolar interactions interlining the gorge residues from PAS to catalytic triad.  相似文献

In order to reveal the drought resistance and adaptation of the C4 desert plant Haloxylon ammodendron under artificially controlled soil moisture regimes, representative plants were selected to measure canopy photosynthesis using canopy photosynthetic measurement system. The results showed that appropriate soil moisture significantly enhances the canopy and leaf photosynthetic capacity, and extremely high soil moisture is not conducive to the photosynthesis of H. ammodendron.  相似文献
