The acropomatid, Amia (Amioides) grossidens Smith and Radcliffe 1922, was originally described from a single specimen collected off Luzon Island, the Philippines. Although this species was regarded as belonging to Synagrops, it is distinguished from Synagrops by the dentition of the upper jaw, number of dorsal fin spines, and additionally from other acropomatid genera by 14 caudal vertebrae and a posttemporal spine. Therefore, this species should be placed in a monotypic genus Amioides, with elevation of the subgenus to generic rank, compared with diagnostic characters of seven other genera, and this genus and species were herein redescribed based on the holotype.  相似文献

The ophidiid fish genusHomostolus is revised on the basis of 44 specimens. Meristic and morphometric characters strongly indicate that the genus as presently known contains a single species,Homostolus acer Smith et Radcliffe, 1913, withHomostolus japonicus Matsubara, 1943, reduced to synonymy. Geographical variations found in certain meristic characters indicate thatH. acer expanded its range from Philippine waters into both northern and southern waters. The species is distributed on deep-sea floors from the Pacific Ocean off central Japan, to the Indian Ocean off northern Western Australia, and to the Tasman Sea off New South Wales, at bathyal depths from about 400 to 700 m.  相似文献

The ophidiid genusGlyptophidium is revised on the basis of 280 specimens. The seven recognized species fall into two well-defined species-groups: I.argenteum species-group withargenteum Alcock, 1889,effulgens sp. nov. andlucidum Smith et Radcliffe, 1913 is characterized i.a. by having 1 ray in each ventral fin, 1 median basibranchial tooth patch, 11 precaudal vertebrae, origin of dorsal fin above vertebrae nos. 3–4. II.macropus species-group withmacropus Alcock, 1894 (lectotype selected),longipes Norman, 1939,oceanium Smith et Radcliffe, 1913 andjaponicum Kamohara, 1936 (re-established and neotype described) is characterized i.a. by having 2 rays in each ventral fin, 2 median basibranchial tooth patches, 12–13 precaudal vertebrae, origin of dorsal fin above vertebra no. 1 or in front.  相似文献

Sagum posteli Delamare-Deboutteville & Nunes-Ruivo, 1954 (Copepoda: Lernanthropidae) is reported from the white grouper Epinephelus aeneus Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire caught off the Turkish Mediterranean coast. This documents the first discovery of this species in the Mediterranean and is only the second record. The species is redescribed from adult females and the cephalothoracic limbs are described for the first time. The valid species of the genus Sagum Wilson, 1913 are reviewed, and the poorly described species S. poeyi Ortiz, Lalana & Suarez, 2003 is relegated as a junior synonym of S. texanum Pearse, 1952, described from the same host. A key is provided to females of the ten valid species of Sagum and the known hosts for all species are summarised.  相似文献

The morphology of Ilyocryptus tuberculatus Brehm, 1913 is redescribed, based on material from the Niger basin, Africa. The species name was given by Brehm erroneously, because under an optical microscope he mistook internal structures (the columns between the outer and inner walls of the valves) for the tubercules on the valve surface. But this species is undoubtedly valid, and `incorrect' species names must be conserved. Differences between I. tuberculatus and the most similar I. agilis (probably absent from the majority of African waters), I. spinifer (common in Africa), and some other species are discussed. Currently, I. tuberculatus is known for the Central African Republic, Mali and Niger.  相似文献

A new subspecies, Kailasius autocrator murun Korb, ssp. n., of the species Kailasius autocrator (Avinov, 1913) from the eastern part of the Alai Mountain Ridge is described. This subspecies differs from the other known ones in the smaller size (the fore-wing length is less than 23 mm) and in the presence of 5 black rounded spots in the submarginal area of the hind-wing upper side (4 spots in the nominotypical subspecies and K. a. pshartanus). The new subspecies is shown to be the most archaic one among the subspecies of the genus Kailasius by the wing pattern. Possible ways for the origin of local and small populations of morphologically different subspecies of the genus are discussed.  相似文献

The species of the New World syrphid genus, Quichuana Knab, 1913 (Diptera: Syrphidae: Eristalini), are revised and the genus is re‐diagnosed. Twenty‐four new species are described, bringing the total number considered valid to 48. New species were mostly reared from Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Trinidad, and Venezuela. The male of Quichuana picadoi is described for the first time. Quichuana championi is proposed as a synonym of Quichuana cincta, Quichuana aurata as a synonym of Quichuana angustiventris, and Quichuana sepiapennis as a synonym of Quichuana calathea. Quichuana inca var. brevicera is raised to specific status. Lectotypes are designated for Helophilus auratus, Quichuana bezzii, Quichuana fasciata, and Quichuana parisii. A species‐level identification key for both males and females is provided. Male genitalia of 18 species are illustrated. © 2012 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2012, 166 , 72–131.  相似文献

Seven new species of Penicillium Link ex Fries and a new variety of Penicillium novae-caledoniae Smith are described and illustrated. Four of them have been recovered from the air in Madrid, Spain, one from beech leaves litter in a beech forest near Nancy, France, two from sandy soils in Madrid, and one from an andosol in the Spanish Province of Navarra. They clearly differ from all species of the genus described so far and are, therefore, described and proposed as new taxa: Penicillium turolense sp. nov., Penicillium murcianum sp. nov., Penicillium ovetense sp. nov., Penicillium asturianum sp. nov., Penicillium onobense sp. nov., Penicillium castellonense sp. nov., Penicillium aragonense sp. nov., and Penicillium novae-caledoniae Smith, var. album var. nov.  相似文献

In natural communities, closely related species are phenotypically similar but usually spatially and/or temporally isolated. In odonates, interspecific competition occurs not only at the larval or adult stage but also during emergence. We investigated the emergence of two sympatric Anax species, focusing on the temporal pattern, vertical stratification, and body size trend over time. Anax imperator started to emerge two weeks earlier than A. parthenope but most of the emergence season overlapped. Both species showed an asynchronous emergence and the median emergence date was 10.3 days earlier in A. imperator. Sex ratio at emergence was not significantly different from 1:1. Body size of both species increased significantly over time, which contrasts many previous studies. The height of exuvia fixation was not significantly different between species but the larger species A. parthenope selected longer supports.  相似文献

Myersina is redefined, based on the presence of an elongate first dorsal fin in at least the adult males, two preopercular pores, gill membranes fused in the ventral midline and either fused to the isthmus or forming a free fold over it, cycloid scales only on the body, and midline of predorsal region scaleless. It now includes four species traditionally assigned to Cryptocentrus but here placed in Myersina ("C". crocatus, "C". filifer, "C". pretoriusi, and "C". yangii). This concept of Myersina still retains the species originally assigned to it (M. macrostoma, M. lachneri, and M. nigrivirgata). The recently described M. larsonae belongs in Stonogobiops. These two genera almost definitely form a monophyletic group. However, it is possible that the species of Stonogobiops (the monophyly of which is well supported) could be more closely related to one or more species of Myersina than either is to other Myersina species, because the monophyly of the latter genus remains uncertain. Abstract

The Old World syrphid genus Merodon Meigen 1803 is highly species-diverse and has a significant number of endemic species in the circum-Mediterranean area. The present study reports on taxonomic changes resulting from the examination of adult Merodon specimens collected in 15 Turkish provinces during the period 1992 to 2002, and provides new faunistic data. Merodon ilgazense n. sp. is described. Four species of Merodon new to Turkey are recorded: M. armipes Rondani 1843, M. auronites Hurkmans 1993, M. bessarabicus Paramonov 1924 and M. chalybeatus Sack 1913. Lectotypes are designated for two taxa: M. chalybeatus Sack 1913 and M. clunipes Sack 1913. Merodon italicus Rondani 1845 rev. stat. is reinstated as a valid species. Following a detailed study of the type material in different entomological collections, the status of 10 taxa is revised and five new synonymies are proposed: M. albonigrum Vuji Radenkovi &; S?imi 1996 n. syn. (=junior synonym of M. chalybeatus Sack 1913); M. alexeji Paramonov 1925 n. syn. (=junior synonym of M. serrulatus Wiedemann in Meigen 1822); M. aureotibia Hurkmans 1993 n. syn. (=junior synonym of M. vandergooti Hurkmans 1993); M. kaloceros Hurkmans 1993 n. syn. (=junior synonym of M. erivanicus Paramonov 1925); M. longicornis Sack 1913 n. syn. (=junior synonym of M. italicus Rondani 1845).  相似文献

An extensive review of the genus Matrona is presented based on mitochondrial (COI) and nuclear (ITS) sequences from 150 samples which cover all the known taxa of this genus. The separation of two main clades (oreades group: M. oreades, M. corephaea and M. taoi; basilaris group: M. basilaris, M. nigripectus, M. cyanoptera, M. japonica and M. annina) is strongly supported. The classification of all traditional recognized species is confirmed. The Hainan population separates very well from mainland M. basilaris populations, which is also confirmed by geometric morphometric analysis of wing shape. Given the implications of the molecular analysis the genus Matrona is grouped into two subgenera: subgen. Matrona (type species M. basilaris) and D ivortia subgen. nov. (type species M. oreades). A new species, M . ( M .) mazu sp. nov. , from Hainan is described. Brief taxonomic notes on the nine recognized species of the genus are given. Lectotype designations of M. basilaris and M. nigripectus are published. © 2015 The Linnean Society of London  相似文献

Marenzelleria bastropi, a new species of Spionidae (Polychaeta) from the brackish water Currituck Sound, North Carolina, is described. The new species is characterized by the great number of chaetigers between the first neuro- and notopodial hooded hooks, the extension of the nuchal organ up to the end of chaetiger 2/middle of chaetiger 3 and the presence of about 60–90 branchiate chaetigers. Marenzelleria bastropi sp. nov. is closely related to M. neglecta (Sikorski and Bick, 2004) and Marenzelleria viridis (Verrill, 1873). Marenzelleria wireni Augener, 1913 is described here for the first time from western Spitsbergen. Adult specimens are investigated and compared with specimens from other areas of distribution. A key for subadult and adult specimens of all Marenzelleria species is provided.  相似文献

A character survey compiling the morphological information of the subfamily Stygnicranainae was carried out. Two new species of Stygnicranaus Roewer, 1913 are described from Colombia and the new genus Agathocranaus is described from Ecuador. All known species of the subfamily are included in a matrix of 46 morphological characters. Parsimony analysis under implied weights recovered a monophyletic Stygnicranainae including Tryferos Roewer, 1931 plus Stygnicranaus and Agathocranaus. However, the usage of the four subfamilies of Cranaidae as currently defined is abandoned because the two largest subfamilies of Cranaidae – Cranainae and Prostygninae – represent paraphyletic groups (grades), whereas Heterocranainae is a superfluous subfamily, including only the genus Heterocranaus Roewer, 1913. © 2009 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2009, 157 , 470–494.  相似文献
