The study aimed at evaluating the optimum dietary vitamin E requirements using DL‐α‐tocopheryl acetate in the juvenile eel, Anguilla japonica, as assessed by fish growth performance and fish body composition. Five semi‐purified experimental diets were formulated to contain 0 (TA1), 15 (TA17), 30 (TA32), 60 (TA62) and 120 (TA119 mg TA kg?1 diet on a dry matter (DM) basis in the form of DL‐α‐tocopheryl acetate (TA). After a 4‐week conditioning period, fish (15 ± 0.3 g) were randomly distributed into aquaria in groups of 20 at 25 ± 1.0°C (mean ± SD). One of the five diets was fed on a DM basis to fish in three randomly selected aquaria twice daily to satiation (approximately 3% of wet body weight per day at the beginning and 2% of wet body weight per day at the end of the feeding trial) for 12 weeks. At the end of the 12‐week feeding trial, weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR), feed efficiency (FE) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) were determined; these were significantly lower in control fish than in fish fed supplemented diets (P < 0.05). The values for fish fed TA17 were significantly higher than for fish fed TA1, TA62 or TA119 (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in WG, FE or PER among fish that were fed TA17 and TA32, among those that were fed TA32 and TA62, and among those that were fed TA62 and TA119 (P > 0.05). There were also no significant differences in SGR among fish fed TA32, TA62 or TA119 (P > 0.05). A broken‐line regression analysis on the basis of WG, SGR, FE and PER showed that dietary vitamin E requirements of juvenile eels were 21.2, 21.6, 21.2 and 21.5 (mg kg?1 diet), respectively. These results indicate that the dietary vitamin E requirement could be <21.2 mg kg?1 but <21.6 mg kg?1 diet in juvenile eel, A. japonica, when DL‐α‐tocopheryl acetate is used as the dietary vitamin E source.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of elevated dietary levels of vitamin E (α‐tocopherol) on growth performance, proximate composition and fatty acid profiles of juvenile silver pomfret, Pampus argenteus. Three semi‐purified experimental diets were formulated to contain 49% protein and 16% lipid. High docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) tuna oil was added to the diets to supplement DHA. A graded level of vitamin E (0‐, 50‐, and 100 mg kg?1) was added to experimental diets 1 to 3, respectively. Analyzed vit. E levels were 155.2, 195.3 and 236.4 mg kg?1 in diets 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The experiment was conducted for 12 weeks with juvenile silver pomfret (29.6 ± 7.6 g) using a flow‐through system consisting of nine 1‐m3 tanks. Each treatment had three replicates and fish were stocked at the rate of 20 m?3. Growth performance and feed utilization parameters of fish fed diets 2 and 3 were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than in fish fed diet 1, but the parameters in diets 2 and 3 did not differ significantly (P > 0.05). Although whole body protein levels were not influenced by the dietary vit. E levels, whole body lipid in fish fed diet 2 was significantly higher than in fish fed the other diets. The whole body vit. E levels in fish fed diet 2 (22.6 mg kg?1) and diet 3 (24.1 mg kg?1) were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than in those fed diet 1 (18.2 mg kg?1). Whole body total saturated fatty acids were significantly lower, and DHA levels higher in fish fed diets 2 and 3 than those fed diet 1. The results of the present study suggest that increasing dietary supplementation of vit. E in high lipid diets enhances the growth performance of fish and that a dietary level of 196 mg kg?1 vit. E is suitable for the growth of silver pomfret.  相似文献

The objective of the study was to obtain baseline data on haematological parameters, blood cell sizes and morphology in cultured male and female Gymnocypris eckloni Herzenstein, 1891. Forty‐eight healthy 3‐year‐old G. eckloni (26 males: 525.79 ± 48.56 g weight, 34.51 ± 1.88 cm total length; 22 females: 507.60 ± 54.48 g weight, 33.97 ± 1.84 cm total length) were used for this study. Both male and female gonadal maturity were at stage III (maturing). The fish were reared in 25–36 m2 outdoor tanks at dissolved oxygen 6.86 ± 0.48 mg L?1, pH 7.22 ± 0.58, temperature 12.40 ± 0.94°C and stocking density 50–80 fish m?3 during November 2014. The fish were fed commercial carp floating foods containing 35% crude protein three times daily. Haematological values were performed manually on heparin anticoagulated blood specimens using standard methods. The morphological features of blood cells and differential cell counts were done on Wright–Giemsa stained blood smears with no anticoagulants. Erythrocytes, leucocytes (neutrophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes and monocytes) and thrombocytes were distinguished and characterized under light microscope. The percentage of the different leukocytes revealed predominance of small lymphocytes (male: 62.31 ± 2.06%; female: 63.00 ± 2.25%) and nurophiles (male: 23.85 ± 1.51%; female: 23.49 ± 1.67%) followed by fewer monocytes (male: 4.81 ± 0.68%; female: 4.80 ± 0.77%) and few eosinophils (male: 3.73 ± 0.82%; female: 3.52 ± 0.67%). The nurophile percentages of each stage showed that metamyelocyte accounted for the most (male: 13.29 ± 0.88%; female: 13.07 ± 0.98%), followed by banded ones (male: 7.18 ± 0.49%; female: 7.00 ± 0.58%). The microstructure of G. eckloni blood cells was similar to that of other fish. Sex‐dependent differences for the erythrocyte counts, haemoglobin, haematocrit and mean corpuscular haemoglobin were found (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01); while differences in other haematological parameters (P > 0.05) and blood cell morphology between male and female fish were not significant. Hematologic parameters and knowledge of morphological characteristics of male and female G. eckloni blood cells could be utilized to evaluate the health status of this species in captivity.  相似文献

This study was designed to investigate the effects of starvation and re‐feeding cycles on the growth performance and body chemical composition of Oncorhynchus mykiss juveniles. A total of 360 juveniles with initial mean weights (IW) of 8.46 ± 0.07 g (n = 360) were stocked into 400‐L tanks in triplicate for each group, with 30 juveniles per tanks. The control group received regular feed, as is the common practice. The three other groups were periodically starved: 1 day starvation followed by 6 days re‐feeding (S1), 2 days starvation followed by 5 days re‐feeding (S2) and 3 days starvation followed by 4 days re‐feeding (S3). The experiment lasted for 10 weeks, over the course of which the water flow rate was 4 L min?1 and the water quality parameters determined as: temperature 14.4 ± 1.1°C, oxygen 8.2 ± 0.4 mg L?1 and pH 7.5 ± 0.2. At the end of the study, S1 had the best growth performance (final weight, specific growth rate, average daily growth) of all test groups (P < 0.05). The lowest daily feed intake (DFI) and growth performance parameters were observed in S3 (P < 0.05), while protein efficiency ratio (PER), net protein utilization (NPU) and lipid efficiency ratio (LER) were higher in the S3 fish group than in the other groups (P < 0.05). Whole body protein and lipid contents were highest in S1 fish. The hepatosomatic index (HSI) and viscerosomatic index (VSI) were significantly different among groups (P < 0.05). Feed conversion ratio (FCR) was significantly lower in starvation groups S1, S2 and S3 than in the control (P < 0.05). Compensation coefficient (CC) values were higher than 1 in all starvation groups. The concluding indicate that rainbow trout exposed to 1 and 2 days of starvation in week cycles could achieve over compensation compared to the control. Additionally, partial growth compensation and improved feed utilization could be achieved in a starvation group within 3 days in a week, by beginning with the juvenile size over a 10‐week experimental period.  相似文献

In response to the global sustainability drive to lower fishmeal (FM) inclusion in aquatic feeds, exogenous enzymes can improve nutrient digestibility in monogastric plant‐based diets. A 80‐day experiment was conducted to evaluate the combined effects of xylanase and phytase on digestibility, trace mineral utilisation and growth in juvenile red tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus x O. mossambicus, (48.8 g ± 13.9; μ ± STD) fed declining FM diets. Basal diets were formulated to contain 0, 3 and 5% FM with and without xylanase (0.385 g kg?1) and phytase (0.075 g kg?1), forming six treatments. Each treatment was randomly assigned to four replicates, 20 fish tank?1; mean water temperature 28.98 ± 0.73°C. Although the size of the effects was modest, growth performances (feed intake, FCR, growth rate) decreased with lower FM levels (P < 0.05) but improved with enzyme supplementation. Enzyme supplementation increased P digestibility and trace mineral uptake (P < 0.05), but no effects were seen on protein digestibility and N retention. Nevertheless, tilapia fed the enzyme‐supplemented 3% FM and control 5% FM diets performed comparably (P < 0.05). This potentially justifies a 2% FM reduction for tilapia diets using exogenous xylanase and phytase without significant effects on digestibility, trace mineral utilisation and growth.  相似文献

In order to test the hypothesis that a combination of blood cortisol measurements and behavioural observations can be used to estimate the avoidance temperature of the estuarine‐dependent Cape stumpnose, Rhabdosargus holubi (Steindachner, 1881) (Sparidae), fish were kept at increasing water temperatures at a rate of 3°C d?1 over 7 days. Plasma cortisol concentrations were significantly influenced by the interaction of time and treatment (F = 10.9, P < 0.01) with cortisol concentrations in fish kept at increasing temperature averaging 293 ng ml?1 on day 7. This was 5.4 times higher than the average value for control fish (29 ng ml?1). For the first 6 days, average cortisol concentration of control fish was 25.7 ± 5.0 ng ml?1, while values for fish from the temperature treatment ranged from 8.3 to 176.6 ng ng ml?1. These values combined with behaviour observations suggest that cortisol concentration and behavioural changes may be used to detect both a low and an acute stress response.  相似文献

The effects of increasing levels of dietary dextrin on growth performance, body composition, blood chemistry and hepatic triglycerides and glycogen levels were evaluated for juvenile Lebranche mullet, Mugil liza Valenciennes 1836, Mugilidae). Five diets were formulated to be isonitrogenous (350 g kg?1) and isolipidic (6 g kg?1) with increasing dextrin levels (D150: 150 g kg?1; D200: 200 g kg?1; D250: 250 g kg?1; D300: 300 g kg?1; D350: 350 g kg?1). The experimental diets were offered to the fish for 34 days, four times per day, until apparent satiation. Each treatment was tested in triplicate, with nine fish per tank (mean weight 4.69 ± 0.31 g). Fish were reared in a recirculating aquatic system of 15 fibreglass tanks each containing 50 L of saltwater. Growth parameters and body composition of the mullets were not significantly affected (P > 0.05) by the dietary treatments. Plasma glucose concentration declined (P < 0.05) when dietary dextrin increased from D250 to D300, but recovered to the previous values (in reference to D150 and D200) when fish were fed with D350. Glycated haemoglobin, plasma proteins, triglycerides and cholesterol showed no significant differences among these treatments. Hepatic glycogen reached a maximum in treatment D250, followed by D350, D200 and D300, with the lowest concentration of liver glycogen found in D150 (P < 0.05). The concentration of liver triglycerides showed an increase (P < 0.05) in treatments D300 and D350 compared with D200. In conclusion, Mugil liza juveniles can be fed diets with high levels of dietary dextrin with no deleterious effects to their growth or plasma biochemistry, hepatic glycogen or triglycerides.  相似文献

Effects of seawater calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) concentrations on the growth and energy budget of juvenile Paralichthys olivaceus (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846) were investigated at 20°C and a salinity of 30 psu. The Ca/Mg ratio (Ca : Mg = 1 : 3) in the experimental water was kept constant. Five treatments were set: C1, C2, C3, C4, and C5, and the Ca and Mg concentrations were 700, 1100, 1600, 2200, and 2800 (mg L?1), respectively. After a 60‐day feeding trial the P. olivaceus survival rates were not affected significantly by Ca or Mg concentrations in the range of 700–2800 mg L?1. However, the specific growth rates (SGR) and weight gain (WG) of all treatments decreased with ascending Ca and Mg concentrations. The Ca and Mg concentrations had a strong influence on various energy parameters, namely, energy deposited for growth (G), energy lost for respiration (R), and energy lost in excretion (U), but had little influence on energy lost in feces (F). This indicated that the growth rate differences under different concentrations of Ca and Mg mainly resulted from differences of assimilation efficiency and energy channeled into respiration. The highest net growth efficiency was attained at the lowest concentration of Ca and Mg in seawater, and the higher concentrations of Ca and Mg increased the energy channeled to respiration and excretion, which led to significant reduction in growth. Therefore, the optimal growth of P. olivaceus could be obtained by regulating the concentration of Ca and Mg at 700 mg L?1, where the average energy budget was: 100C (100% energy consumed in food) = 47.21 (±0.63) G + 32.89 (±0.42) R + 16.71 (±0.56) F + 3.19 (±0.05) U.  相似文献

The nutritional effects of prebiotic mannan oligosaccharide were evaluated using hematological and blood serum biochemical parameters in cultured juvenile great sturgeon (Huso huso). Fish were offered formulated diets containing two levels of prebiotic mannan oligosaccharide (2 and 4 g kg?1); a basal diet with no prebiotics was used as control. The experiment lasted for 46 days. Blood samples were collected from the caudal veins of 18 apparently healthy fish (average weight 217.77 ± 29.8 g) at the end of the trial. No significant differences were found in the serum enzyme activity levels between treatments (P > 0.05). However, adding mannan oligosaccharide as a supplement to the basal diet resulted in significant differences in lymphocytes and eosinophils between the control and the 2 g kg?1 treatment (P < 0.05) as well as a significant difference in the creatinine factor in the 2 g kg?1 mannan oligosaccharide treatment (P < 0.05). The results show that it would be advantageous to add 2 g kg?1 mannan oligosaccharide to the diets of juvenile great beluga sturgeon (Huso huso).  相似文献

This study examined the effects of anesthesia on the hematological and biochemical parameters as well as the reproductive performance of wild female Persian sturgeon, Acipenser persicus, during controlled spawning. Fourteen mature females were divided into two groups: ‘anesthetized’ and ‘non‐anesthetized’. All activities including transportation, catheterizing and handling were performed with both groups: (i) under anesthesia (150 ppm clove oil), and (ii) without anesthesia. After 10 days storage and handling, blood samples were taken from all fish after anesthesia. No significant differences were found in the reproductive performance of either group. However, differences were found in the hematological parameters, with values being significantly higher in the non‐anesthetized group, including neutrophils (34.36 ± 6.33% vs 23.63 ± 5.22%), monocytes (2.84 ± 1.70% vs 1.27 ± 0.64%), mean corpuscular volume (321.3 ± 39.40 pg vs 228.0 ± 24.46 pg) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (106.9 ± 15.70 fl vs 76.50 ± 7.50 fl). Significantly lower values were found in the non‐anesthetized group for lymphocytes (60.68 ± 7.25% vs 73.54 ± 4.80%), Hb (4.62 ± 0.74 mg dl?1 vs 6.28 ± 1.21 mg dl?1), Hct (13.86 ± 1.76% vs 18.84 ± 3.85%), red blood cell (0.43 ± 0.05 cell mm?3 vs 0.85 ± 0.13 × 106 cell mm?3) and white blood cell (22 403 ± 2240 cell mm?3 vs 35 318 ± 3084 cell mm?3). The non‐anesthetized fish had significantly higher cortisol levels compared to the anesthetized group (62.33 ± 8.85 ng ml?1 vs 46.12 ± 8.07 ng ml?1). There was no difference in plasma glucose levels between groups. It is concluded that the use of clove oil as an anesthetic is suitable for handling of wild female Persian sturgeon in controlled propagation programmes. However, further research is needed to determine a standardized protocol for the safe application of anesthesia for use in sturgeons in general.  相似文献

The cardinal tetra, Paracheirodon axelrodi (Schultz), is the most important ornamental fish exported from Brazil and Colombia. During the transport of this species, Amazon fishermen usually add unmeasured amounts of tetracycline and/or table salt to the water in an effort to mitigate stress and mortality. The aim of the present study was to analyze the effect of salt, the antibiotic tetracycline and the ammonia chelating agent Amquel® in the transport of this species. Cardinal tetras were submitted to a 24‐h boat transport in water containing either tetracycline hydrochloride (2.5 mg L?1), Amquel® (26.41 mg L?1), tetracycline + table salt (2.5 mg L?1 + 66.67 mg L?1), or additive‐free water (control treatment). Whole‐body cortisol measurements showed that fish transported with any water additive had lower cortisol levels compared to control. However, based on ionoregulatory and water quality parameters, the addition of tetracycline, Amquel® or the combination tetracycline + salt to the water of transport of cardinal tetras is not recommended when compared to control. Although Amquel® helped stabilize the pH and diminish total ammonia levels in the transport water, this compound dramatically increased net Na+ and Cl? uptake, and therefore compromised cardinal tetra ionoregulation.  相似文献

This study describes the reproductive biology of the Chinese minnow Hemiculterella sauvagei. The length‐weight relationship, sex ratio, spawning season, size at first maturity, and fecundity were analyzed based on 685 specimens collected from the Chishui River between July 2011 and July 2012. The relationship between standard length (SL) and body weight (BW) were estimated as BW = 2.14 × 10?4 × SL2.801 (R2 = 0.839; N = 413; P < 0.05) for females and BW = 1.31 × 10?4 × SL3.001 (R= 0.868; N = 272; P < 0.05) for males. The female to male sex ratio, 1.52 : 1, differed significantly from a 1 : 1 ratio. Females predominated in standard lengths >12 cm. Analyses of the monthly variation in the gonadosomatic index (GSI), the monthly proportions of macroscopic gonadal maturity, and the size distribution of oocytes consistently suggested a prolonged spawning season of H. sauvagei from March to August, with a peak from April to May. Logistic curves describing the relationship between proportion of maturity (Pr) at each length interval and standard length were estimated as Pr = 1/(1 + e26.867–0.306SL) (R= 0.999; N = 413; P < 0.05) for females and Pr = 1/(1 + e10.522–0.142SL) (R= 0.999; N = 272; P < 0.05) for males. Size at first maturity was estimated as 7.4 cm for males and 8.8 cm SL for females. Absolute fecundity varied from 563 to 5052, with a mean of 2413 ± 874 oocytes per ovary. The relative fecundity was estimated to be 41–299, with a mean of 171 ± 55 oocytes per ovary. The present study provides useful information for fishery management and resources conservation.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate whether increasing the levels of citrus pectin has anti‐nutritional effects when included in the diets of Mugil liza juveniles, including its effects on hepatic metabolism and modulation of the microbial community. Fish (mean weight 0.38 g ± 0.01) were stocked at a density of 15 fishes per tank and fed for 60 days with either a control diet or one of three diets containing different levels of pectin (4, 8 and 12%), in triplicates. The temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity and alkalinity during the trial were, respectively, 25.0°C ± 0.1, 6.82 ± 0.02 mg L?1, 8.10 ± 0.06 and 147 mg ± 12.93 CaCO3. The total ammonia‐nitrogen (TAN) in PC4, PC8 and PC12 treatments were, respectively, 0.69 ± 0.38; 0.57 ± 0.35; 0.64 ± 0.39 and 0.45 ± 0.23 mg L?1. The increasing diet viscosity with pectin inclusion did not cause significant differences in growth. Fish fed with pectin demonstrated a reduction in their percentage body dry matter, crude protein and ash. Hepatic glycogen levels were elevated in the group fed with 12% pectin, while there were no effects in cholesterol and triglycerides levels. Citrus pectin did not exert any modulatory effect on the microbial community. Although the pectin‐supplemented fish showed enteritis during the experimental period, this did not impair animal performance. However, the use of this polysaccharide as a binder in mullet (Mugil liza) diets for longer periods should be considered with caution.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary nucleotides (NT) on growth performance, immune responses, and intestinal morphology of striped catfish, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. Different levels of NT (0, 0.25. 0.5, 0.75, and 1% weight per weight, WW?1) were used in the basal diet and then randomly allocated to triplicate groups of fish with an average initial weight of 1.52 ± 0.11 g for 10 weeks. Nucleotide supplementation did not improve growth parameters significantly (P > 0.05). Feeding fish with a NT‐containing diet significantly improved ACH50 activity and IgM levels in comparison to the control group (P < 0.05). The dietary NT (P < 0.05) affected the intestinal morphology, whereby the folds and enterocyte heights in the mid‐intestine were significantly increased compared to the control group (P < 0.05), while the microvilli length was not affected. The results indicate that feeding striped catfish with commercial NT have significant effects on the immune parameters and intestinal morphology of catfish and that the best NT levels are 0.25 and 0.5%.  相似文献

The present study determined the settling velocity and leaching rates of carbon and nitrogen from the faecal matter of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) fed two commercial diets, high energy (HE) and standard, in three separate experiments (December, March and May) which coincided with winter, spring and summer. Faecal settling velocities for individual samples were in the range of 3.7–9.2 cm s?1. There were significant differences (P < 0.05) in settling velocities among the three experiments, with lowest velocities measured in faecal samples collected in winter and highest velocities measured in samples collected in summer. There were no significant differences (P > 0.05) in faecal settling velocity among fish fed the different diet types. Faecal nutrient content in the different treatment groups prior to leaching was 269–318 mg g?1 for carbon and 28–37 mg g?1 for nitrogen. Both carbon and nitrogen contents were higher in faeces from fish fed the standard diet than in fish fed the HE diet (P < 0.05). Thus the use of HE diets resulted in a 12% reduction in faecal carbon content and an 8% reduction in faecal nitrogen when compared with standard diets. There were no consistent differences in faecal carbon among samples collected during the three experiments; however, significant differences in faecal nitrogen content were detected in samples collected on the three different occasions. Leaching of faecal carbon and faecal nitrogen ranged between 4–14% and 9–16% of the original amount, respectively, after 2.5‐min immersion in sea water, although there was no further significant (P > 0.05) leaching after this time. No significant difference in nutrient leaching rate was found in faeces of fish fed HE and standard diets, and no significant differences in leaching rates were apparent among samples collected at different times of the year. These values suggest there may be an overestimation by dispersion models of the amount of nutrients entering seabed sediments. The amount of nutrients leaching from faeces may also have an important role in nutrient flux in the water column.  相似文献

Effect of salinity (15, 25, 35, 45, and 55‰) on growth, biochemical composition, and lipid productivity of Nannochloropsis oculata CS 179 was investigated under controlled cultivation in a 19‐day study. The results demonstrate that the dry biomass of N. oculata was the highest at a salinity of 25‰ among the treatments in the first 10‐day cultivation (P<0.05). During days 14–19 (stage III), the dry biomass productivity was the highest at a salinity of 35‰ (P<0.05). The algae had the highest chlorophyll a content (26.47 mg g?1) at 25‰ in stage I, and it decreased continuously at stage III. Protein content (as% of dry biomass) of algae reached the highest value of 42.25 ± 2.10% at 15‰, and the lipid content was the highest of 32.11 ± 1.30% of dry biomass at 25‰. However, the lipid productivity of these algae was the highest at 35‰ (64.71 mg L?1 d?1; P<0.001). C16 series content was the highest among the total fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), and eicosapentaenoic acid C20:5n‐3 (EPA) content was high at the low salinity. Fatty acid profiles of N. oculata varied significantly under different salinities.  相似文献

The anaethetic effects of 2‐phenoxyethanol (2‐PE) on possible primary (cortisol level) and secondary (hematological indices and glucose level) stress responses were studied in Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus). Fish were first exposed to 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 and 1.1 ml L?1 2‐PE, and the time to induction (deep anaethesia) and recovery were measured. At a concentration of 0.1 ml L?1, 2‐PE failed to induce deep anaethesia in fish, whereas at concentrations of 0.7, 0.9 and 1.1 ml L?1 all fish were anaethetized within 3 min of exposure. For assessing possible stress effects caused by effective concentrations of 2‐PE, the hematological indices, serum cortisol and glucose were determined in the deeply anaethetized fish as stress indicators. The 2‐PE exposure resulted in significant increases in red blood cell (RBC) values at 0.3 and 0.5 ml L?1; parallel increases in hemoglobin values were also observed at these concentrations (P < 0.01). Moreover, a lower concentration of 2‐PE (0.3 ml L?1) caused a significant increase in hematocrit values (P < 0.05). Among the hematological indices, mean corpuscular volume (MCV) values decreased at 0.5 ml L?1 when compared with the control and other groups (P < 0.05). Serum cortisol level was elevated at 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 concentrations of 2‐PE (P < 0.01). The glucose level followed a trend similar to that observed for cortisol. The outcome of these experiments shows that 2‐PE at a concentration of 0.9 ml L?1 is a suitable anaesthetic for Persian sturgeon. This study demonstrates that rapid induction of deep anaethesia with a relatively high concentration of 2‐PE (0.9 and 1.1 ml L?1) was associated with the lowest effects on signs of physiological stress in Persian sturgeon.  相似文献

Effects of ammonia stress on food ingestion, growth, digestion and antioxidant capacity were investigated in juvenile yellow catfish Pelteobagrus fulvidraco (Richardson) with initial body weights of 20.24 ± 0.18 g. The fish were reared in triplicate in 15 experimental tanks at a rate of 30 fish per tank for 56 days. Water was maintained at a dissolved oxygen (DO) level of over 6.2 mg L?1, pH 7.2–7.6, and temperature of 29.0 ± 1.5°C under a natural 12L: 12D photoperiod. Survival, food ingestion (FI), specific growth rate (SGR), food conversion efficiency (FCE), apparent digestibility coefficient (ADC), total antioxidant capacity (T‐AOC), levels of glutathione (GSH) and malonaldehyde (MDA), and activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH‐PX) of the juveniles were determined in total ammonia nitrogen (NH3‐N+NH4‐N) levels of 0 (control group), 3.36, 6.72, 13.44 and 26.88 mg L?1. The results show that the survival, FI, SGR, FCE, and ADC decreased significantly with an increase in total ammonia nitrogen (p < .05), and a significantly negative correlation between SGR and total ammonia nitrogen levels (p < .05). T‐AOC, SOD, CAT, GSH‐PX and GSH in the blood, liver and gills were found to decline significantly with an increase in the total ammonia nitrogen level (p < .05), while the MDA in the blood, liver and gills was elevated significantly with the increase in total ammonia nitrogen (p < .05). The results indicate a threshold in the induction of the T‐AOC and activities of antioxidant enzymes in yellow catfish tissues with a total ammonia nitrogen increase. In the present study the total ammonia nitrogen threshold thus changed from 6.72 mg L?1 in the juvenile yellow catfish.  相似文献

This study was conducted to test the replacement of fishmeal (FM) with a combination of corn gluten meal (CGM)‐soybean meal (SBM) (at a ratio of 58 : 42, respectively) fortified with lysine, taurine and monocalcium phosphate (MCP) in turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) diets. FM as the main protein source in the control diet (FM100) was replaced in 15% decrements while increasing the combination of replacement material: 85% FM (FM85), 70% FM (FM70), 55% FM (FM55) and 40% FM (FM40). The diets were fed to triplicate groups (n = 25 per group) for 9 weeks (water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH and salinity of 18.59 ± 0.06°C, 7.32 ± 0.02 mg L?1, 7.73 ± 0.01 and 8.46 ± 0.04 g L?1, respectively). Initial weight of fish was 286.1 ± 0.1 g. At the end of the experiment, growth, feed and nutrient utilization performance of fish fed FM85 and FM70 were similar to FM100, but a further increase in plant protein led to a significant reduction of these parameters. Whole body, fillet, viscera and liver nutrient compositions were not affected significantly; however, whole body lipid levels were significantly lower in fish on FM55 and FM40 than those on FM100. The fish in–fish out ratio in the diets decreased from 2.12 in FM100 to 1.00 in FM40. The results suggest that the FM level could be reduced by 30% with a combined use of CGM‐SBM supplemented with lysine, taurine and MCP.  相似文献
