A Gram-stain-positive, halophilic, rod-shaped, non-motile, spore forming bacterium, strain NKC1-2T, was isolated from kimchi, a Korean fermented food. Comparative analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence demonstrated that the isolated strain was a species of the genus Virgibacillus. Strain NKC1-2T exhibited high level of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with the type strains of Virgibacillus xinjiangensis SL6-1T (96.9%), V. sediminis YIM kkny3T (96.8%), and V. salarius SA-Vb1T (96.7%). The isolate grew at pH 6.5–10.0 (optimum, pH 8.5–9.0), 0.0–25.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 10–15% NaCl), and 15–50°C (optimum, 37°C). The major menaquinone in the strain was menaquinone-7, and the main peptidoglycan of the strain was meso-diaminopimelic acid. The predominant fatty acids of the strain were iso-C14:0, anteisio-C15:0, iso- C15:0, and iso-C16:0 (other components were < 10.0%). The polar lipids consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol. The genomic DNA G + C content of NKC1-2T was 42.5 mol%. On the basis of these findings, strain NKC1-2T is proposed as a novel species in the genus Virgibacillus, for which the name Virgibacillus kimchii sp. nov. is proposed (=KACC 19404T =JCM 32284T). An aerobic, Gram-stain negative, rod-shaped, non-motile bacterium, designated as strain HQA918T, was isolated from an ascidian, Botryllus schlosseri, which was collected from the coast of Weihai in the north of the Yellow Sea, in China. The strain grew optimally at 28–30 °C, at pH values 7.0–8.0, and in the presence of 1.0–3.0% (w/v) sodium chloride (NaCl). A phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain HQA918T can be affiliated with the family Flavobacteriaceae in the phylum Bacteroidetes, with 92.7% similarity to its close relatives. The major fatty acids identified were iso-C15:0, iso-C15:0 3-OH, and summed feature 3 (iso-C15:0 2-OH and/or C16:1ω7c). The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminolipid, and five unidentified polar lipids. The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 44.1 mol%. On the basis of the phylogenetic, genotypic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic data, this organism should be classified as a representative of a novel genus, for which the name Ascidiaceibacter gen. nov. is proposed. An aerobic, Gram-stain negative, non-spore-forming and psychrotolerant bacterium, designated strain XJ109T, was isolated from a sewage water sample collected from Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain XJ109T represents a novel member of the family Flavobacteriaceae. The strain showed 95.5 % similarity with the 16S rRNA gene sequence of Empedobacter brevis LMG 4011T, 95.4 % with Chishuiella changwenlii BY4T, 95.3 % with Empedobacter falsenii NF 993T and 92.3 % with Weeksella virosa DSM 16922T. Strain XJ109T showed the common phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics of the family Flavobacteriaceae, containing menaquinone-6 (MK-6) as the predominant respiratory quinone and iso-C17:0 3OH and iso-C15:0 as the major fatty acids. The polar lipid profile consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified phospholipid and two unidentified lipids. The genomic DNA G+C content was 38.0 mol%. Strain XJ109T was positive for catalase and oxidase activities, and it was observed to grow at 4–30 °C (optimal 16–20 °C), pH 6.5–10.0 (optimal 7.0–7.5) and in media containing 0–2.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimal 0.5 %). On the basis of the polyphasic evidence presented, strain XJ109T is considered to represent a novel genus and species of the family Flavobacteriaceae, for which the name Algoriella xinjiangensis gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A novel Gram-negative, orange pigmented, strictly aerobic bacterium, designated strain IP9T, was isolated from seawater at the sea shore of Incheon Eulwang-ri beach, South Korea. Cells of strain IP9T were observed to be straight or slightly curved rods and colonies to be round and convex. Strain IP9T was found to be catalase and oxidase positive, and non-motile. Growth was observed in the temperature range of 10–37 °C (optimum at 30 °C), pH range of 6–10 (optimum at pH 7–8) and salt concentration range of 0–7% (w/v) NaCl (optimum at 0–1%). On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity and phylogenetic analysis, strain IP9T was found to be related to the members of the family Flavobacteriaceae, being closely related to Hwangdonia seohaensis KCTC 32177T (95.3% sequence similarity). The DNA G?+?C content of the novel strain was determined to be 39.1 mol%. The major polar lipids were found to be phosphatidylethanolamine, three unidentified aminoglycolipids and two unidentified glycolipids. The major fatty acids (>?10%) were identified as iso-C15:0 and iso-C17:0 3-OH. The predominant quinone was found to be menaquinone 6 (MK-6). Based on the biochemical, phylogenetic and physiological data, we conclude that strain IP9T (=?KCTC 52523T?=?JCM 31732T) represents the type species of a novel genus of the family Flavobacteriaceae for which the name Thalassorhabdus aurantiaca gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed.  相似文献

A Gram staining negative, rod-shaped, aerobic bacterial strain J5-3T with a single polar flagellum was isolated from coking wastewater collected from Shaoguan, Guangdong, China. It was motile and capable of optimal growth at pH 6–8, 30 °C, and 0–2 % (w/v) NaCl. Its predominant fatty acids were 11-methyl C18:1 ω7c (29.2 %), C16:0 (20.6 %), C19:0 cyclo ω8c (18.2 %), C18:0 (11.0 %), and C18:1 ω7c/C18:1 ω6c (10.9 %) when grown on trypticase soy agar. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, two unknown glycolipids (GL1, GL2), and two unknown phospholipid (PL1, PL2). The predominant ubiquinone was Q-10, and the genome DNA G+C content was 61.7 mol %. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain J5-3T belonged to the family Hyphomicrobiaceae in Alphaproteobacteria. It shared the 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities of 93.8–96.1 % with the genus Devosia, 94.5–94.8 % with the genus Pelagibacterium, and <92.0 % with all the other type strains in family Hyphomicrobiaceae. It can be distinguished from the closest phylogenetic neighbors based on several phenotypic and genotypic features, including α-galactosidase activity, tetracycline susceptibility, major fatty acid composition, polar lipid profile, DNA gyrase B subunit (gyrB) gene sequence, and random-amplified polymorphic DNA profile. Therefore, we consider strain J5-3T to represent a novel species of a novel genus within the family Hyphomicrobiaceae, for which the name Paradevosia shaoguanensis gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A Gram stain-negative, yellowish green-pigmented, facultatively anaerobic, motile, curved rod-shaped bacterium designated as strain JJ016T was isolated from an artificial lake in South Korea, and characterized using a polyphasic approach. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain JJ016T indicated that the isolate belonged to the family Rhodocyclaceae and exhibited 95.0% identity to Uliginosibacterium gangwonense 5YN10-9T. The major cellular fatty acids of the novel strain were summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω6c and/or C16:1 ω7c), C16:0, C14:0, and summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω7c and/or C18:1 ω6c). The DNA G+C content of strain JJ016T was 61.9 mol%. The major respiratory quinone and major polar lipid of strain JJ016T were ubiquinone-8 and phosphatidylethanolamine, respectively. Based on the morphological and physiological properties and the biochemical evidence presented, we concluded that strain JJ016T represents a novel species of a new genus in the family Rhodocyclaceae, for which the name Viridibacterium curvum gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A novel halophilic bacterium, strain K7T, was isolated from kimchi, a traditional Korean fermented food. The strain is Gram-positive, motile, and produces terminal endospores. The isolate is facultative aerobic and grows at salinities of 0.0–25.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 10–15% NaCl), pH 5.5–8.5 (optimum pH 7.0–7.5), and 15–42°C (optimum 37°C). The predominant isoprenoid quinone in the strain is menaquinone-7 and the peptidoglycan of the strain is meso-diaminopimelic acid. The major fatty acids of the strain are anteisio-C15:0, iso-C15:0, and, C16:0 (other components were < 10.0%), while the major polar lipids are diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, and three unidentified lipids. A phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity showed that the isolated strain was a cluster of the genus Gracilibacillus. High levels of gene sequence similarity were observed between strain K7T and Gracilibacillus orientalis XH-63T (96.5%), and between the present strain and Gracilibacillus xinjiangensis (96.5%). The DNA G+C content of this strain is 37.7 mol%. Based on these findings, strain K7T is proposed as a novel species: Gracilibacillus kimchii sp. nov. WS-10T–a Gram-negative, non-motile, and aerobic bacterial strain–was isolated from the sediment of a shallow stream in Korea. The optimum ranges of temperature and pH for growth were 20–40°C (optimum 28°C) and pH 6.0–8.0 (optimum pH 7.0), respectively. The DNA G+C content of strain WS-10T was 72.7 mol%. The major fatty acids (>5%) were summed feature 8 (C18:1ω7c), summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1ω6c), C16:0, and C18:1 2-OH. The major polar lipids consisted of phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, and unidentified aminolipids. Q-10 was the predominant respiratory quinone. The highest similarities in the 16S rRNA gene sequence were shown with Paracraurococcus ruber (95.3%), Belnapia soli (95.3%), B. moabensis (95.1%), and B. rosea (95.0%). A phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence comparisons showed that strain WS-10T formed a distinct line within a clade containing the genera Paracraurococcus, Craurococcus, and Belnapia in the family Acetobacteraceae. On the basis of polyphasic evidence, strain WS-10T represents a novel species of a new genus in the family Acetobacteraceae, for which the name Dankookia rubra gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A novel pale pink-coloured, strictly aerobic, Gram-stain negative bacterial strain, designated strain KER25-12T, was isolated from a laboratory air-conditioning system in South Korea. Cells were observed to be non-motile cocci showing positive catalase and oxidase reactions. Strain KER25-12T was found to grow at 10–30 °C (optimum, 25–30 °C), at pH 4.0–9.0 (optimum, pH 6.0–7.0) and in the presence of 0–2% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0%). Ubiquinone-10 and spermidine were detected as the sole respiratory quinone and the predominant polyamine, respectively. The major fatty acids were identified as summed feature 8 (comprising C18:1 ω7c and/or C18:1 ω6c), summed feature 3 (comprising C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c), C16:0 and C18:0. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain KER25-12T was determined to be 70.0 mol%. The major polar lipids were identified as diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine and an unidentified aminolipid. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence comparison revealed that strain KER25-12T belongs to the genus Roseomonas and shows high sequence similarity to Roseomonas aerilata 5420S-30T (98.57%), Roseomonas pecuniae N75T (97.44%) and Roseomonas vinacea CPCC 100056T (97.40%). Based on the morphological, physiological, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic features, strain KER25-12T is concluded to represent a novel species of the genus Roseomonas, for which the name Roseomonas aeriglobus sp. nov. is proposed. A pale yellow bacterial strain, designated JJ-A5T, was isolated form an agricultural soil from Jeju Island in Republic of Korea. Cells of the strain were Gram-stain-negative, motile, flagellated and rod-shaped. The strain grew at 15–30°C, pH 6.0–9.0, and in the presence of 0–1.5% (w/v) NaCl. Growth occurred on R2A, but not on Luria-Bertani agar, nutrient agar, trypticase soy agar and MacConkey agar. The strain utilized alachlor as a sole carbon source for growth. The strain JJ-A5T showed 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities lower than 95.4% with members of the family Sphingomonadaceae. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the strain belongs to the family Sphingomonadaceae and strain JJ-A5T was distinctly separated from established genera of this family. The strain contained Q-10 as dominant ubiquinone and spermidine as major polyamine. The predominant cellular fatty acids were summed feature 8 (C18:1ω7c and/or C18:1ω6c), summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1ω6c), 11-methyl C18:1ω7c, C16:0 and C14:0 2-OH. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, sphingoglycolipid, and phosphatidylcholine. The DNA G + C content of the strain was 62.7 mol%. On the basis of the phenotypic, genomic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, strain JJ-A5T is considered to represent a novel genus and species within the family Sphingomonadaceae, for which the name Tardibacter chloracetimidivorans gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A Gram-negative, non-motile, aerobic bacterium, designated strain IP7T, was isolated from seawater at the shore of the Incheon Eulwang-ri beach, South Korea. Cells of strain IP7T are straight or slightly rod-shaped and colonies are round, convex and orange-yellow. Strain IP7T is flexirubin-negative, mild halophile, catalase-and oxidase-positive, and produces a yellow-orange carotenoid pigment. Growth is optimal at 30°C, pH 7–9, and 2.0–4.0% NaCl (w/v). On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, strain IP7T is affiliated with genus Aestuariibaculum in the family Flavobacteriaceae, the closest relative being Aestuariibaculum suncheonense SC17T (98.3% sequence similarity). The DNA G + C content of the novel strain is 37.4 mol%. The only quinone is MK-6 menaquinone. Iso-branched C15:0, iso-branched C15:1 G, and iso-branched C17:0 3-OH are major fatty acids. The major polar lipids are phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminoglycolipid and two unidentified glycolipids. The DNA-DNA hybridization value of strain IP7T with Aestuariibaculum suncheonense SC17T is 28.87%. Based on the collective DNA-DNA hybridization, biochemical, phylogenetic and physiological data, we report a novel species of the genus Aestuariibaculum for which the name Aestuariibaculum marinum sp. nov. is proposed. A Gram-stain-negative and orangish yellow-pigmented bacterial strain, designated PR1014KT, was isolated from an automobile evaporator core collected in Korea. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain PR1014KT was related with the members of the genus Spirosoma (94.7–90.2%) and closely related with Spirosoma lacussanchae CPCC 100624T (94.7%), Spirosoma knui 15J8-12T (94.3%), and Spirosoma soli MIMBbqt12T (93.3%). The strain grew at 15–40°C (optimum, 25°C), pH 6.5–7.0 (optimum, 6.5) and 0–1% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0%). The predominant fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c), C16:0, iso-C15:0, C16:1 ω5c, and iso-C17:0 3-OH. The major menaquinone was MK-7. The polar lipid profile of the strain indicated that the presence of one phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminolipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids, and three unidentified lipids. The DNA G+C content of the strain was 47.4 mol%. On the basis of the phenotypic, genotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, strain PR1014KT represents a novel species in the genus Spirosoma, for which the name Spirosoma metallicus sp. nov. A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated, and coccoid, ovoid or rod-shaped bacterium, designated JDTF-65T, was isolated from a tidal flat on the south-western sea in Republic of Korea. Strain JDTF-65T grew optimally at 25°C, at pH 7.0–8.0 and in the presence of 2.0% (w/v) NaCl. Strain JDTF-65T exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities of 97.1–97.6% to the type strains of ‘Aliisedimentitalea scapharcae’, Phaeobacter gallaeciensis, Phaeobacter inhibens, Leisingera aquimarina, Tropicibacter litoreus, Sulfitobacter pseudonitzschiae, and Pseudoseohaeicola caenipelagi. Phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain JDTF-65T forms an independent lineage within the radiation enclosed by the family Rhodobacteraceae. Strain JDTF-65T contained Q-10 as the predominant ubiquinone and C18:1 ω7c as the major fatty acid. The major polar lipids of strain JDTF-65T were phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified aminolipid, and one unidentified lipid. The DNA G+C content of strain JDTF-65T was 56.8 mol% and its DNA-DNA relatedness values with the type strains of the phylogenetically related species were 13–27%. Differential phenotypic properties revealed that strain JDTF-65T is separated from representatives of some phylogenetically related taxa. On the basis of the data presented, strain JDTF-65T represents a new genus and species within the family Rhodobacteraceae, for which the name Jindonia aestuariivivens gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A Gram-stain negative, ovoid or short rod-shaped, aerobic and non-motile bacterial strain, designated J82T, was isolated from a seawater sample collected from the coast of Yellow Sea in Qingdao, China. The strain grew at salinities of 1.0–6.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2.5%). Growth occurred at pH 6.0-8.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and 10–42 °C (optimum, 28–30 °C). The genomic DNA G + C content was determined to be 57.5 mol%. Q-10 was detected as the respiratory quinone. The major fatty acid (>10%) was Summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω7c and/or C18:1 ω6c). The polar lipids consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified aminolipids and two unidentified polar lipids. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain J82T forms a distinct evolutionary lineage within the family Rhodobacteraceae. On the basis of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic characteristics, the strain merits recognition as representative of a novel genus and species within the family Rhodobacteraceae for which the name Rubricella aquisinus gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. A Gram-stain positive, moderately thermophilic, aerobic, spore-forming and rod-shaped bacterium, designated YIM 73012T, was isolated from a sediment sample collected from a hot spring located in Tibet, China, and was characterized by using a polyphasic taxonomy approach. The strain is oxidase positive and catalase negative. Growth occurred at 37–65 °C (optimum, 45–50 °C), at pH 6.0–8.5 (optimum, pH 7.0–7.5) and with 0.5–3.5% NaCl (optimum, 0.5–1.0%, w/v). The major fatty acids were iso-C15:0, iso-C16:0 and C16:0. The major polar lipids comprised of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylmethylethanolamine and phosphatidylglycerol. The cell wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid. The respiratory quinone was MK-7. The G+C content of genomic DNA was 43.6 mol%. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that the strain YIM 73012T forms a distinct lineage with respect to the genus Anoxybacillus in the family Bacillaceae. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence identities the closely related phylogenetic neighbours are Anoxybacillus caldiproteolyticus DSM 15730T (96.7%) and Saccharococcus thermophilus DSM 4749T (96.6%). Strain YIM 73012T was distinguishable from the closely related reference strains by the differences in phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic characteristics, and represents a novel species of the genus Anoxybacillus, for which the name Anoxybacillus sp. nov. is proposed. The type species is Anoxybacillus sediminis sp. nov., with the type strain YIM 73012T (=?KCTC 33884T?=?DSM 103835T).  相似文献

A Gram-stain-negative, facultative aerobic, non-flagellated, and rod-shaped bacterium, designated AR-13T, was isolated from a seawater on the East Sea in South Korea, and subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic study. Strain AR-13T grew optimally at 30°C, at pH 7.0–8.0 and in the presence of 0–0.5% (w/v) NaCl. The phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain AR-13T fell within the clade comprising the type strains of Arcobacter species, clustering coherently with the type strain of Arcobacter venerupis. Strain AR-13T exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity values of 98.1% to the type strain of A. venerupis and of 93.2–96.9% to the type strains of the other Arcobacter species. Strain AR-13T contained MK-6 as the only menaquinone and summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1ω6c), C16:0, C18:1ω7c, and summed feature 2 (iso-C16:1 I and/or C14:0 3-OH) as the major fatty acids. The major polar lipids detected in strain AR-13T were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, and one unidentified aminophospholipid. The DNA G+C content was 28.3 mol% and its mean DNA-DNA relatedness value with the type strain of A. venerupis was 21%. Differential phenotypic properties, together with its phylogenetic and genetic distinctiveness, revealed that strain AR-13T is separated from recognized Arcobacter species. On the basis of the data presented, strain AR-13T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Arcobacter, for which the name Arcobacter acticola sp. nov. is proposed. A novel Gram-stain-negative, motile by means of gliding, and short rod-shaped bacterium, designated HS916T, was isolated from soil polluted by sewer water in Cheonan-si, South Korea. Growth occurred at 10–35°C (optimum 30°C), pH 6.0–8.0 (optimum pH 7.0), and 0–1% sodium chloride (NaCl, w/v). Based on similarities of 16S rRNA gene sequences, strain HS916T was closely related to members of the genus Flavobacterium, exhibiting the highest sequence similarities with Flavobacterium glycines Gm-149T (96.4%), followed by F. granuli Kw05T (96.3%), F. fluminis 3R17T (96.3%), F. aquicola TMd3a3T (96.2%), and F. nitratireducens N1T (96.2%). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain HS916T was placed in a monophyletic cluster with F. nitratireducens N1T and F. fluminis 3R17T. The predominant fatty acids (> 5% of the total) of strain HS916T were iso-C15:0, anteiso-C15:0, iso-C15:0 3-OH, C17:1ω6с, C16:0 3-OH, iso-C17:0 3-OH, and summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7с and/or C16:1ω6с). The major polar lipids of the strain comprised phosphatidylethanolamine, unidentified aminolipids, and five unidentified lipids. The predominant respiratory quinone and the major polyamine were menaquinone-6 (MK-6) and symhomospermidine, respectively. The DNA G + C content of strain HS916T was 34.9 mol%. Based on polyphasic analyses, strain HS916T represents a novel species belonging to the genus Flavobacterium, for which the name Flavobacterium parvum sp. nov. is proposed. A novel strain K-4-16T was isolated from forest soil of Namsan Mountain, Seoul, South Korea, and was taxonomically characterized by a polyphasic approach. Strain K-4-16T was observed to be a Gram-staining negative, grayish white-coloured, motile with peritrichous flagella, and rod shaped bacterium. It was able to grow at 15–45 °C, at pH 4.5–10.5, and at 0–4% (w/v) NaCl concentration. Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain K-4-16T belongs to the genus Acidovorax and is closely related to Acidovorax anthurii CFBP 3232T (98.3% sequence identity), Acidovorax konjaci K2T (97.9% sequence identity), Acidovorax valerianellae CFBP 4730T (97.8% sequence identity), and Acidovorax caeni R-24608T (97.8% sequence identity). The only respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-8. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, and diphosphatidylglycerol. The predominant fatty acids of strain K-4-16T were summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1ω6c), C16:0, and summed feature 8 (C18:1ω7c and/or C18:1ω6c). The genomic DNA G+C content of this novel strain was 64.7 mol%. The DNA–DNA relatedness between strain K-4-16T and its reference strains were below the threshold value of 70%. The morphological, physiological, chemotaxonomic, and phylogenetic analyses clearly distinguished this strain from its close phylogenetic neighbors. Thus, strain K-4-16T represents a novel species of the genus Acidovorax, for which the name Acidovorax monticola sp. nov. is proposed. A rod-shaped, round and white colony-forming strain AD18T was isolated from the soil on Halla mountain in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea. Comparative analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that this strain was closely related to Burkholderia oklahomensis C6786T (98.8%), Burkholderia thailandensis KCTC 23190T (98.5%). DNA-DNA relatedness (14.6%) indicated that the strain AD18T represents a distinct species that is separate from B. oklahomensis C6786T. The isolate grew at pH 5.0–9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0), 0–3% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0%), and temperature 10–40°C (optimum 35°C). The sole quinone of the strain was Q-8, and the predominant fatty acids were C16:0, C17:0 cyclo, and C19:0 cyclo ω8c. The genomic DNA G + C content of AD18T was 65.6 mol%. Based on these findings, strain AD18T is proposed to be a novel species in the genus Burkholderia, for which the name Burkholderia alba sp. nov. is proposed (= KCCM 43268T = JCM 32403T). A Gram-stain-positive, polar flagella-containing, rod-shaped, obligate aerobic, endospore-forming bacterium, strain TK1655T, was isolated from the traditional Korean food gochujang. The 16S rRNA sequence of strain TK1655T was a member of the genus Oceanobacillus similar to that of the type strain of Oceanobacillus oncorhynchi subsp. incaldanensis DSM 16557T (97.2%), O. oncorhynchi subsp. oncorhynchi JCM 12661T (97.1%), O. locisalsi KCTC 13253T (97.0%), and O. sojae JCM 15792T (96.9%). Strain TK1655T was oxidase and catalase positive. Colonies were circular, smooth, low convex, cream in colour, and measured about 0.5–1.0 mm in diameter. The range for growth was 20–40°C (optimal, 30°C), pH 6.0–10.0 (optimal, 7.0), and 2–16% (w/v) NaCl (optimal, 2%). Additionally, the cells contained meso-DAP, and the predominant isoprenoid quinone was MK-7. The complex polar lipids were consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), phosphatidylcholine (PC). The major cellular fatty acid components were iso-C15:0, anteiso-C15:0, iso-C16:0, and anteiso-C17:0, and the DNA G+C content was 40.5%. DNA-DNA relatedness of our novel strain and reference strain O. locisalsi KCTC 13253T, O. oncorhynchi subsp. incaldanensis DSM 16557T, O. oncorhynchi subsp. oncorhynchi JCM 12661T was 45.7, 43.8, and 41.9%. From the results of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, and phylogenetic analyses of strain TK1655T, we propose the novel species Oceanobacillus gochujangensis sp. nov. The type strain is TK1655T (=KCCM 101304T =KCTC 33014T =CIP 110582T =NBRC 109637T).  相似文献
