The establishment of a new rate-correction method for the QT interval is presented for long-term telemetry ECG recording in free-moving beagle dogs. First, in order to define the QT-RR relation to derive the correction formula, the diurnal variations of the QT and RR intervals and the influencing factors were analyzed, and the QT-RR regression coefficient beta was estimated under various conditions: steady and non-steady states of animal, light and dark periods, and over 24 h. In the results, the diurnal rhythm of the QT interval was synchronized with the RR interval reflecting the physical and emotional states of the animal. The coefficient beta had considerable variation during the day: beta; 0.276 +/- 0.052 (maximum to minimum: 0.495 to 0.153). Thus, it was considered that the ideal rate-correction technique for telemetry ECG requires the selection of a flexible coefficient beta adjusted to the condition of the measurement. Therefore, rate-correction utilizing analysis of covariance estimating the coefficient beta for each dog, was compared with previously proposed formulas which fix the rate-correction coefficient, based on the capacity to dissociate the effects of heart rate on the QT interval. This was then tested by the levels of discrimination apparent in the QT prolongation caused by a class III antiarrhythmic drug, which ranked the formulas on the levels of correction achieved as follows: covariance adjustment > Matsunaga > Van de Water > Bazett. Thus, the rate-correction method utilizing analysis of covariance is proven adequate for data from telemetry ECG recordings.  相似文献

Myocardium undergoes functional changes in the infarcted region primarily due to ischemia. Following myocyte functional alterations of the noninfarcted myocardium are caused by remodelling and hypertrophy. We have monitored and compared changes in the electrocardiographical (ECG) image after coronary artery occlusion (CAO, n=5) and intracoronary endothelin-1 (ET-1, n=3) administration during a 6-month period. In 3 dogs, the CAO was repeated 6 months after the first occlusion. Signal-averaged ECG (SA ECG) was recorded before the operation and 10 days, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after myocardial infarction (MI). The modified Wigner distribution was used for spectrotemporal analysis of the SA ECG. Eight-hour Holter monitoring was performed in each dog before and after experimental MI. Spectrotemporal representations of the QRS complex were stabilized after the first 1-month period in the group of dogs after CAO. The same results were also observed after the repeated CAO. No arrhythmias were recorded 9 days after CAO. The spectrotemporal representations of the QRS complex after intracoronary ET-1 administration were not stabilized during the whole observed period. Very few arrhythmic events were recorded by Holter monitoring already 3 days after intracoronary ET-1 injection. Experimental MI induced by CAO caused a changed ECG image, which was stable from 1 month after MI induction till the end of the monitoring. However, the ECG image after ET-1 administration was not stable during the whole observed period. No arrhythmic events were recorded in either group 3 months postoperatively that could be caused by healthy myocardial status before the experimental MI induction. In clinical practice, however, ischemic heart disease usually precedes the MI. Arrhythmogenic substrate could thus be a consequence of combination of healthy status of the myocardium before MI and MI itself.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to establish a database for electrocardiographic parameters of Beagle dogs used for toxicological studies and to evaluate the influence of supplier, sex, heart rate (HR) and body position for electrocardiogram (ECG) recording on ECG parameters. Peripheral ECG leads were recorded from 934 female and 946 male dogs from Marshall Farms and 27 females and 30 males from Harlan, either standing on a table or restrained in a hammock. HR, RR, PQ and QT intervals, P and QRS duration and P-wave amplitude were measured. There were no major differences between sexes for ECG parameters. The axis of the heart was shifted to the left when the animals were restrained in a hammock compared to when they were standing on a table. The PQ interval was higher (about 9%) in Harlan than in Marshall dogs. HR was negatively correlated with QT (coefficient of linear correlation: r=-0.61 to -0.74), which emphasizes the need for a formula correcting QT interval for HR when interpreting changes in QT interval. HR was also negatively correlated with PQ intervals (r=-0.26 to -0.11), whereas a positive correlation was found between HR and the amplitude of the P wave (r=0.21-0.34). The level of the respiratory sinus arrhythmia (SA) was quantified by calculating the ratio of maximum to minimum RR interval measured over a 10 s period. This ratio was negatively correlated with HR (r =-0.49 to -0.33). Therefore, at high HRs, SA was less marked than at low HRs, but it did not completely disappear. Analysis of beat-to-beat variation indicated that QT and PQ intervals and the amplitude of P wave fluctuated over time and the degree of this variability was positively correlated with the level of SA. In conclusion, we have established reference values for the duration and/or amplitude of some ECG parameters both in terms of means and variability over the recording period, and we have evaluated the influence of body position, genetic strain and HR on the ECG parameters. These data can be used as baseline for the interpretation of the ECG of Beagle dogs.  相似文献

QRS波群的准确定位是ECG信号自动分析的基础。为提高QRS检测率,提出一种基于独立元分析(ICA)和联合小波熵(CWS)检测多导联ECG信号QRS的算法。ICA算法从滤波后的多导联ECG信号中分离出对应心室活动的独立元;然后对各独立元进行连续小波变换(CWT),重构小波系数的相空间,结合相空间中的QRS信息对独立元排序;最后检测排序后独立元的CWS得到QRS信息。实验对St.Petersburg12导联心率失常数据库及64导联犬心外膜数据库测试,比较本文算法与单导联QRS检测算法和双导联QRS检测算法的性能。结果表明,该文算法的性能最好,检测准确率分别为99.98%和100%。  相似文献

Many biological species possess a circadian clock, which helps them anticipate daily variations in the environment. In the absence of external stimuli, the rhythm persists autonomously with a period of approximately 24 h. However, single pulses of light, nutrients, chemicals or temperature can shift the clock phase. In the case of light- and temperature-cycles, this allows entrainment of the clock to cycles of exactly 24 h. Circadian clocks have the remarkable property of temperature compensation, that is, the period of the circadian rhythm remains relatively constant within a physiological range of temperatures. For several organisms, temperature-regulated processes within the circadian clock have been identified in recent years. However, how these processes contribute to temperature compensation is not fully understood. Here, we theoretically investigate temperature compensation in general oscillatory systems. It is known that every oscillator can be locally temperature compensated around a reference temperature, if reactions are appropriately balanced. A balancing is always possible if the control coefficient with respect to the oscillation period of at least one reaction in the oscillator network is positive. However, for global temperature compensation, the whole physiological temperature range is relevant. Here, we use an approach which leads to an optimization problem subject to the local balancing principle. We use this approach to analyse different circadian clock models proposed in the literature and calculate activation energies that lead to temperature compensation.  相似文献

Functional, morphological and histochemical alterations were studied in 32 dogs within the period of 5 days--18 months after resection of 32-80% of the pulmonary tissue. According to the presence of hypertrophy of the heart right ventricle wall, morphological changes of the myocardium and disorders in the functional features of the cardiovascular activity all the animals were divided into 4 groups: 1--control animals; 2--experimental animals without hypertrophy of the right ventricle wall; 3--experimental animals with hypertrophy of the right ventricle wall in the stage of compensation; 4--experimental animals with hypertrophy of the right ventricle wall in the stage of decompensation. In the myocardium of the second group animals a decrease of aerobic processes and an increase of anaerobic ones were found to take place. The aerobic processes increased and the anaerobic processes decreased in the myocardium of dogs having hypertrophy of the right ventricle wall in the stage compensation. In the muscle of the decompensated pulmonary heart there occurred a pronounced decrease of aerobic and anaerobic processes, a disturbance of the protein and fat metabolism. All this resulted in a decreased contractive function of the myocardium with distrubed hemodynamics. The investigations have shown the interrelationships of morphological, histochemical and ECG alterations in the dynamics of the pulmonary heart development after resection of lungs.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel Wavelet Energy based diagnostic distortion (WEDD) measure is proposed to assess the reconstructed signal quality for ECG compression algorithms. WEDD is evaluated from the Wavelet coefficients of the original and the reconstructed ECG signals. For each ECG segment, a Wavelet energy weight vector is computed via five-level biorthogonal discrete Wavelet transform (DWT). WEDD is defined as the sum of Wavelet energy weighted percentage root mean square difference of each subband. The effectiveness of this measure is validated by linear (linear polynomial and cubic polynomial) and nonlinear (logistic) regression analysis between the computed WEDD values and the mean opinion score (MOS) given by cardiologists. WEDD provides a better prediction accuracy and exhibits a statistically better monotonic relationship with the MOS ratings than Wavelet based weighted percentage root mean square difference (PRD) measure (WWPRD), PRD and other objective measures. Standard correlation coefficient and Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient (SROCC) between the WEDD/MOS ratings is 0.969 and 0.9624, respectively.  相似文献

Effective and ineffective levels of the isolated and combined action of inhaled 239Pu and external gamma radiation on dogs were estimated by some changes in the ECG. Specific share of each factor in the combined effect and the quality coefficient of 239Pu were estimated by two criteria of changes in the ECG. The data were extrapolated to man by the most reliable criterion, that is, the decrease in the ECG voltage indicated by the sum of R I, II, III waves.  相似文献

The diagnostic and prognostic potentialities of Kardio-Vizor-06 (KV) in early detection of deviations in the myocardial electrophysiological parameters were assessed using the standard functional bicycle stress exercise test. Ten apparently healthy subjects from different age groups were examined. The data obtained with KV (baseline, loading, and in the recovery period) were compared with the results of the standard ECG (12 leads) and blood pressure (BP) methods. Data agreement was observed in 90% of cases; KV underestimated the test tolerance in 10% of cases. Detailed examination of ECG verified the presence of incipient alterations in the myocardium. Thus, unlike other methods, this technology provides unique information and predicts transient functional disorders that are precursors of pathology. The high noise resistance of the automated analysis of the dispersion of the ECG signal makes the device applicable directly during functional loading tests.  相似文献

Independent component analysis (ICA) is an emerging technique for multidimensional signal processing. In recent years, these techniques have been proposed for solving a large number of biomedical applications. This work reviews current knowledge on ICA in electrocardiographic (ECG) analysis. Effects of different electrodes on bioelectrical impedance values measured by the Selco bioelectrical impedance plethysmograph (SIF-881, Japan) were investigated using 8 adult females (age: 35.3 +/- 7.6 yr, Ht: 156.9 +/- 3.8 cm, Wt: 57.1 +/- 9.9 kg, and hydrodensitometrically determined body fat: 29.4 +/- 6.0%). The Lectec MP3000 electrode (Liberty Carton, USA) and the Bipolar electrode (Sanwa, Japan) produced significantly higher impedance values when compared to the Disposable electrode (Adovance, Japan) and the ECG electrode (Nihon Kohden, Japan). The coefficient of variation was significantly lower for the Disposable electrode (0.8%) and the ECG electrode (0.2%) than that for the Lectec MP3000 electrode (2.3%) and the Bipolar electrode (4.9%). In conclusion, the ECG electrode provides higher bioelectrical impedance values with the highest reproducibility in the assessment of human body composition by the bioelectrical impedance plethysmography.  相似文献

Background

Drosophila heart tube is a feasible model for cardiac physiological research. However, obtaining Drosophila electrocardiograms (ECGs) is difficult, due to the weak signals and limited contact area to apply electrodes. This paper presents a non-invasive Gallium-Indium (GaIn) based recording system for Drosophila ECG measurement, providing the heart rate and heartbeat features to be observed. This novel, high-signal-quality system prolongs the recording time of insect ECGs, and provides a feasible platform for research on the molecular mechanisms involved in cardiovascular diseases.

Methods

In this study, two types of electrode, tungsten needle probes and GaIn electrodes, were used respectively to noiselessly conduct invasive and noninvasive ECG recordings of Drosophila. To further analyze electrode properties, circuit models were established and simulated. By using electromagnetic shielded heart signal acquiring system, consisted of analog amplification and digital filtering, the ECG signals of three phenotypes that have different heart functions were recorded without dissection.

Results and Discussion

The ECG waveforms of different phenotypes of Drosophila recorded invasively and repeatedly with n value (n>5) performed obvious difference in heart rate. In long period ECG recordings, non-invasive method implemented by GaIn electrodes acts relatively stable in both amplitude and period. To analyze GaIn electrode, the correctness of GaIn electrode model established by this paper was validated, presenting accuracy, stability, and reliability.

Conclusions

Noninvasive ECG recording by GaIn electrodes was presented for recording Drosophila pupae ECG signals within a limited contact area and signal strength. Thus, the observation of ECG changes in normal and SERCA-depleted Drosophila over an extended period is feasible. This method prolongs insect survival time while conserving major ECG features, and provides a platform for electrophysiological signal research on the molecular mechanism involved in cardiac arrhythmia, as well as research related to drug screening and development.  相似文献

Circadian clocks exhibit ‘temperature compensation’, meaning that they show only small changes in period over a broad temperature range. Several clock genes have been implicated in the temperature‐dependent control of period in Arabidopsis. We show that blue light is essential for this, suggesting that the effects of light and temperature interact or converge upon common targets in the circadian clock. Our data demonstrate that two cryptochrome photoreceptors differentially control circadian period and sustain rhythmicity across the physiological temperature range. In order to test the hypothesis that the targets of light regulation are sufficient to mediate temperature compensation, we constructed a temperature‐compensated clock model by adding passive temperature effects into only the light‐sensitive processes in the model. Remarkably, this model was not only capable of full temperature compensation and consistent with mRNA profiles across a temperature range, but also predicted the temperature‐dependent change in the level of LATE ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL, a key clock protein. Our analysis provides a systems‐level understanding of period control in the plant circadian oscillator.  相似文献

The kinins are implicated in the pathogenesis of scorpion envenomation. Therefore, this study was carried out to examine the involvement of kinins for the ECG abnormalities induced by M. tamulus concanesis, (BT) venom in anaesthetized rats. ECG was recorded using needle electrodes with limb lead II configuration. The PR interval, QRS wave pattern, QRS duration, ST segment and heart rate were examined in saline only, venom alone, and venom after aprotinin groups. BT venom (5 mg/kg) produced heart block of varying degree and ischemia-like changes in ECG wave pattern and the animals died within 30 min after exposure to venom. In aprotinin pretreated animals, the initial ECG changes produced by venom persisted, but after 15 min the ECG pattern improved and the animals survived for the entire period of observation (120 min). The results indicate that aprotinin protected the rats against the cardiotoxicity induced by BT venom.  相似文献

The main purpose of the present work is the definition of a fully automatic procedure for correlation dimension (D2) estimation. In the first part, the procedure for the estimation of the correlation dimension (D2) is proposed and tested on various types of mathematical models: chaotic (Lorenz and Henon models), periodical (sinusoidal waves) and stochastic (Gaussian and uniform noise). In all cases, accurate D2 estimates were obtained. The procedure can detect the presence of multiple scaling regions in the correlation integral function. The connection between the presence of multiple scaling regions and multiple dynamic activities cooperating in a system is investigated through the study of composite time series. In the second part of the paper, the proposed algorithm is applied to the study of cardiac electrical activity through the analysis of electrocardiographic signals (ECG) obtained from the commercially available MIT-BIH ECG arrhythmia database. Three groups of ECG signals have been considered: the ECGs of normal subjects and ECGs of subjects with atrial fibrillation and with premature ventricular contraction. D2 estimates are computed on single ECG intervals (static analysis) of appropriate duration, striking a balance between stationarity requisites and accurate computation requirements. In addition, D2 temporal variability is studied by analyzing consecutive intervals of ECG tracings (dynamic analysis). The procedure reveals the presence of multiple scaling regions in many ECG signals, and the D2 temporal variability differs in the three ECG groups considered; it is greater in the case of atrial fibrillation than in normal sinus rhythms. This study points out the importance of considering both the static and dynamic D2 analysis for a more complete study of the system under analysis. While the static analysis visualizes the underlying heart activity, dynamic D2 analysis insights the time evolution of the underlying system. In recent years the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) has become a suitable method for characterizing autonomous cardiovascular regulation. The aim of this study was to investigate the differences in HRV estimated from continuous blood pressure (BP) measurement by different methods in comparison to electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. The beat-to-beat intervals (BBI) were simultaneously extracted from the ECG and blood pressure of 9 cardiac patients (10 min, Colin system, 1000-Hz sampling frequency). For both data types, slope, peak, and correlation detection algorithms were applied. The short-term variability was calculated using concurrent 10-min BP and ECG segments. The root mean square errors in comparison to ECG slope detection were: 1.74 ms for ECG correlation detection; 5.42 ms for ECG peak detection; 5.45 ms for BP slope detection; 5.75 ms for BP correlation detection; and 11.96 ms for BP peak detection. Our results show that the variability obtained with ECG is the most reliable. Moreover, slope detection is superior to peak detection and slightly superior to correlation detection. In particular, for ECG signals with higher frequency characteristics, peak detection often exhibits more artificial variability. Besides measurement noise, respiratory modulation and pulse transit time play an important role in determining BBI. The slope detection method applied to ECG should be preferred, because it is more robust as regards morphological changes in the signals, as well as physiological properties. As the ECG is not recorded in most animal studies, distal pulse wave measurement in combination with correlation or slope detection may be considered an acceptable alternative.  相似文献

In this work, computationally efficient and reliable cosine modulated filter banks (CMFBs) are designed for Electrocardiogram (ECG) data compression. First of all, CMFBs (uniform and non-uniform) are designed using interpolated finite impulse response (IFIR) prototype filter to reduce the computational complexity. To reduce the reconstruction error, linear iteration technique is applied to optimize the prototype filter. Then after, non-uniform CMFB is used for ECG data compression by decomposing ECG signal into various frequency bands. Subsequently, thresholding is applied for truncating the insignificant coefficients. The estimation of the threshold value is done by examining the significant energy of each band. Further, Run-length encoding (RLE) is utilized for improving the compression performance. The method is applied to MIT-BIH arrhythmia database for performance analysis of the proposed work. The experimental observations demonstrate that the proposed method has accomplished high compression ratio with the admirable quality of signal reconstruction. The proposed work provides the average values of compression ratio (CR), percent root mean square difference (PRD), percent root mean square difference normalized (PRDN), quality score (QS), correlation coefficient (CC), maximum error (ME), mean square error (MSE), and signal to noise ratio (SNR) are 23.86, 1.405, 2.55, 19.08, 0.999, 0.12, 0.054 and 37.611 dB, respectively. The proposed 8-channel uniform filter bank is used to detect the R-peak locations of the ECG signal. The comparative analysis shows that beats (locations and amplitudes) of both signals (original and reconstructed signals) are same.  相似文献

采用生物信号采集处理系统对草甘膦异丙胺盐胁迫条件下中华大蟾蜍(BufogargarizansCantor)的心率和心电活动的相关指标进行了测定和分析。不同浓度的草甘膦异丙胺盐溶液被喷施到中华大蟾蜍的体表,由皮肤进入体内而作用于心脏。试验结果表明:随着草甘膦异丙胺盐处理浓度的增大,中华大蟾蜍的心率减慢,心电图中P波、R波和T波的电压峰值降低,而P-R间期、QRS期和Q-T间期的时值延长。草甘膦异丙胺盐胁迫条件下,蟾蜍心率与心电图的各项指标有显著相关性,可用多元线性回归模型分别对蟾蜍心率与心电图中P、R、T波和P-R、QRS、Q-T间期的相关关系进行拟合。多元回归分析结果表明,蟾蜍心电图中Q-T间期值对心率的影响最大,可以推断草甘膦异丙胺盐主要是通过延长蟾蜍心电活动周期中Q-T间期时值即心室收缩期而延长心动周期,导致蟾蜍心率减慢。由此可见草甘膦异丙胺盐水剂的喷施对中华大蟾蜍心脏的电活动周期和机械活动周期均造成了一定影响。  相似文献

Objective To evaluate the clinical usefulness of complete preparticipation cardiovascular screening in a large cohort of sports participants.Design Cross sectional study of data over a five year period.Setting Institute of Sports Medicine in Florence, Italy.Participants 30 065 (23 570 men) people seeking to obtain clinical eligibility for competitive sports.Main outcome measures Results of resting and exercise 12 lead electrocardiography.Results Resting 12 lead ECG patterns showed abnormalities in 1812 (6%) participants, with the most common abnormalities (>80%) concerning innocent ECG changes. Exercise ECG showed an abnormal pattern in 1459 (4.9%) participants. Exercise ECG showed cardiac anomalies in 1227 athletes with normal findings on resting ECG. At the end of screening, 196 (0.6%) participants were considered ineligible for competitive sports. Among the 159 participants who were disqualified at the end of the screening for cardiac reasons, a consistent proportion (n=126, 79.2%) had shown innocent or negative findings on resting 12 lead ECG but clear pathological alterations during the exercise test. After adjustment for possible confounders, logistic regression analysis showed that age >30 years was significantly associated with an increased risk of being disqualified for cardiac findings during exercise testing.Conclusions Among people seeking to take part in competitive sports, exercise ECG can identify those with cardiac abnormalities. Follow-up studies would show if disqualification of such people would reduce the incidence of CV events among athletes.  相似文献
