Effect of nitric oxide (NO) in mitigating stress induced by arsenic (As) was assessed in Pistia stratiotes, with NO supplied as sodium nitroprusside (SNP). Plants were exposed to four treatments: control, SNP (0.1 mg L?1), As (1.5 mg L?1), As + SNP (1.5 and 0.1 mg L?1), for seven days (analyses of growth, absorption of As and mineral nutrients) and for 24 h (analyses of concentration of reactive oxygen intermediates (ROIs), antioxidant capacity and photosynthesis). P. stratiotes accumulated high concentrations of As and this accumulation wasn't affected by the addition of SNP, but the tolerance index of the plant to As increased. SNP attenuated effects of As on the absorption of mineral nutrients (Ca, Fe, Mn, and Mg), but not for phosphorus, and maintained concentrations of ROIs to normal levels, probably due to the increase in antioxidant capacity. The As damaged the photosynthesis by the decrease in pigment contents and by disturbance the photochemical (loss of PSII efficiency and increases in non-photochemical quenching coefficient) and biochemical (reductions in carbon assimilation, increase in the Ci/Ca and ΦPSIICO2 ratios) steps. The addition of SNP restored these parameters to normal levels. Thus, NO was able to increasing the resistance of P. stratiotes to As.

The aim of the present study was to survey the growth and astaxanthin production of E17, an astaxanthin-rich mutant of Chlorella zofingiensis, through feeding the low-cost carbon source cane molasses. In heterotrophic batch cultivation, E17 fed with pretreated molasses achieved biomass (1.79 g L?1 day?1) and astaxanthin (1.99 mg L?1 day?1) productivities comparable to those with glucose, which were about 2- and 2.8-fold of those fed with untreated molasses, respectively. Molasses-induced astaxanthin accumulation may be attributed to the elicited expression of carotenogenic genes, in particular the genes specifically responsible for the ketolation and hydroxylation of β-carotene to form astaxanthin. A two-stage fed-batch strategy was employed to grow E17 and induce astaxathin accumulation, resulting in 45.6 g L?1 biomass and 56.1 mg L?1 astaxanthin, the highest volumetric astaxanthin yield ever reported for this alga. In addition, the astaxanthin production by E17 was tested with a semi-continuous culture method, where the directly diluted raw molasses (giving 5 g L?1 sugar) was used as the carbon source. Little growth inhibition of E17 was observed in the semi-continuous culture with a biomass productivity of 1.33 g L?1 day?1 and an astaxanthin productivity of 0.83 mg L?1 day?1. The mixotrophic semi-continuous cultures enhanced the biomass and astaxanthin productivities by 29.3 % and 42.2 %, respectively. This study highlights the potential of using the industrially cheap cane molasses towards large-scale cost-saving production of the high-value ketocarotenoid astaxanthin.  相似文献

The present study designed two sets of experiments by using the uniform design method and investigated the effects of medium components on the accumulation of bioactive compounds (polysaccharide and kinsenoside) in rhizomes, in order to select a suitable culture medium for the rhizome suspension culture of Anoectochilus roxburghii (Wall.) Lindl. Among the combinations of Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium strengths and plant growth regulator (benzylaminopurine, BA; kinetin, KT; and α-naphthaleneacetic acid, NAA) concentrations, and the combinations of nitrogen, phosphorus, and sucrose concentrations, the maximum yield of polysaccharides and kinsenoside was achieved with 0.75 × MS?+?2.0 mg L?1 BA?+?0.2 mg L?1 KT?+?0.5 mg L?1 NAA and 45 mM nitrogen?+?0.93 mM phosphorus?+?35 g L?1 sucrose, respectively. Therefore, the optimal rhizome suspension culture medium was 0.75 × MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg L?1 BA, 0.2 mg L?1 KT, 0.5 mg L?1 NAA, and 35 g L?1 sucrose. Yeast extract (YE) enhanced bioactive compound accumulation in rhizomes. The polysaccharide and kinsenoside production was significantly improved when 75 mg L?1 YE was added to the culture medium after 30 d of rhizome suspension culture; 8.3 g L?1 of polysaccharide and 6.1 g L?1 of kinsenoside were obtained after 4 d of YE treatment. The 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity of YE-treated rhizomes was higher than that of YE-untreated rhizomes, demonstrating enhanced antioxidant activity of the treated bioreactor-cultured rhizomes.  相似文献

This study aims to evaluate the anatomy of calli and their chemico-morphological characteristics after in vitro culture. Callus was induced from leaf explants of Rosmarinus officinalis derived from in vitro grown plants on media containing 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4D) and thidiazuron (TDZ) supplementation. Both capitate and peltate glandular trichomes were recognized in R. officinalis callus by light and electron microscopy. Histochemical tests showed positive reactions to lipophilic and terpenoid compounds for capitate trichomes and parenchyma or meristematic cells. Volatiles were isolated by simultaneous distillation–extraction and analysed by gas chromatography. Specifically, the use of 2,4D was shown to have a positive effect on the capacity of R. officinalis friable callus to produce volatile monoterpene compounds relative to TDZ. The main volatiles produced by callus were α-pinene, β-pinene and camphor produced in media containing 0.5 and 1.0 mg L? 1 of 2,4D. Significant quantities of α-pinene, β-pinene and camphor were produced with 0.5 mg L? 1 of 2,4D. On the basis of this accumulated evidence, it can be concluded that R. officinalis callus produces volatiles in developing glandular trichomes and that cellular aggregates and in vitro culture can be used for the production of volatiles under in vitro controlled conditions from selected plant material.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the inductive effect of starch and maltose, and the repressive/inhibitory effect of glucose, on amy-1 gene expression and α-amylase production by Wickerhamia sp., using continuous culture under transient-state conditions at a dilution rate (D) of 0.083 h?1. Induction and repression kinetics of α-amylase were studied by changing the medium feed from glucose to maltose or starch in the induction experiments and vice versa in the repression experiments. Expression levels of amy-1 gene were measured by RT-qPCR. Results showed that starch was a more efficient inducer of α-amylase synthesis compared to maltose, with maximum accumulation rate constants of 0.424 and 0.191 h?1, respectively. In contrast, α-amylase synthesis in starch and maltose cultures was partially repressed by glucose as indicated by a specific activity close to basal levels and a decay constant rate (??0.065 and ??0.069 h?1, respectively) higher than ??D. A linear dependence of the specific rate of α-amylase production on mRNA relative abundance of amy-1 gene was observed. An inhibitory effect of glucose was not observed even at a concentration of 30 g L?1. In conclusion, the transient continuous culture is a useful tool to determine the qualitative and quantitative effects of maltose and starch on α-amylase induction and of glucose on enzyme repression, as well as to obtain a detailed understanding of the dynamic behavior of the yeast culture. Furthermore, results showed that amylaceous substrates can be very effective carbon sources for the production of α-amylase without being inhibited by glucose.  相似文献

The effects of sodium nitroprusside (SNP, a donor of NO) on cadmium (Cd) toxicity in lettuce seedlings were studied. SNP was added into hydroponic systems or sprayed directly on the leaves of plants grown with and without Cd. Excess supply of Cd (100 μM) caused growth inhibition, dramatically increased Cd accumulation in both leaves and roots, and inhibited the absorption of Ca, Mg, Fe and Cu. Excess Cd also decreased activities of superoxide dismutase peroxidase and catalase in leaves and roots, and increased the accumulation of superoxide anion (O 2 ·? ), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and malondialdehyde (MDA). Root or foliar applications of exogenous NO alleviated Cd-induced growth suppression, especially root application of 250 μM SNP and foliar addition of 500 μM SNP. Addition of SNP promoted the chlorophyll synthesis suggesting that the photosynthesis was up-regulated. Exogenous NO increased Cd-decreased activities of antioxidant enzymes and markedly diminished Cd-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and MDA accumulation. Moreover, the absorption of Ca, Mg, Fe and Cu was increased, indicating that exogenous NO stimulated H+-ATPase activity to promote sequestration or uptake of ions. In addition, exogenous NO also inhibited Cd transfer from roots to shoots, which may indicate that Cd retention in roots induced by NO plays a significant role in Cd tolerance in lettuce seedlings. These data suggest that under Cd stress, exogenous NO improves photosynthesis by increasing chlorophyll synthesis, protects lettuce seedlings against oxidative damage by scavenging ROS, helps to maintain the uptake of nutrient elements, and inhibits Cd transferred to shoots effectively.  相似文献

The present study deals with the microcosm study of Fe (Iron) phytoremediation using Eichhornia crassipes, Lemna minor, Pistia stratiotes and Salvinia cucullata species collected from the Loktak Lake, a Ramsar Site which exists in north-eastern India (an Indo-Burma hotspot region). Efficiency of these four macrophytes was compared using different Fe concentrations of 1 mg L?1, 3 mg L?1 and 5 mg L?1 for 4 days, 8 days and 12 days, respectively. E. crassipes was the most efficient macrophyte whereas L. minor was the least efficient. E. crassipes removed the highest percentage of Fe, i.e. 89% from 1 mg L?1, 81.3% from 3 mg L?1 and 73.2% from 5 mg L?1 in 12-day experiment.  相似文献

20-Hydroxyecdysone is one of the most common ecdysteroids in plants with potential therapeutic applications. In this study, cell suspension cultures of Achyranthes aspera were raised in shake flasks to investigate the production of 20-hydroxyecdysone. The quantification and characterization of 20-hydroxyecdysone in the cultures were done by High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and Liquid Chromatography-quadrupole time-of- flight mass spectrometry (LC-Q-TOF) analyses. For raising the suspension, calli initiated from in vitro grown leaf explants were cultured in liquid Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium augmented with combinations of 2, 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (1 mg L?1) and α-naphthaleneacetic acid (1 mg L?1). Maximum growth index of the cell suspension was 9.9, which was achieved during 20th day of culture (final phase of exponential growth). At this stage, the biomass accumulated was 1.09 ± 0.09 g dry weight (DW) and the 20-hydroxyecdysone concentration was 0.24 mg g?1 DW. Eliciting the cultures with 0.6 mM Methyl jasmonate for 6 days; enhanced the production of 20-hydroxyecdysone production to 0.35 mg g?1 DW. By augmenting the cultures with the precursors namely cholesterol (10 mg L?1) and 7-dehydrocholesterol (10 mg L?1), production of 20-hydroxyecdysone was boosted to 0.31 mg g?1 DW and 0.28 mg g?1 DW respectively.  相似文献

A hydroponic experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of cadmium (Cd) on chlorophyll fluorescence and photosynthetic parameters on a Cd accumulating plant of Elsholtzia argyi. Four weeks-seedlings of E. argyi were treated with 0 (CK) 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 and 100 μmol L?1 Cd for 21days. Fv/Fo, Fv/Fm, qP, ΦPSП, ETR and Fv′/Fm′ were significantly increased under low Cd (5–15 μmol L?1 for Fv/Fo, Fv/Fm and qP, 5–10 μmol L?1 for ΦPSП, ETR and Fv′/Fm′) stress, and these parameters were similar to control under Cd ≤ 50μmol L?1. All above parameters were significantly decreased at 100 μmol L?1 Cd. Compared with control, Pn was significantly (P < 0.05) increased under 5–30 μmol L?1 Cd. However, 50 and 100 μmol L?1 Cd significantly (P < 0.05) reduced it. Gs and Tr were substantially decreased at 50–100 and 40–100 μmol L?1 Cd, respectively. Ci was significantly increased at 50 and 100 μmol L?1 Cd. High Cd-induced decrease of Pn is not only connected to stomatal limitation but also to the inhibition of Fv/Fo, Fv/Fm, ΦPSП, qP, ETR and increase of NPQ. Maintain chlorophyll fluorescence and photosynthesis parameters under its Cd tolerance threshold were one of tolerance mechanisms in E. argyi.  相似文献

Energy-positive sewage treatment can be achieved by implementation of oxygen-limited autotrophic nitrification/denitrification (OLAND) in the main water line, as the latter does not require organic carbon and therefore allows maximum energy recovery through anaerobic digestion of organics. To test the feasibility of mainstream OLAND, the effect of a gradual temperature decrease from 29 to 15 °C and a chemical oxygen demand (COD)/N increase from 0 to 2 was tested in an OLAND rotating biological contactor operating at 55–60 mg NH4 +–N?L?1 and a hydraulic retention time of 1 h. Moreover, the effect of the operational conditions and feeding strategies on the reactor cycle balances, including NO and N2O emissions were studied in detail. This study showed for the first time that total nitrogen removal rates of 0.5 g N?L?1?day?1 can be maintained when decreasing the temperature from 29 to 15 °C and when low nitrogen concentration and moderate COD levels are treated. Nitrite accumulation together with elevated NO and N2O emissions (5 % of N load) were needed to favor anammox compared with nitratation at low free ammonia (<0.25 mg N?L?1), low free nitrous acid (<0.9 μg N?L?1), and higher DO levels (3–4 mg O2?L?1). Although the total nitrogen removal rates showed potential, the accumulation of nitrite and nitrate resulted in lower nitrogen removal efficiencies (around 40 %), which should be improved in the future. Moreover, a balance should be found in the future between the increased NO and N2O emissions and a decreased energy consumption to justify OLAND mainstream treatment.  相似文献

Microalgae are a promising feedstock for biofuel production. Lipid content in microalgae could be enhanced under nutrient depletion. This work investigated the effect of the nutrient on lipid accumulation in Ankistrodesmus sp. culture. Batch cultures were carried out using fresh BG11 medium, and after the harvest, the medium was reused for the next culture; this method was repeated two times. The maximum lipid productivity of 29.75 mg L?1 day?1 was obtained from the culture with the second reuse medium. In continuous cultures, Ankistrodesmus sp. was cultured in both fresh and modified BG11 mediums. The modified BG11 medium was adjusted to resemble the content of the first reuse medium. As a comparison between batch and continuous cultures, it was proven that the productivity in the continuous culture was better than in the batch, where the achievable maximum biomass and lipid were 188.30 and 38.32 mg L?1 day?1. The maximum lipid content of 34.22% was obtained from the continuous culture at a dilution rate of 0.08 day?1, whereas the maximum saturated and unsaturated fatty acid productivities of 79.96 and 104.54 mg L?1 day?1 were obtained at a dilution rate of 0.16 day?1.  相似文献

The aim of this paper was to investigate the capacity of the aquatic macrophyte Potamogeton pusillus to remove As3+, As5+, and Hg from aqueous solutions. The plants were exposed to 0 mg.L?1, 0.1 mg.L?1, 0.5 mg.L?1, 1 mg.L?1, or 2 mg.L?1 of As3+, As5+, and Hg for 20 days. The results obtained for the individual removal of As3+, As5+, and Hg from water solutions, together with their accumulation in P. pusillus, indicate that this plant can be effectively used for the removal of Hg and of moderate concentrations of As3+ or As5+ (0.1 mg.L?1) from aquatic systems. Roots and leaves accumulated the highest amount of As when the plant was exposed to As5+, but when it was exposed to As3+, the root accumulated the highest amount of As, and the leaves, the highest amount of Hg. When compared to other aquatic plants species, the results showed that P. pusillus demonstrated a higher Hg accumulation (2465 ± 293 µg.g?1) when the transfer coefficient was 40,580 ± 3762 L.kg ?1, showing the great potential of this macrophyte for phytoremediation of water contaminated with Hg. To the extent of our knowledge, this is the first report on bioaccumulation of As3+, As5+, and Hg by P. pusillus.  相似文献

Chenopodium ambrosioides L. can tolerate high concentrations of manganese and has potential for its use in the revegetation of manganese mine tailings. Following a hydroponic investigation, transmission electron microscopy (TEM)-energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS) was used to study microstructure changes and the possible accumulation of Mn in leaf cells of C. ambrosioides in different Mn treatments (200, 1000, 10000 μmol·L?1). At 200 μmol·L?1, the ultrastructure of C. ambrosioides was clearly visible without any obvious damage. At 1000 μmol·L?1, the root, stem and leaf cells remained intact, and the organelles were clearly visible without any obvious damage. However, when the Mn concentration exceeded 1000 μmol·L?1 the number of mitochondria in root cells decreased and the chloroplasts in stem cells showed a decrease in grana lamellae and osmiophilic granules. Compared to controls, treatment with 1000 μmol·L?1 or 10000 μmol·L?1 Mn over 30 days, gave rise to black agglomerations in the cells. At 10000 μmol·L?1, Mn was observed to form acicular structures in leaf cells and intercellular spaces, which may be a form of tolerance and accumulation of Mn in C. ambrosioides. This study has furthered the understanding of Mn tolerance mechanisms in plants, and is potential for the revegetation of Mn-polluted soils.  相似文献

Thirty Chlorella and 30 Scenedesmus strains grown in nitrogen-stressed conditions (70 mg L?1 N) were analyzed for biomass accumulation, lipid productivity, protein, and fatty acid (FA) composition. Scenedesmus strains produced more biomass (4.02?±?0.73 g L?1) after 14 days in culture compared to Chlorella strains (2.57?±?0.12 g L?1). Protein content decreased and lipid content increased from days 8 to 14 with an increase in triacylglycerol (TAG) accumulation in most strains. By day 14, Scenedesmus strains generally had higher lipid productivity (53.5?±?3.7 mg lipid L?1 day?1) than Chlorella strains (35.1?±?2.8 mg lipid L?1 day?1) with the lipids consisting mainly of C16–18 TAGs. Scenedesmus strains generally had a more suitable FA profile with higher amounts of saturated fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and a smaller polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) component. Chlorella strains had a larger PUFA component and smaller MUFA component. The general trend in the FA composition of Chlorella strains was oleic > palmitic > α-linolenic = linoleic > eicosenoic > heptadecenoic > stearic acid. For Scenedesmus strains, the general trend was oleic > palmitic > linoleic > α-linolenic > stearic > eicosenoic > palmitoleic > heptadecenoic acid. The most promising strains with the highest lipid productivity and most suitable FA profiles were Scenedesmus sp. MACC 401, Scenedesmus soli MACC 721, and Scenedesmus ecornis MACC 714. Although Chlorella sp. MACC 519 had lower lipid productivity, the FA profile was good with a lower PUFA component compared to the other Chlorella strains analyzed and a low linolenic acid concentration.  相似文献

Citric acid was produced by five species of the yeast Candida after growth on a medium containing soy biodiesel-based crude glycerol. After growth on a medium containing 10 g L?1 or 60 g L?1 crude glycerol for 168 hr at 30°C, Candida parapsilosis ATCC 7330 and C. guilliermondii ATCC 9058 produced the highest citric acid levels. On 10 g L?1 or 60 g L?1 crude glycerol for 168 hr at 30°C, the citric acid level produced by C. parapsilosis ATCC 7330 was 1.8 g L?1 or 11.3 g L?1, respectively, while C. guilliermondii ATCC 9058 produced citric acid concentrations of 3.0 g L?1 or 10.4 g L?1, respectively. Biomass production by C. guilliermondii ATCC 9058 on 10 g L?1 or 60 g L?1 crude glycerol for 168 hr at 30°C was highest at 1.2 g L?1 or 6.9 g L?1, respectively. The citric acid yields observed for C. guilliermondii ATCC 9058 after growth on 10 g L?1 or 60 g L?1 crude glycerol (0.35 g g?1 or 0.21 g g?1, respectively) were generally higher than for the other Candida species tested. When similar crude glycerol concentrations were present in the culture medium, citric acid yields observed for some of the Candida species utilized in this study were about the same or higher compared to citric acid yields by Yarrowia lipolytica strains. Based on the findings, it appeared that C. guilliermondii ATCC 9058 was the most effective species utilized, with its citric acid production being similar to what has been observed when citric acid-producing strains of Y. lipolytica were grown on crude glycerol under batch conditions that could be of significance to biobased citric acid production.  相似文献

Copper (Cu) accumulation, subcellular distribution and the chemical forms of Cu, and amino acids metabolism were investigated in castor bean (Ricinus communis L.) callus via in vitro culture. The castor bean callus was obtained from the embryo cultured in Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium and then transferred to MS medium with different Cu doses (0, 20, 40, and 60 mg L?1; Cu0, Cu20, etc.) for 28-days cultivation. The stress from Cu inhibited the growth of the castor bean callus, and the Cu content in the castor bean callus increased with the increasing Cu dose, reaching a maximum value of 293.2 mg kg?1 fresh weight (FW) in the 60 mg L?1 Cu treatment. Concentrations of Cu in the cell wall, organelles, and cytoplasm increased significantly with the elevated Cu dose, with the cell wall containing 50.2?% of the total Cu in the 60 mg L?1 Cu treatment. The major Cu fractions were C (bound to the exchangeable polar compounds) (28.1?%) and E (bound to the structural polar compounds and nucleic acids) (27.5?%) in the control treatment, and the main fraction was C (51.2?%) in the treatment with 60 mg L?1 Cu. The concentration of free amino acids in the cytoplasm was closely related to the Cu content in the castor bean callus. In addition, most of the Cu in the cell wall bound with functional groups of the cell chemical components, hydroxyl (–OH), acylamino (–CONH2), and carboxylate ion (–COO?). The castor bean exhibited a strong tolerance to Cu, which accumulated mainly in the cell wall.  相似文献

Tocopherols, collectively known as vitamin E, are lipophilic antioxidants, which are synthesized only by photosynthetic organisms. Due to their enormous potential to protect cells from oxidative damage, tocopherols are used, e.g., as nutraceuticals and additives in pharmaceuticals. The most biologically active form of vitamin E is α-tocopherol. Most tocopherols are currently produced via chemical synthesis. Nevertheless, this always results in a racemic mixture of different and less effective stereoisomers because the natural isomer has the highest biological activity. Therefore, tocopherols synthesized in natural sources are preferred for medical purposes. The annual sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is a well-known source for α-tocopherol. Within the presented work, sunflower callus and suspension cultures were established growing under photomixotrophic conditions to enhance α-tocopherol yield. The most efficient callus induction was achieved with sunflower stems cultivated on solid Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 30 g l?1 sucrose, 0.5 mg l?1 of the auxin 1-naphthalene acetic acid, and 0.5 mg l?1 of the cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine. Photomixotrophic sunflower suspension cultures were induced by transferring previously established callus into liquid medium. The effects of light intensity, sugar concentration, and culture age on growth rate and α-tocopherol synthesis rate were characterized. A considerable increase (max. 230 %) of α-tocopherol production in the cells was obtained within the photomixotrophic cell culture compared to a heterotrophic cell culture. These results will be useful for improving α-tocopherol yields of plant in vitro cultures.  相似文献

Maize, sunflower, flax, and spinach differed in the accumulation of Cd when grown on a Cd contaminated soil. This was mainly due to the different Cd net influx, In , that varied among species by a factor of up to 30. The objective of this study was to find possible reasons for the different Cd In by using a mechanistic model. After 14 days of Cd uptake the model calculated only a small Cd depletion at the root surface, e.g. from 0.22 μmol L?1down to 0.19 μmol L?1for maize and from 0.48 μmol L?1down to 0.35 μmol L?1for spinach. Even so the model always overestimated the Cd In , for spinach by a factor of 1.5 and for maize by a factor of 10. Only simulating a decrease of CLi or the root absorbing power, α, by 40% to 90% gave an agreement of calculated and measured In . This may be interpreted as that about 40% in the case of spinach and 90% in the case of maize of the Cd in soil solution were not accessible for plant uptake. The high sensitivity to α also shows that not the Cd transport to the root but α was limiting the step for Cd uptake.  相似文献

The study aimed to test the effects of sodium nitroprusside [SNP, a nitric oxide (NO) donor], supplied with different approaches on cadmium (Cd) toxicity in lettuce seedlings (Lactuca sativa) in a pot experiment. SNP (8.94 mg) was applied into Cd-contaminated soil directly or added into a capsule, a paper bag, starch-coated granules, or foliar application. Cd (50 mg kg? 1) reduced chlorophyll content, caused oxidative stress, increased Cd accumulation in roots and leaves, and inhibited the uptake of calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and iron (Fe). The addition of exogenous NO in Cd-contaminated soil increased chlorophyll content, improved antioxidant enzyme activities, promoted the uptake of Ca, Mg, and Fe, reduced Cd-induced oxidative damages, and inhibited Cd transferred from roots to shoots. Moreover, SNP supplied with different approaches had varied effects on Cd tolerance of lettuce seedlings. The alleviated effect of SNP applied into soil directly was the worst, and the three SNP slow release materials had better alleviation effects on Cd toxicity. Foliar SNP application had the best effects on increasing Cd tolerance in lettuce seedlings.  相似文献

Microalgal starch is a potential feedstock for biofuel production. Nutrient stress is widely used to stimulate starch accumulation in microalgae. Cell growth and starch accumulation in the marine green microalga Tetraselmis subcordiformis were evaluated under extracellular phosphorus deprivation with initial cell densities (ICD) of 1.5, 3.0, 6.0, and 9.0?×?106 cells mL?1. The intracellular stored phosphorus supported cell growth when extracellular phosphorus was absent. The maximum starch content of 44.1 % was achieved in the lowest ICD culture, while the maximum biomass productivity of 0.71 g L?1 day?1, starch concentration of 1.6 g L?1, and starch productivity of 0.30 g L?1 day?1 were all obtained in the culture with the ICD of 3.0?×?106 cells mL?1. Appropriate ICD could be used to regulate the intracellular phosphorus concentration and maintain adequate photosynthetic activity to achieve the highest starch productivity, along with biomass and starch concentration. The recovery of phosphorus-deprived T. subcordiformis in medium containing 0.5, 1.0, or 6.0 mM KH2PO4 was also tested. Cell growth and starch accumulation ability could be recovered completely. A phosphorus pool in T. subcordiformis was shown to manipulate its metabolic activity under different environmental phosphorus availability. Though lower starch productivity and starch content were achieved under phosphorus deprivation compared with nitrogen- or sulfur-deprived conditions, the higher biomass and starch concentration make T. subcordiformis a good candidate for biomass and starch production under extracellular phosphorus deprivation.  相似文献
