东祁连山高寒草地柳灌丛群落种间关联性   总被引:6,自引:2,他引:4

采用联结系数和共同出现百分率,对东祁连山高寒地区柳灌丛群落种间关联性进行了研究。结果表明,柳灌丛群落内灌木植物种群间的关系表现为以下3种类型1)正联结。海拔3050m除坡柳与杯腺柳之间无关联外,其它种对均表现为正联结,海拔3050、3100、3200以及3250m处金露梅与高山绣线菊之间、海拔3150~3350m山生柳与金露梅之间、海拔3300、3350以及3450m处山生柳与头花杜鹃之间等,表现出正关联;2)负联结。海拔3100m处金露梅和川滇柳之间、海拔3150m处山生柳与坡柳以及金露梅和坡柳之间、海拔3450m处山生柳与杯腺柳之间、川滇柳和头花杜鹃之间,表现为负关联;3)无联结。海拔3050m坡柳与杯腺柳之间、海拔3100~3250m头花杜鹃与其它种群之间以及海拔3400m处除高山绣线菊与头花杜鹃之间外,各种群之间,无任何关联种对。  相似文献

以川西北沙化地生态修复治理过程中2种先锋灌木植物高山红柳(Salix cupularis)和沙棘(Hippophae rhamnoides)为供体植物,中华羊茅(Festuca sinensis)、燕麦(Avena sativa)、垂穗披碱草(Elymus nutans)和老芒麦(E.sibiricus)等4种高原优质牧草为受体植物,比较2种先锋灌木的根系水浸提液,对受体植物种子发芽率、幼苗生长以及抗氧化保护酶活性的化感效应的差异,为先锋灌木选择适宜伴生的经济牧草植物提供理论依据。结果显示:2种灌木根系水浸提液对受试植物生长均具有显著的化感效应,且基本表现出低促高抑的规律。(1)燕麦、中华羊茅、垂穗披碱草和老芒麦种子发芽率在沙棘和高山红柳根系浸提液为10和20g·L~(-1)时均得到显著提高,当浸提液浓度达80g·L~(-1)后基本表现出抑制作用,但只有沙棘浸提液处理下燕麦和中华羊茅达到显著水平。(2)2种根系水浸提液处理下燕麦和中华羊茅幼苗根系生长被完全抑制,但垂穗披碱草只在浓度为80g·L~(-1)时才出现抑制现象;当沙棘根系浸提液为20g·L~(-1)时对燕麦和垂穗披碱草的叶长和鲜重均有显著的促进作用,而高山红柳仅对中华羊茅具有显著促进效应。(3)沙棘根系浸提液为20g·L~(-1)时,对4种受体幼苗体内过氧化氢酶(CAT)和超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性均有显著或极显著的促进效应;浓度为20和40g·L~(-1)的高山红柳根系浸提液,能极显著提高燕麦和老芒麦的CAT活性以及中华羊茅的SOD活性,但浓度为40g·L~(-1)时对燕麦和垂穗披碱草SOD活性有显著的抑制作用;4种受体植物幼苗MDA含量变化趋势均基本与酶活性吻合,能较好地反映酶活性变化下其受到的氧化胁迫程度。(4)综合化感效应指数(SE)显示,垂穗披碱草对2种灌木根系水浸提液适应性最好,其抑制浓度均为80g·L~(-1);各浓度根系浸提液处理中,高山红柳对燕麦和中华羊茅的促进效应均高于沙棘,但沙棘对垂穗披碱草和老芒麦则表现出更强的促进优势。  相似文献

为揭示入侵杂草与草本花卉之间的竞争关系,以入侵植物小蓬草为供体材料,常用的花卉波斯菊、观赏油菜为受体材料,研究了小蓬草根、叶水浸提液对受体植物种子萌发、幼苗生长、抗氧化酶活性(SOD、POD和CAT)以及丙二醛(MDA)含量的化感效应差异。结果表明,(1)小蓬草浸提液对受体植物的种子萌发均具有显著化感效应,基本表现为“低促高抑”的趋势,且波斯菊、观赏油菜的种子萌发率在根、叶浸提液浓度为25 g/L时最高,在浸提液浓度为100 g/L时最低。(2)小蓬草浸提液对受体植物幼苗上下胚轴生长具有“低促高抑”的浓度效应,且浓度越大抑制作用越显著。(3)在小蓬草根、叶浸提液处理下,观赏油菜的SOD和POD活性大多显著高于对照,波斯菊SOD和POD活性则大多显著低于对照;波斯菊、观赏油菜CAT活性整体呈先缓慢升高后降低的趋势。(4)波斯菊幼苗MDA含量随小蓬草根、叶浸提液浓度的增加均呈现逐渐升高的趋势,并大多高于对照水平,而观赏油菜幼苗MDA含量随着根浸提液浓度增加而逐渐升高,却随着叶浸提液浓度的增加而降低,但大多显著低于对照水平。研究发现,小蓬草浸提液对2种花卉种子萌发和幼苗生长均表现出“低促高抑”化感作用,且综合效应强弱表现为观赏油菜大于波斯菊,根浸提液处理大于叶浸提液。  相似文献

以发芽率、苗长、根长、苗干重、根干重变化为种子萌发和幼苗生长参数,研究苗期紫花苜蓿(Medicago sativa)植株浸提液对不同地区垂穗披碱草(Elymus nutans)种子萌发生长的化感作用。结果表明:地上部浸提液对LS、DX垂穗披碱草种子发芽率具有明显的促进作用,而对GS、KMX、LKZ、LZ地区垂穗披碱草种子发芽率均表现为抑制作用,其中对GS垂穗披碱草种子发芽率的抑制作用最强,在14.5%和5.5%浓度处理时抑制率分别为57.89%、55.26%;苗长方面,浸提液5.5%浓度对垂穗披碱草苗长的抑制率顺序为:LZNQDXLSKMXQHGSLKZ,14.5%处理时抑制率顺序为:LZKMXLKZNQGSQHDXLS,其中抑制率最高的为LZ垂穗披碱草,在14.5%和5.5%浓度处理时抑制率分别为33.03%、28.97%;根长方面,5.5%处理对垂穗披碱草根长的抑制率顺序为:QHNQLZKMX、GSLKZDX、LS,14.5%处理时抑制率顺序为:GSQH、NQLZLSKMXDXLKZ,其中在高浓度下抑制率最高的为GS垂穗披碱草,抑制率为57.69%;地上部浸提液对LKZ、LZ垂穗披碱草苗干重均具有促进作用,高浓度浸提液对NQ垂穗披碱草苗干重产生促进作用(RI0),而对KMX、DX垂穗披碱草苗干重均表现为抑制作用;根干重方面,浸提液对LS、QH、GS、NQ、LKZ垂穗披碱草根干重均有明显的抑制作用,而对KMX、DX垂穗披碱草根干重产生促进作用,高浓度浸提液对LZ垂穗披碱草的根干重产生促进作用。从根浸提液的作用来看,根浸提液除对LS、DX垂穗披碱草种子发芽率和根干重、GS垂穗披碱草种子发芽率和苗干重及NQ垂穗披碱草根干重具有促进作用外(P 0.05),对其余地区垂穗披碱草的各项指标均有明显的抑制作用(RI0)。所有以上结果表明,紫花苜蓿植株浸提液对垂穗披碱草种子萌发生长的作用具有一定的浓度效应。不同地区垂穗披碱草对紫花苜蓿地上部浸提液的敏感性趋势总体为:GSQHLSKMXNQLKZLZ,最不敏感或有促进作用的是DX垂穗披碱草;对根浸提液的敏感性趋势总体为:QHNQLZKMX,根浸提液对LS、GS、LKZ、DX垂穗披碱草种子萌发生长具有促进作用。紫花苜蓿植株不同部位浸提液对垂穗披碱草种子萌发生长的化感效应顺序为:地上部根。  相似文献

采用不同浓度凋落枝、凋落叶浸提液处理闽楠(Phoebe bournei (Hemsl.) Yang)种子和幼苗,测定其萌发、生长及生理指标。结果显示:(1)整体上,闽楠凋落枝和凋落叶浸提液对自身种子萌发表现为抑制作用,且抑制作用均随两种浸提液浓度升高而增强,且凋落枝抑制作用大于凋落叶。在发芽指标上,抑制强度表现为枝>叶;在根芽长度上,抑制强度表现为叶>枝;综合化感效应表现为枝>叶。(2)凋落枝浸提液对一年生闽楠幼苗生长指标表现为抑制作用,凋落叶浸提液表现为“低促高抑”的效应。高浓度浸提液可严重抑制幼苗生长,并造成大量叶片出现斑点、萎缩和枯黄;(3)闽楠凋落物浸提液对闽楠幼苗生理的影响较为复杂,高浓度浸提液可造成幼苗生理紊乱,导致其抗氧化系统异常,引起丙二醛含量显著增加,叶片细胞膜通透性增大,导致植株处于非正常生长状态,而长期浇灌低浓度浸提液也会使植物处于胁迫状态而引起相关生理指标变化。  相似文献

以珍珠岩作为基质,选择4年生巨桉(Eucalyptus grandis)嫩叶(T1)、老叶(T2)、表层凋落叶(T3)、腐解凋落叶(T4)4种状态的叶片,每种状态叶片设置3个浸提液浓度水平[分别称取风干叶片30g、15g和7.5g加入900mL蒸馏水进行浸提,以蒸馏水为对照(CK)],采用水培法研究了不同状态叶片浸提液对萝卜(Raphanus sativus)幼苗形态生长和抗性生理特性的影响。结果显示:(1)巨桉不同状态叶片浸提液显著抑制了萝卜幼苗的根长,其中嫩叶的抑制作用最强,腐解凋落叶抑制作用最弱。(2)各状态叶片浸提液处理后萝卜幼苗中过氧化氢酶(CAT)和过氧化物酶(POD)的活性均呈现升高趋势,嫩叶各浓度处理以及其他状态叶片的高浓度处理下超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性升高,而其余浓度处理的SOD活性降低。(3)各状态叶片浸提液处理萝卜幼苗的丙二醛(MDA)含量在低浓度处理时低于CK,其余处理下则高于CK。(4)嫩叶各浓度处理萝卜幼苗的可溶性糖(SS)含量显著高于CK,且随着老叶和表层凋落叶浸提液浓度的升高,幼苗SS含量先升后降,腐解凋落叶各浓度处理下则呈渐增的趋势;而可溶性蛋白(SP)含量则随浸提液浓度的增加而升高,且T2和T3两种状态叶片的各浓度处理与CK差异显著。研究表明,巨桉不同状态叶片浸提液对萝卜幼苗生长和抗性生理产生了强烈的抑制作用,其中以嫩叶最强,老叶和表层凋落叶次之,腐解凋落叶最弱。  相似文献

应用P-V技术对祁连山水源涵养林主要树种水分参数进行测定分析.结果表明,不同水分参数在树种上的变化规律各异,反映了植物耐旱机理的复杂性;对10项水分参数的主成分分析结果显示,以|φπ100-φπ0 |、RCV、ROWC0和εmax分析植物的耐旱性能具有可靠性.用两种几何数学方法的分析结果表明,按照耐旱性大小可将供试树种分为耐旱性强树种(青海云杉和千里香杜鹃)、耐旱性较强树种(祁连圆柏、烈香杜鹃、头花杜鹃和青海杜鹃)、耐旱性较弱树种(金露梅、绣线菊和红桦)和耐旱性弱树种(青杨).苗木清晨叶水势与土壤含水率间变化趋势可以用双曲线方程、幂函数式(或指数函数式)取得满意的拟合.通过逐步聚类分析,按照树种主要耐旱机理可分为高水势延迟脱水耐旱树种(红桦和青海杜鹃)、亚高水势延迟脱水型树种(青海云杉、千里香杜鹃和头花杜鹃)、亚低水势忍耐脱水耐旱树种(祁连圆柏)与低水势忍耐脱水型耐旱树种(金露梅、绣线菊和烈香杜鹃).  相似文献

测定了唐古特大黄(Rheum tanguticum Maxim. ex Balf.)药材水提液、蒽醌粗提液和多糖粗提液对小麦(Triticum aestivum Linn.)和垂穗披碱草(Elymus nutans Griseb.)种子萌发及幼苗生长的影响。结果表明:唐古特大黄药材水提液存在明显的化感作用,水提液在高浓度下对小麦种子萌发和芽长及垂穗披碱草种子萌发、根长和芽长均有明显的抑制作用,而在低浓度下对小麦的根长和芽长具有促进作用。蒽醌粗提液仅对垂穗披碱草幼苗生长有抑制作用,其作用随浓度的提高而增强。多糖处理液抑制了小麦、垂穗披碱草根的生长,同时高浓度的处理液延迟了垂穗披碱草种子发芽。  相似文献

以滇重楼种皮和胚乳为材料,用甲醇浸提得到种皮浸提液和胚乳浸提液,配制成浓度梯度为0.02、0.04、0.06、0.08g/mL的处理液,以蒸馏水为对照,研究不同浓度种皮和胚乳浸提液对受体植物白菜(油脂类)、小麦(淀粉类)、绿豆(蛋白类)种子发芽率、幼苗苗高和根长、抗氧化酶活性的影响,探讨滇重楼种子内源抑制物质的特性,以揭示滇重楼种子休眠的生理机制。结果表明:(1)滇重楼种皮和胚乳中均含有抑制种子萌发与幼苗生长的物质,且抑制作用大小表现为胚乳大于种皮。(2)3种受体植物幼苗对滇重楼种皮、胚乳甲醇浸提液的敏感性大小为白菜(油脂类)显著高于绿豆(蛋白类)和小麦(淀粉类)。(3)滇重楼种皮、胚乳甲醇浸提液对种子萌发及幼苗生长各项指标的抑制作用强度依次为:发芽率幼苗根长幼苗苗高鲜重。(4)滇重楼种皮、胚乳中的抑制物质均能够使3种受体植物幼苗产生生理响应,启动抗氧化酶体系,其中:随着滇重楼种皮甲醇浸提液浓度的升高,受体幼苗SOD与POD活性先升后降,CAT活性持续下降;胚乳甲醇浸提液处理后,受体幼苗SOD和POD活性较对照均显著增强,而CAT活性显著下降。研究认为,滇重楼种皮及胚乳甲醇浸提液均能够抑制受体植物种子萌发及幼苗生长,影响幼苗抗氧化酶活性,但滇重楼种皮与胚乳中所含抑制物在活性上存在差异。  相似文献

油菜是我国重要的绿肥作物,除增加土壤肥力外,对后茬作物也有一定的化感作用。本文研究了不同浓度油菜浸提液(0.025、0.05和0.1 g·mL-1)对3种作物(燕麦、玉米和向日葵)种子萌发、幼苗生长及生理生化的影响。结果表明: 油菜浸提液对3种作物种子发芽率的影响不显著,但对燕麦有“低促高抑”的趋势,对向日葵有抑制的趋势。油菜浸提液高浓度处理对燕麦幼苗根和茎长、玉米幼苗茎长以及向日葵幼苗根长起抑制作用,低浓度处理对玉米幼苗根茎长起促进作用。燕麦和向日葵幼苗在浸提液浓度为0.05 g·mL-1时蛋白质含量最大,玉米在0.025 g·mL-1时蛋白质含量最大,显著高于对照。3个浓度下,向日葵脯氨酸含量均显著降低,玉米脯氨酸含量在浓度为0.05 g·mL-1时显著高于对照。玉米过氧化物酶(POD)活性在浸提液浓度为0.05 g·mL-1时最大,向日葵POD活性在浓度为0.025 g·mL-1时最大,与对照有显著差异,其余浓度处理与对照无显著差异。油菜浸提液浓度为0.025 g·mL-1时显著降低了燕麦超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性,3种作物幼苗过氧化氢酶(CAT)活性与对照均无显著差异。加入油菜浸提液后,向日葵幼苗丙二醛(MDA)含量在浓度为0.1 g·mL-1时显著增加,玉米幼苗MDA含量在不同浓度处理下均显著低于对照。综合分析,油菜浸提液对向日葵的化感抑制作用最强,其次为玉米、燕麦。  相似文献

In addition to effects mediated by resource competition, some invasive plants may impact surrounding vegetation by secreting compounds that are directly inhibitory to growth. Lonicera maackii, an invasive Asian shrub of forests and open areas in eastern and midwestern North America, has devastating effects on understory vegetation, some of which persist even after this shrub is removed. In this study, we explored the potential of aqueous extracts of the leaves and roots of this plant to inhibit seed germination of Impatiens capensis, Alliaria petiolata, Arabidopsis thaliana, and L. maackii in Petri dish bioassays. Both L. maackii root and leaf extracts significantly decreased germination in the three herb species. This inhibitory effect generally increased with increasing extract concentration and was more pronounced with application of leaf extract than root extract. However, when the same extracts were applied to seeds of L. maackii itself, germination was delayed in some cases, but was not significantly reduced by the end of the experiment. Germination of L. maackii seeds even reached significantly higher levels in some extract treatments than in no-extract controls. This implies that L. maackii can successfully inhibit the germination of other plants with few autotoxic effects and may even promote the germination of its own seeds.  相似文献

为了解乡土植物白刺花对紫茎泽兰化感作用的耐受程度及抵御机理,以2—3年生紫茎泽兰叶片为供体材料,用不同浓度的紫茎泽兰叶片浸提液处理白刺花种子及幼苗。结果表明:紫茎泽兰叶片浸提液对白刺花的影响为低浓度促进,高浓度抑制。当浓度为0.5%时促进效应最强,当浓度大于2.0%时抑制效应明显增加。白刺花种子萌发速率比萌发率对紫茎泽兰化感作用反应敏感,胚轴比胚根敏感,随着幼苗的生长,其抵御紫茎泽兰化感作用的能力逐渐增强,丙二醛的含量与植株生长响应规律相对应,并且经紫茎泽兰浸提液处理能极大的增加白刺花幼苗菌根率,缩短菌根形成的时间。  相似文献

Although release and accumulation of plant metabolites from plant into soil can influence allelopathy, little information is known about metabolite changes that occur in leaf, litter and soil. In this study, seed germination bioassay tests and metabolomics analysis were performed to investigate the phytotoxic effects and metabolic variations (measured as buckets) in the ethanolic extracts of leaf, leaf litter and soil of Wedelia trilobata. Increasing the ethanolic extracts concentration of all extracts significantly inhibited Lactuca sativa germination rate (GR), shoot height (SH) and root length (RL). Soil exerted the strongest inhibition but contained the lowest number of buckets relative to those of leaf and leaf litter extracts. An overlap overview on the metabolome revealed a poor bucket overlap and redundancy among the leaf, leaf litter and soil extracts. Canonical correspondence analysis concluded that the SH of L. sativa was more sensitive to leaf litter extract and the leaf extract exerted a strong influence on the GR and RL of L. sativa. Multivariate analysis suggested that the metabolome of the leaf, leaf litter and soil differ substantially. Finally, putative identification using MS/MS data demonstrated various plant metabolites with phytotoxic effects that can contribute to the allelopathy of W. trilobata.  相似文献

The cotyledons of whole intact acorns were shown to contain yeasts; their number increased sharply before acorn germination. The yeasts in the cotyledons are mainly represented by one species, Candida railenensis, with the number in the germinating cotyledons reaching 107 CFU/g. After germination or exocarp destruction, the cotyledons were colonized by the usual epiphytic and litter yeasts Cryptococcus albidus, Rhodotorula glutinis, and Cystofilobasidium capitatum.  相似文献

采用直接收获法和实测数据,以贵州省贵阳市区天然灌木林内木本和草本植物、凋落物及土壤为研究对象,研究了灌木林生态系统的生物量、碳含量及碳储量。结果表明:灌木林植被层生物量为23.16 t/hm2,其中木本植物层生物量为12.46 t/hm2;草本植物层为3.74 t/hm2;凋落物层为6.96 t/hm2,分别占植被层生物量的53.08%、16.15%、30.05%。木本植物25种的碳含量范围为445.91—603.46 g/kg;草本植物6种的碳含量为408.48—523.04 g/kg;凋落物层碳含量为341.01—392.81 g/kg;土壤层碳含量为5.73—26.68 g/kg。生态系统总碳储量为88.34 t/hm2,其中植被层为8.10 t/hm2;凋落物层为2.56 t/hm2;土壤层为77.68 t/hm2,分别占系统总碳储量的9.17%、2.89%、87.94%。灌木林生态系统碳储量的空间分布格局为:土壤层植被层凋落物层。研究结果,可为喀斯特城市估算森林生态系统碳储量和碳平衡提供科学依据。  相似文献

Leaf litter accumulation can have either positive, negative or neutral effects on seed germination and seedling recruitment. In montane woodlands of the Mediterranean zone of central Chile, large amounts of leaf litter accumulate beneath the crowns of the summer semi-deciduous tree Kageneckia angustifolia and no regeneration of this or other plant species has been observed beneath this tree throughout the year. In a sample plot of 5000 m2 we selected ten K. angustifolia trees and measured (1) leaf litter accumulation beneath and outside canopy; (2) the effects of time elapsed since burial on viability of K. angustifolia seeds with and without a leaf litter cover; (3) field seed germination with presence or absence of leaf litter and (4) the possible chemical effects of K. angustifolia leaf litter leachates on seed germination of its own seeds and of other two co-occurring native shrubs species (Guindilia trinervis and Solanum ligustrinum). Our results show that a considerable accumulation of leaf litter occurred beneath K. angustifolia, and litter negatively affected seed viability and germination of this species in the field. Under laboratory conditions, K. angustifolia leaf litter leachates inhibited seed germination of its own seeds and of the two native shrub species. Chemical effects are likely involved in the negative effects of leaf litter on the recruitment of K. angustifolia in the montane sclerophyllous woodland of central Chile.  相似文献

以发芽率、发芽势、根长、茎长和鲜重变化为种子萌发和幼苗生长参数,研究了作物红薯叶片水浸液对云南省农田5种恶性杂草牛膝菊、藿香蓟、鬼针草、马唐和稗草的化感作用。结果表明,红薯叶片水浸液对5种受体杂草种子发芽率的影响不明显,但对发芽势有显著抑制作用。牛膝菊、藿香蓟、鬼针草和马唐的根长和生物量随红薯叶片水浸液浓度增加而显著降低,其中对马唐的抑制最强,高浓度0.1 g/m L时对根长和生物量抑制率分别为92.04%和73.33%,而低浓度0.0125 g/m L时分别为40.99%和46.67%;其次为鬼针草、藿香蓟、牛膝菊;最差的是稗草,随浓度的变化趋势均不明显。随红薯叶片水浸液浓度增加牛膝菊、鬼针草和马唐的茎长显著地降低,其中对马唐的抑制最强,高浓度0.1 g/m L和低浓度0.0125 g/m L时分别为86.85%和70.64%;其次为鬼针草和牛膝菊;相反藿香蓟和稗草的茎长随浓度增加而显著增加,高浓度0.1 g/m L和低浓度0.0125 g/m L时对藿香蓟的促进率分别为86.97%和16.03%。红薯叶片水浸液低浓度0.0125 g/m L时对牛膝菊的茎长和生物量有促进作用(低促高抑)。从化感作用响应指数和综合效应指数的综合对比来看,红薯对牛膝菊、藿香蓟、鬼针草、马唐具有显著的化感抑制作用,随浓度增加其抑制能力显著增加;其中对马唐的为最强,其次为鬼针草、牛膝菊和藿香蓟,相反对稗草具有促进作用(除了浓度0.1 g/m L)。所有这些表明,红薯叶片水浸液对5种杂草化感作用的敏感性趋势总体为:马唐鬼针草牛膝菊藿香蓟,最不敏感或者具有促进作用的是稗草。  相似文献

The present study investigated the allelopathic effects of aqueous extracts of Castanea henryi litter on the growth and physiological responses of Brassica pekinensis and Zea mays. Treatment with high concentrations of leaf extract (0.05 g/ml for B. pekinensis and 0.10 g/ml for Z. mays) significantly increased malonaldehyde content and reduced seed germination, seedling growth, chlorophyll content, and the activity levels of antioxidant enzymes. These effects generally increased with increasing extract concentration. However, in Z. mays, low extract concentrations actually promoted seed germination, shoot growth, chlorophyll content, and antioxidant enzyme activity. The allelopathic effects of the various C. henryi extracts decreased as follows: leaf extract > twig extract > shell extract. Eleven potential allelochemicals including rutin, quercetin, luteolin, procyanidin A2, kaempferol, allantoin, propionic acid, salicylic acid, jasmonic acid, methylmalonic acid, and gentisic acid were identified in the leaves of C. henryi which were linked to the strongest allelopathic effects. These findings suggest that the allelopathic effects of C. henryi differ depending on receptor plant species, and that leaves are the most allelopathic litter in C. henryi.  相似文献

Summary In Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata Donn ex Sm.) forest of south-western Australia dense germination and regeneration of the native legumeAcacia Pulchella R. Br. can occur following moderate to high intensity fire. The effect of this legume understorey on rate of decomposition and change in nutrient content ofE. marginata litter was investigated using the mesh bag techniques and by examining four components of forest floor litter representing increasing stages of decomposition. E. marginata leaf litter confined in mesh bags lost 37% of its initial dry weight in the first 8 months on the forest floor and 44% of its initial dry weight after 20 months. During this period weight loss was similar for leaf litter located in forest without legume understorey and for leaf litter placed under dense stands ofA. pulchella. MixingA. pulchella litter withE. marginata litter had no significant effect on rate ofE. marginata litter breakdown. The presence of understorey vegetation had a marked effect on chemical composition of decomposingE. marginata leaves. After 8 and 20 months exposure on the forest floor, leaf litter in mesh bags placed underA. pulchella understorey had significantly (P<0.001) higher concentration and contained significantly (P<0.001) greater amounts of N, P, K, S, Ca and Mg than leaf litter placed in areas without legume understorey. This effect was particularly marked for N and P. In forest without legume understorey the amounts of these two nutrients inE. marginata leaf litter changed little during the first 20 months of decomposition, but forE. marginata leaf litter in mesh bags underA. pulchella there were absolute gains of up to 68% in the amount of N and 109% in the amount of P during this period. This represents accumulation of N and P from sources outside the litter bags. The concentration of N, P, S, Ca and Mg were higher at each of the four stages of decomposition in eucalypt leaf litter collected from the forest floor beneathA. pulchella compared to eucalypt leaf litter collected in forest without understorey. Concentrations of N, P and S increased with stage of decomposition. Levels of these three nutrients in eucalypt litter from under the legume were 1.5 to 2.9 fold higher than in the same component of litter from forest without understorey. The effect of legume understorey on nutrient concentrations in the forest floor and on Cielement ratios in decomposing litter is discussed in relation to long term rates of litter breakdown and net mineralisation of litter nutrients.  相似文献
