Chromosome numbers are reported forEleocharis obtusa var.ellipsoidalis (2n = 10),E. obtusa var.peasei (2n =10),E. engelmannii (2n =10),E. olivacea f.olivacea (2n = 20),E. olivacea f.reductiseta (2n = 20),E. flavescens (2n = 30),E. tenuis var.verrucosa (2n = 20),E. tenuis var.tenuis (2n = 24),E. tenuis var.pseudoptera (2n = 39), a possible hybrid betweenE. tenuis var.pseudoptera and var.tenuis (2n = ca. 34 & 68),E. intermedia (2n = 22),E. tuberculosa (2n = 30),E. smallii (2n = 36), andE. ambigens (2n = 46). Noticeable chromosome size differences inE. tenuis, E. smallii, andE. ambigens are consistent with size differences previously reported by other authors. Variable meiotic pairing configurations were observed inE. flavescens, E. intermedia, andE. tenuis. Chromosome data help verify taxonomic relationships of some taxa and indicate the need for further investigation of others.  相似文献

A summation of both previously reported and original data on chromosome numbers is presented for species ofHeterotheca sens. lat. Chromosome numbers are listed for 24 taxa, including 20 different species. Chromosome numbers for the genus aren = 4, 5, 9, 12, and 18. The most common and possibly basic number for the genus isn = 9, with then = 18 taxa considered to be tetraploids, and those withn = 4 and 5 as probable aneuploid derivatives ; alternativelyn = 4 and 5 could be considered the basic numbers withn = 9 the result of polyploidy. Several nomenclatural changes have been made including the following new combinations:Heterotheca bolanderi (Gray) Harms,H. fastigiata (Greene) Harms, andH. villosa var.hispida (Hook.) Chromosome numbers forEleocharis palustris subsp.palustris (based on 70 samples from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden) andEleocharis palustris subsp.vulgaris (based on 74 samples from Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Sweden) are given. Also the chromosome number estimates based on relative DNA contents of plants from 8 localitiesE. palustris subsp.palustris from Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Israel, and Slovenia, and from 18 localities ofE. palustris subsp.vulgaris from the Czech Republic, Germany and Sweden are included. InE. palustris subsp.palustris, 2n=16 prevailed, the mixoploid 2n=15, 16 was rare and a lone hypoploid 2n=15 was detected. InE. palustris subsp.vulgaris 2n=38 was most frequently detected, the hyperploid 2n=39 and mixoploid 2n=38, 39 were common, and the hypoploid 2n=36 and mixoploids in which 2n ranges from 36 to 42 were rarer. Distribution maps based on plants investigated either by chromosome counting or by flow cytometry, augmented by similar data from published sources are given for both subspecies in Europe.  相似文献

The correct name in Diospyros L. (Ebenaceae) for a species from Tonga first described as Maba elliptica J. R. Forst. & G. Forst. and incorrectly known as D. elliptica (J. R. Forst. & G. Forst.) P. S. Green is D. foliosa (A. Gray) Bakh. In addition to the nominate variety, six additional varieties are recognised from Fiji and Samoa. As these varieties lack names under D. foliosa, the following new combinations are proposed: D. foliosa var. elliptica (J. R. Forst. & G. Forst.) Dorr, D. foliosa var. fijiensis (Bakh.) Dorr, D. foliosa var. fructuosa (A. C. Sm.) Dorr, D. foliosa var. iridea (Fosberg) Dorr, D. foliosa var. opaca (A. C. Sm.) Dorr, and D. foliosa var. savaiiensis (Christoph.) Dorr.  相似文献

Pollen size statistics are presented for 10 closely related species of Bouteloua and relationships between pollen size and chromosome numbers are presented for 13 populations of 5 species and 3 varieties. With 1 exception, all populations of all taxa conformed to a general pattern of pollen size dependent upon chromosome number. Chromosome numbers varied from 2n = 20 to 2n = ca. 103, with several independent aneuploid series. Statistical analyses were made of pollen size as related to chromosome number in the 3 varieties of B. curtipendula. These data showed that tetraploids (2n = 40) of var. tenuis had significantly greater pollen size and coefficient of variation than diploids (2n = 20) of the same variety. Similarly, aneuploids of var. curtipendula with 2n = 45 to 2n = 64 chromosomes had significantly larger and more variable pollen than tetraploids (2n = 40) of the same variety. Highly significant positive regression coefficients were obtained from analyses of chromosome numbers and mean pollen size, and chromosome numbers and coefficient of variation, for var. curtipendula. Regression coefficients for var. caespitosa populations with chromosome numbers over the hexaploid (2n = 60) level were not significant.  相似文献

Type material of two poorly known species of Macromitrium, described from East Africa and Madagascar, was examined and both were found to belong to the genus Macrocoma. Macromitrium megalosporum Thér. & Naveau was found to be morphologically very close to Macrocoma abyssinica (Müll.Hal.) Vitt., with the only significant difference between these taxa being the large multicellular spores of M. megalosporum, which is also the first report of multicellular spores for the genus Macrocoma. This name is here transferred to Macrocoma as Macrocoma abyssinica var. megalospora (Thér. & Naveau) Wilbraham comb. nov. Macrocoma abyssinica var. megalospora is reported new for the Comoros, which is the first record for the species in the East African Islands. Macromitrium adelphinum Cardot in Grandidier was found to be conspecific with Macrocoma tenuis (Hook. & Grev.) Vitt. subsp. tenuis and an appropriate synonymy is proposed. Macrocoma tenuis. subsp. tenuis is also reported here new to the Comoros.  相似文献

Recent studies of extra-Amazonian species of Copaifera revealed several nomenclatural problems. We choose lectotypes for C. cearensis Huber ex Ducke and C. cearensis var. arenicola Ducke from amongst the available syntypes, and propose the lectotypification of C. langsdorffii Desf. with its original plate. Comments are made about the correct spelling of the specific epithet of C. langsdorffii and the typifications of C. elliptica Mart. and C. luetzelburgii Harms are clarified.  相似文献

Somatic chromosome numbers have been determined for the followingCerastium taxa:C. eriophorum (2n = 36),C. alpinum (2n = 72),C. transsylvanicum (2n = 108),C. arcticum (2n = 108),C. latifolium (2n = 36),C. carinthiacum (2n = 36),C. banaticum (2n = 36),C. arvense subsp.glandulosum (2n = 36),C. arvense subsp.arvense (2n = 72) andC. fontanum (2n = 144). Karyotypes of three diploid species (C. eriophorum, C. banaticum andC. latifolium), belonging to three different taxonomic groups, were analysed and found to be similar. The relative nuclear DNA contents of all taxa were determined by flow cytometry and, for five species, also by Feulgen cytophotometry. The values obtained by the two methods are similar. A comparison of nuclear DNA contents among diploids shows that values differ significantly between different taxonomic groups, and are correlated with average chromosome size. Within closely related polyploid groups nuclear DNA amounts increase from 2x- to 4x- and 6x taxa as 1 : 1.4 : 2.4 in theC. alpinum complex, whereas DNA amounts are doubled comparing 2x- and 4x-subspecies in theC. arvense complex.  相似文献

Sphenostylis, a genus of seven species in tropical and southern Africa, includes three taxa that are used by humans. Flowers and seeds of S. schweinfurthii Harms are occasionally eaten in West Africa, and this species has potential value as a forage crop. Flowers and seeds of Sphenostylis erecta (E. G. Baker) E. G. Baker subsp. erecta are eaten in parts of Central Africa, while the roots are used medicinally and as a source of dye and fish poison. The edible tubers of S. stenocarpa (Hochst, ex A. Rich.) Harms, the African yam bean, are collected from the wild in Central and East Africa. This species is cultivated for its edible seeds in west tropical Africa and for its edible tubers in Zaire. Cultivated races of S. stenocarpa may be considered domesticated forms, since they differ from wild plants of the species in a number of morphological characteristics that are evidently the result of human selection. A list of common names for the three taxa, from throughout their ranges, is presented. This study consisted of sampling benthic algae at 32 sites in the Gangqu River, an important upstream tributary of the Yangtze River. Our aims were to characterize the benthic algae communities and relationships with environmental variables. Among the 162 taxa observed, Achnanthes linearis and Achnanthes lanceolata var. elliptica were the dominant species (17.10% and 14.30% of the total relative abundance, respectively). Major gradients and principal patterns of variation within the environmental variables were detected by principal component analysis (PCA). Then non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMS) divided all the sites into three groups, which were validated by multi-response permutation procedures (MRPP). Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) indicated that three environmental variables (TN, TDS, and TP) significantly affected the distribution of benthic algae. Weighted averaging regression and cross-calibration produced strong models for predicting TN and TDS concentration, which enabled selection of algae taxa as potentially sensitive indicators of certain TN and TDS levels: for TN, Achnanthes lanceolata, Achnanthes lanceolata var. elliptica, and Cymbella ventricosa var. semicircularis; for TDS, Cocconeis placentula, Cymbella alpina var. minuta, and Fragilaria virescens. The present study represents an early step in establishing baseline conditions. Further monitoring is suggested to gain a better understanding of this region.  相似文献

L'A. stabilisce che in Euphorbia Paralias L., in E. falcata L. var. acuminata (Lam.) Fior, E. pubescens Vahl ed E. Pithyusa L. var. ovalifolia Fiori lo sviluppo del gametofito femminile è di tipo Normale S-nucleato; in Euphorbia Characias L. il gametofito femminile può svilupparsi secondo il tipo Normale e il tipo Scilla con una frequenza di sviluppo del primo rispetto al secendo del valore approssimativo percentuale del 7%; in Euphorbia amygdaloides L. il gametofito si sviluppa sempre secondo lo schema del tipo Scilla. Stabilisce inoltre che il numero aploide dei cromosomi è n=S in Euphorbia Paralias L., n = 18 in E. falcala var. acuminata (Lam.) Fiori, n = 7 in E. pubescens Vahl, n = 18 in E. Pithyusa L. var. ovalifolia Fiori, n = 10 in E. Characias L. ed n = 9 in E. amygdaloides L. Fenomeni di associazione secondaria dei cromosomi del corredo aploide potrebbero indicare che il numero aploide n = 7 di Euphorbia pubcscens Vahl sia derivato dal numero aploide 6. Chromosome counts were determined for 46 populations ofBiscutella representing 28 taxa. The genus was found to contain diploid taxa with 2n = 12, 16 and 18, tetraploid taxa with 2n = 36 and hexaploid taxa having 2n = 54.B. laevigata L. s. l. consists of diploid and tetraploid populations which are poorly differentiated morphologically. TetraploidB. laevigata s. l. and hexaploidB. variegata Boiss. & Reuter (s. l.) are characterized by chromosomal instability. The variation in chromosome numbers and the occurrence of polyploidy is discussed in relation to the taxonomy of the genus. An investigation of the breeding system showed that most of the annual species were self-compatible and partly inbreeding and most of the perennial species self-incompatible and, therefore, outbreeding, while one annual species,B. cichoriifolia Loisel., showed both systems.  相似文献

The very common green seaweeds Enteromorpha intestinalis (L.) Nees and E. compressa (L.) Nees are important fouling organisms and have commonly been used as indicators of eutrophication, but their taxonomic status is problematic. The genus presents extreme difficulties because there is wide intraspecific variation in morphology, but morphological differences between species are small and difficult to detect. In this study, molecular data were used in parallel with morphological characters to resolve the taxonomic problems. Phylogenetic analysis of sequences of the internal transcribed spacers ITS1 and ITS2 and the 5.8S gene distinguished two groups of samples, which were identified by morphological characters as E. compressa (branched) and E. intestinalis (normally unbranched). There was a low level of sequence divergence within each group of samples, but divergence between groups was as great as that between either of the two species and the outgroup E. prolifera. Clades representing E. compressa and E. intestinalis were also found in analyses of an independent molecular data set, chloroplast DNA restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs). Enteromorpha intestinalis and E. compressa represent two distinct, genetically divergent species. Reinterpretation of published studies shows that these species are reproductively isolated. However, E. compressa and E. intestinalis are sometimes very difficult to distinguish from each other and could be regarded as cryptic species. The presence or absence of branching was the most useful character distinguishing these two species, but there was an element of ambiguity because low salinity or salinity shock can induce branching in E. intestinalis. If environmental factors such as salinity are taken into account, branching can be used to identify the great majority of thalli correctly. This study therefore provides a basis for identifying the two most important marine fouling macroalgae and for their use in environmental monitoring and experimentation. Typification of these two Linnaean species showed that current usage of the names accords with the lectotype and protologue of both species. Samples that resembled E. usneoides did not form a clade in any of the trees, and constraining the data to support the monophyly of this group incurred a penalty. Enteromorpha usneoides appears to be an ecotype of E. compressa.  相似文献

A karyological study of 15 taxa ofScorzonera L. from the Iberian Peninsula has been made. The chromosome numbers found inS. hispanica var.pinnatifida, S. baetica, S. reverchonii, S. angustifolia, S. laciniata var.calcitrapifolia and var.subulata (2n = 14) are new. Diploid cytotypes with 2n = 14 and 2n = 12 prevail, andS. hispanica var.crispatula is the only taxon which exhibits autopolyploidy (2n = 14, 28). x = 7 is considered to be the base chromosome number within the genus, with x = 6 being derived from it by translocation. This and detailed karyotype analyses allow to group the Iberian Peninsula species ofScorzonera into three groups.  相似文献
