The Helichrysum occurrences spread over Hyblaean area (Sicily) are characterized by an unusual richness of morphotype variants which ancestral origin is still unclear. Morphological and genetic variability of seven populations attributable to six taxonomic entities (Helichrysum archimedeum, H. stoechas subsp. conglobatum, H. stoechas subsp. barrelieri, H. hyblaeum, H. pendulum and H. nebrodense) was examined, in order to highlight their relationships within the Helichrysum sect. Stoechadina. Morphological analysis showed a clear isolation of populations referred to H. pendulum, H. nebrodense and H. stoechas subsp. conglobatum. Whereas, genetic structure profiling, with 21 ISSRs, displayed a strong genetic relationship within H. stoechas and H. archimedeum accessions, where the latter exhibited evident genetic similarity with H. hyblaeum. Analysis of rbcL cpDNA fragment allowed to identify a shared haplotype between H. stoechas and H. rupestre species, while, through the construction of haplotype network based on trnL-F/rpl32 region, the sampled accessions were properly differentiated as confirmed by the cpDNA consensus network. These results confirmed the high affinity of H. archimedeum with other H. stoechas populations and the closer relationship of H. hyblaeum to H. stoechas respect to H. rupestre.  相似文献

The chemical profile of the essential oils in ten populations of the genus Helichrysum Mill . (Asteraceae), collected in the loci classici of the nomenclatural types of the taxa endemic to Sicily, were analyzed. Our results confirm that the analysis of secondary metabolites can be used to fingerprint wild populations of Helichrysum, the chemical profiles being coherent with the systematic arrangement of the investigated populations in three main clusters, referring to the aggregates of H. stoechas, H. rupestre, and H. italicum, all belonging to the section Stoechadina. The correct nomenclatural designation of the investigated populations is discussed and the following two new combinations are proposed: Helichrysum preslianum subsp. compactum (Guss .) Maggio, Bruno, Guarino, Senatore & Ilardi and Helichrysum panormitanum subsp. latifolium Maggio, Bruno, Guarino, Senatore & Ilardi .  相似文献

Lavandula pedunculata (Mill.) Cav. subsp. lusitanica, Lavandula stoechas L. subsp. stoechas and Lavandula viridis l'Hér. are three lavender taxa that belong to the botanical section Stoechas and are widely used as aromatherapy, culinary herb or folk medicine in many Mediterranean regions. The analysis of their bioactive volatile constituents revealed the presence of 124 substances, the most abundant being the bicyclic monoterpenes fenchone, camphor and 1,8‐cineole that give these three species their respective chemotypes. Most noteworthy was fenchone which, with its reduced form fenchol, made 48% of the total volatile constituents of L. pedunculata while present at 2.9% in L. stoechas and undetectable in L. viridis. In order to provide a molecular explanation to the differences in volatile compounds of these three species, two monoterpene synthases (monoTPS) and one sesquiterpene synthase (sesquiTPS) were cloned in L. pedunculata and functionally characterized as fenchol synthase (LpFENS), α‐pinene synthase (LpPINS) and germacrene A synthase (LpGEAS). The two other lavender species contained a single orthologous gene for each of these three classes of TPS with similar enzyme product specificities. Expression profiles of FENS and PINS genes matched the accumulation profile of the enzyme products unlike GEAS. This study provides one of the rare documented cases of chemotype modification during plant speciation via changes in the level of plant TPS gene expression, and not functionality.  相似文献

Lavandula genus is an important member of Labiatae (Lamiaceae) family. People use commonly Lavandula stoechas as a medicinal plant for various diseases around the world and also in Turkey. The aim of this study was to investigate cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of aqueous extracts (40, 80 and 120 g/L) from L. stoechas flowers on Allium cepa root tip meristem cells. For this purpose, A. cepa onion bulbs were treated with the above-mentioned L. stoechas flower extracts for 72 h. Spring water (pH 7.3) was used as a control. The result of this study sowed that aqueous extracts reduced mitotic index, but induced chromosome aberrations and mitotic aberrations in comparison with control, significantly (p < 0.05). Aqueous extracts induced breaks, stickiness, pole deviations and micronuclei. Furthermore, these effects were related to extract concentrations. These results showed that L. stoechas aqueous extracts have cytotoxic and genotoxic effects.  相似文献

The species of Gnaphalium, Helichrysum and related genera in southern Africa have been surveyed and a number of groups of allied species detected in which the ratio of female to hermaphrodite flowers ranges from a majority of female to a majority of hermaphrodite and in some groups there are even homogamous species. Thus, the failure of the old sex-ratio character used to separate Gnaphalium and Helichrysum is confirmed. The validity of these groupings has been tested by studying detailed characters such as the structure of the stereome (whether undivided or fenestrated) and the type of achenial hair, as well as the more usual floral characters. Most of these plants have leaves with flat or revolute margins and the occasional occurrence of involute margins is taxonomically important. Gnaphalium L. (type G. uliginosum L.) has been redefined to include Amphidoxa DC. and Demidium DC. (female flowers epappose) and species with more hermaphrodite flowers then female. The stereome is undivided. Helichrysum remains a massive and highly diverse genus and includes Leontonyx Cass. The stereome is normally fenestrated and the receptacle epaleate. One or two species have paleae, but Rhynea with receptacle paleate and stereome undivided is maintained. A small group of species with undivided stereomes, centred on H. marifolium D.C., has had to be retained in Helichrysum because of the existence of linking species. Undivided stereome and subglobose achenial hairs enjoin the transfer of H. vestitum (L.) Willd. and two allies, as well as the group of species centred on H. paniculatum (Thunb.) Thunb., to Helipterum, despite the lack of plumose pappus. Edmondia Cass. (H. sesamoides (L.) Willd.) with distinctive habit, involute leaves and no close relatives in Helichrysum is reinstated. Pseudognaphalium Kirp., to which only P. oxyphyllum (DC.) Kirp. had previously been assigned, is extended to include, in its typical subgenus, Hypelichrysum Kirp. and a number of American species of Gnaphalium, as well as the African G. undulatum L. and G. oligandrum (DC.) Hilliard & Burtt, and the Asiatic G. hypoleucum DC. and G. chrysocephalum Franch. A new subgenus, Laphangium, is created to accommodate G. luteo-album L. and its allies. Achyrocline (Less.) DC. has been maintained, as is done in South America, and some African species placed under Helichrysum by Moesert 1910) are returned to it. Two new genera are recognized among gnaphalioid plants with undivided stereomes: Troglophyton (based on G. capillaceum Thunb.) with about seven species and Plecostachys (based on G. serpyllifolium Berg, and including G. polifolium Thunb.). Both genera straddle the old numerical boundary between Gnaphalium and Helichrysum. The monotypic Helichrysopsis Kirp. is maintained. Plants of gnaphalioid aspect with fenestrated stereomes necessitate a further new genus: Vellereophyton (type G. dealbatum Thunb., better known as G. candidissimum Lam.) with seven species. Eriosphaera Less, and Lasiopogon Cass, are redefined and enlarged to include species previously placed in Gnaphalium. Metalasia and Lachnospermum are redefined, with the transfer of the only large-headed species remaining in Metalasia to Lachnospermum. Two new genera are created for plants in this affinity previously misplaced in Helichrysum. Atrichantha is based on H. gemmiferum Bol. and one new species is described. Dolichothrix is established for the anomalous H. ericoides (Lam.) Pers. Ifloga is briefly investigated and it is shown that the distinction between sect. Ifloga and sect. Eutrichogyne Bentham must be based on characters of the capitulum, not just on annual versus subshrubby habit. Lasiopogon molluginoides DC. (=Comptonanthus Nordenstam) is transferred to Ifloga and the structure of the capitulum in the genus is discussed. Some earlier work on this group of plants is briefly summarized, the phytogeographical interest of the proposed arrangement is discussed and some general conclusions offered.  相似文献

The genus Lavandula L. consists of 39 species distributed from the North Atlantic Islands, across the Mediterranean Basin to India. We analysed 36 taxa of the genus Lavandula representing two of the three subgenera and six of the eight sections according to the most recent classification (Upson & Andrews 2004). We achieved a phylogenetic reconstruction from partial sequences from plastid trnK and matK genes; the genome size was estimated by flow cytometer measurements. The primary aim was to track phylogenetic patterns through the maternal inherited marker at the sectional level and identify possible genome duplications. The cpDNA tree shows the phylogenetic relationships between subgenus, sections and also elucidates for the first time the relationships between the endemic species of Macaronesia, Morocco and Arabia. The ancestral split between the two subgenera could be explained by dispersal followed by an early vicariance event. The C-value shows genome up-sizing within several phylogenetic clades and geographical areas. An ancestral genome-up sizing is characterized at the node of section Dentatae and Lavandula. The cpDNA tree suggests that the taxa L. angustifolia subsp. pyrenaica (DC.) Guinea and L. stoechas subsp. luiseiri are best treated as a distinct species.  相似文献

Several species ofHypericum are used in traditional Turkish folk medicine. Their most medicinally important secondary metabolites are the hypericins, hyperforins, and phenolics. Here, we determined the ontogenetic, morphogenetic, and diurnal variations in total phenolics contents fromH. aviculariifolium subsp.depilatum var.depilatum (endemic),H. perforation, andH. pruinatum. Plants of wild-growingH. aviculariifolium subsp.depilatum var.depilatum andH. perforatum, and greenhouse-grownH. pruinatum were harvested four times per day during their vegetative, floral-budding, full-flowering, fresh-fruiting, and mature-fruiting stages. They were then dissected into stem, leaf, and reproductive tissues to be dried separately and assayed. The highest level of phenolics inH. aviculariifolium subsp.depilatum var.depilatum andH. pruinatum was found in the leaves, whereas the floral buds produced the greatest amount inH. perforatum. Variations in contents from whole plants fluctuated diurnally, differing among species over the course of ontogenesis, reaching the highest level at floral-budding and tending to increase at mid-day inH. aviculariifolium subsp.depilatum var.depilatum. ForH. perforatum andH. pruinatum, contents also were the highest during floral development, although no diurnal fluctuations were observed in those species.  相似文献

We endeavoured to probe into and compare the possible effect(s) of different extraction techniques (accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), ultrasonication-assisted extraction (UAE), maceration, and Soxhlet extraction (SE)) on the bioactivity (antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities) of the aerial parts of Helichrysum stoechas subsp. barrelieri (Ten.) Nyman. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents of the extracts obtained by different extraction methods followed the order of ASE > MAE > UAE > maceration > SE. Extract obtained by ASE was the most potent radical scavenger (219.92 and 313.12 mg Trolox equivalent [TE]/g, against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS), respectively) and reducing agent (927.39 and 662.87 mg TE/g, for cupric reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), respectively). Helichrysum stoechas extract obtained by UAE (18.67 mg ethylenediaminetetraacetic equivalent [EDTAE]/g) was the most active metal chelator and inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase (4.23 mg galantamine equivalent [GALAE]/g) and butyrylcholinesterase (6.05 mg GALAE/g) cholinesterase. Extract from maceration (183.32 mg kojic acid equivalent [KAE]/g) was most active against tyrosinase while ASE extract (1.66 mmol acarbose equivalent [ACAE]/g) effectively inhibited α-glucosidase. In conclusion, data amassed herein tend to advocate for the use of non-conventional extraction techniques, namely ASE and UAE, for the extraction of bioactive secondary metabolites from H. stoechas aerial parts.  相似文献

In this study, the anatomical features of the leaf and stem, besides the nutlet characteristics of some Teucrium sect. Isotriodon (Lamiaceae) taxa in Turkey, T. montbretii Betham subsp. montbretii, T. montbretii subsp. pamphylicum P. H. Davis, T. odontites Boiss. &; Bal., T. cavernarum P. H. Davis, T. antitauricum T. Ekim, along with an isolated population of T. montbretii (T. montbretii subsp.) were investigated. The anatomical studies revealed that the taxa share generally similar anatomical characters, such as thicker upper leaf cuticles and larger upper leaf epidermal cells compared to lower ones and diacytic to anomocytic stomata on the leaves. However, the portion of the mesophyll occupied by palisade parenchyma and the occurrence of mucilage cells in leaf epidermis shows difference among the taxa. Furthermore, the studied taxa have general stem characteristics of the Lamiaceae family, except for having poorly developed collenchyma at the corners. With the amphistomatic leaves and developed sclerenchymatic tissue in the leaf median vein, T. cavernarum is seperated from the other taxa. Trichome types on the vegetative organs and nutlet shape and sculpturing are generally the same or similar in the studied taxa, but trichomes on the nutlets are different among them. Based on nutlet characteristics and some morphological ones, it was revealed that the isolated population of T. montbretii represent a new subspecies, T. monbretii subsp. yildirimlii M.Dinç &; S.Do?u subsp. nov.  相似文献

Teucrium stachyophyllum P. H. Davis was first described as a separate species in the ‘Syrian, Lebanon and Palestine Flora’, but was reduced to a subspecies of T. lamiifolium d’Urv. in the ‘Turkish Flora’. Studies on the macro‐ and micro‐morphology as well as the anatomy of populations of T. lamiifolium subsp. stachyophyllum (P. H. Davis) Hedge & Ekim and T. lamiifolium subsp. lamiifolium in Turkey have been carried out based on herbarium specimens and field observations. The results from the anatomical studies on stems and leaves show that although the two taxa are similar in stem anatomy, they differ in terms of mesophyll thickness and occurrence of crystals in the upper epidermal cells of the leaf. Light and scanning electron microscope analyzes revealed striking differences in colour, size, sculpture and gland density between nutlets of the two taxa. Morphological studies also showed that there were important differences between the two taxa in terms of inflorescence, indumentum, and stem length and thickness. In addition, the essential oils from aerial parts of T. lamiifolium subsp. stachyophyllum and T. lamiifolium subsp. lamiifolium were isolated by steam distillation and analysed by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). The major components were characterized as β‐caryophyllene (23.5–44.8%), trans‐β‐bergamotene (22.4–26.4%), germacrene D (22.2%) and (Z)‐β‐farnesene (14.0%) for subp. lamiifolium and trans‐β‐bergamotene (38.1–41.1%) and β‐caryophyllene (8.7–8.9%) for subsp. stachyophyllum, respectively. As a result of the studies, it is proposed that the taxon treated as T. lamiifolium subsp. stachyophyllum in the Turkish flora should be raised to specific rank as T. stachyophyllum.  相似文献

The chemical composition of the essential oils of nine taxa from seven sections of Hypericum L. (Guttiferae; H. perforatum subsp. perforatum, H. perforatum subsp. veronense, H. calycinum, H. montanum, H. richeri subsp. richeri, H. hyssopifolium, H. hirsutum, H. hircinum subsp. majus, and H. tetrapterum) occurring in central Italy (Appennino Umbro‐Marchigiano) was analyzed by GC/FID and GC/MS. A total of 186 compounds were identified in the different species and subspecies, accounting for 86.9–92.8% of the total oils. The major fraction of the oil was always represented by sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (30.3–77.2%), while quantitative differences occurred between the other classes of volatiles depending on the taxa considered. Chemical composition of the nine Hypericum entities with respect to the taxonomical classification was discussed. Essential oils obtained from six taxa, i.e., H. perforatum subsp. perforatum, H. perforatum subsp. veronense, H. calycinum, H. richeri subsp. richeri, H. hirsutum and H. tetrapterum, were also tested for their antimicrobial properties against five different microbial strains by the broth‐microdilution method, and they were found to have significant activity (expressed as MIC) on B. subtilis, moderate activity on C. albicans and S. aureus, and weak activity on E. coli and E. faecalis, the most active being those from H. hirsutum, H. richeri subsp. richeri, and H. tetrapterum.  相似文献

Polymorphism analyses of the hordeins, main storage proteins in barley, were conducted on 35 natural populations of Hordeum murinum s.l. from North Africa; this specific complex includes three subspecies with two ploidy levels: H. murinum subsp. glaucum (2n=2x=14), H. murinum subsp. leporinum and subsp. murinum (2n=4x=28). Twenty of these populations belong to the diploid subsp. glaucum, 14 other tetraploid populations belong to the subsp. leporinum. In addition, six populations of the tetraploid murinum were sampled in France: two along the Mediterranean coast and four in Brittany. The polymorphism observed in the electrophoretic patterns highlights strong correlations between bioclimatic features and di- and tetraploid taxa distribution. Moreover, the variation was not randomly distributed within the different ploidy levels, and is correlated with environmental factors. The ecological differentiation of the two main taxa, H. murinum subsp. leporinum and subsp. glaucum is clearly highlighted.  相似文献

Two new species of the fungal genus Trichoderma, Trichoderma compactum and Trichoderma yunnanense, isolated from rhizosphere of tobacco in Yunnan Province, China are described based on morphological characters and phylogenetic analyses of nucleotide sequences. Our DNA sequences included the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions of the rDNA cluster (ITS1 and ITS2), and partial sequences of the translation elongation factor 1-alpha (tef1) and a fragment of the gene coding for endochitinase 42 (ech42). The analyses show that T. compactum belongs to the Harzianum clade, and T. yunnanense belongs to the Hamatum clade.  相似文献

Summary  Three closely affiliated species of Heterospathe Scheff. (H. elegans (Becc.) Becc., H. humilis Becc. and H. versteegiana Becc.) from New Guinea are revised. They are reduced to a single species which is divided into two subspecies, and the new combination H. elegans subsp. humilis (Becc.) M. S. Trudgen & W. J. Baker is made. The subspecies can be readily distinguished by their growth habit. Epitypes are designated for the three previously published names, as informative material on the habit is not included in the existing type specimens. The morphology, altitudinal distribution and phytocoenology ofHypericum empetrifolium Willd., var.oliganthum Rech. fil. and var.tortuosum Rech. fil. are reassessed and as a result, the taxa are treated at subspecific rank. The karyotypes of diploidP. fragilis subsp.villosus (2n = 2x = 14) and tetraploid subsp.secaliformis (2n = 4x = 28) were studied by Giemsa C- and N-banding, and AgNO3 staining and compared with the karyotype of subsp.fragilis (2x). The complements of subsp.villosus and subsp.fragilis were similar, with 8 metacentric and 6 SAT-chromosomes, one metacentric and two submetacentric pairs, with small to minute, polymorphic, heterochromatic satellites. The complement of subsp.secaliformis on the whole agreed with a doubling of the complement of diploidP. fragilis, suggesting autopolyploidy. Only the presence of 12 nucleoli in interphases identified 6 SAT-chromosome pairs. In subsp.villosus one or two extra micronucleoli indicated a chromosome pair with very low nucleolusforming activity, bringing the number of SAT-chromosome pairs to 4. This number may be a characteristc ofPsathyrostachys. Besides very small, inconsistently observed bands, the C-banding pattern consisted of 0–3 small bands per chromosome at intercalary and terminal locations, and at NORs. The level of banding pattern polymorphism was low, but enough to indicate that the taxa are outbreeders. Similarities in chromosome morphology and C-banding patterns identified homology of all chromosomes of subsp.villosus, but for 12 pairs only in subsp.secaliformis. Between plants, reliable identification of homology and homoeology (subsp.secaliformis) was possible only for the SAT-chromosomes and the shortest metacentrics. Chromocentres were very small and the amount of constitutive heterochromatin was low. N-banding stained chromosomes uniformly. The basic karyotypes of theP. fragilis taxa were similar to those ofP. juncea, P. lanuginosa, andP. stoloniformis supporting a close relationship and the presence of a common genome, N. NORs had different nucleolus-forming activities. Meiotic analysis demonstrated a high level of bivalent pairing in the three taxa. A chromosomal rearrangement was suggested in subsp.villosus. The low multivalent frequency in subsp.secaliformis indicates the presence of a pairing regulation mechanism. The majority of chiasmata were interstitial. Pollen grain size discriminated between diploid and tetraploid taxa. The existence of a diploid cytotype of subsp.secaliformis is supported by pollen measurements of herbarium material.  相似文献

Hypecoum sect.Hypecoum comprises 8 species, one with 2 additional subspecies, in the Mediterranean area and the Middle East. Five of these are recognized for the first time, viz.Hypecoum procumbens L. subsp.fragrantissimum Å. E. Dahl,H. procumbens L. subsp.atropunctatum Å. E. Dahl,H. trullatum Å. E. Dahl,H. angustilobum Å. E. Dahl andH. torulosum Å. E. Dahl. H. dimidiatum Delile andH. pseudograndiflorum Petr., which have generally been included inH. imberbe Sm., are reestablished as distinct species. Morphology and variation patterns are described and discussed with special reference to mating systems. Self-incompatibility is dominating butH. procumbens subsp.procumbens andH. torulosum are self-compatible. The broad variation ranges of the former taxon in traits presumably related to mating system (petal, anther and stigma sizes as well as pollenovule ratios) indicate varying rates of outcrossing. SEM micrographs are given of petal and stigma surfaces and of pollen grains. Chromosome counts are presented for seven taxa. All are diploid with 2n = 16.  相似文献

Cluster analysis and principal components analysis were used to investigate patterns of morphological variation among specimens of European species of sect.Somera of the genusHyacinthoides (Hyacinthaceae). The results are clearly consistent with the existence of four species (H. italica, H. paivae, H. reverchonii andH. mauritanica). It is proposed that the latter be considered to comprise two subspecies,H. mauritanica subsp.mauritanica andH. mauritanica subsp.vincentina (comb. nov.).
