Activities of potassium and sodium ions in rabbit heart muscle   总被引:3,自引:3,他引:0       下载免费PDF全文
Activities (a) of intracellular K and Na in rabbit ventricular papillary muslces were determined with cation-selectivve glass microelectrodes and concentrations (C) were estimated with flame photometry. The CK and aK of the muscles were 134.9 +/- 3.1 mM (mean value +/- SE) and 82.6 mM, respectively, at 25 degrees C. The corresponding CNa and aNa were 32.7 +/- 2.7 and 5.7, respectively. The apparent intracellular activity coefficients for K (gammaK) and Na (gammaNa) were 0.612 and 0.175, respectively. Similar results were obtained at 35 +/- 1 degree C. gammaK was substantially lower than the activity coefficient (0.745) of extracellular fluid (Tyrode's solution), which might be expected on the basis of a different intracellular ionic strength. gammaNa was much lower than that of extracellular fluid, and suggest that much of the Na was compartmentalized or sequestered. For external K concentrations greater than 5 mM, the resting membrane potentials agreed well with the potential differences calculated from the K activity gradients across the cell membrane as a potassium electrode. These results emphasize that potassium equilibrium potentials in heart muscle should be calculated by activities rather than concentrations.  相似文献

Ion-selective microelectrodes were used to measure sodium ion activity (aNa) in the tegument and interstitial spaces in adult male Schistosoma mansoni. In RPMI 1640, aNa averaged 31 +/- 13 mM in the tegument, a value significantly less than that in the bathing medium. In the interstitial spaces, it averaged 72 +/- 17 mM, a value nearly the same as that in the bathing medium. In hypo- or hyperosmotic media, aNa in the interstitial spaces varied by a value commensurate with change in aNa in the medium, but aNa in the tegument was changed by only a small amount. Monensin (10 microM), low temperature (20 C), and ouabain (0.3 to 10 microM) all caused significant increases in aNa in the tegument. Hypo- and hyperosmotic media produced initial weight changes followed by gradual recovery back toward original weights. It is concluded that the schistosome is a volume regulating osmoconformer with osmolality of the extracellular fluid approximating that of the bathing medium, but that within the tegument of the parasite, Na+ concentration is controlled by active transport processes.  相似文献

In seven healthy male subjects, a natriuretic effect of 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone caproate (17 alpha-OHPC) was demonstrated. Three of these subjects were kept on an uncontrolled diet and were examined over a period of 12 days. To the remaining four subjects, a single dose of 250 mg 17 alpha-OHPC was given intramuscularly after four days of intake of a chemically defined diet (Vivasorb). In this second test procedure, blood samples were taken in the recumbent position every two hours throughout a period of 12 h after the injection. For two more days and during the days before the administration of 17 alpha-OHPC, blood was taken at 8 a.m. before getting up from bed in same intervals, urine was collected for analysis of sodium and potassium excretion. During the first 12 h after the injection of 17 alpha-OHPC, the urinary sodium/potassium ratio significantly increased in all subjects. Plasma renin activity showed no characteristic changes at this time, whereas the plasma concentrations of aldosterone and cortisol decreased. The decrease of cortisol concentration started immediately after the injection and was more pronounced than that of plasma aldosterone. During the following 36 h, renin activity as well as aldosterone and cortisol concentrations in plasma showed an increase; in contrast, the sodium/potassium ratio decreased. On the basis of these results, the following effects of 17 alpha-OHPC are discussed: (1) an acute natriuresis which may be due to a competitive inhibition of aldosterone at the renal tubules, and (2) an inhibition of pituitary ACTH secretion or of adrenal steroid biosynthesis.  相似文献

Studies of the effect of intravenous sodium acetylsalicylate (aspirin) on gastrointestinal blood loss with 51Cr-labelled red cells were made on 15 healthy male volunteers. After a control period of five days 1 g. of sodium acetylsalicylate was infused over a period of 100 minutes twice daily for three days. Faecal blood loss was not increased.In a further six subjects 3 g. of sodium acetylsalicylate was infused over a period of 120 minutes. No salicylate or acetylsalicylate was detected in saliva or gastric washings from these six subjects. Hence gastrointestinal blood loss induced by aspirin may be explained by a local effect on mucosa and not by any systemic effect.  相似文献

In recent years, parametric speakers have been used in various circumstances. However, nothing has yet been demonstrated about the safety of parametric speakers for the human body. Therefore, we studied their effects on physiological functions. Nine male subjects participated in this study. They completed three consecutive sessions: a 20-min quiet period as a baseline, a 45-min mental task period with a general speaker or a parametric speaker, and a 20-min recovery period. We measured electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmogram (PTG), electroencephalogram (EEG), blood pressure (BP), and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS). Two experiments, one with a general speaker (the general condition), the other with a parametric speaker (the parametric condition), were conducted at the same time of day on separate days. To examine the effects of the parametric speaker, a two-way repeated measures ANOVA (speaker factor and time factor) was conducted. We found that sympathetic nervous activity and second derivative of PTG in task period and recovery period during the parametric condition were significantly lower than those indications during the general condition. Furthermore, Δ parasympathetic nervous activity during the parametric condition in task period and recovery period tended to be smaller than that during the general condition. The results suggested that the burden of the parametric speaker is lower than that of the general speaker for physiological functions, especially those of the cardiovascular system. Furthermore, we verified that the reaction time with the parametric speaker is shorter than that with the general speaker.  相似文献

The separate and combined effects of dietary energy and sodium restriction on regulation of blood pressure were investigated in 30 middle aged obese men with essential hypertension attending the outpatient department. In group 1 (n = 15) a basal period with no dietary restriction was followed by a period taking an energy reduced diet (5.1 MJ; 1230 kcal), the sodium intake being supplemented and hence unchanged (1:ErSn). In group 2 (n = 15) the basal period preceded a control period with no intervention, which was followed by taking a diet restricted in energy (5.1 MJ; 1220 kcal) and sodium (2:ErSr). During period 1:ErSn there were reductions in heart rate and urinary noradrenaline output but not in systolic or diastolic blood pressure. Body weight decreased by 4.9-11.7 kg and urinary sodium excretion did not change. In period 2:ErSr urinary sodium output was reduced by 81.4 (SEM 17.8) mmol(mEq)/24 h and there was a weight loss of 8.2 (SEM 0.7) kg. Systolic and diastolic blood pressures fell significantly, as did the heart rate and urinary noradrenaline excretion. These results show that in hypertensive obese men a moderate weight reducing diet decreases indices of sympathetic nervous system activity. Reduction of blood pressure to the normotensive range was observed only when there was a concomitant restriction of sodium intake.  相似文献

Janus kinase (JAK) 2 is activated by ANG II in vitro and in vivo, and chronic blockade of JAK2 by the JAK2 inhibitor AG-490 has been shown recently to attenuate ANG II hypertension in mice. In this study, AG-490 was infused intravenously in chronically instrumented rats to determine if the blunted hypertension was linked to attenuation of the renal actions of ANG II. In male Sprague-Dawley rats, after a control period, ANG II at 10 ng·kg(-1)·min(-1) was infused intravenously with or without AG-490 at 10 ng·kg(-1)·min(-1) iv for 11 days. ANG II infusion (18 h/day) increased mean arterial pressure from 91 ± 3 to 168 ± 7 mmHg by day 11. That response was attenuated significantly in the ANG II + AG-490 group, with mean arterial pressure increasing only from 92 ± 5 to 127 ± 3 mmHg. ANG II infusion markedly decreased urinary sodium excretion, caused a rapid and sustained decrease in glomerular filtration rate to ~60% of control, and increased renal JAK2 phosphorylation; all these responses were blocked by AG-490. However, chronic AG-490 treatment had no effect on the ability of a separate group of normal rats to maintain normal blood pressure when they were switched rapidly to a low-sodium diet, whereas blood pressure fell dramatically in losartan-treated rats on a low-sodium diet. These data suggest that activation of the JAK/STAT pathway is critical for the development of ANG II-induced hypertension by mediating its effects on renal sodium excretory capability, but the physiological control of blood pressure by ANG II with a low-salt diet does not require JAK2 activation.  相似文献

The goal of the work was a study of exhaustive weightlifting exercise effect on prolonged changes in physiological and biochemical variables characterized functional status of skeletal muscles. An exercise gave rise to significant blood lactate concentration increase that was indicative of an anaerobic metabolism to be a predominant mechanism of muscle contraction energy supply. A reduction of m. rectus femoris EMG activity (amplitude and frequency), tonus of tension and an increase in tonus of relaxation were found immediately after exercise. Both EMG amplitude and frequency were increased 1 day post-exercise. However, after 3 days of recovery, EMG amplitude and frequency were decreased again and, in parallel, blood serum creatine kinase (CK) activity was significantly increased. After 9 recovery days, all measured variables with the exception of CK were normalized. A significant reverse correlation was found between blood serum lactate concentration and m. rectus femoris EMG activity at the same time points. Blood serum CK activity and m. rectus femoris EMG and tonus variables were observed to be significantly reversely correlated on the 3rd post-exercise day. Presented data demonstrate that exhaustive exercise-induced muscle injury resulted in phase alterations in electrical activity and tonus which correlated with lactate concentration and CK activity in blood serum.  相似文献

To investigate the responses of pathogenesis-related (PR) proteins to the intensity of drought stress and their physiological significance in white clover ( Trifolium repens L.), the change of enzyme activity and its relationship with some physiological parameters were assessed for 28 days under well-watered (control) and water-deficit conditions. Water-deficit treatment gradually decreased leaf water potential (Ψw) to −2.33 MPa at day 28. Dry matter significantly decreased from 21 days of water-deficit treatment, while proline and ammonia concentration increased within 7 days. The increase in PR-protein activity was closely related with the decrease in Ψw. The β-1,3-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.39) activity in water-deficit leaves rapidly increased for the first 14 days (Ψw ≥ −1.67) and then slightly decreased, while the chitinase (EC 3.2.1.14) and cellulase (EC 3.2.1.4) activity continued to increase throughout the experimental period. The enhanced activation of β-1,3-glucanase, chitinase and cellulase for the period of days 0–14 was significantly ( P  ≤ 0.01) related to the increase of proline and ammonia concentrations. The results indicate that the enhanced activity of β-1,3-glucanase, cellulase and chitinase for the early period might be an act of transient tolerance to drought stress, but the activation of these enzymes during terminal stress might be a drought-stress-induced injurious symptom.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the protective efficacy of some antioxidants against sodium tungstate induced oxidative stress in male wistar rats. Animals were sub-chronically exposed to sodium tungstate (100 ppm in drinking water) for three months except for control group. In the same time, many rats were supplemented orally with different antioxidants (alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), n-acetylcysteine (NAC), quercetin or naringenin (0.30 mM)) for five consecutive days a week for the same mentioned period before. Exposure to sodium tungstate significantly (P < 0.05) inhibit blood δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALAD) activity, liver and blood reduced glutathione (GSH) levels and an increase in oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and thiobarbituric acid reactive species (TBARS) levels in tissues. ALA acid and NAC supplementation post sodium tungstate exposure increased GSH and also, was beneficial in the recovery of altered superoxide dismutase and catalase activity, besides, significantly reducing blood and tissue reactive oxygen species and TBARS levels. The results suggest a more pronounced efficacy of ALA acid and NAC supplementation than quercetin or naringenin supplementation post sodium tungstate exposure in preventing induced oxidative stress in rats.  相似文献

We have evaluated whether sodium bicarbonate, taken chronically (0.5 g x kg(-1) body mass) for a period of 5 days would improve the performance of eight subjects during 60 s of high-intensity exercise on an electrically braked cycle ergometer. The first test was performed prior to chronic supplementation (pre-ingestion) while the post-ingestion test took place 6 days later. A control test took place approximately 1 month after the cessation of all testing. Acid-base and metabolite data (n = 7) were measured from arterialised blood both pre- and post-exercise, as well as daily throughout the exercise period. The work completed by the subjects in the control and pre-ingestion test [21.1 (0.9) and 21.1 (0.9) MJ, respectively] was less than (P<0.05) that completed in the post-ingestion test [24.1 (0.9) MJ; F(2,21) = 3.4, P<0.05, power = 0.57]. Peak power was higher after the 5-day supplementation period (P<0.05). Ingestion of the sodium bicarbonate for a period of 5 days resulted in an increase in pH (F(5,36) = 12.5, P<0.0001, power = 1.0) over the 5-day period. The blood bicarbonate levels also rose during the trial (P<0.05) from a resting level of 22.8 (0.4) to 28.4 (1.1) mmol x l(-1) after 24 h of ingestion. In conclusion, the addition of sodium bicarbonate to a normal diet proved to be of ergogenic benefit in the performance of short-term, high-intensity work.  相似文献

BackgroundA reliable and practical method for assessing Cu status in live animals is not available. Blood Cu levels may not accurately reflect the true Cu status of the herd, and can over-predict Cu status during stress and inflammation. On the other hand, assessment of liver Cu is the most reliable indicator of Cu stores, but it is an invasive procedure that requires specialized training. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of Cu levels in red blood cells to determine the Cu status, with special emphasis in their correlation with erythrocyte Cu, Zn superoxide dismutase enzyme activity (ESOD), in bovines with Cu deficiency induced by high molybdenum and sulfur levels in the diet.MethodsThree similar assays were performed, with a total of twenty eight calves. The Cu-deficient group (n = 15) received a basal diet supplemented with 11 mg of Mo/kg DM as sodium molybdate, and S as sodium sulfate. The control group (n = 13) received a basal diet supplemented with 9 mg of Cu/kg DM as copper sulfate.Samples of blood and liver were taken every 28–35 days. Cu levels were measured in liver (expressed as µg/g DM), plasma (expressed as µg/dl), and erythrocytes (expressed as µg/g Hb) by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy. Superoxide dismutase (SOD1) activity was determined in red blood cells and was expressed as IU/mg hemoglobin.InfoStat Statistical Software 2020 was used for the statistical analysis. Cu levels in plasma, red blood cells and liver, and ESOD activity were analyzed by ANOVA. The correlation between erythrocyte Cu levels and the rest of the parameters were analyzed by Pearson Correlation test. Unweighted Least Squares Linear Regression of SOD1 was developed. The autocorrelation between the monthly measurements was also determined by Durbin-Watson test and autocorrelation function.ResultsThe assays lasted 314–341 days, approximately. Levels indicative of Cu deficiency for bovines were detected at 224 days (23 ± 11.6 µg/g DM) for liver Cu concentration; and at 198 days (55 ± 10.4 µg/dl) for plasma Cu concentration, in Cu-deficient animals. Liver and plasma Cu values indicative of Cu deficiency were not observed in the control group.Pearson Correlation test indicated that all indices of Cu status used in this study were significantly correlated. The highest value was obtained between ESOD and red blood Cu (0.74). There was a significant correlation between red blood Cu and plasma Cu (0.65), and with hepatic Cu (0.57). ESOD activity showed a similar significant positive correlation with liver Cu concentrations and with plasma Cu (0.59 and 0.58, respectively).ConclusionThe extremely low levels of liver and plasma Cu, the ESOD activity, erythrocyte Cu levels, and the periocular achromotrichia observed in the Cu-deficient animals showed that the clinic phase of Cu deficiency was reached in this group. The ESOD activity and erythrocyte Cu levels showed a strong association, indicating that the values of erythrocyte Cu may serve as an effective tool in assessing Cu status and diagnose a long-term Cu deficiency in cattle.  相似文献

Abstract

Four Thoroughbred mares (no. 1–4) were maintained under constant temperature (24°C) and controlled light (L/D:12/12 with lights on at 06.00 hr) conditions. They were fed and watered ad libitum with fresh feed and water given at 09.00 hr. After a 45‐day pre‐conditioning period, blood samples were obtained by veinipuncture at 4‐hr intervals for 14 days to determine circadian and day‐to‐day variation. The horses exhibited a circadian rhythm with maximum values attained at about 12.00 hr, however, there are periods of days in which no rhythm is distinguishable. Ultradian rhythms with mean periods of 105 to 128 and 24 to 31 min are superimposed upon the circadian rhythm. The individual rhythms are quite variable from horse to horse and within the same horse. During periods of decline in plasma cortisol with metabolic half‐lives of approximately 70 min, secretion of cortisol was very low or had ceased. During periods of increasing plasma concentration, secretion was occurring at a faster rate than degradation. Rapid decreases in plasma concentration (metabolic half‐life of approximately 30 min) was accompanied by a rise in specific activity indicating cortisol with a high specific activity was entering the plasma pool from other storage pools.  相似文献

The mechanisms by which chronic infusion of an initially subpressor low dose of angiotensin II (ANG II) causes a progressive and sustained hypertension remain unclear. In conscious sheep (n = 6), intravenous infusion of ANG II (2 microg/h) gradually increased mean arterial pressure (MAP) from 82 +/- 3 to 96 +/- 5 mmHg over 7 days (P < 0.001). This was accompanied by peripheral vasoconstriction; total peripheral conductance decreased from 44.6 +/- 6.4 to 38.2 +/- 6.7 ml.min(-1).mmHg(-1) (P < 0.001). Cardiac output and heart rate were unchanged. In the regional circulation, mesenteric, renal, and iliac conductances decreased but blood flows were unchanged. There was no coronary vasoconstriction, and coronary blood flow increased. Ganglion blockade (125 mg/h hexamethonium for 4 h) reduced MAP by 13 +/- 1 mmHg in the control period and by 7 +/- 2 mmHg on day 8 of ANG II treatment. Inhibition of central AT(1) receptors by intracerebroventricular infusion of losartan (1 mg/h for 3 h) had no effect on MAP in the control period or after 7 days of ANG II infusion. Pressor responsiveness to incremental doses of intravenous ANG II (5, 10, 20 microg/h, each for 15 min) was unchanged after 7 days of ANG II infusion. ANG II caused no sodium or water retention. In summary, hypertension due to infusion of a low dose of ANG II was accompanied by generalized peripheral vasoconstriction. Indirect evidence suggested that the hypertension was not neurogenic, but measurement of sympathetic nerve activity is required to confirm this conclusion. There was no evidence for a role for central angiotensinergic mechanisms, increased pressor responsiveness to ANG II, or sodium and fluid retention.  相似文献

Recent studies suggest that the interaction between small intestinal nutrient stimulation and the blood glucose concentration is important in the regulation of gastric motility and appetite. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the effects of cholecystokinin octapeptide (CCK-8) on antropyloric motility and appetite are influenced by changes in the blood glucose concentration within the normal postprandial range. Seven healthy volunteers were studied on 4 separate days. A catheter incorporating a sleeve sensor was positioned across the pylorus, and the blood glucose was stabilized at either 4 mmol/l (2 days) or 8 mmol/l (2 days). After the desired blood glucose had been maintained for 90 min, an intravenous infusion of either CCK-8 (2 ng. kg(-1). min(-1)) or saline (control) was given for 60 min. Thirty minutes after the infusion began, the catheter was removed and subjects drank 400 ml of water with guar gum before being offered a buffet meal. The amount of food consumed (kcal) was quantified. The order of the studies was randomized and single-blinded. There were fewer antral waves at a blood glucose of 8 than at 4 mmol/l during the 90-min period before the infusions (P<0.05) and during the first 30 min of CCK-8 or saline infusion (P = 0.07). CCK-8 suppressed antral waves (P<0.05), stimulated isolated pyloric pressure waves (IPPWs) (P<0.01), and increased basal pyloric pressure (P<0.005) compared with control. During administration of CCK-8, basal pyloric pressure (P<0.01), but not the number of IPPWs, was greater at a blood glucose of 8 mmol/l than at 4 mmol/l. CCK-8 suppressed the energy intake at the buffet meal (P<0.01), with no significant difference between the two blood glucose concentrations. We conclude that the acute effect of exogenous CCK-8 on basal pyloric pressure, but not appetite, is modulated by physiological changes in the blood glucose concentration.  相似文献

The withdrawal effect of spironolactone treatment on natriuresis was studied in relation to atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in five patients with primary aldosteronism due to adenoma. The patients had been treated with spironolactone for 2-3 months before they were admitted. After admission, blood pressure, body weight, and urinary excretion of sodium were measured daily. Venous samples were obtained twice a week for measurements of plasma levels of ANP, plasma renin activity (PRA), and plasma concentrations of aldosterone (PAC), cortisol, and deoxycorticosterone. The study was performed for 7 days during the treatment with spironolactone and for 18 days after stopping the administration. Plasma volume was determined two times, during the control period and on the 13th day after stopping spironolactone. Urinary sodium excretion decreased initially and returned to the control levels successively. Body weight and plasma volume increased, and blood pressure rose steadily. PRA and the plasma concentrations of cortisol and deoxycorticosterone decreased significantly (P less than 0.05); however, high levels of PAC did not alter significantly. Plasma ANP levels increased significantly (P less than 0.05) from 26 +/- 4 pg/ml during the control period to 195 +/- 47 pg/ml on the 13th day after stopping spironolactone. The data of the urinary sodium excretion showed the escape from sodium-retaining effect of aldosterone, and this escape could be explained by the increase in plasma ANP. Furthermore, ANP might contribute to the decrease in cortisol and deoxycorticosterone in plasma because of the direct inhibitory action of ANP on steroidogenesis.  相似文献

This study examined the effect of simultaneous supplementation of creatine and sodium bicarbonate on consecutive maximal swims. Sixteen competitive male and female swimmers completed, in a randomized order, 2 different treatments (placebo and a combination of creatine and sodium bicarbonate) with 30 days of washout period between treatments in a double-blind crossover procedure. Both treatments consisted of placebo or creatine supplementation (20 g per day) in 6 days. In the morning of the seventh day, there was placebo or sodium bicarbonate supplementation (0.3 g per kg body weight) during 2 hours before a warm-up for 2 maximal 100-m freestyle swims that were performed with a passive recovery of 10 minutes in between. The first swims were similar, but the increase in time of the second versus the first 100-m swimming time was 0.9 seconds less (p < 0.05) in the combination group than in placebo. Mean blood pH was higher (p < 0.01-0.001) in the combination group than in placebo after supplementation on the test day. Mean blood pH decreased (p < 0.05) similarly during the swims in both groups. Mean blood lactate increased (p < 0.001) during the swims, but there were no differences in peak blood lactate between the combination group (14.9 +/- 0.9 mmol.L(-1)) and placebo (13.4 +/- 1.0 mmol.L(-1)). The data indicate that simultaneous supplementation of creatine and sodium bicarbonate enhances performance in consecutive maximal swims.  相似文献

Shaoyao-Gancao-Tang (SGT), a traditional Chinese herbal medicine (Kampo formulation) containing Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix) and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix), is co-administered with laxative sodium picosulfate as a premedication for relieving the pain accompanying colonoscopy. Paeoniflorin (PF), an active glycoside of SGT, is metabolized into the antispasmodic agent paeonimetabolin-I (PM-I) by intestinal bacteria after oral administration. The objective of the present study was to investigate whether the co-administered laxative (sodium picosulfate) influences the metabolism of PF to PM-I by intestinal bacteria. We found that the PF-metabolizing activity of intestinal bacteria in rat feces was significantly reduced to approximately 34% of initial levels by a single sodium picosulfate pretreatment and took approximately 6 days to recover. Repeated administration of SGT after the sodium picosulfate pretreatment significantly shortened the recovery period to around 2 days. Similar results were also observed for plasma PM-I concentration. Since PM-I has muscle relaxant activity, the present results suggest that repetitive administration of SGT after sodium picosulfate pretreatment might be useful to relieve the pain associated with colonoscopy.  相似文献

Forty-one patients with mild essential hypertension, 36 patients with severe hypertension, and 28 normotensive subjects were studied on a high sodium intake of 350 mmol/day for five days and low sodium intake of 10 mmol/day for five days. The fall in mean arterial pressure on changing from the high-sodium to the low-sodium diet was 0.7 +/- 1.7 mm Hg in normotensive subjects, 8 +/- 1.4 mm Hg in patients with mild hypertension, and 14.5 +/- 1.4 mm Hg in patients with severe hypertension. The fall in blood pressure was not correlated with age. Highly significant correlations were obtained for all subjects between the ratio of the fall in mean arterial pressure to the fall in urinary sodium excretion on changing from a high- to a low-sodium diet and (a) the level of supine blood pressure on normal diet, (b) the rise in plasma renin activity, and (c) the rise in plasma aldosterone. In patients with essential hypertension the blood pressure is sensitive to alterations in sodium intake. This may be partly due to some change either produced by or associated directly with the hypertension. A decreased responsiveness of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system shown in the patients with essential hypertension could partly account for the results.  相似文献

The effect on renal function of replacing maternal drinking water with a solution containing 0.17 M NaCl was studied in 9 ewes and their chronically catheterised fetuses over a period of 9 days. Maternal sodium intake increased from control values of 2.19 +/- 0.09 mmol/h to 44.3 +/- 7.4 (P less than 0.001) and 46.3 +/- 6.5 mmol/h (P less than 0.001) on the 3rd and 6th days of salt ingestion. Maternal plasma sodium levels were not affected, but the urinary sodium/potassium ratio increased from 0.15 +/- 0.07 to 2.26 +/- 0.34 (P less than 0.001) after 6 days and plasma renin activity fell from 2.87 +/- 0.76 to 1.00 +/- 0.25 ng/ml per h (P less than 0.05). The changes in maternal sodium intake had no effect on fetal plasma sodium levels nor on fetal plasma renin activity. Sodium excretion and fetal urinary sodium/potassium ratio did not change. However, 3 days after the ewes returned to drinking water fetal plasma renin activity was significantly higher than it was prior to maternal ingestion of 0.17 M NaCl. Fetal plasma renin activity was inversely related to fetal plasma sodium levels (P less than 0.01). The results show that changes in maternal sodium intake had no long term effect on fetal plasma sodium levels nor on fetal renal sodium excretion. The fall in maternal plasma renin activity in the absence of any change in the fetal renin activity, indicates that the fetal renin angiotensin system is controlled by factors other than those influencing the maternal renin angiotensin system. Since fetal urinary sodium/potassium ratios remained unchanged it would suggest that fetal sodium excretion is not influenced by maternal levels of aldosterone.  相似文献
