In this paper, we propose and design a highly sensitive optical biochemical sensor based on two-layer dielectric loaded surface plasmon polariton waveguide (TDLSPPW)-based microring resonator (MRR). By optimizing the structure parameters, the propagation length of the proposed waveguide is ~126 μm, which is about 3 times of that of the polymer dielectric loaded surface plasmon polariton waveguide (DLSPPW) reported. It is demonstrated that the TDLSPPW-based MRR is operated at the under-coupling state, along with the quality factor (Q) of 541.2 and extinction ratio (ER) of 12.2 dB. Moreover, the Q and ER are much more sensitive to the structure parameters of the waveguide, including the waveguide width w, total thickness t, and coupling gap W gap, compared to the low refractive index (RI) layer thickness t 2. The simulation results on the biochemical RI sensing show that the sensitivities of 408.7 and 276.4 nm/RIU for glucose concentration in urine and chemical gases can be achieved, respectively. It is believed that the proposed sensor has potential applications in photonic-integrated biochemical sensing.  相似文献

Tunable properties of localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPR) of gold-dielectric multilayered nanoshells are studied by quasi-static theory and plasmon hybridization theory. Multilayered nanoshells with the gold core and nanoshell separated by a spacer layer exhibit strong coupling between the core and nanoshell plasmon resonance modes. It is found that the absorption spectra characteristics of LSPR are sensitive to multiple parameters including the surrounding medium refractive index, the dielectric constant of spacer layer, the radius of inner core gold sphere, outer shell layer thickness, and their coupling strength. The results show that LSPR is mainly influenced by the ratio of spacer layer dielectric constant ε 2 to surrounding medium dielectric constant ε 4. Absorption spectrum of \(\left |\omega _{-}^{+}\right \rangle \) mode is red-shifted with increasing core radius when ε 2 > ε 4. It is surprising to find that LSPR is blue-shifted with increasing core radius when ε 2 < ε 4, and no shift when ε 2 = ε 4. These interesting contrary shifts of \(\left |\omega _{-}^{+}\right \rangle \) mode with different ratios ε 2/ε 4 are well analysed with plasmon hybridization theory and the distributions of induced charges interaction between the inner core and outer shell. In addition, for the sake of clarity, the distributions of electric filed intensity at their plasmon resonance wavelengths are also calculated. This work may provide an alternative approach to analyse property of the core-shell nanoshell particles based on plasmon hybridization theory and the induced charge interaction.  相似文献

Abstract

Plant height (PHT) is a crucial trait related to plant architecture and yield potential, and dissection of its underlying genetic basis would help to improve the efficiency of designed breeding in wheat. Here, two quantitative trait loci (QTL) linked in coupling phase on the short arm of chromosome 2D with pleiotropic effects on PHT and spike length, QPht/Sl.cau-2D.1 and QPht/Sl.cau-2D.2, were separated and characterized. QPht/Sl.cau-2D.1 is a novel QTL located between SNP makers BS00022234_51 and BobWhite_rep_c63957_1472. QPht/Sl.cau-2D.2 is mapped between two SSR markers, SSR-2062 and Xgwm484, which are located on the same genomic interval as Rht8. Moreover, the diagnostic marker tightly linked with each QTL was developed for the haplotype analysis using diverse panels of wheat accessions. The frequency of the height-reduced allele of QPht/Sl.cau-2D.1 is much lower than that of QPht/Sl.cau-2D.2, suggesting that this novel QTL may be an attractive target for genetic improvement. Consistent with a previous study of Rht8, a significant difference in cell length was observed between the NILs of QPht/Sl.cau-2D.2. By contrast, there was no difference in cell length between NILs of QPht/Sl.cau-2D.1, indicating that the underlying molecular mechanism for these two QTL may be different. Collectively, these data provide a new example of QTL dissection, and the developed diagnostic markers will be useful in marker-assisted pyramiding of QPht/Sl.cau-2D.1 and/or QPht/Sl.cau-2D.2 with the other genes in wheat breeding.

Localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) of Ag-dielectric-Ag multi-layered nanoshell are studied by quasi-static approximation and plasmon hybridization theory. Absorption properties of multi-layered nanoshell with the silver core and nanoshell separated by a dielectric layer exhibit strong coupling between the core and nanoshell. The result shows absorption spectrum of LSPRS is influenced by the refractive index of surrounding medium, the dielectric constant of middle dielectric layer, the thickness of inner core radius and outer shell layer. LSPR shift of the longest wavelength \(\left |\omega _{-}^{-}\right >\) is red-shifted with increasing the inner core radius. It is interesting to find that longer wavelength \(\left |\omega _{-}^{+}\right >\) mode is mainly effected by the ratio constant of the surrounding medium refractive index ε 4 to the middle layer dielectric constant ε 2. \(\left |\omega _{-}^{+}\right >\) mode takes place a blue-shift with increasing inner core radius when ε 2 > ε 4, a red-shift when ε 2 < ε 4, and no-shifting when ε 2 = ε 4. However, the influence of dielectric layer radius to \(\left |\omega _{-}^{+}\right >\) mode shows the different property as that of increasing the inner core radius. The underlying mechanisms are analyzed with the plasmon hybridization theory and the distribution of induced charge interaction between the inner core and outer shell. In addition, the influence of core radius, middle dielectric layer radius and outer shell radius to sensitivity of Ag-dielectric-Ag multi-layered nanoshell are also reported, a higher sensitivity could be gotten by adjusting geometrical parameters. Our theoretical study could give an easy way to analyze properties of the core-shell nanosphere based on plasmon hybridization theory and the induced charge interaction, and usefully broaden the applications in nano-optics.  相似文献

Background

G. sulfurreducens is one of the commonest microbes used in microbial fuel cells (MFCs) for organic-to-electricity biotransformation. In MFCs based on this microorganism, electrons can be conveyed to the anode via three ways: 1) direct electron transfer (DET) mode, in which electrons of reduced c-type cytochromes in the microbial outer membrane are directly oxidized by the anode; 2) mediated electron transfer (MET) mode, in which the reducing potential available from cell metabolism in the form of NADH is targeted as an electron source for electricity generation with the aid of exogenous mediators; and 3) a putative mixed operation mode involving both electron transfer mechanisms described above (DET and MET). However, the potential of G. sulfurreducens for current output in these three operation modes and the metabolic mechanisms underlying the extraction of the reducing equivalents are still unknown.

Results

In this study, we performed flux balance analysis (FBA) of the genome-scale metabolic network to compute the fundamental metabolic potential of G. sulfurreducens for current output that is compatible with reaction stoichiometry, given a realistic nutrient uptake rate. We also developed a method, flux variability analysis with target flux minimization (FATMIN) to eliminate futile NADH cycles. Our study elucidates the possible metabolic strategies to sustain the NADH for current production under the MET and Mixed modes. The results showed that G. sulfurreducens had a potential to output current at up to 3.710 A/gDW for DET mode, 2.711 A/gDW for MET mode and 3.272 A/gDW for a putative mixed MET and DET mode. Compared with DET, which relies on only one contributing reaction, MET and Mixed mode were more resilient with ten and four reactions respectively for high current production.

Conclusions

The DET mode can achieve a higher maximum limit of the current output than the MET mode, but the MET has an advantage of higher power output and more flexible metabolic choices to sustain the electric current. The MET and DET modes compete with each other for the metabolic resource for the electricity generation.

The abundance, diversity and community structure of ammonia oxidizing archaea (AOA) and bacteria (AOB) in rice rhizosphere soils under three different irrigation cultivated modes, named continuous irrigation mode (C), intermittent irrigation mode (I) and semi-arid mode (M), respectively, were investigated using amoA gene as a molecular biomarker. Clone libraries and quantitative polymerase chain reaction results indicated the highest number of archaeal amoA gene copy was detected in M cultivation mode, then in I and C, whereas, their order of amoA gene copy numbers were I > M > C for AOB, and those were obvious higher than in the bulk soil. The ratios of AOA/AOB were greater than 1 for all samples, suggested the predominance of AOA throughout the period of rice growth in the three different irrigation cultivation modes. Diversity index (SChao1 and Shannon H) have an obvious variation in three different irrigation cultivation modes. For AOA, SChao1 was highest in M and lowest in I mode, whereas, Shannon H was highest in M cultivation mode and lowest in C mode. For AOB, mode M exhibited the highest diversity index (SChao1 and Shannon H), while C showed the lowest highest diversity, suggested long-term water input (continuous mode) may decrease diversity of ammonia oxidizers, whereas mode M may be more appropriate for them. In addition, AOA sequences fall within Nitrososphaera, Nitrosopumilus and Nitrosotalea cluster with proportion of 89.38, 8.85 and 1.77 %, respectively. AOB gene sequences belonged to the Nitrosomonas and Nitrosospira genera with proportion of 90.97 and 9.03 %, respectively. In addition, the abundances, diversity and community structure had an obvious temporal variation in three developmental stages of rice, further suggested rice growth obviously affected the ammonia oxidizing prokaryotes in their rhizosphere soil.  相似文献

A recently published plasmonic biosensor based on birefringent solid-core microstructured optical fiber is applied for the detection of human blood groups. The birefringent behavior is obtained by removing five central air holes of a two-ring hexagonal lattice of holes in a gold-covered silica fiber with the blood layer surrounding the fiber. The sensing performance of two resonant modes (I based on a phase matching point and II based on a loss matching point) are analyzed. For an increase of the refractive index from 1.3768 (human blood group A) to 1.3796 (human blood group O), the resonance spectral width δλ 0.5 is decreased from 26.8 to 25.8 nm for the core mode I and δλ 0.5 is increased from 28.3 to 33.2 nm for the core mode II. In addition, the amplitude sensitivity S A is increased from 329.7 to 372.2 RIU?1 for the core mode I and S A is decreased from 298.2 to 283.7 RIU?1 for the core mode II. The average value (26.20 nm for core mode I and 31.07 nm for core mode II) of δλ 0.5 from the human blood groups A, B, and O for our plasmonic biosensor is smaller in comparison with a recently published average value (39.10 nm) of the full width at half maximum (FWHM). Our biosensor can be calibrated for a glycerol-water solution by using the linear dependence between the refractive index n a and the mass fraction w of the solutes.  相似文献

The analysis of some morphological characteristics of protoceratopoid skeletons, the extent of mobility of the vertebral column, and the probable adaptive significance of these features suggest that Bagaceratops had a mostly aquatic mode of life, Protoceratops was semiaquatic, Udanoceratops was facultatively aquatic, and Leptoceratops was predominantly terrestrial. Protoceratopoids were quadrupeds, with the prevalence of hind limbs, probably using slow or rapid trotlike gait. An asymmetrical locomotion was most likely impossible. On dry land, Bagaceratops and Protoceratops moved slowly. Udanoceratops and Leptoceratops approximately equally used rapid and slow locomotor modes, although the second could run for a longer time than the first.  相似文献

Cardiac rhythmogram (CRG) variability at the early stage of loading and recovery periods has a number of parameters associated with the functional state of subjects. These parameters can be estimated by measuring the probability of pairs of RR intervals with certain length differences (pNNx). At the same time, each of these parameters has its own diagnostic role, such as the binary marker of adaptation reserves (pNN15), loading tolerance level (pNN5, 10) and a criterion for the training level (pNN10, 15). The pNNx coupling with the endured load power and the dynamics of heart rate (HR) is to a great extent determined by the mixed endurance level. Higher pNNx values correspond with the predominant load and lower heart rate, regardless of the period. Physiological relevance of pNNx is determined by their behavior, diagnostic role, the sensitivity of each argument (x), and the level of aerobic/anaerobic endurance of a subject.  相似文献

A novel design of a polarization filter based on photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is proposed in this paper. With the introduction of a gold-coated air hole, the resonance strength is much stronger in y-polarized direction than in x-polarized direction at some particular wavelengths, which is due to the metal surface plasmon effects. At the wavelength of 1.31 μm, the loss of y-polarized mode is 2138.34 dB/cm while the loss is very low in x polarization. Furthermore, the loss peak can be flexibly adjusted from the wavelength of 1.26 to 1.56 μm by changing the thickness of a gold layer, and the loss in y polarization can be kept above 1200 dB/cm. The significant loss in y polarization makes this PCF a good candidate for developing a polarization filter with high performance.  相似文献

Based on silicon plasmonic waveguide with asymmetrical metal and dielectric coatings, we show that in-plane light beam with orbital angular momentum (OAM) in its axis field component could be generated by forming a π/2 phase difference between two fundamental modes of the asymmetrical waveguide. At the same time, the transverse field components contain a spin angular momentum due to the polarization rotation in the asymmetrical waveguide. The whole structure is ultracompact with a footprint less than < 3 × 0.5 × 0.5 μm. The proposed method to generate OAM beam in a waveguide would be interesting for on-chip integrated optical tweezers, information processing, etc.  相似文献

The enhancement of the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of deep-ultraviolet Al x Ga1-x N/Al y Ga1-y N (x < y) quantum wells (QWs) by fabricating one-dimensional Al nanogratings on a QW structure for inducing surface plasmon (SP) coupling is demonstrated. Through temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) measurement, the enhancements of IQE in different emission polarizations are illustrated. Due to the small difference in energy band level between the heavy/light hole and split-off valence bands, the IQEs of the transverse electric- (TE-) and transverse magnetic- (TM-) polarized emissions are about the same. When emission polarization is perpendicular to Al-grating ridges, the SP resonance mode for coupling with the QWs is dominated by localized surface plasmon (LSP). When emission polarization is parallel with Al-grating ridges, the coupled SP resonance mode may mix LSP and SP polariton. In this polarization, LSP can be excited because of the width fluctuation of a grating ridge. When the excitation laser polarization is perpendicular to Al-grating ridges, the strong LSP resonance at the excitation laser wavelength leads to stronger excitation and hence higher IQE levels.  相似文献

Four new species of Telenominae of the genera Telenomus and Platytelenomus, collected in the territory of the Ukraine, Hungary, and Japan, were described: Telenomus (T.) bicolorus Kononova, T. (T.) ardens Kononova, (T.) michaylovi Kononova, and Platytelenomus mirabilis Kononova. Brief morphological characteristics of the genera Telenomus and Platytelenomus are given, and some notes concerning biology and geographical distribution of the species are presented. Telenomus (T.) bicolorus differs from all the known species of the genus Telenomus in the two-colored body: head and thorax yellow with brownish tint ventrally, mesothorax and abdomen black. The main distinguishing feature of T. (T.) ardens is its smooth shining body, T. (T.) michaylovi is similar to T. (T.) rudis Kozlov. These species can be distinguished by the structure of their antenna. The second to fourth segments of the antennal clava are transverse in T. (T.) michaylovi and are as long as wide in T. (T.) rudis. In addition, the abdominal stem and abdominal tergite II are smooth and shining, while the abdominal stem in T. (T.) rudis is striate along the entire length, and tergite II is finely striate along half of its length. Platytelenomus mirabilis is closely related to P. danubialis Szelényi, but differs in the strongly flattened body, sculpture of the abdominal stem and tergite II, and coloration of the legs. The thorax of P. mirabilis is 4–5 times as wide as high, the abdominal stem is striate along the entire length, tergite II is striate at the base, and the legs, including coxae, are yellow. The thorax of P. danubialis is 4 times as wide as high, the abdominal stem and tergite II are smooth and shining, and the legs are brown.  相似文献

Three new psilostomid genera, Byrdtrema n. g., Longisaccus n. g. and Macracetabulum n. g., each with a single species, are described from ducks, Aix sponsa (L.) and Bucephala albeola (L.) in North America. Byrdtrema n. g. and Macracetabulum n. g. possess a bipartite seminal vesicle and share this character with four psilostomid genera, Grysoma Byrd, Bogitsh & Maples, 1961, Neopsilotrema Kudlai, Pulis, Kostadinova & Tkach, 2016, Psilostomum Looss, 1899 and Psilotornus Byrd & Prestwood, 1969. Byrdtrema n. g. differs from Macracetabulum n. g. in the shape of the body (elongate vs elongate-oval); the position of the ventral sucker (in first third of body vs just pre-equatorial); the shorter forebody; as well as in the smaller size of the eggs in relation to body length. Both new genera differ from (i) Grysoma by the nature of the vitellarium (large, compact follicles with small vitelline cells vs weakly defined follicles with large vitelline cells, respectively) and the smaller size of the eggs in relation to body length; (ii) Psilostomum in the posterior extend of the cirrus-sac in relation to ventral sucker (slightly posterior vs more posterior), the location of the genital pore (at the level of oesophagus vs just postbifurcal), the shorter length of uterine and longer post-testicular fields in relation to body length, and the anterior limits of vitellarium (at the level of ventral sucker vs posterior to ventral sucker); (iii) Psilotornus by the presence of a muscular pharynx (vs absent or rudimentary) and the location of the cirrus-sac (antero-dorsal to ventral sucker or more posterior vs entirely anterior to ventral sucker) and ovary (in hindbody vs in forebody). Byrdtrema n. g. differs from Neopsilotrema in the shape of the body (elongate vs subspherical to elongate-oval) and ventral sucker (elongate-oval vs subspherical to transversely oval), the shorter forebody and smaller eggs in relation to body length. Macracetabulum n. g. differs from Neopsilotrema by the shape of the ventral sucker (elongate-oval vs subspherical to transversely oval), the anterior limits of vitellarium (level of middle of ventral sucker vs level of intestinal bifurcation or anterior testis); and the slightly smaller size of eggs in relation to body length. Among the psilostomid genera, Longisaccus n. g. shows close affinities to Psilochasmus Lühe, 1909 in the presence of the long cirrus-sac and tubular internal seminal vesicle but can be clearly distinguished from the latter by the absence of the retractile tail-like process. In combination with molecular data, the above differences justify the recognition of three new genera. A key to the genera of the Psilostomidae is provided.  相似文献

Based on light and scanning electron microscopical studies, two new gonad-infecting species of Philometra Costa, 1845, P. draco n. sp. and P. radiata n. sp. (Nematoda: Philometridae), are described from the marine perciform fishes Trachinus draco (Linnaeus) and T. radiatus (Linnaeus) (both Trachinidae), respectively, in the Gulf of Hammamet, off the northeastern coast of Tunisia. Philometra draco n. sp. and P. radiata n. sp. can be separated from other gonad-infecting species of this genus by the structures associated to the gubernaculum (e.g. dorsal protuberance, smooth field separating the dorsolateral longitudinal parts), as well as by the length of the body, spicules and gubernaculum. Philometra radiata n. sp. can be distinguished from P. draco n. sp. in having the dorsal side of the gubernaculum distal end provided with a median longitudinal smooth field demarcated by two dorsolateral lamellate parts. These two new species are the first philometrid species described from fishes of the family Trachinidae.  相似文献

Truffles are the fruiting structures of ascomycetes in the genus Tuber. Because of their economic importance, truffles have been cultivated for many years using artificially inoculated host plants. Nevertheless, the life cycle and reproductive mode of Tuber spp. are still poorly understood. In filamentous ascomycetes, sexual reproduction is genetically controlled by the mating-type (MAT) locus. Among Tuber spp., the MAT locus has been recently characterized in the black truffles Tuber melanosporum and Tuber indicum. Here, by using sequence information derived from these species and from a Tuber borchii expressed sequence tag (EST) showing similarity to the mat1 gene of Alternaria brassicicola, we embarked on a chromosome-walking procedure to sequence the complete MAT region of T. borchii. This fungus produces highly commercialized whitish truffles and represents a model species for addressing basic questions concerning the life cycle of Tuber spp. We show that T. borchii is heterothallic, as its MAT locus is organized into two idiomorphs, each harbored by different mycelial strains. The alignment of the MAT locus from black truffles and T. borchii reveals that extensive sequence rearrangements and inversions occurred between these species. Moreover, by coupling mating-type analyses to karyological observation, we show that mycelia isolated from ascocarps and mycorrhizae are formed by homokaryotic hyphae.  相似文献

Distributions and oviposition sites of Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura) and its parasitoids on wild cherry tree were studied in early summer in a suburb of Tokyo, central Japan. Adults of D. suzukii occurred in the foliage layer as well as in the undergrowth layer. The number of D. suzukii that emerged did not significantly differ between wild cherry fruit collected from the foliage layer and those from the undergrowth layer. In addition, the number of D. suzukii that emerged per fruit decreased when fruit were left on the ground longer. It is therefore assumed that D. suzukii females rarely oviposit eggs in fallen wild cherry fruit. The suzukii-associated type of Ganaspis brasiliensis (Ihering) was the major parasitoid that emerged from D. suzukii in the study area. The rate of parasitism by this parasitoid did not significantly differ between larvae in fresh fruit from the foliage layer and those in fallen fruit from the undergrowth layer. This may also suggest that this wasp rarely attacks D. suzukii larvae in fallen fruit. Adults of the suzukii-associated type of G. brasiliensis, Asobara sp. TK1, and Leptopilina japonica that attack D. suzukii were mainly collected from the foliage layer. On the basis of the present results, some proposals for the control of D. suzukii were discussed.  相似文献

Identification of pollen grains of cultivated plants is essential in archaeobotanical studies. In this study, we investigated the pollen morphology of 30 species which are representatives of most of the crop plants in southern China, using a light microscope. Our results show that the pollen grains of these species or genera can generally be identified by their size, aperture(s) and exine sculpture. We found that: (1) some cultivated cereals can be distinguished from wild species of Poaceae according to their size frequency combined with their morphological features; (2) the lengths of the equatorial diameter (E), polar axis (P) and the greatest dimension of the lumina (the size of the network sculpturing) of the exine reticulum may be diagnostic features to distinguish some brassicaceous vegetables. There are significant differences between the E and P values among Brassica campestris (B. rapa, oilseed rape, Chinese cabbage), B. alboglabra (B. oleracea var. alboglabra, gai lan, Chinese kale), B. parachinensis (B. rapa var. parachinensis, choy sum, Chinese flowering cabbage) and B. chinensis (B. rapa ssp. chinensis, pak choi), but moderate differences in the longer axis length of the reticulum lumina, which provide potential for identifying species on the basis of pollen grains. We compared the P values and the longer axis length of the lumina of modern specimens of Brassicaceae pollen grains with those of fossil pollen extracted from the Ming-Qing cultural layer in the Fuqikou site at Chongqing, China, and found that the fossil pollen grains of Brassicaceae probably represent vegetable plants related to B. parachinensis. Moreover, we measured the diameters of rice pollen grains from modern paddy fields to assess the pollen size frequency and found that the size range from ~?34 to 38 µm is closely associated with rice pollen in southern China, which can be used to detect pollen signals of human activities in archaeobotanical investigations.  相似文献

The nonlinear dynamics of beam–plasma instability in a finite magnetic field is investigated numerically. In particular, it is shown that decay instability can develop. Special attention is paid to the influence of the beam?plasma coupling factor on the spectral characteristics of a plasma relativistic microwave accelerator (PRMA) at different values of the magnetic field. It is shown that two qualitatively different physical regimes take place at two values of the external magnetic field: B 0 = 4.5 kG (Ω ~ ωB p ) and 20 kG (Ω B ? ωp). For B 0 = 4.5 kG, close to the actual experimental value, there exists an optimal value of the gap length between the relativistic electron beam and the plasma (and, accordingly, an optimal value of the coupling factor) at which the PRMA output power increases appreciably, while the noise level decreases.  相似文献
