Balanophora indica(Arn.)Griff.belongs to Balanophoraceae.Plants dioecious.Rhizome yellowish orange to brown,surface coarsely tessellated and with stellate warts;branches subglobose,0.5-5.6 cm in diam,rarely cylindric.Scapes yellow,7.2-20 cm.Male inflorescences red,ovoid-ellipsoid,(5-10)cm×(2-6)cm.Male flowers:reddish,actinomorphic,each subtended by a single stout and truncate bract.Perianth lobes 4-6,elliptic-lanceolate,(3-7)mm×(1-2.5)mm.Synandria elliptic-ovate,2.5-5 mm,stalked;anthers 4 or 5,U-shaped,longitudinally dehiscent.Female inflorescences globose,3-5 cm in diam.Spadicles subclavate,to 2 mm,apical 1/2 to 2/3 ellipsoid-obovoid;cuticular ridges of apical cells short but distinct and congested all over.Female flowers:basally on spadicles and main axis of inflorescence.Flowering October to December.  相似文献

Plants have evolved multiple defense strategies to cope with pathogens, among which plant immune signaling that relies on cell-surface localized and intracellular receptors takes fundamental roles. Exciting breakthroughs were made recently on the signaling mechanisms of pattern recognition receptors(PRRs) and intracellular nucleotide-binding site(NBS) and leucine-rich repeat(LRR)domain receptors(NLRs). This review summarizes the current view of PRRs activation, emphasizing the most recent discoveries about PRRs’ dynamic regulation and signaling mechanisms directly leading to downstream molecular events including mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) activation and calcium(Ca2+) burst. Plants also have evolved intracellular NLRs to perceive the presence of specific pathogen effectors and trigger more robust immune responses. We also discuss the current understanding of the mechanisms of NLR activation, which has been greatly advanced by recent breakthroughs including structures of the first full-length plant NLR complex, findings of NLR sensor-helper pairs and novel biochemical activity of Toll/interleukin-1 receptor(TIR) domain.  相似文献

The embryogenic capacity of Araujia sericifera petals and some of the factors involved in the induction of embryos was investigated. The influence of 6-benzyladenine and α-naphthalene acetic acid, light intensity (90 or 5 μmol m-2 s-1) and silver thiosulphate (inhibitor of ethylene action) were studied. It was found that petals are an easy system in which to induce somatic embryogenesis. Plants were recovered from somatic embryos. Although 6-benzyladenine is essential for inducing an efficient response, a high dosage increased callogenesis and reduced embryogenesis. The highest rate of embryogenesis is induced with high light intensity (90–100 μmol m-2 s-1), even though the presence of silver thiosulphate in the medium markedly reduced embryo induction. In multicellular plant organs, cell shape formation depends on molecular switches to transduce developmental or environmental signals and to coordinate cell‐to‐cell communication. Plants have a specific subfamily of the Rho GT Pase family, usually called Rho of Plants(ROP), which serve as a critical signal transducer involved in many cellular processes. In the last decade, important advances in the ROP‐mediated regulation of plant cell morphogenesis have been made by using Arabidopsis thaliana leaf and cotyledon pavement cells.Especially, the auxin‐ROP signaling networks have been demonstrated to control interdigitated growth of pavement cells to form jigsaw‐puzzle shapes. Here, we review findings related to the discovery of this novel auxin‐signaling mechanism at the cell surface. This signaling pathway is to a large extent independent of the well‐known Transport Inhibitor Response(TIR)–Auxin Signaling F‐Box(AFB) pathway, and instead requires Auxin Binding Protein 1(ABP1) interaction with the plasma membrane‐localized, transmembrane kinase(TMK) receptor‐like kinase to regulate ROP proteins. Once activated, ROP influences cytoskeletal organization and inhibits endocytosis of the auxin transporter PIN1. The present review focuses on ROP signaling and its self‐organizing feature allowing ROP proteins to serve as a bustling signal decoder and integrator for plant cell morphogenesis.  相似文献

Plants of Brassica juncea L. cv. T-59 were supplied with 50 or 100 μM nickel (Ni50, Ni100) at 10 d after sowing (DAS), and sprayed with 28-homobrassinolide (HBR) at 20 DAS. The plants treated with Ni alone exhibited reduced growth, net photosynthetic rate, content of chlorophyll, and the activities of nitrate reductase (E.C.1.6.6.1) and carbonic anhydrase (E.C. 4.2.1.1) at observed 40 DAS, whereas, the contents of peroxidase (PER), catalase (CAT), and proline were increased. However, the spray of HBR partially neutralized the toxic effect of Ni on most of the parameters. Moreover, the treatment of HBR in association with either of the Ni concentration boosted the contents of PER and CAT in leaves and that of proline both in leaves and roots.  相似文献

Most multicellular organisms can be categorised by two words: hierarchy and composite. The underlying fractal geometry of nature - at least in terms of provision of infrastructure - provides much of the hierarchy, although many materials for which infrastructure is not an integral factor are also strongly hierarchical. Plants can therefore be modelled using recursive computer programs which add structures as the size increases. However, problems with mechanical stability also increase as the structure grows, so the plant changes from deriving stiffness from intevaal pressure to cross-linking the cell wall components permanently. Zygotic embryos of Karwinskia parvifolia, isolated from seeds obtained from different regions of Mexico, were cultured on Woody Plant Medium (WPM) supplemented with 0.06 μM indole-3-acetic acid, 0.03 μM gibberellic acid, and 2 μM 6-benzylaminopurine. The growth of embryos and multiplication of shoots from stem segments were achieved. Rooting of excised shoots could be initiated on basal WPM medium with prolonged subculture period to 2 months, or on WPM medium supplemented with 10 μM 1-naphthaleneacetic acid. Multiplication capacity of shoots and rooting of K. parvifolia differed in dependence on the origin of explant material. The shoot multiplication was much lower than that of Karwinskia humboldtiana. The rooting depended on the origin of K. parvifolia seeds. The regenerated plants were successfully transferred to glasshouse. The influence of triacontanol in a form of Tomatex preparation on basic indices of chlorophyll fluorescence in tomato leaves (Delfina cv.), yield of fruits, and dry matter content in fruits was evaluated in a pot experiment situated in vegetation hall in 1999. Tomatex was applied into roots at seedling stage (6–7 leaves) or at the stage of seedling and flowering of the 2nd inflorescence bunch. Plants were given by 0.3, 3.0, and 30 μg triacontanol per pot at a single dosage. Results obtained have shown that triacontanol regardless of the dose applied, significantly increased the maximal efficiency of PSII photochemistry in the dark (Fv/Fm), the efficiency of excitation capture by open PSII reaction centers (Fv’/Fm’), the actual quantum yield of PSII electron transport in the light-adapted state (ΦPSII), the photochemical quenching coefficient (Qp). However, nonphotochemical quenching coefficient (Qn) and non-radiative dissipation (NPQ) were decreased. Plants treated with triacontanol at the doses of 0.3 and 3.0 μg had significantly higher yields of fruits than control. No differences were found between plants treated once and twice with the growth regulator. Triacontanol did not show univocal effects on dry matter content in fruits either.  相似文献

The effects of NaCl stress on the activity of anti-oxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase (CAT),peroxidase (POD),ascorbate peroxidase (APX), monodehydroascorbate reductase, dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR), and glutathionereductase (GR)), anti-oxidant molecules (ascorbate and glutathione), and parameters of oxidative stress (malondialdehyde(MDA), electrolyte leakage, and H_2O_2 concentrations) were investigated in Cakile maritima, a halophyte frequent along theTunisian seashore. Seedlings were grown in the presence of salt (100, 200, and 400 mmol/L NaCI). Plants were harvestedperiodically over 20 days. Growth was maximal in the presence of 0-100 mmol/L NaCl. At 400 mmol/L NaCl, growthdecreased significantly. The salt tolerance of C. maritima, at moderate salinities, was associated with the lowest values ofthe parameters indicative of oxidative stress, namely the highest activities of POD, CAT, APX, DHAR, and GR and high tissuecontent of ascorbate and glutathione. However, prolonged exposure to high salinity resulted in a decrease in anti-oxidantactivities and high MDA content, electrolyte leakage, and H_2O_2 concentrations. These results suggest that anti-oxidantsystems participate in the tolerance of C. maritima to moderate salinities.  相似文献
