The nitrosamine adsorbed on close-ended and open-ended pristine and Stone-Wales defective (5,5) armchair single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) was studied using the B3LYP/6-31G(d) method. Structure optimization of all possible adsorption configurations based on the combination of two nitrosamine (amino- and imino-) isomers and four types of nanotubes was carried out. The most stable configuration for the nitrosamine adsorbed on the (5,5) armchair SWCNTs was found to be dissociative chemisorption. The adsorption energies of the most stable structures of the adsorption complexes of close-ended and open-ended pristine SWCNTs with the imino isomer of nitrosamine were −127.15 and −137.14 kcal mol−1, respectively.  相似文献

Abstract

The Monte Carlo method was used in its grand ensemble variant (GCMC) in combination with CO2 and N2 experimental isotherm data at low (77 and 195.5 K) and ambient temperatures (298 and 308 K), in order to characterize microporous carbons and obtain the corresponding pore size distribution (PSD). In particular, the CO2 and N2 densities and the isosteric heats of adsorption inside single, slit shaped, graphitic pores of given width were found on the basis of GCMC for pre-defined temperatures and different relative pressures. In a further step, we determined the optimal PSD for which the best match is obtained between computed and measured isotherms. Comparisons were made between the PSDs found for the same carbon sample at low and ambient temperatures for different gases, and conclusions concerning the applicability of the method and the reliability of the resulting micropore size distributions were drawn.  相似文献

Moisture sorption isotherms of figs with and without glucose syrup (at 20% and 40%, w/w) were determined at 5 °C, 25 °C, and 40 °C. A static gravimetric method was used under 0.11–0.84 water activity ranges for the determination of sorption isotherms that were found to be typical type ΙΙΙ for control sample. The inclusion of glucose syrup had significant effects on the sorption isotherms, and the moisture content of samples at each a w decreased with increasing temperature. The experimental data were fitted well with two-parameter Brunauer–Emmet–Teller, three-parameter Guggenheim–Anderson–de Boer, and four-parameter Peleg models that all had R 2 of greater than 0.99. The net isosteric heats of sorption were estimated using the Clausius–Clapeyron equation from the equilibrium data at different temperatures. It was found that the addition of glucose syrup significantly increased the amount of monolayer water and the isosteric heat of sorption. Both water activity and isosteric heat of sorption increased with glucose syrup level and the shape and status of sorption isotherms tend to change toward the typical sigmoid shape of most food systems.  相似文献

Performed on rats was study of the cause of appearance of stress reaction at action of hyperbaria upon organism. It was established that at the 5-h long action of gas mixtures (oxygen—nitrogen and oxygen—argon) under pressure of 0.35 and 0.5 MPa and partial pressure of oxygen of 0.02–0.03 MPa in camera 300 l in volume there was clearly realized stress confirmed by the corresponding markers. The appearance of stress was connected with density of gas mixture, which amounted to 6 g/l, that mechanically makes breathing difficult. On the other hand, use for respiration mixtures of elegas (SF6) with density of 6 g/l at normal pressure produces pronounced stress. At equal density, no difference was revealed in action of nitrogen, argon or elegas. Thus, use of high pressures requires light gases (helium, hydrogen, neon) that have low density.  相似文献

Canonical Monte Carlo (CMC) simulations were carried out to investigate the behavior of CO2 and N2 mixtures upon adsorption on single walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). In the simulation, all the particle–particle interactions between CO2, N and C were modeled using Lennard-Jones (LJ) potential. To provide deep insight into the effect of pore width, temperature, pressure and bulk composition on the adsorption behavior of CO2 /N2 mixtures, five different CNTs [(6,6), (7,7), (8,8) (9,9) and (10,10) CNT] with diameters ranging from 0.807 to 1.35 nm, three temperatures (300 323 and 343 K), six pressures (0.15, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 MPa), and three bulk mole compositions of carbon dioxide (0.3 0.5 and 0.7) were tested. The results from all the simulation conditions investigated in this work show that CNTs preferentially adsorb carbon dioxide relative to nitrogen in a binary mixture. The results are consistent with the hypothesis that stronger interaction of one component with the nanotube surface results in a higher adsorption capacity compared to the other component. An optimized pore size of D = 8.07 nm corresponding to (6, 6) CNT, at T = 300 K and P = 0.15 MPa at a bulk mole composition of yCO2 =0.3 was identified in which carbon nanotubes demonstrate the greatest selectivity for separation of carbon dioxide relative to nitrogen. In addition, it is worth pointing out that, under similar simulation conditions, CNTs exhibit higher selectivity compared to other carbon-based materials [carbon membrane polyimide (PI) and PI/multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)] for CO2 adsorption. As a prototype, the selectivity of an equimolar mixture of CO2 /N2 for adsorption on (6, 6) CNTs at 300 K and 0.15 MPa reaches 9.68, which is considerably larger than that reported in carbon membrane. Therefore, it can be concluded that carbon nanotubes can act as a capable adsorbent for adsorption/desorption of CO2 in comparison with other carbon-based materials in the literature.  相似文献

Abstract

Grand Ensemble Monte-Carlo simulations of adsorption of argon and nitrogen in silicalite have been performed using a new adsorbate/zeolite potential function. In both cases, a good agreement with zero coverage data (Henry law constant and isosteric heat of adsorption) has been obtained. For argon, the simulated isotherm at 77 K exhibits the experimentally observed step. This is attributed to an in site/off-site phase transition of the adsorbed phase. The calculated neutron diffraction spectra are in reasonable agreement with those obtained experimentally. Furthermore, we suggest, in light of recent 40Ar diffraction experiments of Tosi-Pellenq and Coulomb [18,44], that the shift in pressure between the simulated and the experimental isotherms corresponds to changes in the zeolite structure accompanied with the adsorbate phase transition itself. For nitrogen, only the first of the two experimentally observed steps is reproduced in the simulation. This step corresponds to an ordering of the adsorbed phase. The fact that the second step is missing in the simulated isotherm supports the hypothesis of a distortion of the zeolite framework under the stress of the adsorbed fluid at high loading.  相似文献

This study investigated the effect of glow discharge treatment of titania surfaces on plasma protein adsorption, by means of ellipsometry and mechanically assisted SDS elution. The adsorption and film elution of three plasma proteins, viz. human serum albumin (HSA), human immunoglobulin G (IgG) and laminin-1, as well as competitive adsorption from a mixture of the three proteins, showed that the adsorbed amount of the individual proteins after 1 h increased in the order HSA <IgG <laminin-1 ≤ protein mixture. Film elutability showed that 30 min of SDS interaction resulted in almost complete removal of adsorbed films. No difference in the total adsorbed amounts of individual proteins, or from the mixture, was observed between untreated and glow discharge treated titania surfaces. However, the composition of the adsorbed films from the mixture differed between the untreated and glow discharge treated substrata. On glow discharge-treated titania the fraction of HSA increased, the fraction of laminin-1 decreased and the fraction of IgG was unchanged compared to the adsorption on the untreated titania, which was attributed to protein–protein interactions and competitive/associative adsorption behaviour.  相似文献

The adsorption of iron(III) onto hydrous manganese dioxide was studied in the model water of Lake Tjeukemeer, The Netherlands, as a function of pH under the condition where no precipitation of iron(III) hydroxide occurs.Adsorption isotherms obtained in the pH range 3.5–5.0, fitted the Langmuir equation. Langmuir constants were strongly pH-dependent and increased with an increase in pH.Especially, the value for the conditional adsorption binding constant for iron(III), log B, was relatively high compared to that for copper in natural water. The extent of iron(III) adsorbed was more affected by the surface loading at lower pH. According to the Kurbatov plot, the average number of protons released to solution per mole of iron(III) adsorbed was estimated to be 2.2.  相似文献

Adsorption isotherms for various saturated phosphatidylcholines have been obtained. Lipids above and below their phase transition temperature differ only in the amount of water adsorbed and not in the nature of their adsorption isotherms. Cholesterol has an effect similar to that of increasing unsaturation in the hydrocarbon chains. Decreasing the length of the hydrocarbon chains for lipids below their phase transition temperature has no effect on the isotherms. If the chain length is short enough so that the lipids are above their transition temperature, however, a large increase in water adsorption occurs. All of the phospholipids exhibit a rapid increase of electrical conductivity for a few water molecules adsorbed per lipid molecule. All of the phospholipids show a saturation in conductivity at greater amounts of adsorbed water; the shape of the saturation region depends on whether the lipids are above or below their phase transition temperature. The activation energy for the electrical conductivity process depends on whether the hydrated lipids are in the "liquid-like" of the crystalline state, being lower for phospholipids in the liquid-like state. If the lipids are hydrated above their phase transition temperatures, their activation energies are lower than if they are hydrated below the transition temperature. Cholesterol lowers the activation energy. The phosphatidylcholines can be characterized by different activation energies, depending both upon their physical state and the presence of unsaturation in their hydrocarbon chains.  相似文献

A method for studying the behavior of viruses on surfaces has been developed and is illustrated by determining the temperatures that inactivate adsorbed viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV) and the concentration of 1-propanol that disinfected surfaces with adsorbed VHSV and chum salmon virus (CSV). VHSV is a rhabdovirus; CSV, a reovirus, and they were detected with two fish cell lines, EPC and CHSE-214, respectively. When polystyrene tissue culture surfaces were incubated with virus, rinsed, and left to dry, they still supported the attachment and spreading of cell lines and after 7 days these cells showed the characteristic CPE of the viruses. Thus cells appeared to be infected directly from surfaces on which viruses had been adsorbed. Applying this property to 96-well plates allowed duplicate surfaces to be examined for their infectiousness or support of CPE. For each treatment 80 replicate surfaces in a 96-well plate were tested at one time and the results expressed as the number of wells showing CPE. VHSV adsorbed to polystyrene was inactivated by drying in the dark at temperatures above 14 °C, but remained infectious for at least 15 days of drying at 4 °C. For chemical sterilization of polystyrene surfaces with adsorbed virus, disinfection was achieved with 1-propanol at 40% for VHSV and at 60% for CSV. As CPE can be conveniently monitored in 96-well plates with a fluorescence plate reader, this method can be used to rapidly evaluate a variety of treatments for their ability to inactivate surface-bound viruses.  相似文献

Adsorption isotherms of BSA at the solid-water interfaces have been studied as a function of protein concentration, ionic strength of the medium, pH and temperature using silica, barium sulphate, carbon, alumina, chromium, ion-exchange resins and sephadex as solid interfaces. In most cases, isotherms for adsorption of BSA attained the state of adsorption saturation. In the presence of barium sulphate, carbon and alumina, two types in the isotherms are observed. Adsorption of BSA is affected by change in pH, ionic strength and temperature of the medium. In the presence of metallic chromium, adsorbed BSA molecules are either denatured or negatively adsorbed at the metallic interface. Due to the presence of pores in ion-exchange resins, adsorption of BSA is followed by preferential hydration on resin surfaces in some cases. Sometimes two steps of isotherms are also observed during adsorption of BSA on the solid resins in chloride form. Adsorption of BSA, beta-lactoglobulin, gelatin, myosin and lysozyme is negative on Sephadex surface due to the excess adsorption of water by Sephadex. The negative adsorption is significantly affected in the presence of CaCl2, KSCN, LiCl, Na2SO4, NaI, KCl and urea. The values of absolute amounts of water and protein, simultaneously adsorbed on the surface of different solids, have been evaluated in some cases on critical thermodynamic analysis. The standard free energies (delta G0) of excess positive and negative adsorption of the protein per square meter at the state of monolayer saturation have been calculated using proposed universal scale of thermodynamics. The free energy of adsorption with reference to this state is shown to be strictly comparable to each other. The magnitude of standard free energy of transfer (delta G0B) of one mole of protein or a protein mixture at any type of physiochemical condition and at any type of surface is observed to be 38.5 kJ/mole.  相似文献

Conformational characteristics and the adsorption behavior of endo-beta-1,3-glucanase from the hyperthermophilic microorganism Pyrococcus furiosus were studied by circular dichroism, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, and calorimetry in solution and in the adsorbed state. The adsorption isotherms were determined on two types of surfaces: hydrophobic Teflon and hydrophilic silica particles were specially designed so that they do not interact with light and therefore do not interfere with spectroscopic measurements. We present the most straightforward method to study structural features of adsorbed macromolecules in situ using common spectroscopic techniques. The enzyme was irreversibly adsorbed and immobilized in the adsorbed state even at high temperatures. Adsorption offered further stabilization to the heat-stable enzyme and in the case of adsorption on Teflon its denaturation temperature was measured at 133 degrees C, i.e., the highest experimentally determined for a protein. The maintenance of the active conformation and biological function particularly at high temperatures is important for applications in biocatalysis and biotechnology. With this study we also suggest that nature may employ adsorption as a complementary mode to maintain structural integrity of essential biomolecules at extreme conditions of temperature.  相似文献

The adsorption of the major tar compound, 2,5-xylenol, derived from the plant cell cultures of Taxus chinensis, onto activated carbon was examined at different initial 2,5-xylenol concentrations, durations, and temperatures. From the analysis of adsorption isotherms, the Langmuir isotherm model showed good fit to the equilibrium adsorption data. It was found that adsorption capacity decreased with increasing temperature, and the adsorption of 2,5-xylenol onto activated carbon was favorable. The obtained kinetic data for 2,5-xylenol adsorption with activated carbon agreed well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. By using intraparticle diffusion model, intraparticle diffusion and boundary layer diffusion did not play a dominant role in 2,5-xylenol adsorption. Thermodynamic parameters were calculated, which indicated that the adsorption was non-spontaneous, irreversible and exothermic nature. The isosteric heat of adsorption decreased with increase in surface loading, indicating a heterogeneous surface.  相似文献

Exposure to nitrogen–oxygen mixture at high pressure induces narcosis, which can be considered as a first step toward general anaesthesia. Narcotic potencies of inert gases are attributed to their lipid solubility. Nitrogen narcosis induces cognitive and motor disturbances that occur from 0.3 MPa in man and from 1 MPa in rats. Neurochemical studies performed in rats up to 3 MPa have shown that nitrogen pressure decreases striatal dopamine release like argon, another inert gas, or nitrous oxide, an anaesthetic gas. Striatal dopamine release is under glutamatergic and other amino acid neurotransmission regulations. The aim of this work was to study the effects of nitrogen at 3 MPa on striatal amino acid levels and to compare to those of 3 MPa of helium which is not narcotic at this pressure, by using a new technique of microdialysis samples extraction under hyperbaric conditions, in freely moving rats. Amino acids were analysed by HPLC coupled to fluorimetric detection in order to appreciate glutamate, aspartate, glutamine and asparagine levels. Nitrogen–oxygen mixture exposure at 3 MPa decreased glutamate, glutamine and asparagine concentrations. In contrast, with helium–oxygen mixture, glutamate and aspartate levels were increased during the compression phase but not during the stay at maximal pressure. Comparison between nitrogen and helium highlighted the narcotic effects of nitrogen at pressure. As a matter of fact, nitrogen induces a reduction in glutamate and in other amino acids that could partly explain the decrease in striatal dopamine level as well as the motor and cognitive disturbances reported in nitrogen narcosis.  相似文献

Adsorption of Agrobacterium tumefaciens cells to potato tuber disks reached equilibrium after coincubation for about 30 min. More than 10% of the number of bacteria bound at equilibrium were adsorbed within 30 s. Adsorption isotherms obtained at three temperatures showed that the heat of adsorption was nearly zero.  相似文献

The photoreaction and adsorption properties on surfaces, thermal decomposition, chemical transformation, and other properties of the formamide molecule are widely used to understand the origins of the formation of biological molecules (nucleosides, amino acids, DNA, monolayers, etc.) needed for life. The titanium oxide (TiO2) surface can act both as a template on which the accumulation of adsorbed molecules like formamide occurs through the concentration effect, and as a catalytic material that lowers the activation energy needed for the formation of intermediate products. In this paper, a formamide–water solution interacting with TiO2 (anatase) surface is simulated using the molecular dynamics method. The structural, diffusion and density properties of formamide–water mixture on TiO2 are established for a wide temperature range from T = 250 K up to T = 400 K.  相似文献

The structural characteristics and the activity of a hyperthermophilic endoglucanase were investigated upon adsorption. Silica (hydrophilic) and Teflon (hydrophobic) surfaces were selected for the study. The materials were specially designed so that the interaction of the particles with light was negligible, and the enzyme conformation in the adsorbed state was monitored in situ. The adsorption isotherms were determined, and the adsorbed endoglucanase was studied using a number of spectroscopic techniques, enzymatic activity tests, and dynamic light scattering. Experiments were performed at pH values below, at, and above the isoelectric point of the enzyme. It was shown that the enzyme adsorbed on the hydrophobic surface of Teflon with higher affinity as compared to the hydrophilic silica nanoparticles. In all cases, adsorption was followed by (slight) changes in the secondary structure resulting in decreased beta-structural content. The changes were more profound upon adsorption on Teflon. The adsorbed enzyme remained active in the adsorbed state in spite of the structural changes induced when interacting with the surfaces.  相似文献

The physisorption of methane in homogeneous armchair open-ended SWBNNT triangular arrays was evaluated using grand canonical ensemble Monte Carlo simulation for tubes 11.08, 13.85, 16.62, and 19.41 ? [(8,8), (10,10), (12,12), and (14,14), respectively] in diameter, at temperatures of 273, 298, 323, and 373 K, and at fugacities of 0.5-9.0 Mpa. The intermolecular forces were modeled using the Lennard-Jones potential model. The absolute, excess, and delivery adsorption isotherms of methane were calculated for the various boron nitride nanotube arrays. The specific surface areas and the isosteric heats of adsorption, Q(st), were also studied, different isotherm models were fitted to the simulated adsorption data, and the model parameters were correlated. According to the results, it is possible to reach 108% and 140% of the US Department of Energy's target for CH(4) storage (180 v/v at 298 K and 35 bar) using the SWBNNT array with nanotubes 16.62 and 19.41 ? in diameter, respectively, as adsorbent. The results show that for a van der Waals gap of 3.4 ?, there is no interstitial adsorption except for arrays containing nanotubes with diameters of >15.8 ?. Multilayer adsorption starts to occur in arrays containing nanotubes with diameters of >16.62 ?, and the minimum pressure required for multilayer adsorption is 1.0 MPa. A brief comparison of the methane adsorption capacities of single-walled carbon and boron nitride nanotube arrays was also performed.  相似文献

We present a high-temperature and high-pressure gas adsorption measurement device based on a high-frequency oscillating microbalance (5 MHz langatate crystal microbalance, LCM) and its use for gas adsorption measurements in zeolite H-ZSM-5. Prior to the adsorption measurements, zeolite H-ZSM-5 crystals were synthesized on the gold electrode in the center of the LCM, without covering the connection points of the gold electrodes to the oscillator, by the steam-assisted crystallization (SAC) method, so that the zeolite crystals remain attached to the oscillating microbalance while keeping good electroconductivity of the LCM during the adsorption measurements. Compared to a conventional quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) which is limited to temperatures below 80 °C, the LCM can realize the adsorption measurements in principle at temperatures as high as 200-300 °C (i.e., at or close to the reaction temperature of the target application of one-stage DME synthesis from the synthesis gas), owing to the absence of crystalline-phase transitions up to its melting point (1,470 °C). The system was applied to investigate the adsorption of CO2, H2O, methanol and dimethyl ether (DME), each in the gas phase, on zeolite H-ZSM-5 in the temperature and pressure range of 50-150 °C and 0-18 bar, respectively. The results showed that the adsorption isotherms of these gases in H-ZSM-5 can be well fitted by Langmuir-type adsorption isotherms. Furthermore, the determined adsorption parameters, i.e., adsorption capacities, adsorption enthalpies, and adsorption entropies, compare well to literature data. In this work, the results for CO2 are shown as an example.  相似文献
