The phycobiont of all species ofLempholemma analyzed is attacked by haustoria. The haustoria of these five species ofLempholemma and of two species with unknown apothecium but with a thallus quite similar toLempholemma are described. They show distinct morphological and functional characters which allow species delimitation.

The chromosome numbers of several Greece species of the genusSilene L. from natural habitats are reported for the first time:S. sieberi, S. niederi, S. radicosa subsp.rechingeri, S. oligantha, S. skorpilii, S. schwarzenbergeri andS. fruticulosa. All species are diploid with 2n = 24 chromosomes, including 0, 2 or 4 SAT-chromosomes;S. niederi has B-chromosomes.

Five Halacarus species were found in deep sea collections of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, Massachusetts. The five species, viz. Halacarus atlanticus sp.n. H. longior sp.n. H. obtusus sp.n. H. peregrinus sp.n. and H. triunguis sp.n. are described, and discussed in terms of related species.

In this paper Some Bennettitean leaves from the Lias of Karmozd-Zirab, Northern Iran, the author describes some Ptilophyllum species from a rich assemblage of Jurassic plants, collected by him in 1960 and 1961. The species axe Ptilophyllum bengalense (Oldh.) Schimper, P. harrisianum sp.nov., P. zirabense sp. nov., andP. minor sp. nov.     

Lebensgemeinschaften koexistierender Arten der Wasserkäfergattung Hydroporus aus zwei norddeutschen Untersuchungsgebieten (Coleoptera; Dytiscidae)

The community structure of 15 species of the genus Hydroporus was investigated in various pools with the multivariate software DECORANA, TWINSPAN and CANOCO. Abiotic values measured at 22 bog pools were correlated to DECORANA-data. Typical communities in the Ohemoor (near Hamburg) are related to the factors shaddow, absorption, calcium, and sodium. Data of coexisting Hydroporus species (including other small Dytiscidae, Haliplidae, Noteridae) from 93 pools (near Seedorf/Schleswig-Holstein) could be devided into 4 typical communities (bog, wood, sand-pit, agricultural areas).
