The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of silicon (Si) on phenolic exudation of plant roots and cadmium (Cd) bioavailability in rhizospheres. For this purpose, pot experiments with two cypress varieties, Juniperus chinensis and Platycladus orientalis, each subjected to 100 mg kg?1 Cd and/or 400 mg kg?1 Si for 220 days, were conducted using a rhizobag technique. The results showed that P. orientalis accumulated a higher amount of Cd, hence caused higher growth inhibition on the leaves compared with J. chinensis. Si alleviated the growth inhibition induced by Cd toxicity on both varieties, but the mechanisms involved were species specific. For J. chinensis, Si did not affect the root exudation but enhanced the Cd retention of the roots by strengthening the exodermis tissues, restraining Cd translocation from the roots to the shoots. For P. orientalis, Si exposure significantly elevated the phenolic exudation (for example, ferulic acid, catechin, and gallic acid) of the roots, which caused greater Cd mobility in the rhizosphere and enhancement of Cd accumulation in the shoots compared with Cd treatment alone. These results suggest that Cd-chelating with the Si-induced phenolics in the rhizosphere is involved in the Cd detoxification in P. orientalis.  相似文献

Two ornamental plants of Althaea rosea Cav. and Malva crispa L. were exposed to various concentrations of lead (Pb) (0, 50, 100, 200 and 500 mg·kg?1) for 70 days to evaluate the accumulating potential and the tolerance characteristics. The results showed that both plant species grown normally under Pb stress, and A. rosea had a higher tolerance than M. crispa, while M. crispa had a higher ability in Pb accumulation than A. rosea. Besides, lower Pb concentration (50 mg·kg?1) stimulated the shoot biomass in both plant species. Pb accumulation in plants was consistent with the increase of Pb levels, and the main accumulation sites were the roots and the older leaves. In addition, the photosynthetic pigments content and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters were influenced by Pb stress. In such case, both of the plants could improve the activities of antioxidant enzymes of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX), and the contents of the total soluble sugar and soluble protein, which reached the highest value at Pb 100 mg·kg?1, as well as the accumulation of the total thiols (T-SH) and non-protein thiols (NP-SH) to adapt to Pb stress. Thus, it provides the theoretical basis and possibility for ornamental plants of A. rosea and M. crispa in phytoremediation of Pb contaminated areas.  相似文献

Heavy metal accumulation due to environmental pollution, especially in agricultural ecosystem can cause serious deterioration of crop yield and quality. In present study we assessed the effect of exogenous 28-homobrassinoloid (HBL; 10?8 M) on growth, photosynthesis, indices of chlorophyll a fluorescence and nitrogen metabolism in Solanum lycopersicum seedlings grown under two doses (Cd1: 3 mg kg?1 sand and Cd2: 9 mg kg?1 sand) of cadmium. Accumulation of Cd in root tissues was considerably higher than shoot hence, Cd declined the growth, pigment contents, and photosynthetic O2 yield in its concentration dependent manner. Chlorophyll a fluorescence due to Cd stress was negatively affected as shown by decreased QA ? reoxidation kinetics: φP0, ψ0, φE0 and PI_ABS and increased energy flux parameters: ABS/RC, TR0/RC, ET0/RC and DI0/RC. HBL application under Cd stress improved the photochemistry of photosystem II (PS II) by affecting these parameters positively. Treatment of Cd in test seedlings resulted into significant decrease in nitrate reductase, nitrite reductase, glutamine synthetase and glutamate synthase activities, and induced enhancing effect on ammonium content and glutamate dehydrogenase activity. Exogenous HBL treatment alleviated the negative effect of Cd on growth, photosynthesis, contents of protein, carbohydrate and inorganic nitrogen and nitrogen assimilating enzymes. The data indicate that exogenous HBL protects the test seedlings during the early growth phase against Cd phytotoxicity by regulating Cd accumulation in tissues and two key metabolic processes; photosynthesis and nitrogen metabolism.  相似文献

This study reports for the first time the extraction and quantification of sterols in six species of brown macroalgae from Antarctica: Adenocystis utricularis, Ascoseira mirabilis, Cystosphaera jacquinotii, Desmarestia anceps, Desmarestia antarctica, and Himantothallus grandifolius. Ultrasound irradiation was used as a promotor to extract sterols from algal biomass. The extracts were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for sterol quantization (ergosterol, brassicasterol, fucosterol, β-sitosterol, campesterol, cholesterol, and stigmasterol). In general, fucosterol was the most abundant (6.60 to 48.13 mg kg?1), followed by β-sitosterol (5.29 to 16.49 mg kg?1), stigmasterol (2.69 to 14.84 mg kg?1) in five of the six examined algae. The sterol campesterol was found in lower concentrations (0.07 to 0.15 mg kg?1) in all studied samples.  相似文献

To ultimately determine whether different levels of soil nitrogen (N) deposition can modify the detrimental effects of cadmium (Cd), the seedlings of Toxicodendron vernicifluum (Strokes) F. A. Barkley were exposed to soil Cd stress (0, 5 and 15 mg kg?1 dry soil), N deposition (0, 13 and 40 mg kg?1 dry soil) and their combinations. Soil Cd stress caused damage in plant growth, photosynthesis and other physiological indexes, and in the ultrastructure of mesophyll cells. The effects of N deposition on growth, lipid peroxidation and enzyme activities depended on the relative amounts of N supplied. The combination of low N deposition and Cd stress was positive to plant growth, photosynthesis and enzyme activities, and it caused lower levels of Cd accumulation and lipid peroxidation compared with the effect of Cd stress alone. The combination of high N deposition and Cd stress led to a higher Cd accumulation and lipid peroxidation, and to lower enzyme activities, as compared with the effect of Cd stress alone. T. vernicifluum was found to be sensitive to soil Cd stress. Soil Cd had detrimental effects on T. vernicifluum seedlings, but the tolerance of T. vernicifluum to Cd increased under low N deposition.  相似文献

The effects of a bioinsecticide formulation based on extract of Annona squamosa L. (Annonaceae) containing 10,000 mg L?1 of acetogenin annonin as the main active ingredient were investigated against three primary pest species of stored grains in Brazil [maize weevil Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), Mexican bean weevil Zabrotes subfasciatus (Boheman) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae), and cowpea weevil Callosobruchus maculatus (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae)] by means of residual contact bioassays. In a concentration-dependent manner, the annonin-based commercial bioinsecticide caused significant adult mortality of C. maculatus (LC50 = 6890 μL kg?1), S. zeamais (LC50 = 2781 μL kg?1), and Z. subfasciatus (LC50 = 2120 μL kg?1) after 120 h of residual contact exposure. In addition to acute toxicity, the tested bioinsecticide also promoted a significant reduction of the number of eggs laid by females of C. maculatus (EC50 = 5949.7 μL kg?1) and Z. subfasciatus (EC50 = 552.7 μL kg?1). Moreover, the bioinsecticide significantly reduced the number of emerged insects (F1 generation) of C. maculatus (EC50 = 2763.0 μL kg?1), S. zeamais (EC50 = 1380.8 μL kg?1), and Z. subfasciatus (EC50 = 561.5 μL kg?1). The bioinsecticide also reduced the percentage of damaged grains for the three pest species studied, and its grain-protectant properties are comparable to or superior in efficacy in relation to a diatomaceous earth-based insecticide (Insecto® at 1000 mg kg?1) used as a positive control. Thus, this standardized formulation has promising bioactivity against stored insect species and can be a useful component for IPM of stored grains in Brazil and elsewhere.  相似文献

Phycobiliproteins, light-harvesting pigments found in cyanobacteria and in some eukaryotic algae, have numerous commercial applications in food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. Colorant production from cyanobacteria offers advantages over their production from higher plants, as cyanobacteria have fast growth rate and high photosynthetic efficiency and require less space. In this study, three cyanobacteria strains were studied for phycobiliprotein production and the influence of sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate and ammonium chloride on the growth and phycobiliprotein composition of the strains were evaluated. In the batch culture period of 12 days, Phormidium sp. and Pseudoscillatoria sp. were able to utilize all tested nitrogen sources; however, ammonium chloride was the best nitrogen source for both strains to achieve maximum growth rate μ?=?0.284?±?0.03 and μ?=?0.274?±?0.13 day?1, chlorophyll a 16.2?±? 0.5 and 12.2?±? 0.2 mg L?1, and phycobiliprotein contents 19.38?±?0.09 and 19.99?±?0.14% of dry weight, whereas, for Arthrospira platensis, the highest growth rate of μ?=?0.304?±?0.0 day?1, chlorophyll a 19.1?±?0.5 mg L?1, and phycobiliprotein content of 22.27?±?0.21% of dry weight were achieved with sodium nitrate. The phycocyanin from the lyophilized cyanobacterial biomass was extracted using calcium chloride and food grade purity (A620/A280 ratio >?0.7) was achieved. Furthermore, phycocyanin was purified using two-step chromatographic method and the analytical grade purity (A620/A280 ratio >?4) was attained. SDS-PAGE demonstrated the purity and presence of two bands corresponding to α- and β-subunits of the C-phycocyanin. The results showed that Phormidium sp. and Pseudoscillatoria sp. could be good candidates for phycocyanin production.  相似文献

Phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers represent a source of cadmium (Cd) which may be leached into aquatic systems. Macrophytes accumulate contaminants, and Egeria densa has been shown to grow in aquatic environments polluted with trace elements. In this study, Cd accumulation by E. densa exposed to two Cd treatments (3 and 5 mg L?1) was evaluated under increasing nutrient levels (NP as N–NO3 ?, N–NH4 +, and P–PO4 3?, in concentrations 5-, 10- and 100-fold higher (NP5, NP10 and NP100) than in the sampling site) to simulate different levels of eutrophication. Bioaccumulation factors and Cd recovery were calculated and effects on plants were evaluated based on chloroplastidic pigment concentrations (chlorophylls a and b, and carotenoids). We conclude that Cd accumulation by Egeria densa is positively influenced by increasing availability of N and P at the level of around NP10 and probably at a broader concentration range not defined in this study. A further increase in N and P, however, does not generate a significant increase in Cd accumulation. Chloroplastidic pigment concentrations were not linearly correlated with Cd accumulation and the NP10 experiment produced less damage to macrophyte when compared to NP5 and NP100 experiments. Under controlled conditions, it was possible to satisfactorily model Cd bioaccumulation over time, in order to provide essential data for E. densa use in phytoremediation processes. The Cd residence in the macrophyte tissue is increased in eutrophic environments, which puts at risk the whole food chain of the aquatic ecosystem, mainly the primary consumers.  相似文献

Metal pollution can produce many biological effects on aquatic environments. The marine diatom Amphora subtropica and the green alga Dunaliella sp. possess a high metal absorption capacity. Nickel (Ni) removal by living cells of A. subtropica and Dunaliella sp. was tested in cultures exposed to different Ni concentrations (100, 200, 300, and 500 mg L?1). The amount of Ni removed by the microalgae increased with the time of exposure and the initial Ni concentration in the medium. The metal, which was mainly removed by bioadsorption to Dunaliella sp. cell surfaces (93.63% of total Ni (for 500 mg Ni L?1) and by bioaccumulation (80.82% of total Ni (for 300 mg Ni L?1) into Amphora subtropica cells, also inhibited growth. Exposure to Ni drastically reduced the carbohydrate and protein concentrations and increased total lipids from 6.3 to 43.1 pg cell?1, phenolics 0.092 to 0.257 mg GAE g?1 (Fw), and carotenoid content, from 0.08 to 0.59 mg g?1 (Fw), in A. subtropica. In Dunaliella sp., total lipids increased from 26.1 to 65.3 pg cell?1, phenolics from 0.084 to 0.289 mg GAE g?1 (Fw), and carotenoid content from 0.41 to 0.97 mg g?1 (Fw). These compounds had an important role in protecting the algae against ROS generated by Ni. In order to cope with Ni stress shown by the increase of TBARS level, enzymatic (SOD, CAT, and GPx) ROS scavenging mechanisms were induced.  相似文献

A recombinant alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) from Kangiella koreensis was purified as a 40 kDa dimer with a specific activity of 21.3 nmol min?1 mg?1, a K m of 1.8 μM, and a k cat of 1.7 min?1 for all-trans-retinal using NADH as cofactor. The enzyme showed activity for all-trans-retinol using NAD + as a cofactor. The reaction conditions for all-trans-retinol production were optimal at pH 6.5 and 60 °C, 2 g enzyme l?1, and 2,200 mg all-trans-retinal l?1 in the presence of 5 % (v/v) methanol, 1 % (w/v) hydroquinone, and 10 mM NADH. Under optimized conditions, the ADH produced 600 mg all-trans-retinol l?1 after 3 h, with a conversion yield of 27.3 % (w/w) and a productivity of 200 mg l?1 h?1. This is the first report of the characterization of a bacterial ADH for all-trans-retinal and the biotechnological production of all-trans-retinol using ADH.  相似文献

Shoot tip explants of Phyllanthus amarus were cocultivated with Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain LBA 4404 carrying plasmid pCAMBIA 2301 harbouring genes coding for betaglucuronidase (gus), kanamycin (kan), and neomycin phosphotransferase II (nptII) along with a gene coding for Linum usitatissimum PINORESINOL LARICIRESINOL REDUCTASE (Lu-PLR). Transformed shoot tip explants were maintained in a Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing TDZ 1.54 mg l?1, kan 50 mg l?1 and cephotaxime 62.5 mg l?1. The optimum medium for regeneration of multiple shoots was MS supplemented with TDZ 1.54 mg l?1, kan 50 mg l?1. Efficient and effective rooting of plantlets was achieved by culturing the in vitro regenerated shoots on liquid ½ MS medium containing 0.7 mg l?1 indole 3-butyric acid (IBA) and 5 mg l?1 kan. Rooted plants were acclimatized in the mixtures of vermiculite and soil. The transformation of kan-resistant plantlets regenerated from shoot-tip explants was confirmed by GUS and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis. Southern blot and reverse transcribed PCR (RT-PCR) analysis confirmed successful integration and expression of Lu-PLR gene. Quantitative analysis of phyllanthin performed on transgenic and wild plants using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) revealed that transgenic lines contained higher phyllanthin content (0.3–0.81% w/w) than wild plants (0.09% w/w). The highest yield of phyllanthin was detected in transgenic lines was up to 1.16, 1.22 and 1.23 folds higher than that of wild plant. This report highlights the transgenic approach to enhance the contents of phyllanthin and hypophyllanthin.  相似文献

The involvement of jasmonic acid (JA) in the plant response to cadmium (Cd) stress has been addressed in some publications by application experiments or analysis of endogenous contents of JA. In this study, we comparatively investigated the response of tomato wild type (WT) and its JA-deficient mutant spr2 to Cd stress aimed at clarifying the role of JA. One-month-old potted plants were exposed to CdCl2 at final concentrations of 5, 25, and 50 mg kg?1 in soil, respectively, for 15 days. The root and leaf Cd contents were dramatically increased, especially in the spr2 plants, in a CdCl2 dose-effect manner. In the Cd dose-dependent inhibitory effect on plant growth, spr2 plants were more obvious than WT plants. This was also reflected by certain physiological and biochemical metabolisms. We analyzed photosynthesis-related parameters including total chlorophyll, actual efficiency of PS2, ratio of variable to maximum chlorophyll fluorescence, and net photosynthetic rate; relative water content, soluble sugar and proline contents, and starch accumulation; oxidative stress and antioxidative defense including malondialdehyde production, electrolyte leakage, H2O2 levels, activities of superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and catalase, and their isoform expression profiles. The Cd-induced changes in all these parameters supported the conclusion that endogenous JA deficiency enhanced tomato seedling sensitivity to Cd. This implies that JA positively regulates the tomato plant response to Cd stress.  相似文献

The filamentous Cyanobacterium Arthrospira is commercially produced and is a functional, high-value, health food. We identified 5 low temperature and low light intensity tolerant strains of Arthrospira sp. (GMPA1, GMPA7, GMPB1, GMPC1, and GMPC3) using ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis and low temperature screening. The 5 Arthrospira strains grew rapidly below 14?°C, 43.75 μmol photons m?2 s?1 and performed breed conservation at 2.5?°C, 8.75 μmol photons m?2 s?1. We used morphological identification and molecular genetic analysis to identify GMPA1, GMPA7, GMPB1 and GMPC1 as Arthrospira platensis, while GMPC3 was identified as Arthrospira maxima. Growth at different culture temperatures was determined at regular intervals using dry biomass. At 16?°C and 43.75 μmol photons m?2 s?1, the maximum dry biomass production and the mean dry biomass productivity of GMPA1, GMPB1, and GMPC1 were 2057?±?80 mg l?1, 68.7?±?2.5 mg l?1 day?1, 1839?±?44 mg l?1, 60.6?±?1.8 mg l?1 day?1, and 2113?±?64 mg l?1, 77.7?±?2.5 mg l?1 day?1 respectively. GMPB1 was chosen for additional low temperature tolerance studies and growth temperature preference. In winter, GMPB1 grew well at mean temperatures <10?°C, achieving 3258 mg dry biomass from a starting 68 mg. In summer, GMPB1 grew rapidly at mean temperatures more than 28?°C, achieving 1140 mg l?1 dry biomass from a starting 240 mg. Phytonutrient analysis of GMPB1 showed high levels of C-phycocyanin and carotenoids. Arthrospira metabolism relates to terpenoids, and the methyl-d-erythritol 4-phosphate pathway is the only terpenoid biosynthetic pathway in Cyanobacteria. The 1-deoxy-d-xylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerase (DXR) gene from GMPB1 was cloned and phylogenetic analysis showed that GMPB1 is closest to the Cyanobacterium Oscillatoria nigro-viridis PCC711. Low temperature tolerant Arthrospira strains could broaden the areas suitable for cultivation, extend the seasonal cultivation time, and lower production costs.  相似文献

Invasive fungal infection is a serious complication following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Pulmonary infection due to Hormographiella aspergillata is an uncommon condition associated with a high mortality rate. The susceptibility of H. aspergillata to available antifungal agents is not well established. We report for the first time a case of H. aspergillata lung infection that responded poorly to conventional treatment with liposomal amphotericin B (LAmB; 3 mg kg?1 of body weight per day) with renal damage at higher posology (5 mg kg?1 of body weight per day), but improved rapidly after addition of nebulized LAmB to intravenous LAmB (3 mg kg?1 of body weight per day). Successful treatment of our patient using nebulized LAmB would be worth evaluating in cases refractory to standard treatment or when the reference treatment may not be extended due to interaction or side effects.  相似文献

Dermacentor nitens tick is commonly found in the equine auditory canal, where it causes economic losses due to its direct damage, causing blood spoliation, stress, transmission of pathogens, and predisposition to myasis and secondary bacterial infection in its hosts. In this study we evaluated the effect of ethanolic extracts of Cerrado plants on biological parameters of engorged females of D. nitens. Ethanolic extracts were prepared from the leaves of Schinopsis brasiliensis, Piptadenia viridiflora, Ximenia americana, and Serjania lethalis at 25–150 mg mL?1. Groups of 10 engorged adult females were treated with these extracts and compared with a control containing distilled water and another control with organophosphate, using five replicates for each group. Compared with the control with water, S. lethalis and X. americana extracts at 100 and 150 mg mL?1 significantly inhibited the posture ability. Differently, extracts of S. brasiliensis and P. viridiflora were the most effective in inhibiting larval hatching. Extracts of X. americana and P. viridiflora showed effective inhibition of reproductive parameters of the tick, presenting dose-dependent effect with IC90 78.86 and 78.94 mg mL?1, respectively. Theses effective extracts contained low condensed tannin levels and their HPLC chromatograms revealed the presence of flavonoids. The efficacies of P. viridiflora and X. americana extracts were higher than 90% indicating that these extracts are promising as alternative agents for D. nitens control.  相似文献

An in vitro organogenesis protocol for Carissa carandas L. was developed using an auxin transport inhibitor (quercetin) and silver nitrate (AgNO3), an inhibitor of ethylene action, in association with cytokinins in the culture medium. This protocol produced the maximum number of shoots from aseptic seedling-derived shoot apex explants of C. carandas. The highest rate of shoot multiplication was recorded on MS medium containing 2.0 mg L?1 6-benzylaminopurine; 0.5 mg L?1 kinetin, and 0.75 mg L?1 quercetin at after 4 wk of culture. Similar results were obtained when MS medium fortified with 2.0 mg L?1 BAP, 0.5 mg L?1 kinetin, and 1.5 mg L?1 AgNO3 was used. However, successful rooting was achieved on quarter strength MS medium with 0.5 mg L?1 indole-3-acetic acid. In this study, an inhibitor of auxin transport and ethylene action maximized shoot multiplication in medium fortified with cytokinins. The established rapid micropropagation method could be used to conserve elite genotypes of C. carandas.  相似文献

Pistachio is a tree of the arid and semi-arid regions where salinity and boron (B) toxicity can be major environmental stresses. In this study, individual and combined effects of different concentrations of NaCl (0, 800, 1600, 2400 and 3200 mg kg?1 soil) and B (0, 2.5, 5.0, 10.0 and 20.0 mg kg?1 soil) were studied on growth, gas-exchange and mineral composition of pistachio seedlings for a duration of 120 days. Excess amounts of salinity (> 1600 mg NaCl kg?1 soil) and B (20.0 mg kg?1 soil) significantly reduced the plant growth and CO2 assimilation, which was associated with accumulation of Na, Cl and B in leaves. There was also a decline in cell membrane stability index (MSI). Reduced stomatal conductance (g s) was the primary cause of inhibition of photosynthesis rate (P N) under mild to moderate salinity. However, under severe salt stress and B toxicity, non-stomatal effects contributed to the inhibition of CO2 assimilation in addition to the decline in g s value. Application of 5.0–10.0 mg B kg?1 soil significantly improved the plant growth and P N and also recovered the MSI as countermeasures against salt stress. These observations were related to the role of B in cell membrane structure and functioning which reduced the concentration of toxic ions in the leaves. However, cell membrane damages and chlorophyll loss in plants affected by salt were observed to be exacerbated when excess amounts of B were present. In conclusion, the results revealed that optimizing the B nutrition can improve the performance of pistachio seedlings under salt stress, and NaCl also showed a mitigating effect on B toxicity if its concentration in the soil is kept under the plant salt tolerance threshold.  相似文献

Fish anaesthesia is used to minimize handling stress and damage during harvesting, transportation, and surgical procedures. Through depression of cardiovascular and respiratory functions, it causes significant changes in blood gases and pH. Here, we present the effects of benzocaine (100 mg l?1), MS-222 (100 mg l?1), and Aqui-S (30 mg l?1) on blood gases and haematological parameters of commercial-sized (≈1 kg) striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) and the time course of recovery. Blood was taken through a dorsal aorta catheter immediately after catheterization, and regularly during the following 72 h recovery in aerated water. All anaesthetics caused increases in PCO2 and lactate resulting in a decrease in pHe, closely mirrored by RBC pHi, as well as a marked rise in Hct, associated with elevated [cortisol] and [glucose] and increased RBC counts but no change in RBC volume, as confirmed by the lack of an adrenergic response of RBC in vitro. All anaesthetics showed similar efficacy and blood parameters were normalized within 24 to 48 h.  相似文献

Acetaldehyde strongly binds to the wine preservative SO2 and, on average, causes 50–70 mg l?1 of bound SO2 in red and white wines, respectively. Therefore, a reduction of bound and total SO2 concentrations necessitates knowledge of the factors that affect final acetaldehyde concentrations in wines. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the acetaldehyde production and degradation kinetics of 26 yeast strains of oenological relevance during alcoholic fermentation in must under controlled anaerobic conditions. Saccharomyces cerevisiae and non-Saccharomyces strains displayed similar metabolic kinetics where acetaldehyde reached an initial peak value at the beginning of fermentations followed by partial reutilization. Quantitatively, the range of values obtained for non-Saccharomyces strains greatly exceeded the variability among the S. cerevisiae strains tested. Non-Saccharomyces strains of the species C. vini, H. anomala, H. uvarum, and M. pulcherrima led to low acetaldehyde residues (<10 mg l?1), while C. stellata, Z. bailii, and, especially, a S. pombe strain led to large residues (24–48 mg l?1). Acetaldehyde residues in S. cerevisiae cultures were intermediate and less dispersed (14–34 mg l?1). Addition of SO2 to Chardonnay must triggered significant increases in acetaldehyde formation and residual acetaldehyde. On average, 0.33 mg of residual acetaldehyde remained per mg of SO2 added to must, corresponding to an increase of 0.47 mg of bound SO2 per mg of SO2 added. This research demonstrates that certain non-Saccharomyces strains display acetaldehyde kinetics that would be suitable to reduce residual acetaldehyde, and hence, bound-SO2 levels in grape wines. The acetaldehyde formation potential may be included as strain selection argument in view of reducing preservative SO2 concentrations.  相似文献
