Saturnius papernai Overstreet, 1977 is recorded from the stomach of Mugil cephalus L. (Osteichthyes, Mugilidae) in the Black Sea (a new geographical record) off the southern part of the Bulgarian coast. The species is redescribed and figured on the basis of the Black Sea specimens. Some amendments to the generic diagnosis are proposed concerning the presence of a uterine seminal receptacle and a posterior (third) circular flange. It is proposed that the occurrence of S. papernai is a feature of one of the three shoals of M. cephalus in the Black Sea, i.e. the Balkan shoal. In a zoogeographical analysis, S. papernai is regarded as a Mediterranean immigrant, probably a characteristic element of only the South-Western Faunistic Region of the Black Sea. A review of the genus Saturnius Manter, 1969 is presented.  相似文献

Phyllobothrium squali Yamaguti, 1952 is redescribed and illustrated on the basis of the holotype from Squalus acanthias from Japanese waters and specimens from the same host off the Bulgarian Black Sea coast (new geographical record). The species is characterised by: a scolex diameter of 2.9-4.3 mm, a glandular apical organ, foliose bothridia with folded and posteriorly bifid margins, accessory suckers of 286-367 micro m in diameter, 222-373 testes per proglottis, an oval cirrus-sac with a length of 354-655 micro m, the vagina opening anteriorly to the cirrus-sac, and the terminal part of vagina with a circular musculature. Specimens from Etmopterus spinax off Naples, Mediterranean Sea, recorded by Euzet (1959) as Crossobothrium squali, are redescribed and their identification not confirmed. P. squali is recognised as a specific parasite of S. acanthias; it is presently known only from Japanese waters, the Black Sea and the Irish Sea. Changes to the generic diagnosis of Phyllobothrium, as given by Ruhnke (1996a), are proposed in order to include the characters of P. squali.  相似文献

Three species of the bunocotyline genus Saturnius Manter, 1969 are described from the stomach lining of mugilid fishes of the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Two of the species are new: S. minutus n. sp. occurs in Mugil cephalus off the Mediterranean coast of Spain; and S. dimitrovi n. sp., a parasite of M. cephalus off the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and the Spanish Mediterranean coast, was originally described as S. papernai by Dimitrov et al. (1998). In addition, S. papernai Overstreet, 1977 is redescribed from M. cephalus off the Spanish Mediterranean coast and from Liza aurata and L. saliens off the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The three species are distinguished morphometrically using univariate and multivariate analyses. These results were verified using Linear Discriminant Analysis which correctly allocated all specimens to their species designations based on morphology (i.e. 100% successful classification rate) and assigned almost all specimens to the correct population (locality). The following variables were selected for optimal separation between samples: the length of the forebody, ventral sucker and posterior testis, the length and width of the posteriormost pseudosegment, and the width of the muscular flange at ventral sucker level.  相似文献

A new species of Delamarella Chappuis, 1954 (Copepoda, Harpacticoida, Latiremidae), D. obscura sp. nov. , is described from sandy beaches along the western Black Sea coast of Turkey, using both light and scanning electron microscopy. Additional morphological observations of the closely related D. galateae Cottarelli, 1971 are presented, based on topotype material from Sardinia and newly collected specimens from mainland Italy. Previous records of D. karamani Petkovski, 1957 from the Bulgarian Black Sea coast are based on misidentifications and should be attributed to D. obscura sp. nov. All three species are morphologically similar, and criteria based on meristic and ornamentation characters are provided to distinguish them. Examination of copepodid V ♂ intermoult stages provided new insights into the morphology of the highly transformed P4 exopod of the adult male and its homology with reference to the female. A reassessment of the generic distinctiveness of Delamarella and the monotypic genus Latiremus Božić, 1969 revealed that morphological criteria, traditionally employed to separate both genera, are all essentially unsound and based on erroneous reports in the literature. Consequently, Latiremus is relegated to a junior synonym of the type genus, leaving Delamarella and Arbutifera Huys & Kunz, 1988 as the only remaining valid genera in the family.  © 2005 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society , 2005, 145 , 263–281.  相似文献

Aphanurus stossichii (Monticelli, 1891) is redescribed from Boops boops (L.) from various localities in the NE Atlantic region (off Spain), the Mediterranean (off Spain and Turkey) and the Black Sea (off Bulgaria). The material from the Atlantic coast of Spain showed differences in egg-size and shape and a characteristic ornamentation of the anterior third of the hermaphroditic duct. A comparison with samples from B. boops collected off Antalya (Turkey) and off the Bulgarian Black Sea coast revealed a considerable size variation and confirmed the presence of tubercles in the terminal part of the hermaphroditic duct. A. virgula Looss, 1907, previously considered a synonym of A. stossichii, is redescribed on the basis of voucher material from Engraulis encrasicolus ponticus Alexandrov collected off the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and previously identified as A. stossichii. A. virgula can be distinguished from A. stossichii by its smaller size and substantially lower range limits for all metrical features, the more posterior position of the base of sinus-sac, and the eggs being less numerous and larger in relation to the size of the body and gonads.  相似文献

A new pennatulacean species, Crassophyllum thessalonicae sp.n. is described from the Mediterranean (North Aegean Sea). This is the first record of a Crassophyllum Tixier-Duri vault, 1961 species from the Mediterranean Sea. The differences between the new species and C. cristatum Tixier-Durivault, 1961, the other known species of the genus, are discussed, and the genus Crassophyllum is critically compared with the other two related genera Pteroeides Herklots, 1858 and Sarcoptilus Gray, 1848.  相似文献

The fossil history of worm lizards in Eastern Europe is very patchy because of the small number of localities and the fragmentary vertebral material available. A new record of the genus Blanus from the late Miocene of the Egorovka 1 and 2 localities in Ukraine is reported here. Based on its dental morphology, Blanus from Egorovka differs from all extinct species of the genus and from the extant B. cinereus complex. It is most closely related to the Eastern clade of Blanus (B. strauchi complex) in having enlarged second and small third dentary teeth. Blanus from Egorovka is the second fossil record of the B. strauchi complex and the first record of the Eastern clade outside of its current geographical range. It indicates a wider past range of the Eastern European Blanus, including the northern Black Sea coastal area.  相似文献

Malatesta  T.  Frati  R.  Cerioni  S.  Agrimi  U.  Di Guardo  G. 《Systematic parasitology》1998,40(1):63-66
Detailed parasitological investigations were carried out on the stomach and the intestine of a young male Balaenoptera physalus found stranded along the east coast of the northern Tyrrhenian Sea. Thousands of digeneans were found in both the caecum and the colon. Morphological and morphometric studies were carried out on these parasites, which were identified as Ogmogaster antarcticus Johnston, 1931. In contrast to the other species of the genus, O. antarcticus has a large geographical distribution and it is not specific to its definitive hosts. This is the first record of O. antarcticus from B. physalus in the Mediterranean Sea, a finding which helps confirm the world-wide distribution of this parasite.  相似文献

Investigations of the ground water of the French Mediterranean coast gave 28 different species of harpacticoid copepods. Among them, six species are new to the French coast and three species and one form are described as new, viz. Ectinosoma mediterraneum sp.n., Sigmatidium rouchi sp.n., Ameira atlántica mediterránea forma n., and Taurocletodes gallicus sp.n. Comparison of the harpacticoid fauna of the French coast with other marine districts shows close relations to the fauna of the Black Sea, while the relations to the Atlantic coast (Portugal) and the Baltic Sea (Bay of Kiel) are only remote. A genus is established, Taurocletodes gen.n. Sigmatidium noodti sp.n. is described from the Sea of Marmara.  相似文献

A new genus and species of ground-hornbill are described from the Late Tertiary (Late Miocene) fluviative deposits in Hadzhidimovo (Hadzhidimovo-1, or Hadzhidimovo-Girizite locality), in southwestern Bulgaria. The cranial half of a scapula and the distal third of a femur have been recovered. The morphology distinguishes the specimen from the recent species of Bucorvus, the closest genus. Most interesting is the morphology of the scapula (the holotype), which differs considerably from the ground-hornbills in some structures (e.g. the clavicular joint) while being surprisingly similar in other structures (e.g. the humeral articular joint). The last peculiarity may indicate that the fossil species was a more primitive form having relatively poorer flying capacity in comparison to other ground-hornbills. This first record of Bucerotidae in Europe proves the occurrence of the family in the Tertiary of the western parts of the Eurasian continent. It came from the richest Bulgarian locality of the Hipparion fauna, from which ca. 36 species of large mammals and birds are now known.  相似文献

Larval stages of an echinostome were found in Planorbis planorbis in a brackish water lake on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. The cercaria is a large-tailed form with 19 collar spines. The life-cycle was completed in the laboratory using aquarium-reared fishes (Lebistes reticulatus, Puntius tetrazona tetrazona, P. pentazona pentazona, P. nigrofasciatus, Carassius auratus auratus and Xiphophorus helleri) as second intermediate hosts and canaries as definitive hosts. The redia, cercaria, metacercaria and experimentally reared adults are described. The species is determined as Petasiger grandivesicularis Ishii, 1935, and its cercaria is compared in detail with those of related forms. A key to the known large-tailed echinostome cercariae from the Palaearctic Region is presented.  相似文献

Kinorhynchus phyllotropis sp.n., from Sydney Harbour, is the first species of the phylum Kinorhyncha to be described from Australian coasts. It appears to be most closely related to K. anomalus (Lang, 1953) from the Chilean coast and possibly, but to a lesser extent, to K. spinosus (Lang, 1949) from the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. Kinorhynchus anomalus is rede-scribed and, along with the new species, is compared with the South Atlantic species, the two species known from the Northeast Pacific and the remaining four members of this genus from the North Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea and Black Sea. Cateria styx Gerlach, 1956, is reported from beaches north of Valparaiso, Chile, the first report of this mesopsarnmic cryptorhagid kinorhynch from the Pacific Ocean.  相似文献

A species of Pseudo-nitzschia isolated from Sevastopol Bay, Black Sea, was examined for its toxicity. The species was identified as P. calliantha Lundholm, Moestrup et Hasle based on SEM and TEM examination. Domoic acid (DA) was detected in batch culture throughout the growth cycle of P. calliantha. The production of DA by this diatom species was confirmed by fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl (FMOC) derivatization and HPLC-fluorescence method. The cellular DA level was higher in the early exponential phase, with the maximum value of 0.95 pg DA cell−1. In the stationary phase, the cellular DA levels declined. This is the first record of a DA producing diatom isolated from the Black Sea.  相似文献

A new species of parasitic copepod, Prohatschekia mediterranea n. sp. (Siphonostomatoida: Hatschekiidae), is described from a scorpaenid fish, Scorpaena elongata, collected off Algeria. This is the seventh species of Prohatschekia Nunes-Ruivo, 1954 to be described and the first record of the genus from the Mediterranean Sea. The new species is most closely related to P. cremouxi Nunes-Ruivo, 1954, known from a congeneric host collected in Senegal. A key is provided to distinguish the new species from other members of the genus.  相似文献
