Onychopterocheilus sarikamisensis sp. n. is described and illustrated from eastern Turkey. The species is related to O. hellenicus (Morawitz, 1885) but differs by the shape of the clypeus and antennae, and by the pale colouration of the maculations.

ABSTRACT

Ablabesmyia

is a speciose genus, with about 90 species distributed worldwide, 37 of which occurring in the Neotropical region. In Colombia, A. metica is the only species of the genus recorded so far, which was initially described with material collected in the Colombian Orinoquia and more recently recorded in the southeastern Brazil. In the present study, Ablabesmyia opita sp. n. from the Colombian Andes is described and illustrated based on adult males collected at the inter-andean valley of Magdalena river basin. In addition, an updated taxonomic key for Neotropical species and a map of Ablabesmyia records in Colombia are provided. The male of the new species is similar to that of A. laurindoi but can be easily distinguished by the coloration patterns of the legs, the shape of the sternapodeme and by the number of antepronotals.

ABSTRACT

A new species of the spider genus Cuacuba from Brazil, C. ribeira sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on eighty-six specimens collected from caves in the Vale do Ribeira region, in the states of São Paulo and Paraná. This species is recognized by the hook-shaped median apophysis on the male palp, and females by having invaginations on the sides of the median posterior edge of the epigynal plate. Cuacuba ribeira sp. nov. is the third species recorded for the genus, and like the other two, also comes from Brazilian caves.

ABSTRACT

The genus Tripidofusus n. gen. is proposed to include Tropidofusus ypotethys n. sp. from bathyal depths off New Zealand, as well as Fulgurofusus aequilonius and Columbarium benthocallis from the abyssal zones of the Bering Sea and Scotia Sea, respectively. Tropidofusus can be distinguished from both Fulgurofusus and Coluzea on the basis of its lower spire, prominent peripheral keel, long, thin siphonal canal, as well as in having a much thinner shell that lacks axial sculpture. The type species, Tropidofusus ypotethys n. sp., differs from its congeners in having a broader peripheral keel, smaller aperture and longer siphonal canal, as well as by inhabiting bathyal rather than abyssal depths. The genus is reviewed and the relationships of Tropidofusus to other supraspecific taxa within Columbariidae are discussed, as are relationships among the families within Turbinelloidea.

Pomatoschistus anatoliae sp. n. is described from estuary of Göksu River on the Mediterranean coast of the Anatolia. It is distinguished from its congeners by the suborbital papilla pattern, meristic, and ecological features. DNA barcoding based on COI sequences revealed that there is a high nucleotide sequence divergence to the nearest neighbour. Kimura’s two parameter distances between P. anatoliae sp. n. and other species of Pomatoschistus and Knipowitchia have found to be at least 5.1%.

ABSTRACT

We describe Paradoxapseudes shimojiensis sp. nov. from a submarine limestone cave at Shimoji-jima Island, Ryukyu Islands, southwestern Japan. This species resembles five species (P. basibidens, P. bassoprofundo, P. bermudeus, P. edgari, and P. heroae, among 17 congeners) that bear a long pleotelson, but differs from them in having (i) a naked antennal article 1, (ii) the maxillipedal basis with one inner distal plumose seta, (iii) the chelipedal basis with one dorsodistal and one ventro-subproximal simple setae, (iv) the pereopod-1 basis with four dorsal simple setae longer than the width of the pereopod-1 basis, but without ventrodistal spiniform setae, (v) the pereopod-1 merus with three mid-inner ventral simple setae, and (vi) the pleopodal protopod with two inner plumose setae. We determined partial nucleotide sequences for the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) and 18S rRNA (18S) genes in P. shimojiensis for future use in DNA barcoding and phylogeny. Paradoxapseudes shimojiensis has serial ridges on the inner surfaces of the left and right chelipedal bases that quite resemble the stridulatory organs in harvestmen (Opiliones); by analogy, we speculate that these ridges may be stridulatory sound-producing organs. Two specimens had both a fully-developed marsupium and genital cone, suggesting that P. shimojiensis is simultaneously hermaphroditic.

A new genus and species of belid weevils, Pleurambus strongylus Poinar and Legalov, n. gen., n. sp. (Coleoptera: Belidae) in the tribe Allocorynini is described from Dominican amber. Belid fossils are quite rare and the new species is the first fossil member of the family from the Neotropics. This discovery suggests that belid diversity in Hispaniola during the Tertiary was higher than at present since no extant belids have been reported from the West Indies.http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:DF79FF39-634D-4BD7-AD0B-F5FB3BBE1081  相似文献

In this paper, a revision of tracks referred to as Chelichnus tazelwürmi is reported. The performed analysis, consisting of a holistic approach by means of a mainly morphological analysis, and a secondarily functional one, led to the proposal of a new ichnogenus, named as Contiichnus tazelwurmi. The three dimensional morphology of the tracks allows for the inference of a complex cycle of locomotion by the trackmakers. The tracks were formed in the main phases (i.e. touch-down, weight-bearing and kick-off) by different axes of body load and transference, indicating that the whole fore autopod was involved in the cycle of locomotion and actively contacted the substrate, while for the hind autopod the functional prevalence was markedly centro-medial. Some track features suggest a therapsid-grade synapsid as potential trackmaker. However, the reconstructed autopodial structure does not correlate with known autopods from the Late Permian body fossil record. These observations stress the importance of tetrapod ichnology studies in improving knowledge in the field of vertebrate palaeontology. http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:B4EB4D42-1A3B-48EC-B83F-6942F741AF30

ABSTRACT

A new species of Marginellopsis Bavay, 1911, Marginellopsis herosae n. sp. and two new species of Granulina Jousseaume, 1888, Granulina morassii n. sp. and Granulina boyeri n. sp. are described and illustrated from the Red Sea and Djibouti. Marginellopsis herosae n.sp. represents the first Indo-Pacific record of a genus previously known by only one species from Cuba, Caribbean Sea. The biogeographic relevance of this finding and the possible Tethyan origin of the genus Marginellopsis is suggested. Micrographs of the type specimens of Granulina isseli (G. Nevill & H. Nevill, 1875), Granulina mariei (Crosse, 1867), Granulina cartwrighti (Sowerby, 1915) and Marginellopsis serrei Bavay, 1911 are provided.

Abstract

The rich and relatively diverse fossil mammalian assemblage from Gökler is of special importance for understanding of faunal evolution in Central Anatolia. Large mammals were not recovered, but insectivores and rodents are abundant. The assemblage of rodents is studied in detail and comprises mainly diversified cricetids. Dormice are abundant, but are represented by only one species. Squirrels are represented only by few specimens and also beaver remains were identified. Spanocricetodon sinuosus is referred to a new genus Latocricetodon nov. gen that is tentatively assigned to the Pseudocricetodontinae. Newly named species are Cricetodon goklerensis sp. nov., Democricetodon haltmari sp. nov., Eumyarion lukasi sp. nov. and Glirudinus matusi sp. nov. The rodent assemblage is assigned to local zone C which is correlated to the European biounit MN2 (early Miocene). Our biochronological assessment is supported by radiometric dating from two volcanic ash layers.
