Three new thieno[3,2‐b][1]benzothiophene ( TBT )‐based donor–π–acceptor (D–π–A) sensitizers, coded as SGT ‐ 121 , SGT ‐ 129 , and SGT ‐ 130 , have been designed and synthesized for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), for the first time. The TBT , prepared by fusing thiophene unit with the phenyl unit of triphenylamine donor, is utilized as the π‐bridge for all sensitizers with good planarity. They have been molecularly engineered to regulate the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO)‐lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels and extend absorption range as well as to control the electron‐transfer process that can ensure efficient dye regeneration and prevent undesired electron recombination. The photovoltaic performance of SGT‐sensitizer‐based DSSCs employing Co(bpy)32+/3+ (bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridine) redox couple is systematically evaluated in a thorough comparison with Y123 as a reference sensitizer. Among them, SGT ‐ 130 with benzothiadiazole‐phenyl ( BTD ‐ P ) unit as an auxiliary acceptor exhibits the highest power‐conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10.47% with Jsc = 16.77 mA cm?2, Voc = 851 mV, and FF = 73.34%, whose PCE is much higher than that of Y123 (9.5%). It is demonstrated that the molecular combination of each fragment in D–π–A organic sensitizers can be a pivotal factor for achieving the higher PCEs and an innovative strategy for strengthening the drawbacks of the π‐bridge.  相似文献

Zn(II)–porphyrin sensitizers, coded as SGT‐020 and SGT‐021 , are designed and synthesized through donor structural engineering. The photovoltaic (PV) performances of SGT sensitizer‐based dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are systematically evaluated in a thorough SM315 as a reference sensitizer. The effect of the donor ability and the donor bulkiness on photovoltaic performances is investigated for establishing the structure–performance relationship in the platform of porphyrin‐triple bond‐benzothiadiazole‐acceptor sensitizers. By introducing a more bulky fluorene unit to the amine group in the SM315 , the power conversion efficiency (PCE) is enhanced with the increased short‐circuit current (Jsc) and open‐circuit voltage (Voc), due to the improved light‐harvesting ability and the efficient prevention of charge recombination, respectively. As a consequence, a maximum PCE of 12.11% is obtained for SGT‐021 , whose PCE is much higher than the 11.70% PCE for SM315 . To further improve their maximum efficiency, the first parallel tandem DSSCs employing cobalt electrolyte in the top and bottom cells are demonstrated and an extremely high efficiency of 14% is achieved, which is currently the highest reported value for tandem DSSCs. The series tandem DSSCs give a remarkably high Voc value of >1.83 V. From this DSSC tandem configuration, 7.4% applied bias photon‐to‐current efficiency is achieved for solar water splitting.  相似文献

Dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSCs) are considered to be a promising alternative to Si‐based photovoltaic cells. The electrolyte of the DSC primarily uses triiodide/iodide (I3?/I?) as a redox couple. Therefore, it is essential to understand the regeneration and recombination kinetics of the I3?/I? redox couples in the device. In this context, controlling the total and local concentrations of the I3?/I? redox couples is an important parameter that can influence the DSC performance. Here, we propose that the introduction of a sodium bis (2‐ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT)/water system to the I3?/I? electrolyte enables the control of the concentration of the redox couples, which consequently achieves a high power conversion efficiency of ~11% for ~1000 h (under 1 sun illumination) owing to the enhanced dye‐regeneration efficiency and the reduced recombination rate. This novel concept assists in the comprehension of the regeneration and recombination kinetics and develops highly efficient DSCs.  相似文献

A series of four new dyes, based on the D35 type donor moiety with varied linker units, is synthesized using a facile convergent/divergent method, enabled by an improved synthesis of the D35 donor. The dyes are evaluated in dye sensitized solar cells with Co(II/III)(bpy)3‐based electrolytes. By extending the linker fragment, higher photocurrents and solar energy conversion efficiencies are achieved. It is also found that the linker unit plays a crucial role in maintaining a high open‐circuit photovoltage. Based on the photovoltaic performance it is concluded that the hexylthiophene unit is the most suitable for this purpose, as it allows further enhancement of the already high open‐circuit voltage of D35 to 0.92 V. The best dye in this series reaches an efficiency of 6.8%.  相似文献

The refunctionalization of a series of four well‐known industrial laser dyes, based on benzophenoxazine, is explored with the prospect of molecularly engineering new chromophores for dye‐sensitized solar cell (DSC) applications. Such engineering is important since a lack of suitable dyes is stifling the progress of DSC technology. The conceptual idea involves making laser dyes DSC‐active by chemical modification, while maintaining their key property attributes that are attractive to DSC applications. This molecular engineering follows a stepwise approach. First, molecular structures and optical absorption properties are determined for the parent laser dyes: Cresyl Violet ( 1 ), Oxazine 170 ( 2 ), Nile Blue A ( 3 ), Oxazine 750 ( 4 ). These reveal structure‐property relationships which define the prerequisites for computational molecular design of DSC dyes; the nature of their molecular architecture (D‐π‐A) and intramolecular charge transfer. Second, new DSC dyes are computationally designed by the in silico addition of a carboxylic acid anchor at various chemical substitution points in the parent laser dyes. A comparison of the resulting frontier molecular orbital energy levels with the conduction band edge of a TiO2 DSC photoanode and the redox potential of two electrolyte options I?/I3? and Co(II/III)tris(bipyridyl) suggests promise for these computationally designed dyes as co‐sensitizers for DSC applications.  相似文献

A dye‐sensitized solar cell (DSC) with in situ energy storage capacity is demonstrated using a lead–organohalide electrolyte CH3NH3I·PbCl2 (LOC) to replace the conventional I?/I3? electrolyte. The coupling of lead and iodine in one electrolyte creates a dual‐function rechargeable solar battery that combines the working processes of photoelectrochemical cells with electrochemical batteries. Optimization of the H+ concentration in the electrolyte leads to increased photocharging efficiency and storage. The power conversion efficiency of the LOC–DSC is 8.6% under one sun illumination (AM 1.5, 100 mW cm?2) as a DSC. When operating as a battery, Faraday efficiency can be achieved as high as 81.5% using a bromide‐based CH3NH3Br·PbBr2 (LOB) electrolyte in a DSC configuration. This new cell design suggests a means of combining photovoltaic energy conversion and electrical energy storage.  相似文献

Recently, there is an urgent need for alternative energy resources due to the nonrenewable nature of fossil fuels and increasing CO2 greenhouse gas emissions. The photovoltaic technologies which directly utilize the abundant and sustainable solar energy are critical. Among various photovoltaic devices (solar cells), dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have gained increasing attention due to their high efficiency and easy fabrication process in the past decade. The cathode is a critical part in DSSCs while the benchmark Pt cathode suffers from high cost and scarcity. Thus, the development of alternative Pt‐free cathodes has attracted significant attention with the aim to heighten the cost competitiveness of DSSCs. Among various cathodes, metal oxides are of growing interest due to their superior activity, robust stability, and low cost. Simple oxides such as WO3 and SnO2 are used as cathodes for DSSCs. Considering the fixed atomic environment in simple oxides, complex oxides are more attractive as cathodes because of their more flexible physical and chemical properties. This review attempts to present the rational design of simple/complex metal oxide–based cathodes in DSSCs and then to provide useful guidance for the future design of Pt‐free cathodes. The demonstrated design strategies can be extended to other electrocatalysis‐based applications.  相似文献

The adsorption of self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) on metal oxide surfaces is a promising route to control electronic characteristics and surface wettability. Here, arylphosphonic acid derivatives are used to modulate the surface properties of vertically oriented ZnO nanowire arrays. Arylphosphonate‐functionalized ZnO nanowires are incorporated into hybrid organic‐inorganic solar cells in which infiltrated poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) serves as the polymer donor. Strong correlations between device short‐circuit current density (J sc) and power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) with ZnO surface functionalization species are observed and a weak correlation in the open‐circuit voltage (V oc) is observed. Inverted solar cells fabricated with these treated interfaces exhibit PCEs as high as 2.1%, primarily due to improvements in J sc. Analogous devices using untreated ZnO arrays having efficiencies of 1.6%. The enhancement in J sc is attributed to surface passivation of ZnO by SAMs and enhanced wettability from P3HT, which improve charge transfer and reduce carrier recombination at the organic‐inorganic interface in the solar cells.  相似文献

A newly designed counter electrode (CE) composed of a hybridized structure of Au networks and cobalt sulfide (CoS) nanowire (NW) arrays is presented for flexible dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and quantum dot‐sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs). The sheet resistance of the Au networks electrode is ≈10 Ω sq?1 with a transmittance up to 90%. The CoS NWs/Au hybridized networks show excellent electrocatalytic activity and lower charge transfer resistance toward the reduction of both Sx2? ions and I3? ions. The hybridized electrode exhibits remarkable mechanical strength and no obvious changes in morphology and sheet resistance even after 500 bending cycles; 3.13% and 4.73% efficiency are obtained by utilizing CoS/Au hybridized networks as CEs in TiO2 nanotube array (TNAR) based DSSCs and QDSSCs. This work provides a novel approach to fabricate flexible, transparent, conductive, and catalytically active electrodes for QDSSCs and DSSCs and pomotes the development of transparent percolation conductive films for photovoltaics.  相似文献

2D perovskites have recently been shown to exhibit significantly improved environmental stability. Derived from their 3D analogues, 2D perovskites are formed by inserting bulky alkylammonium cations in‐between the anionic layers. However, these insulating organic spacer cations also hinder charge transport. Herein, such a 2D perovskite, (iso‐BA)2(MA)3Pb4I13, that contains short branched‐chain spacer cations (iso‐BA+) and shows a remarkable increase of optical absorption and crystallinity in comparison to the conventional linear one, n‐BA+, is designed. After applying the hot‐casting (HC) technique, all these properties are further improved. The HC (iso‐BA)2(MA)3Pb4I13 sample exhibits the best ambient stability by maintaining its initial optical absorption after storage of 840 h in an environmental chamber at 20 °C with a relative humidity of 60% without encapsulation. More importantly, the out‐of‐plane crystal orientation of (iso‐BA)2(MA)3Pb4I13 film is notably enhanced, which increases cross‐plane charge mobility. As a result, the highest power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) measured from for current density versus voltage curves afford 8.82% and 10.63% for room‐temperature and HC‐processed 2D perovskites based planar solar cells, respectively. However, the corresponding steady‐state PCEs are remarkably lower, which is presumably due to the significant hysteresis phenomena caused by low charge extraction efficiency at interfaces of C60/2D perovskites.  相似文献

Quenching effects of bergenin, based on the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of the tris(2,2′‐bipyridyl)‐ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)32+)/tri‐n‐propylamine (TPrA) system in aqueous solution, is been described. The quenching behavior can be observed with a 100‐fold excess of bergenin over Ru(bpy)32+. In the presence of 0.1 m TPrA, the Stern–Volmer constant (KSV) of the ECL quenching is as high as 1.16 × 104 M?1 for bergenin. The logarithmic plot of the inhibited ECL versus logarithmic plot of the concentration of bergenin was linear over the range 3.0 × 10?6–1.0 × 10?4 mol/L. The corresponding limit of detection was 6.0 × 10?7 mol/L for bergenin (S/N = 3). In the mechanism of quenching it is believed that the competition of the active free radicals between Ru(bpy)32+/TPrA and bergenin was the key factor for the ECL inhibition of the system. Photoluminescence, cyclic voltammetry, coupled with bulk electrolysis, supports the supposition mechanism of the Ru(bpy)32+/TPrA–bergenin system. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Reaching device efficiencies that can rival those of polymer‐fullerene Bulk Heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells (>10%) remains challenging with the “All‐Small‐Molecule” (All‐SM) approach, in part because of (i) the morphological limitations that prevail in the absence of polymer and (ii) the difficulty to raise and balance out carrier mobilities across the active layer. In this report, the authors show that blends of the SM donor DR3TBDTT (DR3) and the nonfullerene SM acceptor O‐IDTBR are conducive to “All‐SM” BHJ solar cells with high open‐circuit voltages (VOC) >1.1 V and PCEs as high as 6.4% (avg. 6.1%) when the active layers are subjected to a post‐processing solvent vapor‐annealing (SVA) step with dimethyl disulfide (DMDS). Combining electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) analyses and systematic carrier recombination examinations, the authors show that SVA treatments with DMDS play a determining role in improving charge transport and reducing non‐geminate recombination for the DR3:O‐IDTBR system. Correlating the experimental results and device simulations, it is found that substantially higher BHJ solar cell efficiencies of >12% can be achieved if the IQE and carrier mobilities of the active layer are increased to >85% and >10?4 cm2 V?1 s?1, respectively, while suppressing the recombination rate constant k to <10?12 cm3 s?1.  相似文献

While polymer acceptors are promising fullerene alternatives in the fabrication of efficient bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells, the range of efficient material systems relevant to the “all‐polymer” BHJ concept remains narrow, and currently limits the perspectives to meet the 10% efficiency threshold in all‐polymer solar cells. This report examines two polymer acceptor analogs composed of thieno[3,4‐c ]pyrrole‐4,6‐dione (TPD) and 3,4‐difluorothiophene ([2F]T) motifs, and their BHJ solar cell performance pattern with a low‐bandgap polymer donor commonly used with fullerenes (PBDT‐TS1; taken as a model system). In this material set, the introduction of a third electron‐deficient motif, namely 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole (BT), is shown to (i) significantly narrow the optical gap (E opt) of the corresponding polymer (by ≈0.2 eV) and (ii) improve the electron mobility of the polymer by over two orders of magnitude in BHJ solar cells. In turn, the narrow‐gap P2TPDBT[2F]T analog (E opt = 1.7 eV) used as fullerene alternative yields high open‐circuit voltages (V OC) of ≈1.0 V, notable short‐circuit current values (J SC) of ≈11.0 mA cm−2, and power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) nearing 5% in all‐polymer BHJ solar cells. P2TPDBT[2F]T paves the way to a new, promising class of polymer acceptor candidates.  相似文献

This study describes the quenching effects of p‐aminobenzenesulfonic acid (p‐ABSA) based on electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of the tris (2,2‐bipyridyl)‐ruthenium(II)(Ru(bpy)32+)/tri‐n‐propylamine (TPrA) system in aqueous solution. Quenching behaviours were observed with a 200‐fold excess of p‐ABSA over Ru(bpy)32+. In the presence of 0.1 M TPrA, the Stern‐Volmer constant (KSV) of ECL quenching was as high as 1.39 × 104 M‐1 for p‐ABSA. The logarithmic plot of inhibited ECL versus concentration of p‐ABSA was linear over the range of 6.0 × 10‐6 ‐3.0 × 10‐4 mol/L. The corresponding limit of detection was 1.2 × 10‐6 mol/L for p‐ABSA (S/N = 3). The mechanism of quenching is believed to involve an energy transfer from the excited‐state luminophore to a dimer of p‐ABSA and the adsorption of free radicals of p‐ABSA at the electrode surface that impeded the oxidation of the Ru(bpy)32+/TPrA system. The development of non‐fullerene‐based electron acceptors (especially organic molecules with sufficient absorption property within the solar spectrum region) for bulk‐heterojunction (BHJ) organic solar cells (OSCs) is an important issue for the achievement of high photoconversion efficiency. In this contribution, a new class of organic acceptors di‐cyan substituted quinacridone derivatives (DCN‐nCQA, n = 4, 6 and 8) for BHJ solar cells was designed and synthesized. DCN‐nCQA molecules possess facile synthesis, solution processability, visible and near‐IR light absorption and relatively stable characteristics. The DCN‐8CQA molecule exhibited a proper LUMO energy level (–4.1 eV), small bandgap (1.8 eV) and moderate electron mobility (10?4 cm2 V?1 S?1), suggesting that this molecule is an ideal acceptor material for the classical donor material regio‐regular poly (3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT). A photovoltaic device with a structure of [ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:DCN‐8CQA/LiF/Al] displayed a power conversion efficiency of 1.57% and a fill factor of 57% under 100 mW cm?2 AM 1.5G simulated solar illumination. The DCN‐nCQA molecules showed remarkable absorption in the region from 650 to 700 nm, where P3HT has a weak absorption promoting overlap with the solar spectrum and potentially improving the performance of the solar cell.  相似文献

The benefits of incorporating binary metal‐oxide electrodes en route toward efficient dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have recently emerged. The current work aims at realizing efficient indium‐doped zinc oxide based DSSCs by means of enhancing charge transport processes and reducing recombination rates. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopic assays corroborate that low amounts of indium reduce charge transport resistances and increase electron recombination resistances. The latter are in concert with a remarkable enhancement of the charge collection efficiency from 33% to 83% for devices with ZnO and In15Zn85O photoanodes, respectively. Going beyond 15 mol% of indium, an effective electron trapping increases the charge transport resistance and, in turn, dramatically reduces charge collection efficiency. Upon implementing In15Zn85O into an electron cascade photoanode architecture featuring an In15Zn85O bottom layer and a ZnO top layer, a device efficiency of 5.77% and a significantly high current density of 20.4 mA cm?2 in binary ZnO DSSCs are achieved.  相似文献

A simple and sensitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) method for the determination of etamsylate has been developed by coupling an electrochemical flow‐through cell with a tris(2,2'‐bipyridyl)ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)32+)–Nafion‐modified carbon electrode. It is based on the oxidized Ru(bpy)32+ on the electrode surface reacting with etamsylate and producing an excellent ECL signal. Under optimized experimental conditions, the proposed method allows the measurement of etamsylate over the range of 8–1000 ng/mL with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.9997 (n = 7) and a limit of detection of 1.57 ng/mL (3σ), the relative standard deviation (RSD) for 1000 ng/mL etamsylate (n = 7) is 0.96%. The immobilized Ru(bpy)32+ carbon paste electrode shows good electrochemical and photochemical stability. This method is rapid, simple, sensitive and has good reproducibility. It has been successfully applied to the determination of the studied etamsylate in pharmaceutical preparations with satisfactory results. The possible ECL reaction mechanism has also been discussed. Next‐generation organic solar cells such as dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are studied at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and their materials, electronic properties, and fabrication processes are investigated. To enhance the performance of DSSCs, the basic structure of an electron donor, π‐electron linker, and electron acceptor, i.e., D–π–A, is suggested. In addition, special organic dyes containing coumarin, carbazole, and triphenylamine electron donor groups are synthesized to find an effective dye structure that avoids charge recombination at electrode surfaces. Meanwhile, PSCs are manufactured using both a coating method and a laser deposition technique. The results of interfacial studies demonstrate that the level of the conduction band edge (CBE) of a compact TiO2 layer is shifted after TiCl4 treatment, which strongly affects the solar cell performance. Furthermore, a special laser deposition system is developed for the fabrication of the perovskite layers of PSCs, which facilitates the control over the deposition rate of methyl ammonium iodide used as their precursor.  相似文献

In this study, electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of Ru(bpy)32+ (bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridyl) using ascorbic acid (H2A) as co‐reactant was investigated in an aqueous solution. When H2A was co‐existent in a Ru(bpy)32+‐containing buffer solution, ECL peaks were observed at a potential corresponding to the oxidation of Ru(bpy)32+, and the intensity was proportional to H2A concentration at lower concentration levels. The formation of the excited state *Ru(bpy)32+ was confirmed to result from the co‐reaction between Ru(bpy)33+and the intermediate of ascorbate anion radical (A•), which showed the maximum ECL at pH = 8.8. It is our first finding that the ECL intensity would be quenched significantly when the concentration of H2A was relatively higher, or upon ultrasonic irradiation. In most instances, quenching is observed with four‐fold excess of H2A over Ru(bpy)32+. The diffusional self‐quenching scheme as well as the possible reaction pathways involved in the Ru(bpy)32+–H2A ECL system are discussed in this study. All‐perovskite multijunction photovoltaics, combining a wide‐bandgap (WBG) perovskite top solar cell (EG ≈1.6–1.8 eV) with a low‐bandgap (LBG) perovskite bottom solar cell (EG < 1.3 eV), promise power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) >33%. While the research on WBG perovskite solar cells has advanced rapidly over the past decade, LBG perovskite solar cells lack PCE as well as stability. In this work, vacuum‐assisted growth control (VAGC) of solution‐processed LBG perovskite thin films based on mixed Sn–Pb perovskite compositions is reported. The reported perovskite thin films processed by VAGC exhibit large columnar crystals. Compared to the well‐established processing of LBG perovskites via antisolvent deposition, the VAGC approach results in a significantly enhanced charge‐carrier lifetime. The improved optoelectronic characteristics enable high‐performance LBG perovskite solar cells (1.27 eV) with PCEs up to 18.2% as well as very efficient four‐terminal all‐perovskite tandem solar cells with PCEs up to 23%. Moreover, VAGC leads to promising reproducibility and potential in the fabrication of larger active‐area solar cells up to 1 cm2.  相似文献
