Thalli of Xanthoparmelia somloensis with natural content of polyols (control) and polyol-free thalli (acetone-rinsed) were used to study ribitol effects at low temperatures. Thalli segments were cultivated in ribitol concentration of 32 or 50 mM for 168 h at temperatures +5, 0, and ?5 °C. The chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (potential yield of photochemical reactions in PS 2 (variable to maximum fluorescence ratio, Fv/Fm), effective quantum yield of photochemical reactions in PS 2 (ΦPS2), and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) were monitored in 24-h intervals using an imaging system. The effect of 32 mM ribitol on Fv/Fm and ΦPS2 was apparent only at ?5 °C, however, the effect was seen throughout the whole exposure. Surprisingly, 50 mM ribitol concentration treatment led to a decrease in Fv/Fm and ΦPS2 and to an increase in NPQ values at ?5 °C, while no change was observed at 0 °C and +5 °C. Acetone-rinsing caused decrease of Fv/Fm, ΦPS2 and NPQ.  相似文献

The effects of pulsed light based-LEDs at eleven frequencies (0.1, 1, 10, 50, 100, 500 Hz, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 100 kHz) programmed at 50 % duty cycle were analyzed, obtaining important parameters of the fluorescence emission of chlorophyll such as: maximum fluorescence (Fm′), minimum fluorescence, the fluorescence emission in steady state, maximum efficiency of PSII (Fv′/Fm′), the fraction of PSII centers that are open, photochemical quenching, nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ), quantum efficiency of photosystem II (ΦPSII), electron transport rate (ETR) and quantum yield of CO2 assimilation (?CO2). For the study and validation of the results obtained in the experiments, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied 0for each parameter with confidence intervals of 95 %. The results show that the frequencies of pulsed light had positive and negative effects on the fluorescence parameters with respect to the control treatment (continuous light). The frequencies that generated the best performance of Fv′/Fm′, NPQ, ΦPSII, ETR, ?CO2 in tomato plants were 0.1, 1, 100 Hz, and 1 kHz. The increase obtained in these parameters can represent an optimal growth and productivity conditions for optimal energy consumption.  相似文献

This study examined the ability of the photochemical reflectance index (PRI) to track changes in effective quantum yield (Δ F/F m ′), non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), and the xanthophyll cycle de-epoxidation (DPS) in an experimental mangrove canopy. PRI was correlated with (Δ F/F m ′) and NPQ over the 4-week measurement period and over the diurnal cycle. The normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI) was not correlated with any aspect of photochemical efficiency measured using chlorophyll fluorescence or xanthophyll pigments. This study demonstrated that photochemical adjustments were responsible for controlling the flow of energy through the photosynthetic apparatus in this mangrove forest canopy rather than canopy structural or chlorophyll adjustments.  相似文献

Simultaneous measurements of chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence and CO2 assimilation (A) in Vicia faba leaves were taken during the first weeks of growth to evaluate the protective effect of 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) against damage caused by the application of the herbicide terbutryn (Terb) at pre-emergence. V. faba seeds were incubated for 24 h in EBR solutions (2 × 10−6 or 2 × 10−5 mM) and immediately sown. Terb was applied at recommended doses (1.47 or 1.96 kg ha−1) at pre-emergence. The highest dose of Terb strongly decreased CO2 assimilation, the maximum quantum yield of PSII photochemistry in the dark-adapted state (F V/F M), the nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ), and the effective quantum yield (ΔF/FM) during the first 3–4 weeks after plant emergence. Moreover, Terb increased the basal quantum yield of nonphotochemical processes (F 0/F M), the degree of reaction center closure (1 − q p), and the fraction of light absorbed in PSII antennae that was dissipated via thermal energy dissipation in the antennae (1 − FV/FM). The herbicide also significantly reduced plant growth at the end of the experiment as well as plant length, dry weight, and number of leaves. The application of EBR to V. faba seeds before sowing strongly diminished the effect of Terb on fluorescence parameters and CO2 assimilation, which recovered 13 days after plant emergence and showed values similar to those of control plants. The protective effect of EBR on CO2 assimilation was detected at a photosynthetic photon flux density (PFD) of 650 μmol m−2 s−1 and the effect on ΔF/FM and photosynthetic electron transport (J) was detected under actinic lightings up to 1750 μmol m−2 s−1. The highest dose of EBR also counteracted the decrease in plant growth caused by Terb, and plants registered the same growth values as controls.  相似文献

The influence of long‐term drought stress on photosynthesis of Japanese mountain birch (Betula ermanii Cham.) was examined using chlorophyll fluorescence and gas exchange measurements. Drought stress was imposed in potted plants by reducing irrigation frequency from daily (control) to twice‐weekly and once‐weekly. Thirty‐day‐old leaves, which had developed under fully stressed conditions, were used for the measurements. The decline in net CO2 assimilation rate (A) observed in situ in drought‐stressed plants resulted from a lower intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci) due to stomatal closure but the carboxylation efficiency was not affected as there was no difference in the initial slope of the A/Ci response after watering. Although there were no treatment differences in A at Ci below 270 μmol mol?1 (with ambient air at 360 μmol mol?1 CO2), higher electron transport rate (ETR), photochemical quenching (qP) and the efficiency of energy conversion of open PSII (Fv′/Fm′), and similar or even lower non‐photochemical quenching (NPQ) were observed at a given Ci in drought‐stressed plants (of both twice‐ and once‐weekly irrigation), suggesting a higher fraction of open PSII resulting from energy dissipation achieved through higher electron flow rather than through thermal dissipation in PSII antennae. The once‐weekly watered plants showed a lower ratio of gross carbon assimilation rate to ETR (A*/ETR), suggesting an enhanced alternative pathway of electron flow probably involving the Mehler‐peroxidase (MP) reaction as indicated by a higher ΦPSII at a given ΦCO2 under non‐photorespiratory conditions. On the other hand, plants of twice‐weekly watering exhibited almost the same A*/ETR and ΦPSII–ΦCO2 relationship as control plants, indicating no enhanced alternative pathways under mild drought stress.  相似文献

We have investigated photosynthetic changes of fully expanded pea leaves infected systemically by pea enation mosaic virus (PEMV) that often attacks legumes particularly in northern temperate regions. A typical compatible virus–host interaction was monitored during 40 post-inoculation days (dpi). An initial PEMV-induced decrease in photosynthetic CO2 assimilation was detected at 15 dpi, when the virus appeared in the measured leaves. This decrease was not induced by stomata closure and corresponded with a decrease in the efficiency of photosystem II photochemistry (ΦPSII). Despite of a slight impairment of oxygen evolution at this stage, PSII function was not primarily responsible for the decrease in ΦPSII. Chlorophyll fluorescence imaging revealed that ΦPSII started to decrease from the leaf tip to the base. More pronounced symptoms of PEMV disease appeared at later stages, when a typical mosaic and enations appeared in the infected leaves and oxidative damage of cell membranes was detected. From 30 dpi, a degradation of photosynthetic pigments accelerated, stomata were closing and corresponding pronounced decline in CO2 assimilation was observed. A concomitant photoprotective responses, i.e. an increase in non-photochemical quenching and accumulation of de-epoxidized xanthophylls, were also detected. Interestingly, alternative electron sinks in chloroplasts were not stimulated by PEMV infection, which is in contradiction to earlier reports dealing with virus-induced plant stresses. The presented results show that the PEMV-induced alterations in mature pea leaves accelerated leaf senescence during which a decrease in ΦPSII took place in coordinated manner with an inhibition of CO2 assimilation.  相似文献

In comparison with its wild type (WT), the transgenic (TG) rice with silenced OsBP-73 gene had significantly lower plant height, grain number per panicle, and leaf net photosynthetic rate (P N). Also, the TG rice showed significantly lower chlorophyll (Chl), ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBPCO), RuBPCO activase, and RuBP contents, photosystem 2 (PS2) photochemical efficiency (Fv/Fm and ΔF/Fm′), apparent quantum yield of carbon assimilation (Φc), carboxylation efficiency (CE), photosynthetic electron transport and photophosphorylation rates as well as sucrose phosphate synthase activity, but higher intercellular CO2 concentration, sucrose, fructose, and glycerate 3-phosphate contents, and non-photochemical quenching of Chl fluorescence (NPQ). Thus the decreased P N in the TG rice leaves is related to both RuBP carboxylation and RuBP regeneration limitations, and the latter is a predominant limitation to photosynthesis.  相似文献

Modulated chlorophylla fluorescence is useful for eco-physiological studies of lichens as it is sensitive, non-invasive and specific to the photobiont. We assessed the validity of using fluorescence yield to predict CO2 gain in cyano-lichens, by simultaneous measurements of CO2 gas exchange and chlorophylla fluorescence in five species withNostoc-photobionts. For comparison, O2 evolution and fluorescence were measured in isolated cells ofNostoc, derived fromPeltigera canina (Nostoc PC). At irradiances up to the growth light level, predictions from fluorescence yield underestimated true photosynthesis, to various extents depending on species. This reflected the combined effect of a state transition in darkness, which was not fully relaxed until the growth light level was reached, and a phycobilin contribution to the minimum fluorescence yield (Fo). Above the growth light level, the model progressively overestimated assimilation, reflecting increased electron flow to oxygen under excess irradiance. In cyanobacteria, this flow maintains photosystem II centres open even up to photoinhibitory light levels without contributing to CO2 fixation. Despite this we show that gross CO2 gain may be predicted from fluorescence yield also in cyanolichens when the analysis is made near the acclimated growth light level. This level can be obtained even when measurements are performed in the field, since it coincides with a minimum in non-photochemical fluorescence quenching (NPQ). However, the absolute relation between fluorescence yield and gross CO2 gain varies between species. It may therefore be necessary to standardise the fluorescence prediction for each species with CO2 gas exchange.Abbreviations CCM CO2-Concentrating mechanism - Chl chlorophyll - Ci inorganic carbon - 0 convexity (curvature of the light response curve) - ETR electron transport rate - Fo minimum fluorescence yield - Fm maximal fluorescence yield - Fs fluorescence yield at steady-state photosynthesis - Fv variable fluorescence yield - Fv/Fm dark ratio of variable to maximal fluorescence yield after dark adaptation - FvFmmax ratio of variable to maximal fluorescence yield in the absence of quenching - CO2 maximum quantum yield of CO2 assimilation - PS quantum yield of photosystem II photochemistry - GP gross photosynthesis - I irradiance (mol quanta·m–2·s–1) - NPQ non photochemical fluorescence quenching - qp photochemical fluorescence quenching  相似文献

To investigate how excess excitation energy is dissipated in a ribulose-1,5-bisphospate carboxylase/oxygenase activase antisense transgenic rice with net photosynthetic rate (P N) half of that of wild type parent, we measured the response curve of P N to intercellular CO2 concentration (C i), electron transport rate (ETR), quantum yield of open photosystem 2 (PS2) reaction centres under irradiation (Fv′/Fm′), efficiency of total PS2 centres (ΦPS2), photochemical (qP) and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), post-irradiation transient increase in chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence (PITICF), and P700+ re-reduction. Carboxylation efficiency dependence on C i, ETR at saturation irradiance, and Fv′/Fm′, ΦPS2, and qP under the irradiation were significantly lower in the mutant. However, NPQ, energy-dependent quenching (qE), PITICF, and P700+ re-reduction were significantly higher in the mutant. Hence the mutant down-regulates linear ETR and stimulates cyclic electron flow around PS1, which may generate the ΔpH to support NPQ and qE for dissipation of excess excitation energy.  相似文献

Wheat plants grown in controlled growth chambers were exposed to drought stress (DS) and high temperature (HT) singly and in combination (DS+HT). The effects of these two stresses on net photosynthetic rate (P N), stomatal conductance (g s), intercellular CO2 concentration (C i), quantum efficiency of photosystem 2 (ΦPS2), variable to maximum chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence (Fv/Fm), photochemical (qp) and non-photochemical (NPQ) Chl fluorescence, and yield were investigated. Grain yield was decreased by 21 % due to DS, while it was increased by 26 % due to HT. P N, g s, C i, and Chl fluorescence were dramatically reduced to DS, HT, and their interaction, except NPQ which showed an increase due to HT.  相似文献

Lifelong exposure to elevated concentrations of atmospheric CO2 may enhance carbon assimilation of trees with unlimited rooting volume and consequently may reduce requirements for photoprotective pigments. In early summer the effects of elevated [CO2] on carboxylation and light utilization of mature Quercus pubescens trees growing under chronic [CO2] enrichment at two CO2 springs and control sites in Italy were examined. Net photosynthesis was enhanced by 36 to 77%. There was no evidence of photosynthetic downregulation early in the growing season when sink demand presumably was greatest. Specifically, maximum assimilation at saturating [CO2], electron transport capacity, and Rubisco content, activity and carboxylation capacity were not significantly different in trees growing at the CO2 springs and their respective control sites. Foliar biochemical content, leaf reflectance index of chlorophyll pigments (NDVI), and photochemical efficiency of PSII (ΔF/Fm′) also were not significantly affected by [CO2] enrichment except that starch content and ΔF/Fm′ tended to be higher at one spring (42 and 15%, respectively). Contrary to expectation, prolonged elevation of [CO2] did not reduce xanthophyll cycle pigment pools or alter mid‐day values of leaf reflectance index of xanthophyll cycle pigments (PRI), despite the enhancement of carbon assimilation. However, both these pigments and PRI were well correlated with electron transport capacity.  相似文献

Water stress in plants affects a number of physiological processes such as photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance as well as the operating efficiency of photosystem II (PSII) and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ). Photochemical reflectance index (PRI) is reported to be sensitive to changes in xanthophyll cycle which occur during stress and could possibly be used to monitor changes in the parameters mentioned before. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the use of PRI as an early water stress indicator. Water stress treatment was imposed in a greenhouse tomato crop. CO2 assimilation, stomatal conductance, light-adapted and dark-adapted fluorescence as well as PRI and relative water content (RWCs%) of the rooting medium were repeatedly measured. The same measurements were also performed on well-irrigated plants that acted as a reference. The experiment was repeated in four consecutive weeks. Results showed a strong correlation between RWCs% and photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, NPQ and operating efficiency of PSII but not with PRI when the whole dataset was considered. Nevertheless, more detailed analysis revealed that PRI gave a good correlation when light levels were above 700 µmol m−2 s−1. Therefore, the use of PRI as a water stress indicator cannot be independent of the ambient light conditions.  相似文献

In order to investigate the photoprotective function of photorespiration in grapevine under water stress, potted grapevines (Vitis vinifera L. cv. Cabernet Sauvignon) were randomly divided into three uniform groups for well-watered [watered every morning to keep the relative water content (RWC) of soil over 70 %], water-stress adapted (drought-adapted at 30 % relative soil water content for 30 days), and water stress without adaptation treatment (water-stressed to 30 % relative soil water content for 3 days). Net assimilation rate (A N), stomatal conductance (g s), substomatal CO2 concentration (C i), transpiration rate (E), actual photochemical efficiency of PSII (ΦPSII), and maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm) were recorded by combining measurements of gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence. Gross photorespiration (Pr), photosynthetic electron partitioning (JC/JT), photochemical quenching coefficient (qP), and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) were also calculated. The ratio of net assimilation rate to transpiration rate (A N/E) was used as an indicator of water use efficiency (WUE). A N, apparent Pr, ΦPSII, Fv/Fm, qp, and g s decreased, NPQ increased, and gross Pr sustained at a high level under water stress. This suggests that both photorespiration and energy dissipation play important roles in protecting photosynthetic apparatus against photoinhibition. C i in water-stressed plants without adaptation treatment increased, which indicates the leaves suffered a non-stomatal limitation, while the water-stress adaped plants only suffered a stomatal limitation indicated by low C i.  相似文献

We investigated the relationships of photosynthetic capacity (P nsat, near light-saturated net photosynthetic rate measured at 1,200 μmol m−2 s−1 PPFD) to photosystem II efficiency (F v/F m) and to photochemical reflectance index [PRI = (R 531 − R 570)/(R 531 + R 570)] of Pinus taiwanensis Hay. needles at high (2,600 m a.s.l) and low-elevation (800 m a.s.l) sites through different seasons. Results indicate that at high-elevation site, P nsat, F v/F m and PRI (both measured at predawn) paralleled in general with the air temperature. On the coolest measuring day with the minimum air temperature dropping to −2°C, P nsat could decrease to ca. 15% of its highest value, which was measured in autumn. At low-elevation site, with the minimum air temperature of 10–12°C in cooler season and almost no seasonal variation of F v/F m, P nsat dropped to ca. 65% of its highest value and PRI decreased ca. 0.02 in winter. Even though seasonal variation of P nsat was affected by many factors, it was still closely related to PRI based on statistical analyses using data from both sites, through different seasons. On the contrary, seasonal variation of F v/F m of P. taiwanensis needles was influenced mainly by low temperature at high elevation. Therefore, the correlation of P nsat − F v/F m was lower than that of P nsat − PRI when data combined from both high- and low-elevation sites were analyzed. It is concluded that predawn PRI could be used as an indicator to estimate the seasonal potential of photosynthetic capacity of P. taiwanensis grown at low- and high-elevations of sub-tropical Taiwan.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of cinnamic acid (CA) on growth, biochemical and physiological responses of Lactuca sativa L. CA (0.1, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mM) treatments decreased plant height, root length, leaf and root fresh weight, but it did not affect the leaf water status. CA treatment (1.5 mM) significantly reduced Fv, Fm, photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm) and quantum yield of PSII (ΦPSII) photochemistry in L. sativa. The photochemical fluorescence quenching (qP) and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) were reduced after treatment with 1.5 mM CA. Fraction of photon energy absorbed by PS II antennae trapped by “open” PS II reaction centers (P) was reduced by CA (1.5 mM) while, portion of absorbed photon energy thermally dissipated (D) and photon energy absorbed by PSII antennae and trapped by “closed” PSII reaction centers (E) was increased. Carbon isotope composition ratios (δ13C) was less negative (−27.10) in CA (1.5 mM) treated plants as compared to control (−27.61). Carbon isotope discrimination (Δ13C) and ratio of intercellular CO2 concentration (ci/ca) from leaf to air were also less in CA treated plants. CA (1.5 mM) also decreased the leaf protein contents of L. sativa as compared to control.  相似文献

This contribution is a practical guide to the measurement of the different chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence parameters and gives examples of their development under high-irradiance stress. From the Chl fluorescence induction kinetics upon irradiation of dark-adapted leaves, measured with the PAM fluorometer, various Chl fluorescence parameters, ratios, and quenching coefficients can be determined, which provide information on the functionality of the photosystem 2 (PS2) and the photosynthetic apparatus. These are the parameters Fv, Fm, F0, Fm′, Fv′, NF, and ΔF, the Chl fluorescence ratios Fv/Fm, Fv/F0, ΔF/Fm′, as well as the photochemical (qP) and non-photochemical quenching coefficients (qN, qCN, and NPQ). qN consists of three components (qN = qE + qT + qI), the contribution of which can be determined via Chl fluorescence relaxation kinetics measured in the dark period after the induction kinetics. The above Chl fluorescence parameters and ratios, many of which are measured in the dark-adapted state of leaves, primarily provide information on the functionality of PS2. In fully developed green and dark-green leaves these Chl fluorescence parameters, measured at the upper adaxial leaf side, only reflect the Chl fluorescence of a small portion of the leaf chloroplasts of the green palisade parenchyma cells at the upper outer leaf half. Thus, PAM fluorometer measurements have to be performed at both leaf sides to obtain information on all chloroplasts of the whole leaf. Combined high irradiance (HI) and heat stress, applied at the upper leaf side, strongly reduced the quantum yield of the photochemical energy conversion at the upper leaf half to nearly zero, whereas the Chl fluorescence signals measured at the lower leaf side were not or only little affected. During this HL-stress treatment, qN, qCN, and NPQ increased in both leaf sides, but to a much higher extent at the lower compared to the upper leaf side. qN was the best indicator for non-photochemical quenching even during a stronger HL-stress, whereas qCN and NPQ decreased with progressive stress even though non-photochemical quenching still continued. It is strongly recommended to determine, in addition to the classical fluorescence parameters, via the PAM fluorometer also the Chl fluorescence decrease ratio RFd (Fd/Fs), which, when measured at saturation irradiance is directly correlated to the net CO2 assimilation rate (P N) of leaves. This RFd-ratio can be determined from the Chl fluorescence induction kinetics measured with the PAM fluorometer using continuous saturating light (cSL) during 4–5 min. As the RFd-values are fast measurable indicators correlating with the photosynthetic activity of whole leaves, they should always be determined via the PAM fluorometer parallel to the other Chl fluorescence coefficients and ratios.  相似文献

The rate of CO2 fixation (Fc) and 680 nm chlorophyll fluorescence emission (F680) were measured simultaneously during induction of photosynthesis in Zea mays L. leaves under varying experimental conditions in order to assess the validity of fluorescence as an indicator of in vivo photosynthetic carbon assimilation. Z. mays leaves showed typical Kautsky fluorescence induction curves consisting of a fast rise in emission (O to P) followed by a slow quenching via a major transient (S-M) to a steady-state (T). After an initial lag, net CO2 assimilation commenced at a point corresponding to the onset of the S-M transient on the F680 induction curve. Subsequently, Fc and F680 always arrived at a steady-state simultaneously. Decreasing the dark-adaption period increased the rate of induction of both parameters. Alteration of leaf temperature produced anti-parallel changes in induction characteristics of Fc and F680. Reducing the CO2 level to below that required for saturation of photosynthesis also produced anti-parallel changes during induction, however, at CO2 concentrations tenfold greater than the atmospheric level the rate of F680 quenching from P to T was appreciably reduced without a similar change in the induction of Fc. Removal of CO2 at steady-state produced only a small increase in F680 and a correspondingly small decrease in F680 occurred when CO2 was re-introduced. The complex relationship between chlorophyll fluorescence and carbon assimilation in vivo is discussed and the applicability of fluorescence as an indicator of carbon assimilation is considered.Abbreviations Fc rate of CO2 fixation - F680 fluorescence emission at 680 nm  相似文献

Measurements of chlorophyll fluorescence and hyperspectral reflectance were used to detect salinity stress in Suaeda salsa L., beach of Dongtai, Jiangsu Province, China. Three experimental sites were used in our study, which belong to low salinity, middle salinity and high salinity. The results showed that leaf chlorophyll fluorescence changed along salinity gradient. To select the sensitive hyperspectral ranges of leaf chlorophyll fluorescence, the correlationship between leaf chlorophyll fluorescence and hyperspectral reflectance was regressed and analyzed. Statistical results indicated that the 680 and 935 nm were the most sensitive hyperspectral bands for estimating leaf chlorophyll fluorescence. Then, 11 relative hyperspectral indices were selected based on the sensitive bands and previous literature. (R 680 − R 935)/(R 680 + R 935) and R 680/R 935 have higher correlationship coefficient (R) and lower root mean square error, may be used for detecting chlorophyll fluorescence, such as F o, F m, F v/F m, qP, and ΦPSII, while NPQ may be detected by (R 780 − R 710)/(R 780 − R 680). These results suggest that chlorophyll fluorescence of halophyte response to salinity stress could be identified by remote sensing.  相似文献

We evaluated the combined effects of elevated CO2 and water availability on photosynthesis in barley. Soil and plant water content decreased with water stress, but less under elevated CO2 concentration (EC) compared with ambient CO2 concentration (AC). During water stress, stomatal conductance, carboxylation rate, RuBP regeneration, and the rate of triose phosphate utilisation (TPU) were decreased but less when plants grew under EC. Drought treatments caused only a slight effect on maximum photochemical efficiency (variable to maximum fluorescence ratio, Fv/Fm), whereas the actual quantum yield (ΦPS2), maximum electron transport rate (Jmax) and photochemical quenching (qP) were decreased and the non photochemical quenching (NPQ) was enhanced. Under water deficit, the allocation of electrons to CO2 assimilation was diminished by 49 % at AC and by 26 % at EC while the allocation to O2 reduction was increased by 15 % at AC and by 12 % at EC.  相似文献

The photochemical behavior of intact stream periphyton communities in France was evaluated in response to the time course of natural light. Intact biofilms grown on glass substrata were collected at three development stages in July and November, and structural parameters of the biofilms were investigated (diatom density and taxonomy). At each season, physiological parameters based on pigment analysis (HPLC) and pulse‐amplitude‐modulated (PAM) chl fluorescence technique were estimated periodically during a day from dawn to zenith. Regardless of the community studied, the optimal quantum yield of PSII (Fv/Fm), the effective PSII efficiency (ΦPSII), the nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ), and the relative electron transport rate (rETR) exhibited clear dynamic patterns over the morning. Moreover, microalgae responded to the light increase by developing the photoprotective xanthophyll cycle. The analysis of PI parameters and pigment profiles suggests that July communities were adapted to higher light environments in comparison with November ones, which could be partly explained by a shift in the taxonomic composition. Finally, differences between development stages were significant only in July. In particular, photoinhibition was less pronounced in mature assemblages, indicating that self‐shading (in relation to algal biomass) could have influenced photosynthesis in older communities.  相似文献
