The formation of microflora on the laryngeal mucosa in newborn infants during the first 5 days of their life was studied in one of the maternity hospitals of Moscow. In this work modern methods of the isolation and identification of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms were used, and the results thus obtained were computer-processed. In the maternity hospital of the "mother-child" type the microbial colonization of the laryngeal mucosa by normal and opportunistic microorganisms was noted in newborn infants. A wave-like course of the formation of laryngeal microflora, indicative of microbial succession occurring in the child, was revealed. The attempt to establish the cases of microbial interference between the species colonizing the laryngeal mucosa revealed that it was very rarely observed in 5-day-old newborns. This feature was seemingly the cause of low resistance of the larynx to colonization in newborn infants, which determined frequent colonization of their laryngeal mucosa with Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella.  相似文献

The advantages of keeping mothers together with their infants at the postnatal period have been revealed; these advantages are manifested by the quick colonization of newborns by maternal microflora, thus preventing their further colonization by opportunistic hospital microbial strains. As compared with common maternity hospitals, those maternity hospitals where mothers are kept together with their infants have less intensive circulation of hospital microflora, and the morbidity rate in purulent and septic diseases among newborns is twice as low in such hospitals. All these findings may be regarded as the epidemiological substantiation of propositions in favor of further development of maternity hospitals where mothers and their infants are kept together.  相似文献

The formation of skin biocenosis in children under the conditions of a maternity hospital with the joint care of mother and child was studied with the use of commercial bacteriological imprints manufactured in the USSR. The colonization of newborn infants in maternity hospitals with opportunistic, saprophytic and normal microflora was established. In newborn infants aged up to 5 years low skin resistance to colonization and, as a consequence, frequent colonization of the skin with opportunistic and saprophytic microflora was observed.  相似文献

The intestinal microflora of common marmosets and rhesus monkeys were compared by enumerating bacteria from the small and large intestines. Rhesus monkeys had a consistent microflora pattern manifest by higher concentrations of total and Gram-negative aerobic and facultatively anaerobic bacteria, as well as aerobic and anaerobic Lactobacilli, in the large intestine as compared to the small intestine. In contrast, the marmoset microflora were considerably more variable. Approximately two-thirds of the marmosets (designated group A) had an overall profile that resembled the rhesus monkeys, but they had significantly higher concentrations of Gram-negative microflora in their large intestines than the rhesus monkeys. The remaining marmosets (group B) had higher concentrations of bacteria in the small intestine as compared to the large intestine, with the large intestinal concentrations being significantly lower than in the rhesus monkeys and group A marmosets. Moreover, the marmosets did not have detectable levels of aerobic Lactobacilli, and anaerobic Lactobacilli concentrations were significantly lower than in the rhesus macaques. Although it is unknown why microflora differ across species, it is likely that evolutionary adaptations in anatomy and functioning of the gastrointestinal tract influence the concentration and types of bacteria residing as the normal intestinal microflora.  相似文献

The microflora of the gastrointestinal tract in rats 1 day to 100 weeks old, of the cecal contents and wall in starved rats, and of heat-treated feces of normal rats was determined by cultural examination. Streptococci, staphylococci, lactobacilli, actinobacilli, and coliforms colonized the tract during the 1st week of life. Bacteroidaceae, veillonellae, catenabacteria (composed of eubacteria and anaerobic lactobacilli), clostridia, bifidobacteria, anaerobic gram-positive cocci, fusiform bacteria, curved rods, and spirochetes appeared when the rats were 2 to 4 weeks old. Yeasts were slower in colonizing the tract than any other organism. Dramatic changes occurred in the microflora of rats 2 to 4 weeks of age. There was a time lag between the changes in enterococcal and coliform populations. The enterococcal population was depressed over a period from 2 to 6 weeks of age. Bifidobacteria showed a larger population at 4 to 9 weeks than at any other age. The microflora of the stomach was the same as that of the small intestine, with some exceptions. It differed markedly from that of the cecum. The ratio of total aerobic count to anaerobic count gradually increased in the stomach, but decreased in the cecum, with advance in age. The microorganisms distributed in the tract could be divided roughly into 3 types. The population of each organism, except spirochetes, in the cecal wall was approximately 1/1,000 of that in the cecal contents. One of the 2 types of spirochetes was found only in the cecal wall and in a high incidence, forming a large population. In rats starved for 48 hr, coliforms, Proteus spp., anaerobic gram-positive cocci, Clostridia, and some bacteroidaceae showed an increase in population in the cecum, but lactobacilli, veillonellae, and spirochetes decreased. The major organisms cultured from the heat-treated feces were fusiform and curved bacteria, some members of Bacillus, minor anaerobic cocci, and straight rods.  相似文献

Epidemiological efficiency of antibiotic prophylaxis of hospital infections (HIs) in maternity homes was analyzed by the materials on the clinical observation of 43995 newborns and their mothers within a period of 1986 to 1989 as well as by the data on the bacteriological examination of 6616 smears from the mucosa of the nose, pharynx, rectum and umbilical wounds of 1890 newborns carried out within the same period. It was shown that the prophylactic use of the antibiotics in the maternity homes led to changes in the microflora colonizing the newborns. The more massive was the use of the antibiotics in the departments of newborns and the postnatal departments, the more intensive was replacement of gram-positive microflora in the newborns by gram-negative organisms among which Klebsiella strains with high antibiotic resistance predominated. This involved an increase in the incidence of pneumonia and sepsis in the newborns and a higher death rate among the newborns due to HIs. In parallel there was observed an increase in the incidence of metro-endometritis in the puerperae++ and a simultaneous decrease in the number of the cases with lactational mastitis as a result of lower numbers of Staphylococcus aureus cultures isolated from various loci of the newborns. It was concluded that antibiotics were not the drugs to be used as prophylactic agents in control of HIs in maternity homes.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

In 2100 children of different age groups the microbiocenosis of the large intestine was studied. The study revealed that the colonization of the mucous membrane of the large intestine with staphylococci developed in 30% of children with intestinal dysbacteriosis. Young children were mainly affected (91%). The prevailing species among isolated staphylococci was S. aureus (86%), capable of persistence in the intestine (30.9%). In children non typing S. aureus strains mainly circulated (70%), and among phage-typing strains isolates of phage group III prevailed (70.2%). The colonization of the intestine with coagulase-negative staphylococci was possible (14%). Microecological intestinal disturbances in children of different age groups were characterized by different degrees of changes in normal microflora with the prevalence of opportunistic microorganisms in the microbial picture.  相似文献

Total and antimicrobial agent-resistant aerobic and facultative anaerobic gram-negative enteric bacilli in fecal samples of broiler chickens fed growth-promotional levels of antimicrobial agents were determined quantitatively. Two 8-week studies were conducted utilizing groups of chickens fed antimicrobial-supplemented rations; the second study involved feed "pasteurization" as a means of minimizing colonization from the feed. Dilution/spread-plating/replica-plating techniques on selective media were used to obtain counts of total organisms and those resistant to tetracycline, chloramphenicol, streptomycin, ampicillin, or kanamycin. The predominant aerobic and facultative anaerobic gram-negative organism was Escherichia coli, which was detected in all samples at levels ranging from 10(5) to over 10(10) CFU/g of feces. Less common were Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas sp., which varied in occurrence and levels from group to group (range, less than 10(3) to 10(8) CFU/g). Resistance to all antimicrobials (except chloramphenicol in E. coli) was commonly observed at incidences exceeding 10(3) CFU/g in the total populations. Colonization of the chickens' intestinal tracts by susceptible and resistant strains of E. coli, K. pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas sp. appeared to result from their presence in the environment of the newly hatched chickens. Ration pasteurization did affect P. mirabilis, which appeared to colonize from the feed. The results suggest that colonization by, and proliferation of, antimicrobial-resistant aerobic and facultative anaerobic gram-negative enteric bacilli in chicken intestinal tracts may be less dependent on selection through antimicrobial supplementation of the ration than on their prevalence in environments from which they can colonize newborns.  相似文献

Attempts are described to 'normalize' germfree mice by association with 3, 21 and 71 different intestinal bacterial cultures isolated from mice with an SPF flora. Germfree mice associated naturally with an SPF flora served as controls. Vital bacterial counts were determined by aerobic and anaerobic culture. Stomach and small intestine contained fewer bacteria per gram than caecum and large intestine. Aerobic vital counts from caecum and large intestine were higher in the experimental groups than in control mice. The aerobic and anaerobic flora in stomach and small intestine comprised mainly Gram-positive non-fusiform shaped rods. In the caecum and colon Gram-positive cocci predominated in the aerobic culture while in the anaerobic culture fusiform-shaped rods were prominent. Scanning electron microscopy of oesophagus, ileum, caecum and faeces demonstrated colonization of the oesophageal epithelium only after association with 71 bacterial strains; the filamentous bacteria present in the ileum of SPF mice were not found in the experimental groups and caecum and faeces contained mainly fusiform-shaped bacteria. Non-bacterial matter decreased in the caecum and faeces with increase in the complexity of the flora.  相似文献

Bacterial colonization of the neonatal gastrointestinal tract begins during birth when the neonate comes into contact with the maternal cervical and vaginal flora. In infants delivered by Caesarean section, bacteria colonizing the neonate gastrointestinal tract are provided by the environment. The first bacteria encountered in the majority of healthy infants, are facultative anaerobes, which remain predominant during the first 2 weeks of life. Among them, Staphylococcus, Enterobacteriaceae and Streptococcus were the genera most commonly isolated from the newborn faecal flora at birth. Facultative anaerobic bacteria are followed closely by Bifidobacterium sp. Clostridium perfringens is present within 2 days with an increase incidence in newborns delivered by a Caesarean section. Clostridium perfringens seems to be the precursor for installation of other anaerobic putrefactive bacteria, as Bacteroides and other Clostridium sp. The impact of Caesarean section and the period and quality of hospitalization are mainly implicated in changes of the normal newborn flora. Feeding seems to modulate the colonization pattern. In humans, breast milk plays a role in passive immunization of the neonatal intestine, and contains factors that promote the growth of Bifidobacterium bifidum in the intestinal flora. Formula feeding seems to promote implantation and persistence of Clostridium perfringens, and clearly enhances intestinal colonization of C. difficile in newborns.  相似文献

Aerobic and anaerobic microbial potentials of guts from earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus Hoffmeister and Octolasium lacteum (Oerl.)) collected from a beech forest were evaluated. On the basis of enumeration studies, microbes capable of growth under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions were more numerous in the earthworm intestine than in the beech forest soil from which the worms were obtained. The intestine of worms displayed nearly equivalent aerobic and anaerobic microbial growth potentials; in comparison, soils displayed greater aerobic than anaerobic microbial growth potentials. Hence, the ratio of microbes capable of growth under obligately anaerobic conditions to those capable of growth under aerobic conditions was higher with the worm intestine than with the soil. Process level studies corroborated these population differentials: (i) under anaerobic conditions, worm gut homogenates consumed glucose, cellobiose, or ferulate more readily than did soil homogenates; and (ii) under aerobic conditions, worm gut homogenates consumed cellobiose or oxygen more readily than did soil homogenates. Collectively, these results reinforce the general concept that the earthworm gut is not microbiologically equivalent to soil and also suggest that the earthworm gut might constitute a microhabitat enriched in microbes capable of anaerobic growth and activity.  相似文献

An outbreak of purulent meningitides in a hospital ward for preterm babies, caused by Serratia marcescens strain of serovar 05/13 with multiple resistance, is described. Data on the results of the long-term observation of the ward showed that during three months preceding the outbreak the consecutive spread of the infective strain and its colonization of the intestine of children occurred. At the moment of the outbreak S. marcescens 05/13 was the dominating intestinal microflora in 37% of children in the ward and constituted 30% of the total aerobic flora in the intestine of the examined children. No S. marcescens strains were isolated from the feces and urine of the medical personnel and mothers. The importance of the observation of microflora colonizing newborn infants in the ward for the evaluation and prognostication of the epidemiological situation is discussed.  相似文献

The purpose of this work was the research and development of an experimental model to study anti-Clostridium difficile caecal microflora in the hamster. First the existence of this "barrier" was verified in conventional hamsters. Then, the caecal flora from these animals was orally transferred to C3H germfree mice. The barrier effect was maintained in the axenic mice. The comparative bacteriological analysis of hamster and mouse feces did not reveal important variations in the dominant anaerobic flora (P less than 0.01). After treatment with erythromycin, the barrier effect was maintained and while the disappearance of Escherichia coli was observed, the dominant anaerobic flora persisted. After dilution (10(-2] and subsequent heating (70 degrees C, 10 min) of caecal contents, the inhibitory activity against C. difficile was maintained although the number of aerobic and aerotolerant bacteria was reduced. The isolation from caecal microflora of anaerobic strains implicated in the resistance to colonization is presently underway in Freter anaerobic chambers.  相似文献

Comparison of microbial content of acid-contaminated and nonacid-contaminated streams from the same geographical area indicated that nonacid streams contained relatively low numbers of acid-tolerant heterotrophic microorganisms. The acid-tolerant aerobes survived when acid entered the stream and actually increased in number to about 2 × 103 per ml until the pH approached 3.0. The organisms then represented the heterotrophic aerobic microflora of the streams comprised of a mixture of mine drainage and nonacid water. A stream which was entirely acid drainage did not have a similar microflora. Most gram-positive aerobic and anaerobic bacteria died out very rapidly in acidic water, and they comprised a very small percentage of the microbial population of the streams examined. Iron- and sulfur-oxidizing autotrophic bacteria were present wherever mine water entered a stream system. The sulfur-oxidizing bacteria predominated over iron oxidizers. Ecological data from the field were verified by laboratory experiments designed to simulate stream conditions.  相似文献

Lactobacilli constitute a significant part of the microbial population in the gastrointestinal tract of humans and animals. Sensitivity of intestinal lactobacilli to 11 chemotherapeutic drugs was tested with the method of serial dilutions in the solid medium MRS under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Criteria for dividing the organisms into sensitive and resistant ones with respect to the drugs are proposed. Prevalence of lactobacilli polyresistant strains in the intestine contents of healthy persons at the age of 25 to 50 years being in prolonged constant contact with antibiotics was shown. On the whole 77 various combinations of the antibiotic resistance markers were detected in 141 tested strains. The most frequent were isolated simultaneously resistant to 6 or 7 antibiotics. Different levels of the antibiotic resistance in the strains tested under the aerobic and anaerobic conditions were observed.  相似文献

The study of the microflora of the large intestine in healthy adult volunteers of different age groups (25-36, 55-68 and 88-94 years old), living in Switzerland, has been carried out. As revealed by the analysis of the result obtained in this study, normal intestinal microflora in adults has different qualitative and quantitative characteristics at different periods of their life. The greatest diversity of intestinal microflora is observed at a mature age (55-68 years old), while the poorest microflora is observed in people more advanced in age. The amount of microorganisms inhabiting the intestine reaches its maximum in people of mature age and is low in elderly people. Changes in normal intestinal microflora are probaly linked with morpho-functional transformations in the host body at different periods of life. It is expedient to work out the criteria of norm for the microflora of different age groups with a view to use these criteria for the evaluation of the microbial status of the intestine in persons of different age.  相似文献

Longitudinal quantitative cultures of fecal flora of 20 newborns, 4 older babies and 10 healthy adults were carried out to study the composition and development of the intestinal flora. In all newborns the same sequence of colonization was observed. The numbers of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria fluctuated and reached finally numbers of 1010/g wet weight. In adults the flora was in balance with 105–107 aerobic and 1010–1011 anaerobic bacteria/g wet weight. Interaction experiments in vitro showed growth inhibition of Bacteroides fragilis by all intestinal species isolated. Bifidobacteria were not inhibited. The assumption was made that this type of interaction could be one of the mechanisms involved in the intestinal micro-ecology. Three of the Bacteroides fragilis strains tested were able to grow on natural intestinal substrates as gastric mucin, glycogen and a variety of plant polysaccharides. Acetic, lactic, propionic and succinic acids were detected as fermentation products.  相似文献

The comparative analysis of the occurrence of purulent septic diseases in mothers during the puerperal period and in newborns, observed in a maternity hospital before and after the introduction of the system of keeping newborns together with their mothers, showed a considerable decrease in the morbidity rate among newborn infants (6 times) and in occurrence of mastitis among puerperae (30 times). This is attributed to a decrease in the frequency of the colonization of newborns and mothers in the puerperal period by the hospital strains of staphylococci belonging to epidemic phagotypes. The gradual elimination of staphylococci of phagotype 80, which dominated for several years, from the hospital was observed. To decrease the morbidity rate, the introduction of the system of keeping newborn infants with their mothers in all maternity hospitals of the USSR is proposed.  相似文献

In this review recent information on relationships between the vaginal environment and microflora, including new taxonomic groups of microorganisms, is updated. The role of normal microflora in formation of vaginal colonization resistance and possible participation of some representatives of normal microflora, mainly nonsporulating anaerobic organisms, in the development of perinatal, neonatal and gynecological infectious complications are considered.  相似文献
