The method of serial dilutions on the Hottinger agar was applied to comparative assay of antibiotic sensitivity in 50 strains of the plague microbe isolated abroad and in 5 strains isolated in the plague focus in the Central Caucasus. The antibiotics used in the assay were the following: streptomycin, gentamicin, doxycycline, monomycin, kanamycin, tetracycline, erythromycin, ristomycin, lincomycin and polymyxin M. Irrespective of the origin, all the isolates were resistant to erythromycin, lincomycin and polymyxin M. The levels of the sensitivity to the other antibiotics were different. The data serve as a ground for the statement that there is no tendency to development of antibiotic resistance in the plague microbe in patients treated with high doses of the antibiotics and mainly streptomycin. Along with streptomycin, such antibiotics as gentamicin, tetracycline, doxycycline and kanamycin are useful in the therapy of plague and require further investigation.  相似文献

In 1976 isolation of Proteus from wounds of patients with various purulent processes amounted to 14.5 per cent. Serotypes 0-10, 0-3 and H-3 predominated among the isolates. Sensitivity of 35 clinical strains of Proteus to 10 antibiotics, furagin and nevigramone was studied by the method of serial dilutions in liquid media. All the isolates were highly resistant to the antibiotics except gentamicin, furagin and nevigramone, the MIC of which for most of the strains was 3.12, 1.6-3.12 and 6.25-12.5 gamma/ml, respectively. The effect of 14 combinations of chemotherapeutics was also studied. The combinations of gentamicin with carbenicillin, gentamicin with ampicillin and monomycin with ampicillin proved to be most effective against the Proteus strains tested. The following combinations may be of practical value: monomycin + carbenicillin, kanamycin + ampicillin, kanamycin + carbenicillin, ampicillin + furagin, gentamicin + nevigramone. The combinations of carbenicillin with furagin and gentamicin with furagin were also rational.  相似文献

Antibiotic sensitivity of 3524 Shigella cultures isolated from patients in 1974-1982 and 414 cultures isolated in 1983-1985 was assayed with standard paper disks. The isolates of 1974-1982 were mostly responsive to ampicillin, carbenicillin, kanamycin, gentamicin, monomycin, neomycin and chloramphenicol. Certain differences in the level of the antibiotic resistance were observed in the Shigella isolates belonging to diverse species. Polyresistant cultures of Shigella amounted to 96.5% and ranged from 88.5 to 99.4% in different years. The number of the cultures with multiple resistance among Shigella sonnei was somewhat higher than that among the Flexneri and Newcastle bacilli. The Shigella isolates of 1983-1985 were mostly responsive to gentamicin, carbenicillin, neomycin, kanamycin and monomycin. 55.5% of the Shigella isolates were responsive to chloramphenicol and only 3.1% to tetracycline. Almost all the causative agents of dysentery isolated within that period were polyresistant. Phenotypic characteristics of multiple resistance in the Shigella cultures were studied.  相似文献

Comparative data on the neuroblocking activity of antibiotics of various groups in acute experiments on albino mice and narcotized cats are presented. It was found that according to the impairments in the neuro-muscle conductivity the drugs were arranged in the following descending order: polymyxin B, neomycin, gentamicin, streptomycin, lincomycin and kanamycin. The streptomycin derivatives were approximately 2 times less toxic than streptomycin. The problems of the mode of action of the antibiotics on conductivity of excitation in the neuro-muscle synapses are discussed.  相似文献

Antibiotic sensitivity of 292 strains of Proteus, 60 strains of Ps, aeruginosa, 309 strains of S. aureus and 88 strains of S. epidermidis isolated from the upper respiratory tract of patients with scleroma and ozena was studied. The cultures of Pr. mirabilis were sensitive to aminoglucosides (54.9-96.2 per cent) and Pr. morganii were sensitive to levomycetin (81.5 per cent) and neomycin (92.6 per cnet). Sensitivity of Pr. vulgaris and Pr. morganii was reliably higher (p less than 0.001) than that of Pr. mirabilis. The strains of Pr. morganii were less sensitive to monomycin (P less than 0.001) and streptomycin (p less than 0.01) as compared to the cultures of other Proteus species tested. The strains of Ps. aeruginosa were sensitive only to gentamicin (90 per cent) and neomycin (81.1 per cent). Most of the strains of S. aureus (85.4-100 per cent) were sensitive to oleadomycin, erythromycin, olemorphocycline, tetraolean, oxacillin, methicillin ceporin, lincomycin, ristomycin, kanamycin, monomycin and gentamicin. Benzylpenicillin (90.8 per cent of the sensitive strains), ampicillin (67.1 per cent), tetracycline (66.7 per cent), levomycetin (68.6 per cent) and streptomycin (38.1 per cent) were less effective. Antibacterial therapy in cases with scleroma and ozena should be directed not only against causative agents of the diseases but also against the microbes developing due to disbacteriosis. Combination of parenteral and local use of the antibiotics in the treatment of chronic clebsiellesis decreased the isolation rate of Proteus and Ps. aeruginosa in the patients.  相似文献

Glycogen phosphorylase activity in both liver and kidney medulla of rabbit was stimulated in the presence of caffeine by various aminoglycoside antibiotics in the following rank order: gentamicin greater than neomycin greater than amikacin = kanamycin greater than or equal tobramycin, while streptomycin did not affect the enzyme activity. In contrast, in the presence of AMP, the stimulatory action of antibiotics was not observed. Since in the gentamicin-treated rabbits stimulation of glycogen phosphorylase activity by about 30% in both liver and kidney medulla was accompanied by a decrease of liver glycogen content by about 60% it is likely that a decline in liver glycogen level following antibiotic treatment is due to an increased glycogen phosphorylase activity.  相似文献

Tobramycin and sisomycin proved to have the highest antibacterial activity against 156 clinical strains of Ps. aeruginosa and were 4--8 times more effective than monomycin, kanamycin, neomycin and to a lesser extent gentamicin. The combination of mecillinam and sisomycin had a synergistic effect with respect to 26 out of 50 strains of Ps. aeruginosa and the combination of mecillinam and tobramycin had a synergistic effect on 18 strains. An antagonistic effect was observed with the use of the above combinations in 3 cases. The effect of the combinations depended on sensitivity of Ps. aeruginosa cultures to the aminoglycoside antibiotic included into the compositions.  相似文献

Strain 344 synthesizing an antibiotic complex was isolated after fusion of the protoplasts of Streptomyces monomycini producing monomycin and Streptomyces kanamyceticus producing kanamycin. The major component of the complex was identified with albofungin and the minor one was suggested to be chloralbofungin. In the cultures of strain 344 variants forming monomycin were detected. After regeneration of the protoplasts of the parent strains there were isolated no stable clones synthesizing antibiotics differing from monomycin and kanamycin.  相似文献

Sensitivity of the microflora of the oncological patients' wounds to the new antibiotics, such as gentamicin, kanamycin, oxacillin, ampicillin and lincomycin was studied with the help of the disc method. The discs with the above antibiotics were prepared under laboratory conditions in accordance with the respective instructions in the WHO. Sensitivity of 429 bacterial cultures, including 98 cultures of pathogenic staphylocci, 45 cultures of Enterococci, 43 hemolytic streptococci, 143 cultures of Escherichia, 50 cultures of Ps. aeruginosa and 50 cultures of Proteus was determined. The studies showed that gentamicin was the most active antibiotic aganist all the microbial species isolated from the surgical and other wounds of oncological patients. It may be used in treatment of the infections caused by association of the microbes belonging to different species, as well as in treatment of purulent processes before elucidating their etiology, 16.7 per cent of the Enterococcal isolates were resistant to gentamicin. Monomycin, kanamycin, oxacillin, lincomycin and macrolide antibiotics at present are sufficiently active against pathogenic staphylococci and hemolytic streptococci.  相似文献

Sensitivity of 1492 strains of the causative agents of the surgical purulent infections, i. e. pathogenic Staphylococcus, Proteus, Ps. aeruginosa and E. coli to benzylpenicillin, streptomycin, levomycetin, tetracycline, erythromycin, oleandomycin, monomycin, kanamycin, novobiocin, ampicillin, oxacillin, ceporin, gentamicin and rifampicin was studied. Gentamicin was most active against all the bacterial species tested. The staphylococci were in addition sensitive in a high percentage of the cases to rifampicin, novobiocin, ceporin, monomycin and kanamycin. The isolates of E. coli were in addition sensitive to ceporin, monomycin and kanamycin. Sensitivity of the strains of Ps. aeruginosa and Proteus was low to all of the antibiotics except gentamycin. Most of the strains of the causative agents of the surgical purulent infections were multiresistant to 4 antibiotics. The number of the staphylococcal strains sensitive to benzylpenicillin, streptomycin and levomycetin increased in 1976 as compared to 1975 on the background of a limited use of these antibiotics in clinics.  相似文献

Sensitivity of 92 strains of the causative agent of pseudotuberculosis isolated in the Ukraine was studied with respect to 26 antibacterial drugs. It was found that the strains of the pseudotuberculous bacteria were sensitive to 17 drugs, i.e. benzylpenicillin, ampicillin, carbenicillin, cephaloridin, chloramphenicol, tetracycline, streptomycin, neomycin, monomycin, kanamycin, gentamicin, polymyxin, colistin, furadontin, nalidixic acid, sulfisoxazol and septrin. No differences in the sensitivity of the strains isolated in various districts of the Ukraine and from various sources were found. By their antibiotic sensitivity the strains isolated in the Ukraine did not differ from the cultures isolated in other districts of the USSR and abroad.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to analyse the activity interaction of aminoglycosides (gentamicin, kanamycin, streptomycin and dihydrostreptomycin) when combined with other antibiotics (lincomycin, benzylpenicillin, amoxicillin, cephalexin, spectinomycin and erythromycin), on selected clinical bacterial strains. The checkerboard method has been selected from the traditional assays for the measurement of antibiotic interaction. Checkerboard results for all strains demonstrated synergism for nine cases (9/112--8%). Additive effects were predominant--73/112--65.2%. In 12.5% neutral effects were shown, but in 11.6% of combinations FIC indexes were not possible to calculate, because of the resistance of clinical strains to the highest concentration of at least one antibiotic. The best results were achieved for combinations of dihydrostreptomycin with procaine penicillin because of higher number of cases synergy effect was observed. Antagonism of aminoglycosides and beta-lactams in case of gentamicin and amoxicillin for E. coli and E. cloacea strains were shown. Potential activity for combination of streptomycin and erythromycin was shown.  相似文献

Data on the frequency of intestinal infections caused by Klebsiella spp. in infants at the age of 1 month to 1 year and antibiotic resistance of K. pneumoniae and K. oxytoca isolates from newborns and infants aged 1 month to 1 year are presented. The frequency of the Klebsiella isolates from the newborns and infants at the age of 1 month to 1 year with acute intestinal infections amounted to 17.7 +/- 1.4 and 42.5 +/- 1.4 per cent, respectively. The majority of the clinical strains had a multiple resistance to 7-9 drugs. The overwhelming majority of the strains were sensitive to gentamicin, monomycin, kanamycin, neomycin and polymyxin B.  相似文献

The photochemical generation of excited states of oxygen such as the superoxide ion(O-2) and singlet oxygen (1o2) by the mild illumination of culture medium containing riboflavin induces benzo(alpha)pyrene mono-oxygenase in 3 different cell lines derived from rat liver. Similar rates of O-2 generation can be produced by the action of xanthine oxidase on xanthine yet this system does not induce the mono-oxygenase. This result confirms that the mono-oxygenase induction is not mediated by O-2 is not mediated by O-2 and that 1O2 is the most likely candidate for stimulating the mono-oxygenase activity.  相似文献

Antibacterial activity of 7 aminoglycoside antibiotics and combinations of tobramycin or gentamicin with carbenicillin was studied with respect to 33 clinical strains of Ps. aeruginosa. Tobramycin, sisomicin, gentamicin and amicacin showed high levels of antibacterial activity. Tobramycin and sisomicin were 3-4 and 2 times more effective than gentamicin. 100 per cent of the Ps. aeruginosa isolates was sensitive to tobramycin and amicacin. The number of the isolates sensitive to sisomicin and gentamicin amounted to 97 and 94 per cent respectively. The respective numbers for streptomycin and kanamycin were 32 and 11 per cent. No monomycin sensitive isolates were detected. Combination of tobramycin or gentamicin with carbenicillin increased the antibacterial activity of the aminoglycoside antibiotics by 2-16 times and that of carbenicillin by 2-32 times. The synergistic effect of gentamicin or tobramycin with carbenicilin was observed with respect to 50 and 58 per cent of the isolates respectively. No antagonistic effect was detected on the combined use of the antibiotics. The majority of the isolates (96 per cent) were sensitive to combinations of carbenicillin in a concentration of 50 micrograms/ml with tobramycin or gentamicin in concentrations of 0.15 or 0.3 micrograms/ml respectively.  相似文献

Sensitivity of 80 Pseudomonas aeruginosa cultures forming melanin and 80 cultures synthesizing other pigments to amikacin, gentamicin, kanamycin, carbenicillin, levomycetin, monomycin, 5-NOK, polymyxin M, rifampicin, streptomycin, tetracycline, tobramycin and erythromycin was determined. It was found that the cultures of Ps. aeruginosa synthesizing melanin were less resistant to most of the antibiotics that the other representatives of this species.  相似文献

Possible prevention of the nephrotoxic effect of different doses of aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as monomycin, kanamycin and gentamicin was studied experimentally on chinchilla rabbits. Substances increasing the cell resistance (sodium nucleinate, prodigiosan and pyrogenal alone and sodium nucleinate combinations with the bacterial polysaccharides) were used. It was shown that sodium nucleinate prevented nephrotoxicity of the aminoglycosides in the doses 2.5 times higher than the therapeutic ones. The combined use of sodium nucleinate with pyrogenal or prodigiosan was most effective. It prevented the nephrotoxic effect of the antibiotics in the doses 5 times higher than the therapeutic ones.  相似文献

Sensitivity of 125 strains of group B streptococci isolated from newborns, their mothers and personnel in a maternity home was studied with respect to 12 antibiotics: benzylpenicillin, ampicillin, methicillin, cephalotin, erythromycin, lincomycin, levomycetin (chloramphenicol), oxacillin, tetracycline, streptomycin, gentamicin and ristomycin. The method of serial dilutions in a solid medium was applied. All the strains were sensitive to ristomycin and erythromycin. The predominating number of the strains were sensitive to lincomycin, levomycetin and the beta-lactam antibiotics. Strains resistant or moderately resistant to benzylpenicillin, ampicillin, oxacillin, methicillin and cephalotin were detected. The majority of the strains were resistant to streptomycin, tetracycline and gentamicin. Multiple antibiotic resistance with 2-7 determinants was revealed in 11.2 per cent of the strains. The antibiotic sensitivity of the strains isolated from the newborns, their mothers and the personnel in the maternity home was on the whole similar or insignificantly differed.  相似文献

Seventy-one clinical isolates of 5 species of group D Streptococcus (Enterococcus) were tested for susceptibility to 15 antibiotics at pH 5.0, 7.4, and 8.5. Penicillin G, ampicillin, cephalothin, cephaloridine, and novobiocin were considerably more active against all strains at pH 5.0 than in the more alkaline media. On the other hand, lincomycin, clindimycin, erythromycin, and gentamicin were moderately to markedly more active at pH 8.5. No important differences were noted in the susceptibility of the strains to kanamycin and streptomycin, at the pH levels tested, but the organisms were quite resistant to them in these tests. The various species differed quantitatively in their susceptibility to the individual drugs and in the effects of pH. The size of the inoculum also had a variable effect on susceptibility, depending on the species of Enterococcus, the antibiotics, and the pH of the test medium. The data suggest that, in the antibiotic treatment of urinary tract infections caused by Enterococcus, attempts should be made to achieve the optimum pH in the urine, particularly in view of the fact that organisms of this group are often resistant to several antibiotics in the usual tests.  相似文献

To understand the role of the superoxide (O-2) radical in chromate-related genotoxicity, we investigated whether Cr(VI) can catalyze the Haber-Weiss cycle in vitro: O-2 + Cr(VI)----Cr(V) + O2 Cr(V) + H2O2----Cr(VI) + .OH + OH-. ESR and spin trapping techniques were utilized to monitor the O-2 (produced using xanthine/xanthine oxidase), .OH, and Cr(V) species. Superoxide dismutase as well as catalase inhibited the .OH radical radical formation, attesting to the direct involvement of O-2 and H2O2 in the process. ESR measurements also provided direct evidence for the formation of Cr(V). Kinetic measurements were consistent with the role of Cr(V) and H2O2 as intermediates in .OH formation. These results indicate that in cellular media, especially during chromate phagocytosis, the O-2 radical can become a significant source of .OH radicals and hence a significant factor in the biochemical mechanism of cellular damage due to Cr(VI) exposure.  相似文献
