The population dynamics of trout (Salmo trutta L.) were studied in two high-altitude streams flowing westwards into the River Eden in northern England. The results from one (Knock Ore Gill), which is accessible to spawners from downstream, were compared with published data from an isolated population in a nearby stream which flows eastward into the River Tees. The Knock Ore Gill trout had a population density of 0.4–0.9 fish m–2, a biomass of 12.4 g m–2, annual production of 12–14 g m–2 year–1 and an instantaneous mortality rate of 0.97 year–1. Comparable values from the Tees tributary were 0.2, 3.3, 2.3 and 0.66 respectively. The Knock Ore Gill population also contrasted with that of the Tees tributary in having reliable recruitment from year to year. These differences were related to differences in the chemistry and spate characteristics of the two streams and to the fact that immigrants from downstream were responsible for over 30% of the annual oviposition in Knock Ore Gill.  相似文献

The paper compares three batches of brown trout (Salmo trutta Linnaeus) eggs, two batches of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar Linnaeus) eggs and the artificial trout eggs described by Ottaway (1981), in terms of their measurable physical characteristics. Attention was given to the effects of temperature and of the stage of development of the real eggs. Comparisons were also made between brown trout eggs and artificial eggs of the rate of fall in a water column, of the value and speed of attainment of terminal velocity when falling through water and of the pattern of settlement within an experimental stream channel.The main measurable characteristics of brown trout eggs (after water hardening) and of artificial eggs (values in parentheses) were: diameter 0.52–0.54 mm (0.54), fresh weight 0.078–0.086 g (0.09), density 1.071–1.075 g ml–1 (1.066), and volume 0.073–0.081 ml (0.085). There was no evidence of any major change in these values as egg development proceeded. Salmon eggs had a similar density to trout and artificial eggs but had 30 to 70% greater weight and volume. The water-hardening of eggs caused their dry matter content to fall from 37–39% to 31–34% and there were corresponding increases in volume and fresh weight.The rate of fall of trout eggs and artificial eggs through water when timed from rest at the water surface to a depth of 125 cm was similar for both types of egg at 10 °C. This rate rose with increasing temperature at the same low rate of c. 0.02 cm s–1 °C–1 for both types of egg. Both types of egg had a terminal velocity of c. 8.8 cm s–1 and both achieved terminal velocity in less than 1.5 s after release.The patterns of settlement of the two types of eggs in an experimental channel were similar.  相似文献

Effect of soil application of eight combinations of NPK fertilizers on the severity of black spot disease (BSD), caused by Alternaria brassicae (Sacc.) Berk., and yield of short duration oilseed rape (Brassica campestris L) were investigated under both pot and field conditions in 1987–88, 1988–89 and 1990–91. The severity of BSD was significantly greater (36–48%) on plants grown in ground treated with NP (N 90 kg ha–1+P 40 kg ha–1) applied as urea and single superphosphate respectively than on plants from the unfertilized control (NoPoKo) (o). However, the severity of BSD was significantly smaller (25–33%) when K (40 kg ha–1) was applied as muriate of potash than in plants from control and NP treatments. The effect of NK (N 90 kg ha–1+K 40 kg ha–1) in decreasing the severity of BSD was increasingly more pronounced than the effects of PK (P 40 kg ha–1+K 40 kg ha–1), NP and K (40 kg ha–1) applications. The decrease in the severity of BSD due to K was due to increased production in plants of phenolics which inhibited conidial germination and decreased sporulation of A. brassicae.The decrease in the severity of BSD due to NK application gave consistently increased seed yield 68% more than those of control and other treatments. The K-fertilized plants also showed increased resistance to lodging, increased 1000-seed weight and decreased seed infection. Seeds obtained from K-fertilized plants showed good seed germinability and vigorous seeding growth.  相似文献

Two forest associations, cohune palm (Cohune Ridge) and mixed tropical hardwood (High Bush), were assessed on the basis of nutrient movement and storage for their suitability for agriculture. Continuous monitoring of soil nitrogen and leaf litterfall over a one-year period provided information on soil building processes in the forest fallow. Destructive cuts revealed the storage of 690 kg N ha–1 in the standing biomass of the Cohune forest versus 203 kg N ha–1 in the High Bush. Litter biomass was exceptionally high in the Cohune Ridge (497 kg ha–1 dry matter) as compared to the High Bush (65 kg ha–1 dry matter) and other tropical forests. This is probably because of a low rate of decomposition in the Cohune Ridge palm forest. A substantial reserve of nitrogen is present in both forests' fallows, and this can in part be harvested by the small farmer for crop production.

Resumen Dos asociaciones boscosas (Palma Cohune y Matorral Alto) se estudiaron en relación a sus reservas y flujos de nutrimentos y sus posibilidades de aprovechamiento agricola. Se siguió la evolución del nitrógeno en el suelo y en la caida de hojarasca durante un año obteniéndose asi información sobre los procesos pedogenéticos en el barbecho del bosque.A través de muestreos destructivos se encontró que en la biomasa del bosque de Palma Cohune habían 690 kg N ha–1 y en el Matorral Alto solo 203 kg N ha–1. La biomasa de hojarasca era excepcionalmente alta en Palma Cohune alcanzando un valor de 497 kg materia seca ha–1; en el bosque de Matorral Alto la hojarasca era de 65 kg materia seca ha–1. Esto probablemente se deba a la baja velocidad de descomposición en el caso de la palma.Las reservas sustanciales encontradas en ambos barbechos para el nitrógeno podrían ser parcialmente utilizadas para la producción agrícola campesina.

The biomass formation ofAzolla was greatly enhanced by water of the River Ganga and by prevailing environmental conditions. It increased gradually from January to April (first maximum 2.409 g.m–2.day–1), declined during June (1.185 g.m–2.day–1), and reached a second its maximum during September (2.629 g.m–2.day–1). The biomass formation was related to the nutrient availability in the medium in a particular season (measured were: nitrate-N, available phosphorus, total suspended solids, and conductivity). The average annual production of 6.73 ton.ha–1.yr–1 is equivalent to the average production of 0.025 ton.ha–1.yr–1 phosphorus, 0.252 ton.ha–1.yr–1 nitrogen, and 1.57 ton.ha–1.yr–1 crude protein.  相似文献

Brown trout (Salmo trutta) population of a remote high mountain lake (Lake Redó, Pyrenees, 2240 m above sea level) were studied during autumn using hydroacoustic techniques. This acoustic technique was for the first time used on fish at such high altitude in Spain. Sampling using multimesh nets fish catches and echosounding recording were carried out in September 1998. Mean density of fish was estimated to be 1.82 fish per 1000 m3 (597 fish ha–1). The results exhibited mainly a littoral habitat, with the brown trout being preferentially in the 10–25 m deep layer, where the water was warmer and the richness and diversity of macroinvertebrates higher. The sampling by hydroacoustic technique found a length frequency range of fish higher than the multimesh gill nets but both of them estimated similar fish proportion for the common length range. The more frequent target strength (TS) for the population was –38 dB (TS range –37 to –39 dB). Good correlation was found between TS frequency distribution obtained by echosounding and that predicted by means of a model based on the log of the fish total length from multimesh gill nets captures.  相似文献

Aprostocetus vaquitarum (Wolcott) causes 78–91 percent mortality to eggs of Diaprepes abbreviatus (L.), under field conditions in southern Florida. In the laboratory, A. vaquitarum was reared on D. abbreviatus eggs at 25 °C, a photoperiod of 12:12 (L:D) and with abundant hosts, A. vaquitarum adult females lived around 15 days. Oviposition was significantly affected by the age of the host egg mass. Egg masses aged 0- to 3-day-old were accepted significantly better than those aged 4–6 days. The mean number of eggs deposited per female was around 53, with extreme values of 124 and 19 eggs per female. Using these data in combination with the sex ratio observed in the field (0.16) and the duration of the preimaginal stages, rm (0.168–0142 day−1), T (22.39–22.89 days), and R0 (43.03–25.81 females per female) were calculated.  相似文献

The effect of long-term (1983–1988) applications of crop residues (millet straw, 2–4 t ha-1 yr–1) and/or mineral fertilizer (30 kg N, 13 kg P and 25 kg K ha-1 yr-1) on uptake of phosphorus (P) and other nutrients, root growth and mycorrhizal colonization of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) was examined for two seasons (1987 and 1988) on an acid sandy soil in Niger. Treatments of the long-term field experiment were: control (–CR–F), mineral fertilizer only (–CR+F), crop residues only (+CR–F), and crop residues plus mineral fertilizer (+CR+F).In both years, total P uptake was similar for +CR–F and –CR+F treatments (1.6–3.5 kg P ha-1), although available soil P concentration (Bray I P) was considerably lower in +CR–F (3.2 mg P kg-1 soil) than in –CR+F (7.4) soil. In the treatments with mineral fertilizers (–CR+F; +CR+F), crop residues increased available soil P concentrations (Bray I P) from 7.4 to 8.9 mg kg-1 soil, while total P uptake increased from 3.6 to 10.6 kg P ha-1. In 1987 (with 450 mm of rainfall), leaf P concentrations of 30-day-old millet plants were in the deficiency range, but highest in the +CR+F treatment. In 1988 (699 mm), leaf P concentrations were distinctly higher, and again highest in the +CR+F treatment. In the treatments without crop residues (–CR–F; –CR+F), potassium (K) concentrations in the leaves indicated K deficiency, while application of crop residues (+CR–F; +CR+F) substantially raised leaf K concentrations and total K uptake. Leaf concentrations of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) were hardly affected by the different treatments.In the topsoil (0–30 cm), root length density of millet plants was greater for +CR+F (6.5 cm cm-3) than for +CR–F (4.5 cm cm-3) and –CR+F (4.2 cm cm-3) treatments. Below 30 cm soil depth, root length density of all treatments declined rapidly from about 0.6 cm cm-3 (30–60 cm soil depth) to 0.2 cm cm-3 (120–180 cm soil depth). During the period of high uptake rates of P (42–80 DAP), root colonization with vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi was low in 1987 (15–20%), but distinctly higher in 1988 (55–60%). Higher P uptake of +CR+F plants was related to a greater total root length in 0–30 cm and also to a higher P uptake rate per unit root length (P influx). Beneficial effects of crop residues on P uptake were primarily attributed to higher P mobility in the soil due to decreased concentrations of exchangeable Al, and enhancement of root growth. Mean biomass (153-1) and production (P) of fish in two small tributaries of the Paraná River (Paraná, Brazil) were 61 kg ha–1 and 48 kg ha–1 yr–1 in the Caracu River and 29 kg ha–1 and 26 kg ha–1 yr–1 in the Agua do Rancho River, respectively. Matrix correlation analysis revealed high positive correlations of both 153-2 and P to maximum depth and hiding places and, at a lower level of significance, to mean depth, pH and oxygen level. Lower 153-3 and P values were found in the Agua do Rancho River, whose valley has retained a more natural character, rich canopy and scarcity of macrophytes, but also lower conductivity and nitrogen and phosphate levels than those in the Caracu River.Address for correspondence  相似文献

Nitrogen and phosphorus budgets were developed forfour sub-catchments in the Richmond River catchmentfor two study years. The catchment is used for avariety of farming pursuits including dairying, beef,cropping, fruit, nuts, forestry, and sugar cane. Eachsub-catchment varies in hydrology, the proportion ofeach land use, and the population density whichenabled a unique opportunity to study fluxes andstorage associated with a variety of environmentalfactors. Total loadings entering each sub-catchmentvaried from 12 to 57 kg ha–1yr–1 fornitrogen and 0.25 to 6.6 kg ha–1yr–1 forphosphorus with little inter-annual variation.Averaged across the whole catchment, nitrogen fixation(47%) dominated the inputs; fertiliser (26%) andrainfall (21%) made up the next largest inputs.Fertiliser inputs dominated the phosphorus budget(65.5%); rainfall and manures making up 13% and 12%respectively. Produce dominated the outputs of bothnitrogen and phosphorus from the four sub-catchmentsbeing greater than the riverine export. The deliveryof nitrogen to catchment streams ranged from <1 to24% of the total inputs and the delivery of phosphorus to catchment streams ranged from <1 to 39%. Storage of phosphorus in catchment soils varied between –0.32 and 4.46 kg ha–1yr–1. Whendenitrification and volatilisation were estimated using data from other studies, storage of nitrogen ranged from 1 to 24 kg ha–1yr–1. Despite theepisodic nature of runoff in the sub-tropical RichmondRiver catchment, the magnitude of nutrient fluxes andstorage appear similar to other catchments of theworld which have mixed land use and relatively lowcatchment nutrient loadings.  相似文献

The effect of tree row species on the distribution of soil inorganic N and the biomass growth and N uptake of trees and crops was investigated beneath a Grevillea robustaA. Cunn. ex R. Br. (grevillea) tree row and Senna spectabilisDC. (senna) hedgerow grown with Zea mays L. (maize) and a sole maize crop, during one cropping season. The hypothesis was that a tree with a large nutrient uptake would have a greater competitive effect upon coexisting plants than a tree that takes up less and internally cycles nutrients. The field study was conducted on a kaolinitic Oxisol in the sub-humid highlands of western Kenya. Soil nitrate and ammonium were measured to 300 cm depth and 525 cm distance from the tree rows, before and after maize cropping. Ammonium concentrations were small and did not change significantly during the cropping season. There was > 8 mg nitrate kg–1 in the upper 60 cm and at 90–180 cm depth at the start of the season, except within 300 cm of the senna hedgerow where concentrations were smaller. During the season, nitrate in the grevillea-maize system only decreased in the upper 60 cm, whereas nitrate decreased at almost every depth and distance from the senna hedgerow. Inorganic N (nitrate plus ammonium) decreased by 94 kg ha–1 in the senna-maize system and 33 kg ha–1 in the grevillea-maize system.The aboveground N content of the trees increased by 23 kg ha–1 for grevillea and 39 kg ha–1 for senna. Nitrogen uptake by maize was 85 kg ha–1 when grown with grevillea and 65 kg ha–1 with senna. Assuming a mineralisation input of 50 kg N ha–1season–1, the decrease in inorganic soil N approximately equalled plant N uptake in the grevillea-maize system, but exceeded that in the senna-maize system. Pruning and litter fall removed about 14 kg N ha–1 a–1 from grevillea, and > 75 kg N ha–1 a–1 from senna. The removal of pruned material from an agroforestry system may lead to nutrient mining and a decline in productivity.  相似文献

We estimated the secondary production of Rhyacophila minora, Ameletus sp., and Isonychia bicolor in three acidic streams and one circumneutral stream in Randolph County, West Virginia. Quantitative benthic samples were collected monthly from these second-order streams from November 1990 to October 1991. Mean pH values in the acidic streams were 4.5, 4.8, and 4.8, and mean pH in the circumneutral stream was 6.7. Production estimates for Rhyacophia minora in the acidic streams were 49.6, 19.2, and 15.8 mg m–2 y–1. Production of R. minora in the circumneutral stream was 1.0 mg m–2 y–1. Ameletus sp. production estimates for the acidic streams were 144.8, 176.8, and 208.3 mg m–2 y–1. Ameletus sp. production in the circumneutral stream was 7.4 mg m–2 y–1. Secondary production of I. bicolor in the circumneutral stream was 116.6 mg m–2 y–1. No Isonychia were collected from the acidic streams. The higher production of R. minora and Ameletus sp. in the acidic streams may be associated with differences in macroinvertebrate community structure.  相似文献

The production of aboveground tissue of three alder species (Alnus crispa (Ait.) Pursh,A. rugosa (Du Roi) Spreng. andA. glutinosa (L) Gaertn.) on four sites ranged from 0.4 t ha–1 yr–1 to 4.0 t ha–1 yr–1 after four growing seasons. Large differences were observed among the four sites studied and among species. Soil nutrient levels affected the biomass production and foliar symptoms of P and Mg deficiency occurred withA. crispa andA. rugosa. Because of their poor aboveground biomass production (0.4–1.4 t ha–1 yr–1),A. crispa andA. rugosa should be used mainly as nurse trees. For its higher potential for biomass production (up to 4.0 t ha–1 yr–1), and its apparent higher ability to use P and Mg on deficient sites,A. glutinosa should be used preferably toA. crispa andA. rugosa for the production of biomass.  相似文献

The amount of nitrogen fixed byLeucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit was assessed on an Alfisol at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture located in southwestern Nigeria. Estimated by the difference method, nitrogen fixation of leucaena inoculated with Rhizobium strain IRc 1045 was 133 kg ha–1 in six months. Inoculation with Rhizobium strain IRc 1050 gave a lower nitrogen fixation of 76 kg ha–1. Fertilization with 40 and 80 kg N ha–1 inhibited nitrogen fixation by 43–76% and 49–71%, respectively. Estimates with the15N dilution method gave nitrogen fixation of 134 kg ha–1 in six months when leucaena was inoculated with Rhizobium strain IRc 1045 and 98 kg ha–1 for leucaena inoculated with Rhizobium strain IRc 1050. This nitrogen fixation represented 34–39% of the plant nitrogen. Inoculated leucaena derived 5–6% of its nitrogen from applied fertilizer and 56–54% from soil.  相似文献

Summary The plant species composition of the chaff piles of three species of harvester ant (Messor spp.) and the contribution of the chaff to the organic pool were studied from August 1985 to July 1987. There were distinct differences in the plant species composition of the chaff of the three species. We attribute this to the different diets of the three species, which reflect the relative sizes of their individuals and their foraging strategies. The amount of chaff accumulated varies greatly between the three species (Messor rugossus: 127–196 g · ha–1 · y–1;Messor ebeninus: 2823–4437 g · ha–1 · y–1;Messor arenarius: 2165–2535 g · ha–1 · y–1), although the number of nests per hectare is virtually the same. We found that the amount of chaff is related to the rate of activity and the size of the individuals of each of the three ant species. The total chaff accumulated during the study period was 19.2 kg · ha–1, which is an important contribution to the organic matter in the soil in the Negev desert ecosystem.  相似文献

The production rate ofEichhornia crassipes was stimulated by water of the river Ganga and by prevailing environmental conditions. It was highest in October (4.76 g.m–2.d–1) and was positively correlated with ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus in the water but negatively correlated with total alkalinity and transparency. The average annual production of 14.13 t.ha–1.a–1 is equivalent to the average production of 0.067 t.ha–1.a–1 phosphorus and 0.40 t.ha–1.a–1 nitrogen. The concentrations of total nitrogen and total phosphorus of the plant varied seasonally. They decreased with increasing production rate in summer and monsoon.  相似文献

Summary The N-balance method was employed to estimate N2 fixation in a field-grown, early cultivar of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp cv. IT 82-18) and groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L. cv. Chinese) using maize as reference plant. The maturity of all crops was well matched. Nitrogen derived from biological fixation was 101 kg ha–1 in groundnut and 201 kg ha–1 in cowpea, indicating that the two legumes could satisfy about 79% and 89%, respectively, of their N requirements from nodule symbiosis. Net N returns to soil in leguminous residues were 68 kg ha–1 for groundnut and 150 kg ha–1 for cowpea. Grain yields of maize succeeding maize and legumes during the same season showed marked differences (P<0.05) between maize-after-legumes, and maize-after-maize. Dry-matter yields were also significantly different (P<0.01) in a like manner. The application of five rates of N fertilizer, 0 to 120 kg (NH4)2SO4 ha–1, to maize indicated that at zero fertilizer-N, maize grain yields were 89% and 95% higher when grown after groundnut and cowpea than when preceded by maize, corresponding to 77% and 76% respectively of dry-matter yields. The N benefit of each legume to maize in the rotation was equivalent to 60 kg ha–1 of N fertilizer based on grain and dry-matter yields. About 27% and 60% of residue-N from cowpea and groundnut were utilised by the following maize crop, respectively. It was concluded that the proportions of N derived from decomposing leguminous residues by succeeding cereal crops during the first year of rotation are generally not high.
Resumen El método del equilibrio nitrogenado se empleó para estimar la fijación de N2 en campo de un cultuvar temprano de caupí (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp cv. IT 82-18) y de uno de maní (Arachis hypogaea L. cv. chinese) utilizando el maíz como cultivo de referencia. La maduración de los tres cultivos fue simultanea. El nitrógeno derivado de la fijación biológica fue de 101 kg/ha en maní y de 201 kg/ha en caupí, indicando que ambas leguminosas podían satisfacer cerca de un 79% y de un 89%, respectivamente, de sus requerimientos en N2 mediante la simbiosis con nódulos. Los residuos de las leguminosas significaron un aporte neto de N al suelo de 68 kg/ha para el maní y de 105 kg/ha para el caupí. Las cosechas de maíz que sucedieron a los cultivos tempranos de leguminosas y de maíz mostraron unas marcadas diferencias significatives tanto en producción de grano (P<0.05) como en producción de materia seca (P<0.01). La aplicación de cinco niveles de fertilización nitrogenada (de 0 a 120 kg/ha en forma de (NH4), SO4) indicó que al nivel 0 la producción de maíz en grano fue, respectivamente, un 89% y un 95% superior cuando el cultivo se realizó después de maní y de caupí, comparándolo con el rendimiento obtenido cuando el cultivo precedente fue maíz, dichos valores corresponden a una producción en materia seca de respectivamente, 77% y 76%. El beneficio aportado por las leguminosas en la rotación con maíz fue equivalente a un abonado nitrogenado de 60 kg/ha, calculado sobre la producción de grano y de materia seca. Cerca de 27% y del 60% del residuo nitrogenado de caupí y de maní, respectivamente, fueron utilizados por la siguient cosecha de maíz. Se concluyó que las proporciones de N derivadas de la descomposición de residuos de leguminosas asimilables por la siguiente cosecha de cereales no son elevadas.

Résumé La méthode du bilan d'azote a été employée pour estimer la fixation de l'azote par un cultivar initial de cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp cv. IT 82-18) et d'arachide (Arachis hypogaea L. cv. Chinese), le maïs servant de plante de référence. La maturité des différentes récoltes a été synchronisée. La quantité d'azote provenant de la fixation biologique a été de 101 kg ha–1 avec l'arachide et 201 kg ha–1 avec le cowpea, ce qui montre que les deux légumineuses peuvent, par fixation biologique, satisfaire environ 79 et 89% de leurs besoins en N. Le gain net du sol en N fourni par les résidus des légumineuses a été de 68 kg ha–1 dans le cas de l'arachide et 150 kg ha–1 dans celui du cowpea Le rendement en grain du maïs succédant au maïs et aux légumineuses au cours de la même saison présente des différences significatives (P<0,05) entre la succession légumineuses-maïs et maïs-maïs. Les rendements en matière sèche diffèrent eux aussi dans le même sens et de façon significative (P<0,01). L'application au maïs de cinq doses d'engreis azoté, allant de 0 à 120 kg ha–1, a montré qu'en l'absence d'engrais les rendements en grain du maïs sont 89% et 95% plus élevés après la culture d'arachide et de cowpea que dans le cas d'une succession maïs-maïs, et les rendements en matière sèche sont respectivement accrus de 77 et 76%. D'après les rendements en grain et en matière sèche, le gain net de N procuré au maïs par les deux légumineuses équivaut à 60 kh ha–1 d'engrais azoté. Environ 27% et 60% de l'azote résiduel provenant réspectivement du cowpea et de l'arachide sont utilisés par la culture secondaire de maïs. En conclusion, les proportions de l'azote fourni par la décomposition des résidus de légumineuses qui sont utilisées par une culture de céréales au cours de la première année de rotation sont peu élevées.

Quantitative samples of Gammarus pulex L. taken from a small Danish stream during 1975 showed mean annual population densities varying from 500 m–2 in early May to 5 500 m–2 in late September. The mean annual biomass was 1.5 g dry weight m–2. No discrete cohorts could be distinguished from the size frequency distributions. Annual production, estimated by the size-frequency method, was 3.9 g dry weight M-2 and P/B ratio was 2.6. The contribution to trout energetics may have been as much as 17%.  相似文献

To study the impact of high atmospheric nitrogen deposition on the leaching of NO3 and NH4+ beneath forest and heathland vegetation, investigations were carried out in adjacent forest and heathland ecosystems in Northwest Germany. The study area is subjected to high deposition of nitrogen ranging from 15.9 kg ha–1 yr–1 in bulk precipitation to 65.3 kg ha–1 yr–1 beneath a stand of Pinus sylvestris L. with NH4–N accounting for 70–80% of the nitrogen deposited. Considerable leaching of nitrogen compounds from the upper horizons of the soil, mostly as nitrate, occurred at most of the forest sites and below a mixed stand of Calluna vulgaris (L.) Hull. and Erica tetralix, but was low in a Betula pubescens Ehrh. swamp forest as well as beneath Erica tetralix L. wet heath and heath dominated by Molinia caerulea(L.) Moench. Ground water concentrations of both NO3–N and NH4–N did not exceed 1 mg L–1 at most of the sites investigated.  相似文献

Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is able to fix 20–60 kg N ha–1 under tropical environments in Brazil, but these amounts are inadequate to meet the N requirement for economically attractive seed yields. When the plant is supplemented with N fertilizer, N2 fixation by Rhizobium can be suppressed even at low rates of N. Using the 15N enriched method, two field experiments were conducted to compare the effect of foliar and soil applications of N-urea on N2 fixation traits and seed yield. All treatments received a similar fertilization including 10 kg N ha–1 at sowing. Increasing rates of N (10, 30 and 50 kg N ha–1) were applied for both methods. Foliar application significantly enhanced nodulation, N2 fixation (acetylene reduction activity) and yield at low N level (10 kg N ha–1). Foliar nitrogen was less suppressive to nodulation, even at higher N levels, than soil N treatments. In the site where established Rhizobium was in low numbers, inoculation contributed substantially to increased N2 fixation traits and yield. Both foliar and soil methods inhibited nodulation at high N rates and did not significantly increase bean yield, when comparing low (10 kg N ha–1) and high (50 kg N ha–1) rates applied after emergence. In both experiments, up to 30 kg N ha–1 of biologically fixed N2 were obtained when low rates of N were applied onto the leaves.  相似文献
