The aim of this study was to examine the effects of training at the same time of the day on the diurnal variations of anaerobic performances to provide some recommendations to adjust training hours with the time of the day of competitive events. Thirty participants underwent 8 weeks of lower-extremity progressive resistance training performed 3 times per week designed to promote muscular strength and power. These subjects were randomly assigned to a morning training group (MTG, 07:00-08:00 hours, n = 10), an evening training group (ETG, 17:00-18:00 hours, n = 10), and a control group (CG, completed all tests but did not train, n = 10). Performance in the squat jump, the countermovement jump, the Wingate and 1 repetition maximum (1RM) during leg extension, leg curl, and squat tests was recorded just before and 2 weeks after an 8-week course of regular training. For all the subjects, the morning and evening tests were scheduled at the same time of the day as for the morning and evening training sessions. Before training, the results indicated a significant increase in performance from morning to evening tests (ca. 2.84-17.55% for all tests) for all groups. After training, the diurnal variations in anaerobic performances were blunted in the MTG. In fact, there was no significant difference in muscular power or strength between morning and evening tests. However, these intradaily variations in anaerobic performances persisted in the ETG and CG. From a practical point of view, adaptation to strength training is greater at the time of the day at which training was scheduled than at other times.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of electrostimulation strength training (ES) and time-of-day on immune response and anaerobic performances during short-term maximal exercise. In randomized order, 24 active men divided into three groups: MTG (n=8): training times 07:00–08:00h; ETG (n=8): training times 17:00–18:00h; and CG (n=8) and were asked to perform a 30-s Wingate test (i.e. peak (PP), mean (MP)) and strength (1-RM) before (T0) and after four weeks of training (T1) at 08:00h and 18:00h. Our results showed that oral temperature, PP (p<0.05), MP (p<0.05), and Interleukine-6 levels (IL-6) (p<0.001) were significantly higher at 18:00h compared to 08:00h in all groups. However, 1-RM was not affected by the time-of-day (p>0.05). Likewise, IL-6 increased after exercise at T0 and T1 in CG, ETG, and MTG (p<0.001). Moreover, ES training leads an improvement in performances (p<0.05) with an increase in the tight circumference for the MTG (p<0.01) at the same time-of-training (08:00h) without affecting the immune response (p>0.05). In fact, the amplitude of variation was disappeared in MTG after ES. However, the ES did not affect the PP, MP, and 1-RM in ETG with no change in the tight circumference. A significant increase in IL-6 at the same time-of-training (p<0.05) was observed on ETG. For CG, no significant change was observed after ES compared with pre-training. In conclusion, ES training in the morning is a potent strategy to counteract the decrease in anaerobic performances without affecting inflammatory response compared to the evening training.  相似文献

This article focuses on physical performances after training at a specific time of day. To date, although the effect of time of day on aerobic performances appears to be equivocal, during anaerobic exercises, the effect of time of day has been well established with early morning nadirs and peak performances in the late afternoon. These diurnal rhythms can be influenced by several factors such as the regular training at a specific time of day. Indeed, regular training in the morning hours may increase the lower morning performances to the same or even higher level as their normal diurnal peak typically observed in the late afternoon by a greater increase of performance in the evening. However, regular training in the evening hours may increase the morning-evening (i.e., amplitude of the rhythm) difference by a greater increase of performance in the late afternoon. Therefore, adaptations to training are greater at the time of day at which training is regularly performed than at other times. Nevertheless, although modifications in resting hormones concentrations could explain this time-of-day specific adaptations, precise information on the underlying mechanisms is lacking.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine the supposed influence of pedal rate on the diurnal fluctuation of the time to exhaustion from high-intensity exercise. Eleven male cyclists performed three tests at 06:00 h and three at 18:00 h at a free pedal rate (FPR) and two imposed pedal rates (80% and 120% of the FPR). They performed the tests until exhaustion using a power output corresponding to 95% maximal power (Pmax). Time to exhaustion, rectal temperature, oxygen consumption (.VO2), M. quadriceps, vastus medialis, M. biceps femoris electromyographic Root Mean Square activity rise (RMS slope), and blood lactate concentration were measured. The mean time to exhaustion recorded at 18:00 h (270.6+/-104.8 sec) was greater than at 06:00 h (233.9+/-84.9 sec). The time to exhaustion was significantly greater when the pedal rate was imposed at 80% versus 120% FPR. The blood lactate concentration and absolute core temperature at the point of exhaustion were significantly higher during tests done at 18:00 h. There was no diurnal variation in core temperature increase, .VO2, and RMS slope. The time-of-day effect for every variable did not depend on pedal rate. Diurnal variations in maximal aerobic endurance cannot be explained by a change in aerobic metabolism or in muscular fatigue. The origin of the diurnal variation in the time to exhaustion is likely to lie in greater participation in anaerobic metabolism. Also, the influence of temperature on neuromuscular functioning as an explanation for the diurnal variation in performance cannot be excluded in this study. The hypothesis on the basis of which pedal rate would influence diurnal variations in time to exhaustion in cycling was not validated by this research.  相似文献

A consequence of simple velocity-based models is that, in response to light pulses, the circadian period should adjust inversely to phase. In addition, because of the interaction of circadian period and phase response, earlier circadian period changes should modify later circadian period changes. The literature contains few mentions of response curves of circadian period responses following light pulses. Rats were exposed to four pulses of light (60 minutes, 1000 lux) at the same circadian time, a minimum of 26 days apart; we assessed period responses and possible bias in the period-response curve. Modulation of circadian period following light-induced phase responses was examined by assessing the period of running wheel activity onset. Phase and circadian period were not consistently found to share an inverse relationship. Moreover, biases in initial period tended to be increased by the experimental protocol regardless of circadian time of pulse. Rats with a short initial (high-velocity) period had a lengthened period, while rats with a long initial period (low velocity) tended to have a reduce period. However, rats with a long initial period were phase delay biased, not phase advance biased. These results do not support a simple velocity model of the pacemaker. The present study sought to evaluate the inconsistencies previously observed regarding the predominance of continuous or interval training for improving fitness. The experimental design initially equated and subsequently maintained the same relative exercise intensity by both groups throughout the program. Twelve subjects were equally divided into continuous (CT, exercise at 50% maximal work) or interval (IT, 30 s work, 30 s rest at 100% maximal work) training groups that cycled 30 min day-1, 3 days.week-1, for 8 weeks. Following training, aerobic power (VO2max), exercising work rates, and peak power output were all higher (9-16%) after IT than after CT (5-7%). Vastus lateralis muscle citrate synthase activity increased 25% after CT but not after IT. A consistent increase in adenylate kinase activity (25%) was observed only after IT. During continuous cycling testing the CT group had reduced blood lactate (lab) levels and respiratory quotient at both the same absolute and relative (70% VO2max) work rates after training, while the IT group displayed similar changes only at the same absolute work rates. By contrast, both groups responded similarly during intermittent cycling testing with lower lab concentrations seen only at absolute work rates. These results show that, of the two types of training programs currently employed, IT produces higher increases in VO2max and in maximal exercise capacity. Nevertheless, CT is more effective at increasing muscle oxidative capacity and delaying the accumulation of lab during continuous exercise.  相似文献

Leucocyte cell counts and the phagocytic and chemotactic activities of neutrophil granulocytes were investigated in highly endurance-trained long-distance runners (n = 10) and triathletes (n = 10) during a moderate training period and compared with untrained subjects (n = 10) before and up to 24 h after a graded exercise to exhaustion on a treadmill. After exercise a leucocytosis was noted with a significant increase in lymphocyte (P < or = 0.01) and neutrophil (P < or = 0.01) counts in all groups. In neutrophils the number of ingested inert latex beads was significantly increased (P < or = 0.01) from 0.21 (SD 0.09) to 0.45 (SD 0.22) in controls, from 0.20 (SD 0.12) to 0.56 (SD 0.16) in long-distance runners and from 0.25 (SD 0.08) to 1.03 (SD 0.42) particles per cell in triathletes 24 h after exercise, compared with resting values. The capability of neutrophils to produce microbicidal reactive oxygen species fell (P < or = 0.05) immediately after exercise in all subjects and then increased by 36 (SD 8)%, 31 (SD 6)% and 19 (SD 9)% in controls, runners and triathletes respectively up to 24 h after exercise (P < or = 0.05) compared with pre-start values. Morningness-eveningness, time of day, and physical exercises have been shown to influence mood states. This study aimed to test whether impact of physical exercise on mood depends on time of day and chronotype. Ninety-four participants (age 32 ± 6 years; 34% females; weekly training volume 4 ± 1 hours) filled the Composite Scale of Morningness and reported their current mood using the UWIST Mood Adjective Checklist before and after a 60-min long CrossFit training session which took part in the morning (beginning at 6:30 or 7:45) or in the evening (beginning at 19:30 or 20:45). In this quasi-experiment the measurements were taken by the occasion of the participants’ usual training, in their preferred hours. There were only a few evening-types in the studied sample, while morning and intermediate chronotypes were over-represented. Participation in CrossFit training resulted in mood improvement consisting of increase in energetic arousal (η2 = 0.29) and hedonic tone (η2 = 0.47) and reduction of tense arousal (η2 = 0.14), all significant at p = 0.001. Furthermore, CrossFit training during morning hours boosted mood in the intermediate/evening chronotype group to the levels observed in morning chronotypes (η2 = 0.29, p < 0.05, for the three-way interaction effect). We conclude that participation in intense physical exercise, such as CrossFit training, may allow compensation for the negative effects of non-optimal time of day on experienced moods, particularly in the case of neither/evening-types.  相似文献

The present study examined whether mild restraint stress occurring at the same time each day would entrain an anticipatory peak in the circadian plasma corticosterone rhythm associated with the time of stress. Rats were stressed by tube restraint for 2 h in the morning on 23 consecutive days, and plasma corticosterone concentrations were measured at 4h intervals over the next 2 days. Plasma corticosterone patterns were similar in control and restrained rats, and no anticipatory corticosterone peak occurred in stressed rats before the time when stress would have occurred. However, periodic regression analysis of the data indicated that timed stress did advance the acrophase of the circadian corticosterone rhythm by 1.7 h. This effect was minimal and could not explain the anticipatory rise in corticosterone concentrations seen in restricted feeding paradigms. Thus, it is unlikely that any stress associated with restricted feeding entrains corticosterone rhythms to anticipate the time of feeding, and some aspect of feeding per se is likely involved in producing the corticosterone peak that anticipates the time of restricted feeding.  相似文献

Liver glycogen levels were measured in rats with hippocampal lesions and in control animals. Liver glycogen levels were determined each week for the first ten postoperative weeks and eight months postoperatively. It was found that after one week, control animals and animals with hippocampal lesions were not significantly different in liver glycogen levels. By the end of the second week the group with hippocampal lesions was significantly higher than the control animals. This variation pattern continued during the third week. By the end of the third week the animals with hippocampal ablations had reached their highest level, which remained unchanged throughout the rest of the series. No significant changes in liver glycogen levels were obtained in the control animals. Liver glycogen levels were then measured in normal rats and rats with hippocampal lesions maintained on a diurnal rhythm of twelve light hours followed by twelve dark hours. One month postoperatively, rats with hippocampal lesions had a significantly higher liver glycogen level at all time periods as compared with normal animals. Both groups of rats showed the diurnal pattern of higher levels of liver glycogen in the beginning of the light phase and lower levels of liver glycogen in the beginning of the dark phase. The observed variations may be explained in terms of alterations in known homeostatic mechanisms controlling liver glycogen levels.  相似文献

Exercise at a heart rate corresponding to 30% VO2max for 15 min was associated with an increase in the volume of bleeding time blood from a mean of 133 microliters before exercise to a mean of 218 microliters during and immediately after the exercise. There was similarly an increase in thromboxane B2 production from 6.40 nmol.l-1 before to 11.50 nmol.l-1. Most subjects also showed an increase in the length of the bleeding time and in the production of bleeding time 6-keto-PGF1 alpha. The extent of increase in the bleeding time and in production of 6-keto-PGF1 alpha was quite variable, with subjects showing the largest increases in bleeding time also demonstrating the greatest increases in 6-keto-PGF1 alpha (r = 0.76, P = 0.004). The ingestion of aspirin before exercise markedly inhibited basal bleeding time thromboxane B2 production and blocked the exercise-associated increments in thromboxane B2 and 6-keto-PGF1 alpha production. While the aspirin itself increased the length of the bleeding time, there was not any further increase associated with exercise. In contrast to the effects of acute short-term exercise, long-distance running was associated with a significant decrease in bleeding time, but no change in bleeding time blood volume, bleeding time thromboxane B2, or bleeding time 6-keto-PGF1 alpha. The results show that acute low-level exercise can be associated with significant changes in the volume of blood oozing from a bleeding time incision and in the amount of thromboxane production stimulated at the incisional site. Following exhaustive exercise of long duration, the above changes are no longer seen.  相似文献

We studied the effect of three factors on the induction of flowering in Arabidopsis thaliana , i.e. vernalization, day length and DNA demethylation. Seven natural late flowering genotypes and 13 late flowering mutants were used in the experiments. The effect of the vernalization and the short day (SD) was uniform in all genotypes used, resulting in shortening (vernalization) or extension of the period before the appearance of the first flower primordia. On the other hand, the effect of the demethylating agent (5-azacytidine [5-azaC]) was not uniform in the genotypes used. In all natural late genotypes (except Lu-1 ), the shortening of the flowering time (FT) after 5-azaC treatment was observed. On the contrary, only five mutants – dl , pm , M63 , M73 and fca-1 – showed a shortening of the FT, while in the majority of the late flowering mutants, no significant response (earlier flowering) was found. The different response to the vernalization and demethylation treatment in late flowering mutants shows the possibility of two different pathways leading to the flowering, both of which are regulated by DNA demethylation. The different response of natural and induced late flowering genotypes after 5-azaC treatment shows that genes that play a role in flower development are of a different nature.  相似文献

The aim of this investigation was to determine the effect of exercise training on the levels of plasma cytokines and acute phase reactants in the early post acute myocardial infarction (AMI) period. Sixty patients were enrolled into this three-week cardiac rehabilitation study. The mean time from AMI was 7.08 +/- 1.60 days, and the patient mean age was 60 +/- 10 years. Subjects were randomly assigned to one of the two groups: the control group treated with standard measures, and the group with additional regular moderate-intensity exercise training. Physical activity was based on the ergospirometry test results. Apart from clinical follow-up and routine laboratory analysis we determined the levels of plasma cytokines: tumor necrosis factor (TNF-alpha), soluble TNF-alpha receptor 1 (TNF-alphaSR1), interleukin (IL)-8, IL-10, and acute phase reactants: high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and fibrinogen. The obtained results confirmed the hypothesis that the early post AMI period is an inflammatory state the intensity of which gradually decreases with standard treatment during the first month after AMI, while including patients into early exercise training improves their inflammatory profile by decreasing the level of acute phase reactant and TNF-alphaSR1.  相似文献

Abstract The potato psyllid, Bactericera (= Paratrioza) cockerelli (?ulc) (Hemiptera: Triozidae), is a major pest of potato. Studies were conducted to determine the age at which both males and females reach reproductive maturity and the effect of age and time of day on sex attraction. Adult B. cockerelli reach reproductive maturity within 48 h post‐eclosion, with females being mature on the day of eclosion and males at 1 day post‐eclosion. Oviposition generally began 2 days after mating but was delayed when females mated within 2 days post‐eclosion. In laboratory olfactometer assays, the age of females used as odor sources and the age of males assayed to these odors did not affect sex attraction, with both younger (1–4‐day‐old) and older (8–10‐day‐old) males being attracted to females, regardless of female age (1–4‐day‐old or 8–10‐day‐old). Males assayed to live females at different times during the photophase (between 8:00 and 20:00 hours) were attracted to females between 11:00 and 17:00 hours, showing a temporal periodicity in sex attraction with B. cockerelli at least during the photophase.  相似文献

The effect of temperature variation on biomethanation at high altitude   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The aim of the current study was to examine effects of daily temperature variations on the performance of anaerobic digestion. Forced square-wave temperature variations (between 11 and 25, 15 and 28, and 19 and 32 degrees C) were imposed on a bench-scale digester using a mixture of llama-cow-sheep manure in a semi-continuous process. The volumetric biogas production rate, methane yield, and the volatile solid reductions were compared with the results obtained from anaerobic digestion (AD) at constant temperatures. The forced cyclic variations of temperature caused large cyclic variations in the rate of gas production and the methane content. As much as 94-97% of the daily biogas was obtained in the 12h half-cycle at high temperature. The values for volumetric biogas production rate and methane yield increased at higher temperatures. The average volumetric biogas production rate for cyclic operation between 11 and 25 degrees C was 0.22Ld(-1)L(-1) with a yield of 0.07m3CH4kg(-1) VS added (VSadd), whereas for operation between 15 and 29 degrees C the volumetric biogas production rate increased by 25% (to 0.27Ld(-1)L(-1) with a yield of 0.08m3CH4kg(-1) VSadd). In the highest temperature region a further increase of 7% in biogas production was found and the methane yield was 0.089m(3)CH(4)kg(-1) VSadd. The employed digester showed an immediate response when the temperature was elevated, which indicates a well-maintained metabolic capacity of the methanogenic bacteria during the period of low temperature. Overall, periodic temperature variations appear to give less decrease in process performance than a priori anticipated.  相似文献

This study evaluated the effect of time of day and temperature measurement site on core temperature response to exercise. Six trained cyclists performed a 1 h cycling exercise at a fixed power-output of 160 W in a controlled environment (ambient temperature of 21.5±1.6 °C and relative humidity of 31±6%) at batyphase +2 h (08:00 h) and acrophase +2 h (20:00 h) of their estimated circadian temperature rhythm; corresponding respectively to the heat gain and heat loss mode phases. Throughout the exercise, rectal and gastro-intestinal temperature data were collected. A two-way ANOVA was applied and a common nonlinear logistic-type function dependant on three parameters (asymptote, xmid and scale) was used to fit collected data. ANOVA only indicated a time of day effect without interaction with exercise duration. A nonlinear mixed-effect model allowed further analysis of temperature kinetics. The model indicated a higher theoretical increase in temperature at the end of morning exercise compared to the evening session. However, the circadian difference observed at rest persists throughout the exercise. Theoretical asymptotic temperature values at the end of the exercise and scale values (inversely proportional to the slope) are higher for the rectal measurement site than for the gastro-intestinal measurement. The model proposed offers a solution for refining the study of individual core temperature response to prolonged exercise. The main advantage is that it takes into consideration intra- and inter-individual variability in temperature kinetics.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of combined aerobic and resistance training on abdominal fat. Our participants in the study consisted of thirty obese women. They were separated into three groups: a control group (n=10), an aerobic training group (n=10) and a combined training group (n=10). The aerobic training group was composed of 60-70% HRmax (intensity), 60 minutes a day (duration) for 6 days a week (frequency). The combined training group was separated into resistance training (3 days a week, Mon, Wed, Fri) and the aerobic training (3 days a week, Tue, Thu, Sat). The levels for abdominal fat volume were measured by determining the subcutaneous fat volume (SFV), visceral fat volume (VFV), and VFV/SFV by CT (computed tomography). The VO(2max) was significantly (p<0.05) increased in both groups. The subcutaneous fat and visceral fat levels were decreased in the combined training group more than in the aerobics training group. Also, the lean body mass (LBM) was significantly increased only in the combined training group. In addition, the total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL-C were significantly (p<.05) decreased and the HDL-C was significantly (p<.05) increased in both groups. In conclusion, our results observed that combined training decreased abdominal subcutaneous fat and visceral fat more than aerobic training only.  相似文献
