An introduction is presented to a taxonomic evaluation of rich cultivated and herbarium material of the genusTaraxacum from the Caucasus. Sources of the material, a survey of localities, and a preliminary account of the sections and species groups ofTaraxacum described from the Caucasus are given. The introduction is followed by a monograph ofT. sect.Porphyrantha, a section shown (contrary to the original conception and some literature data) to be endemic to the Caucasus. Six new species are described belonging to the section divided in two subsections, subsect.Porphyrantha and subsect.Haemantha, viz.T. pseudoporphyranthum, T. vepallidum, T. haemanthum, T. ignivomum, T. exstinctum andT. deminutum. Lectotypes are selected forT. porphyranthum Boiss. andT. pseudoroseum ?i?kin.  相似文献

Differences in colours of male strobili, originally encountered in races ofPinus mugo, are found among other pine species too: Species of subsect.Cembrae flower bright red, whereas in subsect.Cembroides yellowgreen is dominant. Recently, blue and grey-blue male flowers have been discovered inP. engelmannii from Mexico,P. palustris, P. elliotti andP. densa from Florida. These flower colour differences apparently reflect some species relationships.

Three novelties inCuphea sectionMelvilla subsect.Pachycalyx are described from Brazil;C. andersonii andC. cylindracea from Pará, andC. sabulosa from Amazonas. An annotated key to the 47 species ofCuphea sectionMelvilla is provided, the first since the 1903 monograph of the family, which then included 27 species in the section. The key identifies those species ofCuphea with thick, dorsally convex, red- or yellow-tubed flowers distributed from Mexico to Argentina.  相似文献

We present a comprehensive phylogeny derived from nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) for 214 samples representing 98 species and five varieties, including 44 species and five varieties native to China. Our collection of 25 species and five varieties (44 samples) covering all five sections of the genus (Comber) distributed in China also were included in the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) database. This study incorporates previous research with an emphasis on Chinese species, including the controversial subsection, Sinomartagon 5c Comber. In the phylogenetic tree obtained by maximum parsimony (PAUP) and maximum likelihood (RAxML) analyses, the samples were divided into four major groups. Our results suggest that the subsection (subsect.) 5c Comber should be classified into the true subsect. 5c and the section (sect.) Lophophorum. And the latter was divided into three subsections (subsect. Lophophorum I, subsect. Lophophorum II, and subsect. Lophophorum III). Based on molecular phylogenetic analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization, we report that L. henryi and L. rosthornii are closely related, and we propose their classification into subsect. Leucolirion 6a. Our results support Comber’s subdivision of sect. Leucolirion, which was primarily based on bulb color. Chinese species were divided into five sections: sect. Martagon, sect. Archelirion, sect. Leucolirion, sect. Sinomartagon, and sect. Lophophorum. These findings contribute to our understanding of the phylogeny, origin, and classification of Lilium.  相似文献

The assembly of Mediterranean pines in the sense ofMirov is inhomogeneous in respect to morphological, geographical and evolutionary affinities. Considering new or neglected characters (vegetative and particularly reproductive, cone scales, apophyses, mucros, seeds: Figs. 1–3) in extant populations and fossils, three groups are recognized. The group of coast and island pines extends from the Canary islands to the Himalaya region and is closely related to Caribbean and C. American taxa. This complex evidently has originated from haploxyl ancestors of sect.Parrya during the Mesozoic (Upper Jurassic/Lower Cretaceous) in the NW. Tethys area (Fig. 13).P. rzedowskii can be regarded as an extant survivor of this first phase of differentiation. The extremely variableP. canariensis (together withP. roxburghii in sect.Sula) marks a transitional phase towards the more advanced diploxyl species of sect.Pinea (withP. pinea, P. halepensis &P. brutia, and subsect.Oocarpae) and sect.Pinaster (withP. pinaster, etc.) (Figs. 4–12).—The second group consists of diploxyl mountain pines from the areas surrounding the Mediterranean. They are classified as members of the Eurasiatic sect.Pinus subsect.Sylvestres, have differentiated along the northern Parathetys area, and exhibit close links with E. Asiatic taxa. The third group includes the haploxyl mountain pinesP. cembra andP. peuce which can be regarded as western outposts of the circumpacific centred sect.Strobus with a pre-Tertiary origin.—As an appendix, an improved classification scheme is presented for the pine groups discussed.  相似文献

A new species of Sauvagesia is described and illustrated under the name Sauvagesia paniculata. This new species is morphologically similar to the acicular-leaved species of the subsect. Vellozianae. However, S. paniculata can be clearly differentiated from the other acicular-leaved species by the paniculate inflorescence. Other diagnostic characters of S. paniculata include the shorter pedicel and longer leaves. This new species seems to be narrowly endemic to the “campo rupestre” vegetation in the Esbarrancado mountain range of Mucugê, in the Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil.  相似文献

SectionLinopsis of the genusLinum is the largest and probably the most widespread of the five commonly recognized sections. Using a number of traits, but especially heterostyly, style union, development of false septa in the fruit, pollen morphology, and chromosome number, together with petal pigmentation, number of floral parts, and stigma shape, the section is divided into five subsections:Dichrolinum, with one series;Halolinum with one;Linopsis, with four;Keniense, with one; andRigida, with two. Of these, subsect.Keniense and two series are new, the remaining four subsections and four series are published in a new rank. The inferred relationships of all of the groups and the general distribution of each are discussed. The section ranges from southern Europe and the Mediterranean region to India, eastern and southern Africa and throughout much of North and South America. The primitive species of the section are believed to be in the Mediterranean region.  相似文献

Psathyrella hypertropicalis, a new species, is described from a high mountain (Cofre de Perote) in the State of Veracruz, Mexico above the subtropical zone. This species is intermediate betweenP. velutina of the temperate regions andP. sepulchralis from the subtropical regions of Mexico. A list of the 26 species ofPsathyrella of Mexico is presented, of which 21 are from the tropics and subtropics, three from the temperate regions (P. velutina, P. spadicea, andP. hypertropicalis), and two with a broad distribution (P. candolleana andP. disseminata). Eleven are only known from Mexico.  相似文献

Rhododendron kuomeianum Y.H. Chang, J. Nielsen & Y.P. Ma, a new species of Rhododendron (Ericaceae) within subsect. Maddenia in sect. Rhododendron from Yiliang County, NE Yunnan, China, is described and illustrated. The new species is similar to R. valentinianum, but it can be easily distinguished by its sparse scales on the abaxial surface of the leaf blade, fewer flowers per inflorescence and white corolla with pale red margins. There are also differences in the widths of calyx lobes, leaf blade shape and indumentum characteristics of the petiole between the new species and Rhododendron linearilobum. We confirmed that R. kuomeianum is a new species closely related to R. valentinianum and R. changii with phylogenomic studies of 10 species within this subsection based on restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (RAD-seq) data. These phylogenomic analyses also clarified additional taxonomic problems in this subsection previously raised by morphological analysis. Our findings make a strong case for using next-generation sequencing to explore phylogenetic relationships and identify new species, especially in plants groups with complicated taxonomic problems.  相似文献
