The review of the methods for obtaining the runaway electron beams in the gas discharge is performed. The new method is offered, using which the beam is first formed in a narrow gap (∼1 mm) between the cathode and the grid and then it is accelerated by the field of the plasma column of the anomalous self-sustained discharge in the main gap (10–20 mm long). The electron beams with an energy of about 10 keV and current density of 103 A/cm2 at a molecular nitrogen pressure of up to 100 Torr have been obtained experimentally. The results of research of the UV nitrogen laser with an excitation via runaway electron beam and radiation of energy of ∼1 mJ are given. The UV nitrogen laser generation with the energy of ∼1 mJ has been obtained by the runaway electron beams.  相似文献

The influence of magnetic fields on hatching and chromatin state of brine shrimp, Artemia sp., was investigated. Dry Artemia cysts were exposed to a magnetic field of intensity 25 mT for 10 min. The magnetic field was applied in different variants: constant field, rotating field of different directions (right-handed and left-handed) and different magnet polarization. The effect of ultra wideband pulse radiation and microwave radiation was also investigated. The energy density on the surface of object exposed to ultra wideband pulse radiation was 10−2, 10−3, 10−4, 10−5 and 10−6 W/cm2, the power of microwave radiation was 10−4 and 10−5 W/cm2, exposure time - 10 s. After incubation of the cysts for 48 hours in sea water the hatching percentage of Artemia from exposed cysts was higher than in controls. The number of heterochromatin granules was significantly higher in the nauplia (newborn larvae of Artemia) developed from cysts that had been exposed to magnetic and electromagnetic fields. The data obtained demonstrate an increase in percentage hatching of Artemia cysts after treatment with magnetic and electromagnetic fields and chromatin condensation in nauplia. We have also shown different effects of right-handed and left-handed rotating magnetic fields on these processes.  相似文献

Results are presented from experimental and theoretical studies of the efficiency of using a CO2 laser to create a high-power source of 13- to 14-nm EUV radiation for lithography. For a laser intensity of ∼2 × 1011 W/cm2, a conversion efficiency of k EUV ≃ 1.5% was achieved on a plane solid Sn target. The calculated gas dynamics and population kinetics of Sn plasma ions agree qualitatively with experimental results.  相似文献

X-ray diagnostics of the interaction of femtosecond laser pulses with intensities of 1016–1018 W/cm2 with CO2 clusters and frozen nanosize water particles is carried out. The stage of cluster expansion and the formation of a plasma channel, which governs the parameters of the formed X-ray radiation source and accelerated ion flows, is studied. The measurements are based on recording spatially resolved X-ray spectra of H- and He-like oxygen ions. Utilization of Rydberg transitions for spectra diagnostics makes it possible to determine plasma parameters on a time scale of t ∼ 10 ps after the beginning of a femtosecond pulse. The role of the rear edge of the laser pulse in sustaining the plasma temperature at a level of ∼100 eV in the stage of a nonadiabatic cluster expansion is shown. The analysis of the profiles and relative intensities of spectral lines allows one to determine the temperature and density of plasma electrons and distinguish the populations of “thermal” ions and ions that are accelerated up to energies of a few tens of kiloelectronvolts. It is shown that the use of solid clusters made of frozen nanoscale water droplets as targets leads to a substantial increase in the number of fast He-like ions. In this case, however, the efficiency of acceleration of H-like ions does not increase, because the time of their ionization in plasma exceeds the time of cluster expansion.  相似文献

Arrangement and results of experiments on the excitation of the (E m = 93.125 keV, J p = 7/2+, T 1/2 = 44.3 s) and (E m = 88.034 keV, J p = 7/2+, T 1/2 = 39.6 s) isomeric states of Ag107 and Ag109 nuclei under the action of X-ray emission in a hot (T e ∼0.5 keV) dense plasma produced by a laser pulse with the energy ∼9 J, intensity ∼1.2 × 1018 W/cm2, and duration 0.82 ps on the SOKOL-P facility are described. The experimentally determined half-life of the isomeric states agrees satisfactorily with the half-life of the Ag107m and Ag109m isomers, and their number N m ∼ 6.9 × 104 agrees with the qualitative estimate N m ∼ 2.8 × 104, obtained within the refined model of the physical processes in laser plasma.  相似文献

An analytic model of the generation of characteristic X radiation under vacuum heating of electrons at the surface of a massive target by a p-polarized nonrelativistic femtosecond laser pulse is considered. The results of calculations satisfactorily describe the measured data on the output of K α radiation generated by laser pulses with a wavelength of 1.24 μm and peak intensities of 5 × 1016–2 × 1017 W/cm2, incident at an angle of 45°.  相似文献

A novel method for visualization of the process of interaction of high-power energy fluxes with various surfaces is proposed. The possibility of the dynamic visualization of a surface covered with a ∼3-cm-thick plasma layer with a linear density of ∼1016 cm−2 is demonstrated experimentally. A scheme of intracavity shadowgraphy of phase objects with the use of a laser projection microscope is developed. Shadow images illustrating the development of the plasma torch of an erosion capillary discharge in air are presented.  相似文献

Ion beam acceleration is simulated using a one-dimensional 1D2P PIC code. The dependences of the maximum energy and width of the energy spectrum of the generated ion beams on the duration and intensity of laser radiation, as well as on the target parameters (thickness and number of layers, types and densities of atoms), are investigated. The optimal target configuration at which the energy of the accelerated ions is maximum (5–160 MeV for intensities of 5 × 1018 −5 × 1020 W/cm2) is found. The optimal target configuration is shown to depend on the intensity and be independent of the laser pulse duration.  相似文献

Results are presented for experimental studies of the plasma glow in a high-current pulsed magnetron discharge by using a high-speed optical frame camera. It is found that the discharge plasma is inhomogeneous in the azimuthal direction. The plasma bunches rotate with a linear velocity of ∼1 cm/μs in the direction of electron Hall drift, and their number is proportional to the discharge current. Plasma inhomogeneities in the form of plasma jets propagate in the form of plasma jets from the cathode region toward the anode. It is shown analytically that the formation of inhomogeneities is caused by the necessity to transfer high-density electron current across the magnetic field.  相似文献

A pulsed time-of-flight refractometer was developed and tested to determine the mean plasma density in the T-11M tokamak by measuring the propagation time of nanosecond microwave pulses in plasma. Later, it was also proposed to use such an instrument to measure and control the mean plasma density in the ITER tokamak by probing the plasma with an extraordinary wave, the electric field of which is perpendicular to the magnetic field in plasma, in the transparency window at frequencies of 50–100 GHz. To avoid the effect of the density profile shape on the measurement results in the nonlinear mode of refractometer operation (near the cutoff), a system operating at two different probing frequencies was developed and tested. Such a system provides two values of the time delay, which can be used to estimate the peaking factor of the density distribution α and correctly determine the linear density 〈Nl〉, regardless of the density profile (assuming a smooth density profile of the form of N(ρ) = N(0)(1 − ρ2)α, where N(0) is the central plasma density and ρ = r/a is the normalized plasma radius). The first experiments on density measurements in the FTU tokamak performed with this refractometer are described, and results from these experiments are presented. The formation of a thin dense plasma layer in the zone of a strong magnetic field (the so-called MARFE layer) at a relatively low (for FTU) plasma density of ∼6 × 1019 m−3 was detected. The thickness of this layer, determined from the refractometry data, agrees well with the data obtained using a digital camera.  相似文献

Distribution of matter in the discharge channel formed upon a nanosecond electrical explosion of a single wire in air and vacuum was studied experimentally. Simultaneous use of optical, UV, and X-ray diagnostics made it possible to distinguish qualitatively different regions of the discharge channel, such as the current-carrying layers and the region occupied by a weakly conducting cold plasma. Several series of experiments with 25-μm-diameter 12-mm-long wires made of different materials were performed. The charging voltage and the current amplitude were varied in the ranges of U 0 = 10–20 kV and I max ∼ 5–10 kA, respectively. Explosion regimes with a current pause and with and without current interruption, as well as with wire preheating in air and vacuum, were studied. Shadow and schlieren images of the discharge channel were obtained using optical probing at the second harmonic of a YAG: Nd+3 laser (λ = 0.532 μm, τ ∼ 10 ns). In the experiments carried out in vacuum, X-ray images of the discharge channel were also obtained using an X-pinch as a point source of probing radiation and UV images were recorded using a four-frame MCP camera.  相似文献

Methane and other larger hydrocarbons have been proposed as possible greenhouse gases on early Mars. In this work we explore if volcanic processes may have been a source for such molecules based on theoretical and experimental considerations. Geologic evidence and numerical simulations indicate that explosive volcanism was widely distributed throughout Mars. Volcanic lightning is typically produced in such explosive volcanism. Therefore this geologic setting was studied to determine if lightning could be a source for hydrocarbons in volcanic plumes. Volcanic lightning was simulated by focusing a high-energy infrared laser beam inside of a Pyrex reactor that contained the proposed volcanic gas mixture composed of 64% CH4, 24% H2, 10% H2O and 2% N2, according to an accretion model and the nitrogen content measured in Martian meteorites. The analysis of products was performed by gas chromatography coupled to infrared and mass spectroscopy. Eleven hydrocarbons were identified among the products, of which acetylene (C2H2) was the most abundant. A thermochemical model was used to determine which hydrocarbons could arise only from volcanic heat. In this case, acetylene and ethylene are formed at magmatic temperatures. Our results indicate that explosive volcanism may have injected into the atmosphere of early Mars ∼6×1012 g yr−1 of acetylene, and ∼2×1012 g yr−1 of 1,3-butadiyne, both produced by volcanic lightning, ∼5×1011 g yr−1 of ethylene produced by volcanic heat, and 1013 g yr−1 of methane.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to obtain experimental data depending on the properties of calcium stores and SERCAs, to analyse these data in terms of the models based on simulation of the cellular compartments as communicating vessels, and to relate this way the data to the above properties. The main characteristics of the stores and corresponding SERCAs have been estimated. Calcium content in the DTS is ∼1.5 × 106 ions per cell, that in the acidic stores, ∼0.64 × 106 ions per cell. The rate constant of background calcium leakage from the DTS is ∼0.0033 s−1, that from the acidic stores, ∼0.1 s−1. The background activity of SERCA2b is ∼0.22 × 106 s−1 ions per cell, that of SERCA3, ∼2.5 × 106 s−1 ions per cell. The properties of both calcium stores and the SERCAs and the characteristics found might be related to physiological or pathological state of the cells.  相似文献

Reaction centers from the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides were oriented in phospholipid interfacial layers adsorbed to a Teflon film separating two electrolyte-filled compartments of a Teflon cell. Light-induced voltage changes were measured as a function of time across electrodes immersed in the cell compartments. The experimental system is characterized both experimentally and theoretically to relate the measured signals to the light-induced displacement currents in the reaction centers. Mathematical relations between the measured signals and the distances and geometries of the charge-transfer reactions are derived. At pH 8.0 the reaction centers were found to be oriented with ∼60% of the population oriented with the donor facing the aqueous phase. The density of the reaction centers in the layer was ∼1011 cm−2, which is close to that found in the native system. Reconstitution of the secondary quinone, Q B , in 90% of the RCs was achieved with an ∼100-fold excess of ubiquinone in the vesicle preparation. Received: 1 July 1997/Revised: 23 June 1998  相似文献

Hot plasmas can be generated by fast and intense laser pulses ablating solids placed in vacuum. A Nd:Yag laser operating at the fundamental and second harmonics with 9-ns pulses (maximum energy of 900 mJ) focused on metallic surfaces produces high ablation yields of the order of μg/pulse and dense plasma that expands adiabatically at supersonic velocity along the normal to the target surface. The plasma emits neutral and charged particles. Charge states up to 10+ have been measured in heavy elements ablated with intensities of the order of 1010 W/cm2. The ion temperature of the plasma is evaluated from the ion energy distributions measured with an ion energy analyzer. The electron temperature is measured through Faraday cups placed at the end of long drift tubes by using time-of-flight technique. The neutral temperature is measured with a special mass quadrupole spectrometer placed along the normal to the target surface. The plasma temperature increases with the laser pulse intensity. The ion temperature reaches values of the order of 400 eV, the electron temperature is of the order of 1 keV for hot electrons and 0.1 eV for thermal electrons, and the neutral temperature is of the order of 200 eV. The experimental apparatus, the diagnostic techniques, and the procedures for the plasma temperature characterization will be presented and discussed in detail. We have investigated whether transient permeabilization caused by the application of pulsed electric field would give rise to transient changes in the potato tissue viscoelastic properties. Potato tissue was subjected to nominal field strengths (E) ranging from 30 to 500 V/cm, with a single rectangular pulse of 10−5, 10−4, or 10−3 s. The changes on the viscoelastic properties of potato tissue during pulsed electric fields (PEF) were monitored through small amplitude oscillatory dynamic rheological measurements. The elastic (G′) and viscous moduli (G″) were measured every 30 s after the delivery of the pulse and the loss tangent change (tan-δ) was calculated. The results were correlated with measurements of changes on electrical resistance during the delivery of the pulse. Results show a drastic increase of tan-δ in the first 30 s after the application of the pulse, followed by a decrease 1 min after pulsation. This response is strongly influenced by pulsing conditions and is independent of the total permeabilization achieved by the pulse. Our results, supported by similar measurements on osmotically dehydrated control samples, clearly show that PEF causes a rapid change of the viscoelastic properties of the tissue that could be attributed to a partial loss in turgor pressure. This would be an expected consequence of electroporation. The recovery of tan-δ to values similar to those before pulsation strongly suggests recovery of cell membrane properties and turgor, pointing at reversible permeabilization of the cells. A slight increase of stiffness traduced by a negative change of tan-δ after application of certain PEF conditions may also give an indication of events occurring on cell wall structure due to stress responses. This study set the basis for further investigations on the complex cell stress physiology involving both cell membrane functional properties and cell wall structure that would influence tissue physical properties upon PEF application.  相似文献

Demineralization (DM) from crab shell (CS) waste was carried out using a lactic acid-producing bacterium, Lactobacillus paracasei subsp. tolerans KCTC-3074 for 7 days at 25, 30, and 35°C. DM rates were 89∼92% and slightly affected by temperature. DM was also performed for four particle-sized shell samples (0.84∼3.35, 3.35∼10, 10∼20, and 20∼35 mm) with 10% inoculum, 5% shell, and 10% glucose at 30°C and 180 rpm for 7 days. It was found out that the shell size had a slight effect on the rate of DM. Negative relationships were found between DM and residual dry weight (r2 = 0.960), and between DM and pH (r2 = 0.906). Conversely, positive relationships were found between DM and medium protein (r2 = 0.696), and between DM and total titratable acidity (r2 = 0.630).  相似文献

A particle-in-cell simulation is used to investigate ion acceleration by a femtosecond laser pulse propagating in an underdense plasma slab. In plasma slabs with different thicknesses, the ions are found to be accelerated by different mechanisms. A critical factor in the biotechnological production of l-lysine with Corynebacterium glutamicum is the sufficient supply of NADPH. The membrane-integral nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase PntAB of Escherichia coli can use the electrochemical proton gradient across the cytoplasmic membrane to drive the reduction of NADP+ via the oxidation of NADH. As C. glutamicum does not possess such an enzyme, we expressed the E. coli pntAB genes in the genetically defined C. glutamicum lysine-producing strain DM1730, resulting in membrane-associated transhydrogenase activity of 0.7 U/mg protein. When cultivated in minimal medium with 10% (w/v) carbon source, the presence of transhydrogenase slightly reduced glucose consumption, whereas the consumption of fructose, glucose plus fructose, and, in particular, sucrose was stimulated. Biomass was increased by pntAB expression between 10 and 30% on all carbon sources tested. Most importantly, the lysine concentration was increased in the presence of transhydrogenase by ∼10% on glucose, ∼70% on fructose, ∼50% on glucose plus fructose, and even by ∼300% on sucrose. Thus, the presence of a proton-coupled transhydrogenase was shown to be an efficient way to improve lysine production by C. glutamicum. In contrast, pntAB expression had a negative effect on growth and glutamate production of C. glutamicum wild type.  相似文献

A linkage map of the Ixodes scapularis genome was constructed based upon segregation amongst 127 loci. These included 84 random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers, 32 Sequence-Tagged RAPD (STAR) markers, 5 cDNAs, and 5 microsatellites in 232 F1 intercross progeny from a single, field-collected P1 female. A preliminary linkage map of 616 cM was generated across 14 linkage groups with one marker every 10.8 cM. Assuming a genome size of ∼109 bp, the relationship of physical to genetic distance is ∼300 kb/cM in the I. scapularis genome.
