Field experiments were conducted for 3 years from 2000 to 2002 to assess proportional crop yield differences obtained under conventional deficit irrigation (CDI) and partial root zone irrigation (PRI) practices, compared with full irrigation (FULL) where plant water requirements were fully met. The experimental crops included vegetables (tomato and pepper), field crops (maize and cotton) and citrus. The fruit yield of greenhouse‐grown tomato with FULL irrigation was higher than with PRI (7–22% lower) but was not significantly different. The PRI treatments had 7–10% additional tomato yield over CDI receiving the same amount of water. The yield of pepper, however, decreased in proportion to the level of irrigation deficit with no increase of irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE). No seed yield decrease was evident for cotton with the deficit treatments (PRI and CDI) compared with FULL irrigation. Similarly, the PRI treatment did not give any yield benefit for maize compared with CDI. The ranking of fruit yields of mandarin, FULL > PRI > CDI, was the same as that of other crops; however, the differences were not significant. Although the deficit treatments (PRI and CDI) had as high as 39% increase in IWUE, compared with FULL treatment, some adverse effects on fruit quality were evident such as smaller size of fruits under the deficit treatments.  相似文献

Grapevine and several fruit tree crops seem to be well adapted to deficit irrigation, but other crops like vegetables tend not to cope so well due to losses in yield and quality. Saline water resources are abundant in the coastal areas of south China. Most of these resources still have not been effectively utilized. A 3-year study on the effects of saline water irrigation on tomato yield, quality and blossom-end rot (BER) was conducted at different lower limits of soil matric potential (-10 kPa, -20 kPa, -30 kPa, -40 kPa and -50 kPa). Saline water differing in electrical conductivity (EC) (3 dS/m, 4 dS/m, 4.5 dS/m, 5 dS/m and 5.5 dS/m) was supplied to the plant after the seedling establishment. In all three years, irrigation water with 5.5 dS/m salinity reduced the maximum leaf area index (LAIm) and chlorophyll content the most significantly when compared with other salinity treatments. However, compared with the control treatment (CK), a slight increase in LAIm and chlorophyll content was observed with 3~4 dS/m salinity. Saline water improved tomato quality, including fruit density, soluble solid, total acid, vitamin C and the sugar-acid ratio. There was a positive relationship between the overall tomato quality and salinity of irrigation water, as analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA). The tomato yield decreased with increased salinity. The 5.5 dS/m treatment reduced the tomato yield (Yt) by 22.4~31.1%, 12.6~28.0% and 11.7~27.3%, respectively in 2012, 2013 and 2014, compared with CK. Moreover, a significant (P≤0.01) coupling effect of salinity and soil matric potential on Yt was detected. Saline water caused Yt to increase more markedly when the lower limit of soil matric potential was controlled at a relatively lower level. The critical salinity level that produced significant increases in the BERi was 3 dS/m~4 dS/m. Following the increase in BERi under saline water irrigation, marketable tomato yield (Ym) decreased by 8.9%~33.8% in 2012, 5.1%~30.4% in 2013 and 10.1%~32.3% in 2014 compared with CK. In terms of maintaining the Yt and Ym, the salinity of irrigation water should be controlled under 4 dS/m, and the lower limit of soil matric potential should be greater than -20 kPa.  相似文献

高水位地区作物生长关键期采用微咸水或咸水灌溉被证明在一定条件下可以起到增产正效应,但同时却存在着土体盐分积累及其对下茬或次年种植影响的生态负效应.为探讨消除或抑制微咸水或咸水灌溉对土壤盐分积累的生态负效应,保证作物种植增产的正效应,本文在河北近滨海高水位盐碱区开展了为期2年的试验研究,探讨了旱季微咸水或咸水灌溉带来的盐分异位积累与离子分布变化特征,分析了雨季关键期暗管适时排盐对土壤盐分的立体调控生态效应.结果表明:旱季咸水灌溉后土壤经历“积盐-脱盐-二次积盐”3个阶段;灌溉初期,1 g·L-1咸水灌溉处理下0~50 cm土体脱盐,土壤含盐量随土壤深度增加而增加,HCO3-含量增加,其他离子含量降低;6与13 g·L-1咸水灌溉处理下0~50 cm土体积盐,土壤含盐量随土壤深度增加而降低,HCO3-含量降低,其他离子含量增加;雨季暗管适时立体调控脱盐效果显著,土壤脱盐率达16.0%~45.7%,同降雨量下,降水分布越集中,脱盐效果越好;周年时间尺度上,咸水灌溉小区土壤积盐量小于对照区;咸水灌溉处理小区冬小麦产量显著高于对照处理,1 g·L-1 处理高于6与13 g·L-1处理.  相似文献

Summary This review evaluates management practices that may minimize yield reduction under saline conditions according to three strategies: (I) control of root-zone salinity; (II) reduced damage to the crop; (III) reduced damage to individual plants. Plant response to salinity is described by an unchanged yield up to a threshold soil salinity (a), then a linear reduction in relative yield (b), to a maximum soil salinity that corresponds to zero yield (Yo). Strategies I and II do not take into consideration any change in the parameters of the response curve, while strategy III is aimed at modifying them.Control of root zone salinity is obtained by irrigation and leaching. From the review of existing data it is concluded that the effective soil salinity parameter should be taken as the mean electrical conductivity of the saturated paste extract or of the soil solution over time and space. Several irrigation and leaching practices are discussed. It is shown that intermittent leaching is more advantageous than leaching at each irrigation. Specific cultivation and irrigation practices that result in soil salinity reduction adjacent to young seedlings and the use of water of low salinity at specifically sensitive growth stages may be highly beneficial. Recent data do not show that reduced irrigation intervals improve crop response more under saline than under nonsaline irrigation. Alternate use of water of different salt concentrations results in mixing in the soil and the crop responds to the mean water salinity.Reduced damage at the fiel level when soil or irrigation water salinity is too high to maintain full yield of single plants requires a larger crop stand. For row crops reduced inter-row spacing is more effective than reduced intra-row spacing.Reduced damage at the plant level while the salinity tolerance of the plants remains constant shows up in the response curve parameters as larger threshold and slope and constant salinity at zero yield. This is the effect of a reduced atmospheric water demand that results in reduced stress in the plant under given salinity. Management can also change the salt tolerance of the crop. This will show up as higher salinity at zero yield, as well as changes in threshold and slope. The K+, Na+/H+ antiporter LeNHX2 and the regulatory kinase SlSOS2 are important determinants of salt tolerance in tomato plants and their fruit production ability. In this work, we have analyzed the effects of LeNHX2 and SlSOS2 co-overexpression on fruit production, quality in tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. MicroTom), and analyzed physiological parameters related to salt tolerance. Plants overexpressing LeNHX2, SlSOS2 or both were grown in greenhouse. They were treated with 125 mM NaCl or left untreated and their salt tolerance was analyzed in terms of plant biomass and fruit yield. Under NaCl cultivation conditions, transgenic tomato plants overexpressing either SlSOS2 or LeNHX2 or both grew better and showed a higher biomass compared to their wild-type plants. Proline, glucose and protein content in leaves as well as pH and total soluble solid (TSS) in fruits were analyzed. Our results indicate that salinity tolerance of transgenic lines is associated with an increased proline, glucose and protein content in leaves of plants grown either with or without NaCl. Salt treatment significantly reduced yield, pH and TSS in fruits of WT plants but increased yield, pH and TSS in fruits of transgenic plants, especially those overexpressing both LeNHX2 and SlSOS2. All these results indicate that the co-overexpression of LeNHX2 and SlSOS2 improve yield and fruit quality of tomato grown under saline conditions.  相似文献

通过不同矿化度的咸水灌溉春玉米试验,研究了石羊河流域中游咸水充分灌溉和非充分灌溉对土壤水盐分布及玉米产量的影响. 结果表明: 土壤含水量峰值均出现在灌溉期, 充分灌溉变化幅度高于非充分灌溉;土壤含盐量随灌水矿化度的增大而增大, 相同灌水矿化度下,非充分灌溉处理的土壤含盐量均较充分灌溉处理低; 非充分灌溉处理土壤盐分累积层较充分灌溉处理上移; 80~100 cm土壤含水量和含盐量保持稳定,不受灌溉水量和水质的影响.与淡水充分灌溉相比,咸水灌溉下玉米产量降低约15%~22%;9 g·L-1、6 g·L-1、3 g·L-1咸水非充分灌溉下玉米收获后1 m土层平均土壤含盐量分别比充分灌溉降低8.1%、12.4%和18.4%,而产量仅分别降低3.4%、6.8%和3.0%.  相似文献

Quantity and quality of irrigation water are considered the most imperative limiting factors for plant production in arid environment. Adoptions of strategies can minimize crop water consumption while nonexistent yield reduction is considered challenge for scholars especially in arid environment. Grafting is regarded as a promising tool to avoid or reduce yield loss caused by abiotic stresses. Tomato (Solanum lycopersium Mill.), commercial cultivar Faridah was grafted on Unifort rootstock and grown under regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) (100%, 80% and 60% ETc), using two types of irrigation water, fresh (EC = 0.86 dS/m) and brackish (EC = 3.52 dS/m). The effects of grafting and RDI on water use efficiency, vegetative growth, yield, fruit quality were investigated. Plant vegetative growth was reduced under water and salinity stresses. Grafting the plant significantly improves the vegetative growth under both conditions. The results showed that crop yield, Ca+2 and K+ were considerably increased in grafted tomato compared to non-grafted plants under water and salinity stresses. Grafted tomato plants accumulated less Na+ and Cl, especially under high levels of salinity compared to non-grafted plants. Grafting tomato plants showed a slight decrease on the fruit quality traits such as vitamin C, titratable acidity (TA) and total soluble solids (TSS). This study confirmed that grafted tomato plants can mitigate undesirable impact of salt stress on growth and fruit quality.  相似文献

To investigate better saline water irrigation scheme for tomatoes that scheduling with the compromise among yield (Yt), quality, irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE) and soil salt residual, an experiment with three irrigation quotas and three salinities of irrigation water was conducted under straw mulching in northern China. The irrigation quota levels were 280 mm (W1), 320 mm (W2) and 360 mm (W3), and the salinity levels were 1.0 dS/m (F), 3.0 dS/m (S1) and 5.0 dS/m (S2). Compared to freshwater, saline water irrigations decreased the maximum leaf area index (LAIm) of tomatoes, and the LAIm presented a decline tendency with higher salinity and lower irrigation quota. The best overall quality of tomato was obtained by S2W1, with the comprehensive quality index of 3.61. A higher salinity and lower irrigation quota resulted in a decrease of individual fruit weight and an increase of the blossom-end rot incidence, finally led to a reduction in the tomato Yt and marketable yield (Ym). After one growth season of tomato, the mass fraction of soil salt in plough layer under S2W1 treatment was the highest, and which presented a decline trend with an increasing irrigation quota. Moreover, compared to W1, soil salts had a tendency to move to the deeper soil layer when using W2 and W3 irrigation quota. According to the calculation results of projection pursuit model, S1W3 was the optimal treatment that possessed the best comprehensive benefit (tomato overall quality, Yt, Ym, IWUE and soil salt residual), and was recommended as the saline water irrigation scheme for tomatoes in northern China.  相似文献

采用小区试验,在温室滴灌条件下研究了不同生育阶段土壤水分状况对番茄果实大小、坐果数、畸形果及产量形成过程的影响,分析了温室滴灌条件下番茄总产量与灌水量的关系.结果表明:番茄苗期适度水分亏缺(田间持水量的50%~55%)可提高坐果率,畸形果形成减少,但果实总体偏小,果实成熟主要集中在采摘后期;开花坐果期过度水分亏缺(田间持水量的65%以下)虽可促进果实成熟,但降低了坐果数,易形成小果和畸形果;采摘期水分过高(田间持水量的80%以上)或过低(田间持水量的65%以下)均可降低番茄产量,水分亏缺(田间持水量的65%以下)则使坐果数降低、畸形果增加.各水分处理对果实成熟时间无明显影响;温室番茄总产量、灌溉水利用效率与全生育期灌水总量之间均呈二次抛物线关系;当番茄土壤水分(占田间持水量的百分比)下限控制在苗期60%~65%、开花坐果期70%~75%、成熟采摘期70%~75%时,番茄畸形果形成量减少,产量及坐果率较高,可作为滴灌条件下温室番茄适宜的土壤水分控制指标.  相似文献

The aim of the present work was to evaluate the effects of water stress and different rootstocks on the quality indices and nutritional characteristics of peach fruit, cv. Suncrest. The results show how pre‐harvest factors, such as the type of rootstock and water stress, can influence the quality indices and nutritional properties of peach fruits. Rootstocks type influenced both quality indices such as flesh firmness (FF) and soluble solid content (SSC), but it is unclear how rootstock exerted its influence. Also water stress induced changes in quality indices of peach fruit grafted on GF 677 and Montclar whereas minor effects were recorded when water stress was applied on Penta. The content of hydroxycinnamic acids was similar in control fruits of GF677, Montclar and Penta and it increased significantly only in fruit of trees grafted on GF 677 following water stress. Anthocyanins content in fruit of control plants was higher in Montclar in comparison with the fruit grafted on the other two rootstocks while procyanidin content was higher in fruit of control plants grafted on Penta. Following the water stress an increase in total anthocyanins was observed in GF 677 and Penta whereas no significant differences were found for Montclar. Water stress induced a significant decrease in procyanidin content in Penta. In conclusion in fruits of trees grafted on Penta following water stress quality indices did not show changes but significant variations in some phytochemicals, i.e. anthocyanins and procyanindins were observed. The results suggest that the regulation of water management is an important factor to maintain a good quality of the fruits. In fact, if irrigation stress can induce a higher biosynthesis of phytochemical compounds and an increase of SSC, at the same time, it can change fruit quality traits, such as a lower FW in Montclar, a higher titratable acidity (TA) in GF 677 and Penta and a lower FF in Gf 677 and Montclar.  相似文献

Impacts of salinity become severe when the soil is deficient in oxygen. Oxygation (using aerated water for subsurface drip irrigation of crop) could minimize the impact of salinity on plants under oxygen-limiting soil environments. Pot experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of oxygation (12% air volume/volume of water) on vegetable soybean (moderately salt tolerant) and cotton (salt tolerant) in a salinized vertisol at 2, 8, 14, 20 dS/m ECe. In vegetable soybean, oxygation increased above ground biomass yield and water use efficiency (WUE) by 13% and 22%, respectively, compared with the control. Higher yield with oxygation was accompanied by greater plant height and stem diameter and reduced specific leaf area and leaf Na+ and Cl-concentrations. In cotton, oxygation increased lint yield and WUE by 18% and 16%, respectively, compared with the control, and was accompanied by greater canopy light interception, plant height and stem diameter. Oxygation also led to a greater rate of photosynthesis, higher relative water content in the leaf, reduced crop water stress index and lower leaf water potential. It did not, however, affect leaf Na+ or Cl- concentration. Oxygation invariably increased, whereas salinity reduced the K+ : Na+ ratio in the leaves of both species. Oxygation improved yield and WUE performance of salt tolerant and moderately tolerant crops under saline soil environments, and this may have a significant impact for irrigated agriculture where saline soils pose constraints to crop production.  相似文献

Root growth and water uptake in winter wheat under deficit irrigation   总被引:20,自引:0,他引:20  
Root growth is critical for crops to use soil water under water-limited conditions. A field study was conducted to investigate the effect of available soil water on root and shoot growth, and root water uptake in winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under deficit irrigation in a semi-arid environment. Treatments consisted of rainfed, deficit irrigation at different developmental stages, and adequate irrigation. The rainfed plots had the lowest shoot dry weight because available soil water decreased rapidly from booting to late grain filling. For the deficit-irrigation treatments, crops that received irrigation at jointing and booting had higher shoot dry weight than those that received irrigation at anthesis and middle grain filling. Rapid root growth occurred in both rainfed and irrigated crops from floral initiation to anthesis, and maximum rooting depth occurred by booting. Root length density and dry weight decreased after anthesis. From floral initiation to booting, root length density and growth rate were higher in rainfed than in irrigated crops. However, root length density and growth rate were lower in rainfed than in irrigated crops from booting to anthesis. As a result, the difference in root length density between rainfed and irrigated treatments was small during grain filling. The root growth and water use below 1.4 m were limited by a caliche (45% CaCO3) layer at about 1.4 m profile. The mean water uptake rate decreased as available soil water decreased. During grain filling, root water uptake was higher from the irrigated crops than from the rainfed. Irrigation from jointing to anthesis increased seasonal evapotranspiration, grain yield, harvest index and water-use efficiency based on yield (WUE), but did not affect water-use efficiency based on aboveground biomass. There was no significant difference in WUE among irrigation treatments except one-irrigation at middle grain filling. Due to a relatively deep root system in rainfed crops, the higher grain yield and WUE in irrigated crops compared to rainfed crops was not a result of rooting depth or root length density, but increased harvest index, and higher water uptake rate during grain filling.  相似文献

Soil nutrients and water have long been recognized as the main determining factors influencing agricultural productivity in rain-fed agriculture. Manure application and irrigation can increase crop yield when nutrients and water are deficient. Often effects of water and nutrients are closely related and can not be easily separated in actual production. Three years of experiment were conducted in northern part of black soil area of Northeast China to investigate the responses of photosynthetic rates and yield/quality of main crops, wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), maize (May zeas L.), soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) to irrigation and manure application. Irrigation and manure application had no effects on photosynthetic patterns during reproductive development in crops, maximum photosynthetic rates were achieved by irrigation, and manure application maintained relatively higher photosynthetic rates after the peak. On average, higher photosynthetic rates with irrigation may contribute to higher yield in soybean but not in maize and wheat. Responses of crop yield and quality to manure application and irrigation varied in the crops. Soybean yield and quality was very sensitive to irrigation and manure application. The greater supply of nutrients with sufficient water, the higher the yield. However, the high-yield of soybean achieved was accompanied with a decline of seed protein content. Maize yield mainly depended on nutrients used not the water supply, irrigation resulted in higher water content in the seed of maize and lower grain protein content in wheat at harvest, which is detrimental to seed storage in maize and processing quality in wheat. In the northern part of black soil area in Northeast China, the management of manure is critical to improve crop production, the optimum management for maize and wheat production was to apply chemical fertilizer and manure without irrigation, but for soybean was to apply fertilizer and manure with irrigation.  相似文献

Summary Responses of egg plant crop to 3 irrigation rhythms based on the daily potential evapotranspiration were investigated. Results showed that the shorter the rhythm (5 times per week) the better the plant growth expressed in terms of plant length (Fig. 2) and/or yield shown as fruit number (Fig. 3) or fruit fresh weight (Fig. 4). The twice per week rhythm gave the medium, whereas the 10 days one gave the least plant growth and yield. Also the frequent rhythm (5 times per week) gave an earlier crop presented as flower-setting (Table 2).The three rhythms did not show an effect on crop quality expressed as mineral content of leaf blades, petioles or fruits. 在以色列南部内盖夫沙漠农业实验站 ,采用较为先进的双管重叠水喷灌系统 ,研究了不同浓度盐水灌溉下狗牙根 (CynodondactylonL .) 6个品种的 (Suwannee、Coastcross、Tifton4 4、Tifton6 8、Tifton78、Tifton85 )牧草产量、粗蛋白、灰分、纤维素含量的变化 ,同时 ,采用较为先进的瘤胃胃液消化法分析了不同盐水灌溉的牧草干草在山羊体内的消化率 .结果表明 ,在Eci小于 10ds·m-1条件下 ,6个狗牙根品种维持较高产草量 ,尤其是Eci=4 .4ds·m-1,Coastcross、Suwannee、Tifton4 4、Tifton6 8、Tifton78和Tifton85的产量分别较淡水 (Eci=1.2 )灌溉的产量增加了 14 1%、6 1.1%、136 %、12 1.2 %、2 0 2 .3%和 10 9.7% ,干物质产量也随灌溉水盐浓度增加而提高 ,而牧草纤维素含量无明显增加 .饲养及消化实验表明 ,盐水灌溉的干草更为山羊喜食 ,干草消化率也随灌溉水盐浓度增加而增加 ,表明适当浓度的盐水灌溉不仅不会引起牧草产量下降 ,而且可提高牧草品质和喜食性 ,在农业和牧业上具有重要应用前景  相似文献

Summary Crops sprinkled with saline irrigation water are subject to foliar salt absorption and injury as well as to injury from soil salinity. Yield reductions caused by soil salinity alone are well documented, and data are presented here for 71 agricultural crops. Factors affecting these data and their applicability to sprinkler-irrigated crops are discussed. Although foliar injury has been observed with many sprinkled crops, particularly tree crops, essentially no information is available to predict yield losses as a function of the salt concentration of the irrigation water. Salinity thresholds for sprinkling-induced foliar injury are estimated for some crops; however, climatic conditions greatly affect the onset and degree of injury. Managment strategies that minimize sprinkling injury are mentioned.  相似文献

To investigate the relationship between fruit growth and fruit osmotic potential (Ψs) in salty conditions, a sensitive tomato cultivar (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) and a tolerant accession of the wild species Lycopersicon pimpinellifolium Mill. were grown in a greenhouse with 0 and 70 mM NaCl, and the growth of the fruit studied from 15 to 70 days after anthesis (DAA). L. pimpinellifolium did not reduce significantly fruit weight in salty conditions throughout the growth period, whereas L. esculentum fruit weights decreased significantly with salinity from 45 DAA. L. esculentum fruit fresh weight reductions resulted from both less dry matter and water accumulation, although the fruit water content was affected by salinity before the fruit weight. In both species, fruit osmotic potential (Ψs) decreased significantly with salinity during the rapid fruit growth phase, although the changes were different. Thus, fruits from L. pimpinellifolium salt treated plants showed a Ψs reduction at the beginning (15 DAA) twice as high as that found in L. esculentum. As the advanced growth stage (from 15 to 55 DAA), the Ψs reduction percentages induced by salinity were quite similar in L. pimpinellifolium fruits, while increased in L. esculentum. Under saline conditions, the solutes contributing to reduce the fruit Ψs during the first 55 DAA were the inorganic solutes in both species, while in the ripe fruits they were hexoses. L. esculentum fruits accumulated K+ as the main osmoticum in salty conditions, while L. pimpinellifolium fruits were able to use not only K+ but also the Na+ provided by the salt.  相似文献

The effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) colonisation by Glomus clarum on fruit yield and water use efficiency (WUE) was evaluated in watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) cv. Crimson Sweet F1 under field conditions. Treatments were: (1) well-watered plants without mycorrhizae (WW-M), (2) well-watered plants with mycorrhizae (WW+M), (3) water- stressed plants without mycorrhizae (WS-M) and (4) water-stressed plants with mycorrhizae (WS+M). When soil water tension readings reached –20 and –50 kPa for well-watered (WW) and water-stressed (WS) treatments, respectively, irrigation was initiated to restore the top soil to near field capacity. Water stress reduced watermelon shoot and root dry matter, fruit yield, water use efficiency but not total soluble solids (TSS) in the fruit, compared with the non-stressed treatments. Mycorrhizal plants had significantly higher biomass and fruit yield compared to nonmycorrhizal plants, whether plants were water stressed or not. AM colonisation increased WUE in both WW and WS plants. Macro- (N, P, K, Ca and Mg) and micro- (Zn, Fe and Mn) nutrient concentrations in the leaves were significantly reduced by water stress. Mycorrhizal colonisation of WS plants restored leaf nutrient concentrations to levels in WW plants in most cases. This is the first report of the mitigation of the adverse effect of water stress on yield and quality of a fruit crop.  相似文献
