Abstract

The 20 described species of diurnal moths previously in Simaethis auct. (not Leach, 1815) in New Zealand are transferred to Asterivora n.gen. The genus is described and distinguished from other genera in Choreutidae; genitalia of the type-species are figured. Asterivora oleariae, a new species associated with Olearia lyalli Hook.f. (Asteraceae: Compositae) from The Snares and Stewart Island, is described.  相似文献

The present work completes a series of studies on the biology of the shrimp Hippolyte inermis Leach 1815, where we suggested the species to be gonochoristic. The morphology of the male reproductive system (testes, vasa deferentia, gonopores) and the different stages of male germ cell development are described for the first time in the genus Hippolyte, using TEM, SEM, and histological methods. All males from 1.70 to 3.42 mm in carapace length had active testes and well-developed vasa deferentia. No case of sex reversal could be found.  相似文献

Euphorbia (Euphorbiaceae) is one of the largest and most diversified cosmopolitan genera of flowering plants. South‐west Asia is a major centre of diversity and contains c. 65 annual species, 35 of which occur in Iran. In this article, the seed morphology of all Iranian annual species was studied, including E. aulacosperma and E. rhabdothosperma, both new records for Iran. Quantitative and qualitative macro‐ and micromorphological features of seeds and caruncles were investigated using stereomicroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Caruncle characters (shape, size, colour) and seed characters (shape, size, colour, ornamentation) are often constant and useful in identification and classification. Background: Apolipoprotein E (apoE) with three major alleles E2, E3 and E4 is one of the critical genes in lipid metabolism. Common apoE alleles are in association with an increase in risk for central nervous and cardiovascular diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis, atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, hyperlipoproteinemia and stroke. ApoE3 is known as the most frequent allele in all populations, while association of apoE gene polymorphism with reported diseases have mostly been related to other two major alleles especially apoE4. Objective: To determine of apoE alleles frequencies in Southern Iran and comparison of those frequencies with other populations. Methods: DNA was extracted from the whole blood of 198 healthy unrelated candidates from population of Fars Province, Southern Iran, for apoE genotyping who were checked up by a physician. The frequencies of apoE alleles were compared with other populations by χ2 test. Results: The frequencies of E2, E3 and E4 were 0.063, 0.886 and 0.051 respectively. These values were similar to those reported from populations of Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, India, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Sardinia Islands of Italy and two Iranian populations but were different from South of Italy and Caucasians in other Europe regions, American, American-Indian, African, East Asian and Saudi populations (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The frequency of E4 allele as a genetic risk factor for some multifactorial diseases in the population of Southern Iran is in the lowest reported amounts in the world. Iranian population has Caucasoid origin but differs from some Caucasian populations in Europe and America. The results of present study are in agreement with the historical evidences which show admixture of Iranian population with other populations and some studies based on genetic polymorphisms in the population of Southern Iran.  相似文献

We describe a new species of Micragasma J. Sahlberg, 1900 (Coleoptera, Hydraenidae), which is here treated as a subgenus of Ochthebius Leach, 1815 Leach, W.E. (1815), ‘Entomology’, in The Edinburgh Encyclopaedia (Vol. 9), ed. D. Brewster, Balfour: Edinburgh, pp. 57172. [Google Scholar]. The new species, O. (Micragasma) minoicus sp. n., was found at the margins of a coastal rockpool in the island of Crete. The species differs from the other two known species of Micragasma in both external and genital characters, but shares with them the presence of small setiferous tubercles on the surface of the head, pronotum and elytra, and a strong medial gibbosity on the head. In some characters, such as the structure and shape of the aedeagus, O. (M.) minoicus sp. n. is similar to other species of the genus Ochthebius, in particular of the subgenus Cobalius Rey, 1886 Rey, C. (1886), ‘Histoire naturelle des coléoptères de France (suite)’, Annales de la Société Linnéenne de Lyon, 32, 1187, pl. 1–2.[Crossref] [Google Scholar], typical of coastal rockpools.

Potato virus S causes destructive disease on the plants. In this research, 44 weed samples symptomless were collected during 2015 from Fars, Razavi Khorasan and Kerman provinces of Iran. The coat protein (CP) and 11 K genes from eight PVS isolates were amplified, cloned and sequenced. PVS was detected in eight weed samples including: one sample of Solanum nigrum, two samples of Chenopodium botrytis, three samples of Chenopodium album and two samples of Amaranthus hybridus. Phylogenetic analysis showed that seven Iranian isolates fell into group I, II near to European isolates and one Iranian isolate formed a separate group. Comparison of coat protein and 11 k nucleotide indicated that all Iranian isolates belonged to Ordinary strain and there were 79–100% identity among the eight Iranian isolates and the world isolates of PVS. The highest identity was between Iranian and Ukraine isolates. Recombination analysis identified four recombinant isolates among eight new Iranian isolates.  相似文献

Summary

Over the past few decades, many records of the parasitoids parasitizing Coccinellidae have been reported from Iran. Some of them, presented in hard to access conference proceedings, theses, older books and journal articles, were then inaccurately quoted in other papers. Furthermore, some other records were subsequently considered misidentifications and the corrected identity of the parasitoids was proposed in later published papers. Due to the accumulation of that misleading information, we decided to gather and critically evaluate all available Iranian data on the parasitoids of Coccinellidae. To the review presented here we also added new data on the parasitism of Coccinella septempunctata L. by a braconid Dinocampus coccinellae (Schrank) in the Lorestan province and on the parasitism of Hyperaspis pseudopustulata Mulsant by an encyrtid Homalotylus flaminius (Dalman) in the Kermanshah province. Hyperaspis pseudopustulata is a new host for H. flaminius, and is also a species new to the fauna of Iran. Altogether, our review revealed one species of dipteran and 16 species of hymenopteran parasitoids associated with Coccinellidae in Iran. The identity of some of those species, however, seems uncertain and should be re-examined.  相似文献

Abstract

The checklist comprises all species of six families of Iranian aquatic Polyphaga (Coleoptera). In total, 43 species/subspecies within the families, Georissidae (one species), Helophoridae (25 species and two subspecies), Hydrochidae (three species), Spercheidae (one species), Curculionidae (nine species) and Erirhinidae (two species) are listed for the fauna of Iran. Helophorus (Rhopalohelophorus) nanus Sturm, 1836 Sturm, J. (1836), Deulschlands Fauna in Abbildungen nach der Natur mit Beschreibungen. V. Abtheilung. Die Inseclen. Zehntes Bändchen. A total of 870 adult and 831 larval Elmidae and Hydraenidae were caught from September 1995 to September 1996 at the Weidlingbach, a fourth order tributary of the Danube near Vienna, Austria, using a Heß sampler at 14 sampling stations from source to mouth. Elmis maugetii (Latreille ) and Riolus subviolaceus (Müller ) accounted for 66.3% of the total, whereas Hydraena gracilis (Germar ) was the most abundant Hydraenidae species. Based on head width, instars 1–6 were collected in E. maugetii, instars 2–6 in R. subviolaceus and instars 3–6 in Limnius volckmari (Panzer ) and Riolus cupreus (Müller ); from the remaining species, only instars 4–6 were sampled. E. maugetii was most abundant on coarse, moss-covered substrates (median = 22.2 mm) exposed to high water velocity (median = 69.4 cm/s; range = 6.0–117.6 cm/s); the latter was also true for R. subviolaceus although it favoured smaller sediment grain sizes (median = 10.7 mm). Sites exposed to only moderate flow and with abundant filiform algae were preferred by Esolus parallelepipedus (Müller ) and L. volckmari, whereas the Hydraenidae species, Esolus angustatus (Müller ), R. cupreus and Oulimnius tuberculatus (Müller ) were collected mostly at sites with moderate current speed and abundant moss-covered pebbles of various size. Species richness and population density increased from source to mouth. At the spring sampling site Elmidae and Hydraenidae were completely lacking.  相似文献

The Persian Long-tailed Desert Lizard, Mesalina watsonana, is one of the most common and most widely distributed lizards on the Iranian Plateau extending from Iran to Pakistan and Afghanistan. The species is frequently encountered in various types of habitats. We collected over 600 distributional records from available literature, museum collections, and our own field work and used bioclimatic and land cover characteristics to develop a model of potential distribution for M. watsonana. According to the model, the most important factors limiting the distribution of M. watsonana are: precipitation in wettest quarter exceeding 250–300 mm, precipitation in coldest quarter lower than 40 mm and exceeding 250 mm, altitudes above 2500 m and slopes steeper than 10.5°. The model suggests that most of the Iranian Plateau is suitable for the species except for some isolated areas such as the Dasht-e Kavir and Dasht-e Lut deserts in Iran, Helmand basin in Afghanistan, the Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan, the western Chagai-Kharan deserts of Pakistani Balochistan, and Thar and Cholistan deserts in eastern Pakistan. The most important factor in these regions appears to be the extremely low rainfall during coldest quarter of the year. The outer boundary of the distribution of M. watsonana follows important biogeographic barriers that are also clearly delimited by climatic conditions.  相似文献

Cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) with a high incidence and widespread distribution on Brassica crops in Iran reduces the yield and quality of these crops. The complete sequences of three open reading frames (ORFs) 2, 4 and 6 coding for aphid transmission (AT), coat protein (CP) and inclusion body protein/translation transactivator (TAV) genes, respectively, were determined for two Iranian CaMV isolates from Kerman (south Iran). They induced latent or mild mottle (L/MMo) infection in Brassica oleracea var. capitata so are considered as the (L/MMo) biotype. Clear recombination breakpoints were detected between ORF2 and ORF6 in two Kerman isolates using concatenate fragments. Phylogenetic analysis revealed three Iranian CaMV subpopulations in which the two Kerman isolates in the new subgroup C were added to the two previously reported Iranian subpopulations A (central and west Iran) and B (north‐east Iran). Also three regions of pairwise identity were detected which representing: 97.1–100, 93.8–97.1 and 90.6–93.8% for subgroups A, C and B, respectively. Our analysis showed the high variability of Iranian CaMV population and provided valuable new information for understanding the diversity and evolution of caulimoviruses. Furthermore, star phylogeny was found in the subgroup C with overall lack of nt diversity and high haplotype diversity as evidence of a recent population expansion after a genetic bottleneck although this may have been modified subsequently by clinal genetic drift. The appearance of new genetic types demonstrates a high potential of risks and should be considered in the planning of efficient control programmes.  相似文献

The occurrence of Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV; genus Begomovirus, family Geminiviridae) in the major tomato‐growing areas of Iran was determined using TAS‐ELISA and PCR. The nucleotide sequences of the coat protein (CP) gene and intergenic region (IR) of eight Iranian isolates were determined. CP nucleotide identities among the Iranian isolates were 96–98%, and showed 94–96% identity with TYLCV‐IR [IR:Ira:98] and TYLCV‐IL [IL:Reo:86]. However, they showed low identity (68–69%) with ToLCIRV‐[IR:Ira]. Sequence analyses of IR indicated that seven Iranian isolates had sequence identity of 93–100% with each other, and 76% identity with the Jiroft isolate; identities of 75–79% with TYLCV‐IR[IR:Ira:98] were observed in every case, and 59–62% identity with ToLCIRV‐[IR:Ira]. The IR nucleotide sequences of Iranian isolates showed 92–93% identity with TYLCV‐IL[IL:Reo:86], except the Jiroft isolate (75%). The CP and IR sequence analyses suggested that eight Iranian TYLCV isolates probably differ from ToLCIRV‐[IR:Ira]. Based on IR sequence comparisons and phylogenetic analyses, the Iranian isolates were divided into two groups. The first major group (A), consists of seven virus isolates, was most closely related to TYLCV‐IL[IL:Reo:86], and relatively divergent from TYLCV‐IR [IR:Ira:98] and ToLCIRV‐[IR:Ira]. However, the Jiroft isolate from group B did not show high similarity with TYLCV‐IR[IR:Ira:98], ToLCIRV‐[IR:Ira], and TYLCV‐IL[IL:Reo:86], suggesting that the isolate may be a divergent variant. The differences are in a range that suggests different strains or species from TYLCV‐IR[IR:Ira:98] and ToLCIRV‐[IR:Ira] are probably associated with tomato yellow leaf curl disease in Iran.  相似文献

Goitered gazelles, Gazella subgutturosa, exist in arid and semiarid regions of Asia from the Middle to the Far East. Although large populations were present over a vast area until recently, a decline of the population as a result of hunting, poaching, and habitat loss led to the IUCN classification of G. subgutturosa as “vulnerable." We examined genetic diversity, structure, and phylogeny of G. subgutturosa using mitochondrial cytochrome b sequences from 18 geographically distant populations in Iran. The median‐joining network of cyt b haplotypes indicated that three clades of goitered gazelles can be distinguished: a Middle Eastern clade west of the Zagros Mountains (and connected to populations in Turkey and Iraq), a Central Iranian clade (with connection to Azerbaijan), and an Asiatic clade in northeastern Iran (with connection to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and other Asian countries as far as northeastern China and Mongolia). Based on our results, we argue that Iran is the center of diversification of goitered gazelles, due to the presence of large mountain ranges and deserts that lead to the separation of populations. In accordance with previous morphological studies, we identified the Asiatic clade as the subspecies G. s. yarkandensis, and the other two clades as the nominate form G. s. subgutturosa. The new genetic information for goitered gazelles in Iran provides the basis for future national conservation programs of this species.  相似文献

Pterocarya fraxinifolia (Lam.) Spach., a relict tree species of the Juglandaceae family, is native to the Great Caucasus, Anatolia, and to the Hyrcanian forests of the southern Azerbaijan and Northern Iran. In this study, the phylogenetic relationship of the species, sampled in selected Iranian populations, and the global biogeography of the genus Pterocarya were addressed. Leaves were collected from 8 to 10 trees from three geographically isolated habitats. The samples were analyzed with nuclear (internal transcribed spacer [ITS] regions) and chloroplast (trnH-psbA) DNA markers. The obtained results were compared and analyzed with the data registered in NCBI GenBank. It is reported that the ITS regions varied from 644 to 652 for Pterocarya genus, but we did not observe polymorphisms for Iranian Pterocarya. The phylogenetic tree divided the Pterocarya genus in three clades: clade 1 grouping exclusively the samples P. fraxinifolia, clearly separated from the East Asiatic taxa; clade 2 that includes the species P. hupehensis and P. macroptera; clade 3 clustering P. stenoptera and P. tonkinensis. Although the Iranian Pterocarya samples and P. fraxinifolia from the Caucasus were in the same clade, they presented two different secondary structures. The Iranian populations showed the maximum genetic distance with P. stenoptera and P. tonkinensis. Our analysis demonstrates that the traditional division of all the six species sampled throughout their distribution area as well as the phylogeny of the genus Pterocarya needs to be reviewed.  相似文献

Summary Trapping of three species of diplopods, viz. Cylindroiulus punctatus (Leach), Tachypodoiulus niger (Leach) and Polydesmus angustus Latzel with pitfall traps in areas with known densities follows a definite mathematical relationship. The number of each species trapped is density dependent upto a lavel: beyond that the increased density levels are not proportionately reflected in the catches. Meanwhile, one newly recorded subgenus, Meloe (Meloegonius) Reitter, 1911, and two newly recorded species, Meloe (Meloegonius) cicatricosus Leach, 1815 and Mylabris (Argabris) impedita impedita (Heyden, 1883), from China are reported and illustrated. Wolbachia (Alphaproteobacteria) is an inherited endosymbiont of arthropods and filarial nematodes and was reported to be widespread across insect taxa. While Wolbachia's effects on host biology are not understood from most of these hosts, known Wolbachia‐induced phenotypes cover a spectrum from obligate beneficial mutualism to reproductive manipulations and pathogenicity. Interestingly, data on Wolbachia within the most species‐rich order of arthropods, the Coleoptera (beetles), are scarce. Therefore, we screened 128 species from seven beetle families (Buprestidae, Hydraenidae, Dytiscidae, Hydrophilidae, Gyrinidae, Haliplidae, and Noteridae) for the presence of Wolbachia. Our data show that, contrary to previous estimations, Wolbachia frequencies in beetles (31% overall) are comparable to the ones in other insects. In addition, we used Wolbachia MLST data and host phylogeny to explore the evolutionary history of Wolbachia strains from Hydraenidae, an aquatic lineage of beetles. Our data suggest that Wolbachia from Hydraenidae might be largely host genus specific and that Wolbachia strain phylogeny is not independent to that of its hosts. As this contrasts with most terrestrial Wolbachia–arthropod systems, one potential conclusion is that aquatic lifestyle of hosts may result in Wolbachia distribution patterns distinct from those of terrestrial hosts. Our data thus provide both insights into Wolbachia distribution among beetles in general and a first glimpse of Wolbachia distribution patterns among aquatic host lineages.  相似文献
