The present study provides the length–weight and length–length relationships information (LWR & LLR) for three Blenny species; Antennablennius adenensis from the coast of Larak Island in the Persian Gulf and Istiblennius pox and Omobranchus mekranensis, which were captured in the coasts of Chabahar city in the Gulf of Oman, Iran. Total length (TL) and standard length (SL) were determined as well as weight. Specimens were collected occasionally in summer 2017 and winter 2018 by Hand net. The length–weight parameter b for these species was 2.84, 3.29 and 3.06 respectively with a high coefficient of determination (r2 ≥ 0.95). All LLRs were highly correlated (r2 > 0.99). All three species had no previous report for LWR and LLR estimates in FishBase.  相似文献

The present study provides the length–weight (LW) and length–length (LL) relationships for two goby species, Neogobius caspius and Proterorhinus nasalis, which were captured in the southern Caspian Sea. Total length (TL) and standard length (SL) were determined as well as weight. Specimens were collected monthly from September 2014 to August 2015 by beach seine (mesh size 10 mm). The LW parameter b for these species was 3.17 and 2.99, respectively, with a high coefficient of determination (r2 > .95). All LLRs were highly correlated (r2 > .97). Both species had no previous LWR and LLR estimates in FishBase.  相似文献

This paper reports the length–weight relationships for six fish species belonging to the Cyprinidae from the middle of the Yalu Tsangpo River in China. Samples were obtained by electroshock and drift net fishing techniques (mesh size 2 cm × 3 cm; 200 m net length) in April and September to October 2014. Length–weight relationships estimates for these species were not available in FishBase. A total of 737 specimens were used to estimate the a and b parameters. New maximum total lengths are also reported for six species. The r2 values range from 0.98 to 0.99. Values of b vary from 2.88 to 3.19.  相似文献

Length–length and length–weight relationships can vary temporally and spatially, so it is imperative that accurate estimates of these relationships are available. Total length–standard length (TL‐SL) and standard length–total weight (SL–TW) relationships were calculated for eight species of drum (Sciaenidae) occurring in estuaries of southeastern Louisiana. Data were derived from monthly trawl, beach seine, and gillnet collections taken in and around Lake Pontchartrain between 2000 and 2012. Overall TL–SL relationships (ignoring the month) were found for seven species and overall SL–TW relationships were found for eight species. The strong r2 values (all > 0.950, except for one instance) indicate that these relationships are robust and will be appropriate for use by scientists managing these species.  相似文献

This study investigated length–weight and length–length relationships of three Clupeonella species: C. caspia, C. engrauliformis and C. grimmi captured in the southern Caspian Sea, Iran. Using a lantern net, 206 specimens were collected from July to August 2016. Presented for two of the species are the length–weight and the length–length relationships as well as the first reference on length–weight and length–length relationships for C. caspia in its distribution range.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships are reported for four Indian carps. The length–weight relationship was W = 0.01123L3.355 for Cirrhinus mrigala, W = 0.07354L3.299 for Catla catla, W = 0.04066L3.313 for Labeo rohita and W = 0.11489L2.732 for Labeo fimbriatus. LWR estimates for C. mrigala and L. fimbriatus had not been previously reported in FishBase.  相似文献

This study determined the length–weight relationships of three freshwater fish species [Culter oxycephaloides (Kreyenberg & Pappenheim, 1908), Squalidus argentatus (Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant, 1874), Rhodeus sinensis (Günther, 1868)] from Pengxi River, a tributariy of Yangtze River of China. Fish were collected during 2016 using drift gill nets (mesh size 1, 2 and 3 cm) and cage net (0.5 cm mesh size). For Culter oxycephaloides had no previous length–weight estimates were reported in the science literature. For Squalidus argentatus the present estimate includes a new maximum total length while for Rhodeus sinensis our study confirms the only existing LWR estimate quite well.  相似文献

The Lake Eyre Basin in central Australia is one of the world's last unregulated dryland river systems. To facilitate future research in this area, the relationships between total length, standard length, and wet weight for 10 widespread, large‐bodied freshwater fish species are presented. All linear relationships were strong (r2 > 0.90) and values of the exponent b of the length–weight relationships ranged from 2.786 to 3.336. These results provide novel baseline data for species in this area.  相似文献

A total of 502 specimens were obtained during monthly samplings from July to December 2015, by fishermen using seine nets, gillnets and cast nets. Length–weight (LWRs) and length–length (LLRs) relationships were estimated for five fish species collected from the Atrai River in the northwestern region of Bangladesh. The values of slope (b) in LWRs (r2 > .913, p < .001) were determined as 2.899 for Aspidoparia jaya, 3.059 for Gagata cenia, 3.004 for Gagata youssoufi, 2.755 for Salmophasia bacaila, and 3.222 for Salmophasia phulo, respectively. The linear relationships in TL, FL and SL were highly correlated (for all cases: r2 > .897, p < .001). No previous information on LWRs (except for G. cenia) and LLRs (except for Sbacaila) of these selected species were found in FishBase.  相似文献

The length–weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for five fish species from the Beijiang River in China. Fishes were caught by gill nets (mesh sizes: 5, 7, 9 cm), and cage nets (mesh sizes: 0.5 cm) from April to September 2018. Length–weight relationships of four species were unknown to FishBase, and new records of maximum lengths are given for two species, one of which, Ancherythroculter lini, is endemic species of the Pearl River. All length–weight relationships were highly significant on a log scale with the coefficient of determination (r2) values ranged from 0.939 to 0.991. Values of b were within the expected range, varied from 2.935 for A. lini to 3.414 for Parasinilabeo assimilis.  相似文献

Presented are the length–weight and length–length relationships and condition factors for two mudskippers, Periophthalmus modestus and Periophthalmus magnuspinnatus, on the tidal flats of Korea. Values of the exponent b, estimated by nonlinear least squares from weight and length data, were 3.031 for P. modestus and 3.044 for P. magnuspinnatus. All relationships between total and standard length were linear (r2 > 0.974). The condition factors were significantly higher during the post‐spawning season than at other times for both species.  相似文献

Length–weight and length–length parameters were calculated for seven fish species belonging to five families in the Zohreh River, Iran. The weight–length relationships were estimated using the equation W = aLb. The b values varied between 2.72 and 3.33, with a mean ± SD of 2.88 ± 0.28. The b values parameter in the length–weight relationship equations were calculated as 3.15 for Alburnus mossulensis Heckel, 1843; 3.78 for Barilius mesopotamicus Berg, 1932; 2.86 for Cyprinion macrostomum Heckel, 1843; 2.89 for Nuchequula gerreoides (Bleeker, 1851); 2.80 for Mastacembelus mastacembelus (Banks & Solander, 1794); 2.72 for Liza abu (Heckel, 1843); and 3.19 for Paraschistura nielseni (Nalbant and Bianco, 1998). Length–weight (LWR) and length–length (LLR) relationships were estimated for 330 specimens from nine Paracobitis species in 11 localities throughout Iran. All fish were collected upon occasion by electrofishing throughout Iran from July 2010 to October 2016. These represent the first reports of LWR data for eight species including: Paracobitis atrakensis, P. hircanica, P. longicauda, P. molavii, P. persa, P. rhadinaeus, P. smithi and P. vignai and first LLR data for all species. A new maximum length is reported for P. malapterura. Four of these species are endemic and five species are native to Iran. The length–weight parameter b ranged from a minimum of 2.74 for P. atrakensis to a maximum of 3.01 for P. longicauda, with regression coefficients (r2) ranging from 0.96 to 0.99. Length–weight relationships (LWRs) and length–length relationships (LLRs) of two endemic Channid fish species, Channa aurantimaculata Musikasinthorn, 2000 and C. stewartii (Playfair, 1867) were studied from Brahmaputra River basin in Assam, India. Sampling was done from May to December, 2017 and a total of 81 fish specimens were collected using bamboo traps. In the LWRs, b value for C. aurantimaculata and C. stewartii were 3.0456 and 2.9172 respectively. Maximum size recorded for C. aurantimaculata in the present study (34.1 cm) was higher than previous record in FishBase (19.1 cm).  相似文献

This study provides basic information on length–weight relationships for Knipowitschia byblisia Ahnelt, 2011 and Knipowitschia caunosi Ahnelt, 2011, two endemic species of Köycegiz Lake Basin (Southern‐West of Turkey). Samplings were carried out seasonally from 2014 to 2015 by means of beach seine nets with mesh sizes from 10 to 35 mm. A total of 343 individuals from the two fish species were examined, with more specimens belonging to K. byblisa (90.4%). The total length–weight relationships were calculated as: W = 0.0054 TL3.384for K. byblisia and W = 0.0058 TL3.417for K. caunosi, respectively.  相似文献

Oilfish, escolar, snake mackerel (order Aulopiformes, family Gempylidae), and longnose lancetfish (order Perciformes, family Alepisauridae) sampled from the western North Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico were analyzed for length–weight and length–length relationships. These species are encountered as occasional bycatch of pelagic longline fisheries. The fish (161 specimens, 19.0–149.1 cm TL) were collected over a 3‐year period (January 2007–January 2010) from pelagic longline gear targeting swordfish and tuna. For each species, 95% confidence limits (CI) of parameters b and log a and regression coefficients (r2) were calculated for log‐transformed length–weight relationships. The length–weight parameter b for all species ranged from 2.881 to 3.358, with regression coefficients (r2) ranging from 0.75 to 0.98. Linear relationships between fork lengths, standard lengths, and total lengths were also calculated.  相似文献

Length‐weight (LWRs) and length–length (LLRs) relationships are reported for three fish species belonging to two families and two genera from the Heihe River, northwest China. Fish samples were collected using trap nets (mesh size 1 cm) in May and December of 2016, and April and October 2017. Standard length (SL) and total length (TL) for each individual were measured to the nearest 0.1 cm by digital slide caliper and each body weight (BW) was measured to an accuracy of 0.1 g using digital balance. The b‐values for LWRs varied from 2.580 to 3.164 (r2 > .956). The results further indicated that the LLRs were highly correlated (r> .991; < .01). This study presents the first references on LWRs for Gymnocypris chilianensis and Triplophysa hsutschouensis, and LLRs for G. chilianensis, Triplophysa leptosoma and Thsutschouensis. This biometric data and their relationships are relevant to the management and conservation of local fishes and fisheries.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships are presented for 33 fish species from New Zealand. The parameters a and b of the equation W = aLb were estimated. Parameter b ranged from 2.51 (Pseudocaranx dentex) to 3.51 (Alepocephalus antipodianus) with a mean of 3.12 ± 0.24. Most of these estimates (90.9%) were between 2.8 and 3.4. Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for seven riverine fish species from the river Ganga, India. Specimens were collected on a bi‐monthly basis from April 2017 to December 2018 using gill nets (mesh size 22–34 mm), cast nets (mesh size 16 mm) and bag nets (mesh size 14–22 mm). Total length was measured to the nearest 0.1 cm using a digital caliper and weight was recorded to the nearest 0.01 g on an electronic balance. From estimated length–weight relationships, the values for parameter “a” ranged from 0.004 (Bregmaceros mcclellandi and Setipinna tenuifilis) to 0.014 (Brachirus pan). Likewise, the values for the parameter “b” of the equation ranged from 2.958 (Bagarius bagarius) to 3.124 (Bregmaceros mcclellandi) and r2 from 0.978 (Gonialosa manmina) to 0.996 (Brachirus pan).  相似文献
