The great potential of solution‐processed metal nanowire networks utilized as a transparent electrode has attracted much attention in the last years. Typically, silver nanowires are applied, although their replacement by more abundant and cheaper materials is of interest. Here, a hydrazine‐free synthesis route for high aspect ratio copper nanowires is used to prepare conductive networks showing an enhanced electrode performance. The network deposition is done with a scalable spray‐coating process on glass and on polymer foils. By a pressing or an annealing step, highly conductive transparent electrodes are obtained, and they reveal transmittance‐resistance values similar to indium tin oxide (ITO) and networks made of silver nanowires. The application potential of the copper nanowire electrodes is demonstrated by integrating them into an evaporated small‐molecule organic solar cell with 3% efficiency.  相似文献

A symmetric solid‐state battery based on organic porous electrodes is fabricated using scalable spray‐printing. The active electrode material is based on a textile dye (disperse blue 134 anthraquinone) and is capable of forming divalent cations and anions in oxidation and reduction processes. The resulting molecule can be used in both negative and positive electrode reactions. After spray printing an inter‐connected pore honeycomb electrode, a solid‐state electrolyte (σLi: × 10?4 S cm?1) based on a polymeric ionic liquid is spray‐printed as a second layer and infiltrated through the porous electrodes. A symmetric all‐organic battery is then formed with the addition of another identical set of electrode and electrolyte layers. Both density functional theory calculations and charge‐discharge profiles show that the potentials for the negative and positive electrode reactions are amongst the lowest (≈2.0 V vs Li) and the highest (≈3.5 V vs Li), respectively, for quinone‐type molecules. Over the C‐rate range 0.2 to 5 C, the battery has a discharge cell voltage of more than 1 V even up to 250 charge‐discharge cycles and capacities are in the range 50–80 mA h g?1 at 0.5 C.  相似文献

The development of the next‐generation lithium ion battery requires environmental‐friendly electrode materials with long cycle life and high energy density. Organic compounds are a promising potential source of electrode materials for lithium ion batteries due to their advantages of chemical richness at the molecular level, cost benefit, and environmental friendliness, but they suffer from low capacity and dissatisfactory cycle life mainly due to hydrophobic dissolution in organic electrolytes and poor electronic conductivity. In this work, two types of triazine‐based covalent organic nanosheets (CONs) are exfoliated and composited with carbon nanotubes. The thin‐layered 2D structure for the exfoliated CONs can activate more functional groups for lithium storage and boost the utilization efficiency of redox sites compared to its bulk counterpart. Large reversible capacities of above 1000 mAh g?1 can be achieved after 250 cycles, which is comparable to high‐capacity inorganic electrodes. Moreover, the lithium‐storage mechanism is determined to be an intriguing 11 and 16 electron redox reaction, associated with the organic groups (unusual triazine ring, piperazine ring, and benzene ring, and common C?N, ? NH? groups).  相似文献

The role of the contacts in thin‐film, blended heterojunctions (<100 nm thick) organic photovoltaics is explored, specifically considering concepts of carrier selectivity, injection, and extraction efficiency, relative to recombination. Contact effects are investigated by comparing two hole‐collecting interlayers: a phosphonic acid monolayer on indium tin oxide (ITO) and a nickel oxide thin film. The interlayers have equivalent work functions (≈5.4 eV) but widely variant energy band offsets relative to the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital of the acceptor (electron blocking versus not), which are coupled to large differences in carrier density. Trends in open‐circuit voltages (VOC) as a function of light intensity and temperature are compared and it is concluded that the dominant mechanism limiting VOC for high density of states contacts is free carrier injection, not surface recombination or extraction barriers. Transient photocurrent decay measurements confirm excess reinjected carriers decrease the extraction efficiency via increased recombination and decrease free carrier lifetime, even at high internal electric fields, due to space charge accumulation. These results demonstrate that the energetics and injection dynamics of the interface between interlayers and high carrier density electrodes (typically ITO and metals) must be considered with fabrication and processing of interlayers, in addition to possible carrier selectivity and the interface with the active layer.  相似文献

Recently, organometal halide perovskite (OMHP)‐based solar cells have been regarded as one of the most promising technologies in the research field of renewable energy applications. Along with successful demonstrations of high power conversion efficiencies (PCEs), various characteristic strategies for fabricating functional OMHP‐based solar cells have been exploited to facilitate both their practical applicability and industrial suitability. As a part of such efforts, unconventional transparent conductive electrodes have been suggested based on the implementation of metal nanowires (MeNWs), which possess both high transparency and low sheet resistance, in order to replace traditional counterparts such as costly, limitedly‐flexible vacuum‐deposited conductive metal oxides. This allows for the facile fabrication of solution‐processable, low‐cost, highly flexible, high‐performance solar cell devices. In this review, the recent progress on OMHP solar cells integrated with MeNW‐network electrodes is investigated and the challenges associated with the integration of MeNW‐network electrodes are comprehensively addressed with the suggestion of possible solutions for resolving the critical issues.  相似文献

A efficient indium tin oxide (ITO)‐free transparent electrode based on an improved Ag film is designed by introducing small amount of Al during co‐deposition, producing ultrathin and smooth Ag film with low loss. A transparent electrode as thin as 4 nm is achieved by depositing the film on top of Ta2O5 layer, and organic solar cells based on such ultrathin electrode are built, producing power conversion efficiency over 7%. The device efficiency can be optimized by simply tuning Ta2O5 layer thickness external to the organic photovoltaic (OPV) structure to create an optical cavity resonance inside the photoactive layer. Therefore Ta2O5/Al‐doped Ag films function as a high‐performance electrode with high transparency, low resistance, improved photon management capability and mechanical flexibility.  相似文献

For ideal flexible transparent electrodes, the features of good electrical/optical properties, low surface roughness, efficient charge transportation, robust electrical stability under simultaneously continuous operation bias, and mechanical bending are critical. Herein, a flexible transparent electrode fulfilling all these features is demonstrated by silver (Ag) nanonetwork composites semi‐embedded in low‐temperature‐processed colorless polyimide (cPI), which shows a figure of merit over 1000 (5.4 Ω sq?1 sheet resistance and >94% diffused transmission at 550 nm wavelength), extremely smooth topography (<1 nm root‐mean‐square roughness and <3 nm peak‐to‐valley roughness), remarkable bending stability under continuous operation bias, and increased work function favoring the band alignment with typical charge transport layers for efficient devices. These characteristics are attributed to one‐step multifunctional chemical treatment on the composite of Ag nanowires and an example polymer of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS). The strategic one‐step process simultaneously offers selective welding at nanowires cross junctions to form an Ag nanonetwork, and removing polyvinylpyrrolidone surfactant from Ag nanowires and PSS from PEDOT:PSS. The flexible electrode also favors the residue‐free cPI transfer for applications. Flexible organic solar cells (OSCs) made from the electrode achieve an averaged power conversion efficiency of 14.46% (best, 15.12%), which is the best flexible OSCs reported so far.  相似文献

Conjugated polymers with high electrical conductivities are attractive for applications in capacitors, biosensors, organic thermoelectrics, and transparent electrodes. Here, a series of solution processable dioxythiophene copolymers based on 3,4‐propylenedioxythiophene (ProDOT) and 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) is investigated as thermoelectric and transparent electrode materials. Through structural manipulation of the polymer repeat unit, the conductivity of the polymers upon oxidative solution doping is tuned from 1 × 10?3 to 3 S cm?1, with a polymer consisting of a solubilizing alkylated ProDOT unit and an electron‐rich biEDOT unit (referred to as PE2) showing the highest electrical conductivity. Optimization of the film casting method and screening of dopants result in AgPF6‐doped PE2 achieving a high electrical conductivity of over 250 S cm?1 and a thermoelectric power factor of 7 μW m?1 K?2. Oxidized spray cast films of PE2 are also assessed as a transparent electrode material for use with another electrochromic polymer. This bilayer shows reversible electrochemical switching from a colored charge‐neutral state to a highly transmissive color‐neutral, oxidized state. These results demonstrate that dioxythiophene‐based copolymers are a promising class of materials, with ProDOT–biEDOT serving as a soluble analog to the well‐studied PEDOT as a p‐type thermoelectric and electrode material.  相似文献

Double‐walled carbon nanotubes are between single‐walled carbon nanotubes and multiwalled carbon nanotubes. They are comparable to single‐walled carbon nanotubes with respect to the light optical density, but their mechanical stability and solubility are higher. Exploiting such advantages, solution‐processed transparent electrodes are demonstrated using double‐walled carbon nanotubes and their application to perovskite solar cells is also demonstrated. Perovskite solar cells which harvest clean solar power have attracted a lot of attention as a next‐generation renewable energy source. However, their eco‐friendliness, cost, and flexibility are limited by the use of transparent oxide conductors, which are inflexible, difficult to fabricate, and made up of expensive rare metals. Solution‐processed double‐walled carbon nanotubes can replace conventional transparent electrodes to resolve such issues. Perovskite solar cells using the double‐walled carbon nanotube transparent electrodes produce an operating power conversion efficiency of 17.2% without hysteresis. As the first solution‐processed electrode‐based perovskite solar cells, this work will pave the pathway to the large‐size, low‐cost, and eco‐friendly solar devices.  相似文献

High energy‐density, low‐cost batteries are critically important to a variety of applications ranging from portable electronics to electric vehicles (EVs) and grid‐scale storage. While tremendous research effort has been focused on new materials or chemistries with high energy‐density potential, design innovations such as low‐tortuosity thick electrodes are another promising path toward higher energy density and lower cost. Growing demand for fast‐charging batteries has also highlighted the need for negative electrodes that can accept high rate charging without metal deposition; low tortuosity can be a benefit in this regard. However, a general and scalable fabrication method for low‐tortuosity electrodes is currently lacking. Here an emulsion‐based, magnetic‐alignment approach to producing thick electrodes (>400 µm thickness) with ultrahigh areal capacity (up to ≈14 mAh cm?2 vs 2–4 mAh cm?2 for conventional lithium ion) is reported. The process is demonstrated for LiCoO2 and meso‐carbon microbead graphite. The LiCoO2 cathodes are confirmed to have low tortuosity via DC‐depolarization experiments and deliver high areal capacity (>10 mAh cm?2) in galvanostatic discharge tests at practical C‐rates and model EV drive‐cycle tests. This simple fabrication method can potentially be applied to many other active materials to enable thick, low‐tortuosity electrodes.  相似文献

A cathode‐flow lithium‐iodine (Li–I) battery is proposed operating by the triiodide/iodide (I3?/I?) redox couple in aqueous solution. The aqueous Li–I battery has noticeably high energy density (≈0.28 kWh kg?1cell) because of the considerable solubility of LiI in aqueous solution (≈8.2 m ) and reasonably high power density (≈130 mW cm?2 at a current rate of 60 mA cm?2, 328 K). In the operation of cathode‐flow mode, the Li–I battery attains high storage capacity (≈90% of the theoretical capacity), Coulombic efficiency (100% ± 1% in 2–20 cycles) and cyclic performance (>99% capacity retention for 20 cycles) up to total capacity of 100 mAh.  相似文献

Graphene‐containing nanomaterials have emerged as important candidates for electrode materials in lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) due to their unique physical properties. In this review, a brief introduction to recent developments in graphene‐containing nanocomposite electrodes and their derivatives is provided. Subsequently, synthetic routes to nanoparticle/graphene composites and their electrochemical performance in LIBs are highlighted, and the current state‐of‐the‐art and most recent advances in the area of graphene‐containing nanocomposite electrode materials are summarized. The limitations of graphene‐containing materials for energy storage applications are also discussed, with an emphasis on anode and cathode materials. Potential research directions for the future development of graphene‐containing nanocomposites are also presented, with an emphasis placed on practicality and scale‐up considerations for taking such materials from benchtop curiosities to commercial products.  相似文献

Portable electronic devices have become increasingly widespread. Because these devices cannot always be tethered to a central grid, powering them will require low‐cost energy harvesting technologies. As a response to this anticipated demand, this study demonstrates transparent organic solar cells fabricated on flexible substrates, including plastic and paper, using graphene as both the anode and cathode. Optical transmittance of up to 69% at 550 nm is achieved by combining the highly transparent graphene electrodes with organic polymers that primarily absorb in the near‐IR and near‐UV regimes. To address the challenge of transferring graphene onto organic layers as the top electrode, this study develops a room temperature dry‐transfer technique using ethylene‐vinyl‐acetate as an adhesion‐promoting interlayer. The power conversion efficiency achieved for flexible devices with graphene anode and cathode devices is 2.8%–3.8% at for optical transmittance of 54%–61% across the visible regime. These results demonstrate the versatility of graphene in optoelectronic applications and it is important step toward developing a practical power source for distributed wireless electrical systems.  相似文献

Currently studied carbon nanotube‐silicon (CNT‐Si) solar cells are based on relatively small active areas (typically <0.15 cm2); increasing the active area generally leads to reduced power conversion efficiencies. This study reports CNT‐Si solar cells with active areas of more than 2 cm2 for single cells, yet still achieving cell efficiencies of about 10%, which is the first time for CNT‐Si solar cells with an active area more than 1 cm2 to reach the level for real applications. In this work, a controlled number of flattened highly conductive CNT strips is added, in simple arrangement, to form a CNT‐Si solar cell with CNT strips in which the middle film makes heterojunctions with Si while the top strips act as self‐similar top electrodes, like conventional metal grids. The CNT strips, directly condensed from as‐grown CNT films, not only improve the CNT‐Si junctions, but also enhance the conductivity of top electrodes without introducing contact barrier when the CNT strips are added onto the film. This property may facilitate the development of large‐area high‐performance CNT or graphene‐Si solar cells.  相似文献

A fundamental analysis of the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of organic tandem solar cells with equal absorbers in both subcells (homo‐tandem solar cells) is presented. Providing direct access to both subcells by introducing a conductive intermediate polymer electrode into the recombination zone, without changing the optical and electric device properties, the three‐terminal device becomes a proxy to the two‐terminal tandem solar cell properties. From the spectrally resolved EQE of the subcells in three‐terminal configuration wavelength and intensity of suitable bias light as well as bias voltage are determined that in turn allow for accurate EQE measurements of the common two‐terminal tandem solar cells. Theoretic considerations allow the prediction of the tandem solar cell's EQE from its subcells' EQEs as well as the prediction of the tandem cell EQE under monochromatic bias light illumination being in excellent agreement with experimental results. All findings discussed herein can be applied to more common hetero‐tandem solar cell architectures likewise.  相似文献
